अस्य प्रत्नामनु द्युतँ शुक्रं दुदुह्रे अह्रयः । पयः सहस्रसामृषिम् ॥ (१)

सोमरस चमकीला, ज्ञान बढ़ाने वाला व मनोकामना पूरी करने वाला है. ऋषियों ने इस के सहस्र स्वरूप का स्मरण कर के इसे तैयार किया है. (१)
EN English Translation
Someras is bright, knowledge-enhancing and fulfilling desires. The sages have prepared it by remembering its sahasra form. (1)
अयँ सूर्य इवोपदृगयँ सराँसि धावति । सप्त प्रवत आ दिवम् ॥ (२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
सोम सात धाराओं से उसी प्रकार दौड़ते हैं (प्रवाहित होते हैं), जिस तरह सूर्य स्वर्गलोक से सात किरणों से धरती पर आने के लिए दौड़ते हैं. (२)
EN English Translation
Soma runs (flows) from the seven streams in the same way as the Sun runs from heaven to come to earth with seven rays. (2)
अयं विश्वानि तिष्ठति पुनानो भुवनोपरि । सोमो देवो न सूर्यः ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
सोम सभी भुवनों के ऊपर प्रतिष्ठित हैं व समस्त संसार पर राज करते हैं. वे हमारे सूर्य हैं. (३)
EN English Translation
Som is revered over all bhuvanas and rules the whole world. They are our suns. (3)
एष प्रत्नेन जन्मना देवो देवेभ्यः सुतः । हरिः पवित्रे अर्षति ॥ (४)

सोमरस दिव्य है. देवता संस्कारपूर्वक उसे परिष्कृत करते हैं. वह हरा है और उसे पवित्र छलनी में परिष्कृत किया जाता है. (४)
EN English Translation
Somerus is divine. The gods refine it sacramentally. He is green and is refined into holy sieves. (4)
एष प्रत्नेन मन्मना देवो देवेभ्यस्परि । कविर्विप्रेण वावृधे ॥ (५)

सोम कवि और विद्वानों से प्रशंसा प्राप्त करते हैं. वे सभी देवताओं से ऊपर हैं. उन को संस्कारपूर्वक अनेक विधियों से परिष्कृत किया जाता है. (५)
EN English Translation
Som receives praise from poets and scholars. They are above all gods. They are culturedly refined in many ways. (5)
दुहानः प्रत्नमित्पयः पवित्रे परि षिच्यसे । क्रन्दं देवाँ अजीजनः ॥ (६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
सोमरस को छलनी से परिष्कृत किया जाता है और उसे बरतन (पात्र) में निचोड़ा जाता है. सोम आवाज करते हुए पात्र में जाते हैं तो लगता है मानो वे देवताओं का आह्वान कर रहे हों. (६)
EN English Translation
Somers is refined with a sieve and squeezed into a vessel. When Soma goes into the vessel while making a sound, it seems as if he is invoking the gods. (6)
उप शिक्षापतस्थुषो भियसमा धेहि शत्रवे । पवमान विदा रयिम् ॥ (७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे सोम! आप अकल्याणकारियों को भयभीत कीजिए. आप हमारा मार्गदर्शन कीजिए. आप हमें धनधान्य से परिपूर्ण करने की कृपा कीजिए. (७)
EN English Translation
O Mon! You scare the unsuspecting. You guide us. Please fill us with wealth. (7)
उषो षु जातमप्तुरं गोभिर्भङ्गं परिष्कृतम् । इन्दुं देवा अयासिषुः ॥ (८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
सोमरस को निचोड़ा जाता है. तत्पश्चात उस को परिष्कृत किया जाता है. फिर जल में मिलाया जाता है. आप को गाय के दूध में मिलाया जाता है. देवता भी सोम को बुलाते हैं. (८)
EN English Translation
Somerus is squeezed. It is then refined. Then it is added to the water. You are added to cow's milk. The gods also call Soma. (8)
उपास्मै गायता नरः पवमानायेन्दवे । अभि देवाँ इयक्षते ॥ (९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे यजमानो! आप देवताओं के गुण गाने की अपेक्षा सोम के गुण गाइए. (९)
EN English Translation
O hosts! You sing the virtues of Soma rather than sing the virtues of the gods. (9)
