पुमा॑न्पुं॒सोऽधि॑ तिष्ठ॒ चर्मे॑हि॒ तत्र॑ ह्वयस्व यत॒मा प्रि॒या ते॑ । याव॑न्ता॒वग्रे॑ प्रथ॒मं स॑मे॒यथु॒स्तद्वां॒ वयो॑ यम॒राज्ये॑ समा॒नम् ॥ (१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे पुरुषार्थ वाले पुरुष! तू इस पशु धर्म पर चढ़ जा. तू अपने प्रिय व्यक्तियों को भी बुला ले. पहले जितने पतिपात्नियों ने इस कार्य को किया, उन का और तुम्हारा समान फल हो. (१)
EN English Translation
O man of effort! You go ahead with this animal dharma. Call your loved ones too. May all the husbands who have done this work before have the same fruit and you. (1)
ददा॒मीत्ये॒व ब्रू॑या॒दनु॑ चैना॒मभु॑त्सत । व॒शां ब्र॒ह्मभ्यो॒ याच॑द्भ्य॒स्तत्प्र॒जाव॒दप॑त्यवत् ॥ (१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
मैं मांगने वाले ब्राह्मणों को देता हूं, ऐसा कह कर उत्तर दे, फिर वे ब्राह्मण कहें कि यह कर्म यजमान को संतान आदि से संपन्न कराने वाला हो. (१)
EN English Translation
I give it to the Brahmins who ask, then they should answer by saying this, then those Brahmins say that this karma should be done by the host with children etc. (1)
श्रमे॑ण॒ तप॑सा सृ॒ष्टा ब्रह्म॑णा वि॒त्तर्ते श्रि॒ता ॥ (१)

तप के द्वारा विरचित तथा परब्रह्म में आश्रित इस धेनु को ब्राह्मण ने यम से प्राप्त किया है. (१)

Brahmins have received this Dhenu from Yama, composed by penance and dependent on Parabrahma. (1)
ओज॑श्च॒ तेज॑श्च॒ सह॑श्च॒ बलं॑ च॒ वाक्चे॑न्द्रि॒यं च॒ श्रीश्च॒ धर्म॑श्च ॥ (१)

उस क्षत्रिय के ओज, तेज, ब्रह्म, वाणी, इंद्रियों, लक्ष्मी, धर्म, वेद, क्षात्र शक्ति, राष्ट्र, हवि, यश, पराक्रम, धन, आयु, रूप, नाम, कीर्ति, नेत्र, कान, दूध, रस, अन्न, अग्नि, सत्य, इष्ट, पूर्त, प्रजा आदि सभी छिन जाते हैं. जो ब्राह्मण गौ का अपहरण करता है. वह अपनी आयु को क्षीण करता है. (१)

The oz, tej, brahma, vani, senses, lakshmi, dharma, vedas, kshatra shakti, nation, havi, yasha, might, wealth, age, form, name, fame, eyes, ears, milk, juice, food, agni, truth, ishta, purta, praja etc. of that Kshatriya are all taken away. Who kidnaps a Brahmin cow. He reduces his age. (1)
सैषा भी॒मा ब्र॑ह्मग॒व्यघवि॑षा सा॒क्षात्कृ॒त्या कूल्ब॑ज॒मावृ॑ता ॥ (१)

ब्राह्मण की यह धेनु विराजमान होती है. कूल्बज पाप से ढके हुए हिंसा करने वाले विष से युक्त हुई यह धेनु कृत्या के समान हो जाती है. (१)
EN English Translation
This dhenu of a Brahmin is seated. It becomes like a dhenu krita, covered with sin-covered poison. (1)
स॒त्यं बृ॒हदृ॒तमु॒ग्रं दी॒क्षा तपो॒ ब्रह्म॑ य॒ज्ञः पृ॑थि॒वीं धा॑रयन्ति । सा नो॑ भू॒तस्य॒ भव्य॑स्य॒ पत्न्यु॒रुं लो॒कं पृ॑थि॒वी नः॑ कृणोतु ॥ (१)

पृथ्वी को धारण करने वाले ब्रह्म, तप, यज्ञदीक्षा तथा विशाल रूप में फैले हुए जल हैं. इस पृथ्वी ने भूत काल के जीवों का पालन किया था और भविष्य काल के जीवों का भी पालन करेगी. इस प्रकार की पृथ्वी हमें निवास के हेतु विस्तृत स्थान प्रदान करे. (१)
EN English Translation
Brahman, tapa, yajnadiksha and vast form spread water are those who hold the earth. This earth had followed the creatures of the past and will also follow the creatures of the future. This type of earth gives us a wide space to live. (1)

यह ब्राह्मण की अपहृत अर्थात् चुराई हुई गाय है. यह पुत्र, पौत्र आदि का बंटवारा कर उन का विनाश करने वाली है. (१)

This is a Brahmin's abducted cow. It is going to destroy sons, grandsons etc. by dividing them. (1)
तस्या॑ आ॒हन॑नं कृ॒त्या मे॒निरा॒शस॑नं वल॒ग ऊब॑ध्यम् ॥ (१)

ब्राह्मण की गाय को मारना मरणासन्न बन जाता है. इस को हनन करना कृत्या राक्षसी है. इस का गोबर युक्त आधा पका हुआ चारा शपथ के समान है. (१)

Killing a Brahmin's cow becomes dying. It is monstrous to violate it. Its half-cooked fodder containing cow dung is like an oath. (1)

जो क्षत्रिय ब्राह्मण की गाय को ले जाता है, गिद्ध उस के नेत्र निकालते हैं. (१)

The vultures remove the eyes of the Kshatriya who takes the brahmin's cow. (1)
वृ॒श्च प्र वृ॑श्च॒ सं वृ॑श्च॒ दह॒ प्र द॑ह॒ सं द॑ह ॥ (१)

हे ब्राह्मण की गाय! तू अपने अपहरण करने वाले को बारबार काट और जला दे. (१)

O Brahmin's cow! Cut and burn your abductor again and again. (1)
न॒डमा रो॑ह॒ न ते॒ अत्र॑ लो॒क इ॒दं सीसं॑ भाग॒धेयं॑ त॒ एहि॑ । यो गोषु॒ यक्ष्मः॒ पुरु॑षेषु॒ यक्ष्म॒स्तेन॒ त्वं सा॒कम॑ध॒राङ्परे॑हि ॥ (१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे क्रव्याद अग्नि! तू नड अर्थात् सरकंडे पर आरोहण कर. जो यक्ष्मा रोग मनुष्यों में अथवा जो यक्ष्मा गौ में है, तू उस के साथ यहां से दूर चली जा. तू अपने भाग्य की सीमा पर आ. (१)
EN English Translation
O agni! You climb on the river. Go away from here with the tuberculosis disease that is in humans or the tuberculosis that is in cow. Come to the limits of your destiny. (1)
ताव॑द्वां॒ चक्षु॒स्तति॑ वी॒र्याणि॒ ताव॒त्तेज॑स्तति॒धा वाजि॑नानि । अ॒ग्निः शरी॑रं सचते य॒दैधो॑ऽधा प॒क्वान्मि॑थुना॒ सं भ॑वाथः ॥ (२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
स्वर्ग में तुम्हारे शरीरों को यह अग्नि ही संचित करेगी. उस समय तुम पक्व ओदन के प्रभाव से इसी रूप में स्वर्ग में होओगे. तुम से उत्पन्न शिशु को भी दर्शन शक्ति तथा उसी प्रकार का तेज प्राप्त होगा. यह शब्दात्मक यज्ञ भी इसी प्रकार अग्नि के योग्य होगा. (२)
EN English Translation
This agni will store your bodies in heaven. At that time you will be in heaven in this form under the influence of Pakva Odan. The child born of you will also get the power of vision and the same kind of radiance. This verbal yajna will also be worthy of agni in the same way. (2)
प्र॒जया॒ स वि क्री॑णीते प॒शुभि॒श्चोप॑ दस्यति । य आ॑र्षे॒येभ्यो॒ याच॑द्भ्यो दे॒वानां॒ गां न दित्स॑ति ॥ (२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जो पुरुष ऋषियों सहित मांगने वाले ब्राह्मणों को देवताओं के निमित्त गोदान नहीं करता, वह अपनी संतान विक्रय करने वाला होता हुआ पशुओं से हीन हो जाता है. (२)
EN English Translation
The man who does not donate god to the Brahmins who ask for it, including the sages, becomes inferior to the animals while being the seller of his children. (2)

अ॑संबा॒धं ब॑ध्य॒तो मा॑न॒वानां॒ यस्या॑ उ॒द्वतः॑ प्र॒वतः॑ स॒मं ब॒हु । नाना॑वीर्या॒ ओष॑धी॒र्या बिभ॑र्ति पृथि॒वी नः॑ प्रथतां॒ राध्य॑तां नः ॥ (२)

जिस भूमि पर ऊंचे, नीचे तथा समतल स्थान हैं तथा जो अनेक प्रकार की सामर्थ्य वाली जड़ीबूटियों को धारण करती है, वह भूमि हमें सभी प्रकार तथा पूर्ण रूप से प्राप्त हो और हमारी सभी कामनाओं को पूर्ण करे. (२)
EN English Translation
The land on which there are high, low and flat places and which holds herbs with many types of strength, that land should be attained by us in all respects and completely and fulfill all our wishes. (2)

ब्राह्मणों की यह गाय हरण करते समय अर्थात् चुराते समय अस्त्र रूप है और चुराने के बाद चुराने वाले को क्षीण करने वाली होती है. (२)

क्षि॒प्रं वै तस्या॒दह॑नं॒ परि॑ नृत्यन्ति के॒शिनी॑राघ्ना॒नाः पा॒णिनोर॑सि कुर्वा॒णाः पा॒पमै॑ल॒बम् ॥ (२)

जो क्षत्रिय ब्राह्मण की गाय ले जाता है, उस की चिता भस्म के समीप केशों वाली स्त्रियां अपनी छाती कूटती हैं और आंसू बहाती हैं. (२)

The kshatriya who takes the brahmin's cow, near his pyre bhasma, the women with hair crush their chests and shed tears. (2)

हे अघ्न्या! तू अपहरण करने वाले को समूल नष्ट कर दे. (२)

Oh my god! Destroy the kidnapper completely. (2)
अ॑घशंसदुःशं॒साभ्यां॑ क॒रेणा॑नुक॒रेण॑ च । यक्ष्मं॑ च॒ सर्वं॒ तेने॒तो मृ॒त्युं च॒ निर॑जामसि ॥ (२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
पाप और दुर्भावनाओं का नाश करने वाले कर तथा अनुकर से मैं यक्ष्मा रोग को पृथकू करता हूं. मैं मृत्यु को भी दूर भगाता हूं. (२)
EN English Translation
I separate tuberculosis from the tax and compassion that destroys sin and ill-will. I also drive away death. (2)
सम॑स्मिंल्लो॒के समु॑ देव॒याने॒ सं स्मा॑ स॒मेतं॑ यम॒राज्ये॑षु । पू॒तौ प॒वित्रै॒रुप॒ तद्ध्व॑येथां॒ यद्य॒द्रेतो॒ अधि॑ वां संब॒भूव॑ ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
इस ओदन के प्रभाव से इस लोक में तुम दोनों साथ रहो. तुम यम मार्ग में तथा यह मेरे यज्ञ में साथ ही रहो. इन पवित्र यज्ञों को पूरा करने के कारण तुम पवित्र हो चुके हो. तुम ने जिसजिस कार्य के लिए संकेत किया, तुम उन कमो के फल प्राप्त करो. (३)
EN English Translation
Stay together in this world with the effect of this odan. You stay with you on the way yama and it in my yajna. You have become pure because of the completion of these holy sacrifices. Whatever work you have indicated for, you receive the fruits of those people. (3)
कू॒टया॑स्य॒ सं शी॑र्यन्ते श्लो॒णया॑ का॒टम॑र्दति । ब॒ण्डया॑ दह्यन्ते गृ॒हाः का॒णया॑ दीयते॒ स्वम् ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
वशा गौ के कूटा अर्थात् बिना सींगों वाले अंग के कारण दान न करने वाले के पदार्थ समाप्त हो जाते हैं. दान न करने वाला लकड़ी से गाय के सीगों के स्थान को पीड़ित करता है. बंडी अर्थात् बिना सींगों वाली गाय देने से उस के घर का नाश हो जाता है तथा कानी गाय देने से धन चला जाता है. (३)
EN English Translation
Due to the koota of Vasha cow i.e. organ without horns, the substances of the donor are eliminated. The non-donor afflicts the location of the cow's horns with wood. By giving a cow without horns, his house is destroyed and by giving a kani cow, the money goes away. (3)
स्व॒धया॒ परि॑हिता श्र॒द्धया॒ पर्यू॑ढा दी॒क्षया॑ गु॒प्ता य॒ज्ञे प्रति॑ष्ठिता लो॒को नि॒धन॑म् ॥ (३)

यह धेनु श्रद्धा से व्याप्त, स्वधा से युक्त और दीक्षा के द्वारा रक्षित है. यह मन से प्रतिष्ठित है. क्षत्रिय का इस की ओर दृष्टि डालना मृत्यु के समान है. (३)
EN English Translation
This dhenu is pervaded with reverence, full of swadha and protected by initiation. It is distinguished by mind. The Kshatriya's look at it is like death. (3)
आयु॑श्च रू॒पं च॒ नाम॑ च की॒र्तिश्च॑ प्रा॒णश्चा॑पा॒नश्च॒ चक्षु॑श्च॒ श्रोत्रं॑ च ॥ (३)

यस्यां॑ समु॒द्र उ॒त सिन्धु॒रापो॒ यस्या॒मन्नं॑ कृ॒ष्टयः॑ संबभू॒वुः । यस्या॑मि॒दं जिन्व॑ति प्रा॒णदेज॒त्सा नो॒ भूमिः॑ पूर्व॒पेये॑ दधातु ॥ (३)

यह पृथ्वी सागरों, नदियों, झरनों और सरोवरों के जल से सुशोभित है. इस पृथ्वी पर कृषि की जाती है, जिस से अन्न उत्पन्न होता है. उस अन्न से संसार के प्राणवान मनुष्य, पशु आदि तृप्ति पाते हैं. इस प्रकार की पृथ्वी हमें उस प्रदेश में प्रतिष्ठित करे, जहां पर रसदार फल उत्पन्न होते हैं. (३)
EN English Translation
This earth is adorned with the water of the oceans, rivers, springs and lakes. Agriculture is done on this earth, from which food is produced. With that food, the living human beings, animals, etc. of the world get satisfaction. May this kind of earth establish us in the region where juicy fruits are produced. (3)

पाप रूप होने वाली ब्राह्मण की यह गाय कठोरता उत्पन्न करती है. (३)

The killed Brahmin's cow becomes a non-vegetarian animal and eats the killer. (3)
