अ॑सप॒त्नं पु॒रस्ता॑त्प॒श्चान्नो॒ अभ॑यं कृतम् । स॑वि॒ता मा॑ दक्षिण॒त उ॑त्त॒रान्मा॑ शची॒पतिः॑ ॥ (१)

हे सब के प्रेरक सविता देव! पूर्व दिशा में हमें शत्रु रहित बनाओ तथा पश्चिम दिशा को भी हमारे शत्रुओं से शून्य कर दो. सविता देव उत्तर दिशा में तथा शची के पति इंद्र दक्षिण दिशा में मेरी रक्षा करें. (१)
EN English Translation
O inspiration of all Savita Dev! Make us enemy-free in the east direction and make the west direction zero from our enemies. Savita Dev should protect me in the north direction and Shachi's husband Indra in the south direction. (1)
अ॒ग्निर्मा॑ पातु॒ वसु॑भिः पु॒रस्ता॒त्तस्मि॑न्क्रमे॒ तस्मि॑ञ्छ्रये॒ तां पुरं॒ प्रैमि॑ । स मा॑ रक्षतु॒ स मा॑ गोपायतु॒ तस्मा॑ आ॒त्मानं॒ परि॑ ददे॒ स्वाह॑ ॥ (१)

पृथ्वी स्थानीय देव अग्नि वसु नाम वाले देवों के साथ पूर्व दिशा में मेरी रक्षा करें. वे पैर रखने की क्रिया में और पैर रखने के स्थान में मेरी रक्षा करें. वे उस नगर में मेरी रक्षा करें, जहां मैं जाऊं एवं वे मेरा हित साधन करें. मैं सभी प्रकार से रक्षक अग्नि के प्रति समर्पण करता हूं. यह हवि अग्नि को प्राप्त हो. EN English Translation
Protect me in the east direction with the gods named Agni Vasu, the local god of the earth. They protect me in the act of keeping feet and in the place of placing feet. They should protect me in the city where I go and they serve my interests. I surrender to the protector agni in every way. May this havi be attained by agni. (1)

मुझ से संबंधित जो बाहरी वस्तुएं गोचर तथा खुले प्रदेश में हैं तथा जो आसपास के घरों में विद्यमान हैं, मैं वे सभी वस्तुएं तुझे देता हूं. (१)

I give you all the external things related to me which are in the transit and open territory and which are present in the surrounding houses. (1)
इ॑षि॒रा योषा॑ युव॒तिर्दमू॑ना॒ रात्री॑ दे॒वस्य॑ सवि॒तुर्भग॑स्य । अ॑श्वक्ष॒भा सु॒हवा॒ संभृ॑तश्री॒रा प॑प्रौ॒ द्यावा॑पृथि॒वी म॑हि॒त्वा ॥ (१)

सब के द्वारा प्रार्थनीय, यौवन वाली तथा श्रेष्ठ मन वाली रात्रि सभी के प्रेरक सविता और भग देव की पत्नी है. यह अपने विषय में चक्षु आदि इंद्रियों का तिरस्कार करती है. यह उत्तम हवन करने योग्य तथा संपूर्ण कांति वाली रात्रि अपने महत्त्व से द्यावा और पृथ्वी को पूर्ण करती है. (१)
EN English Translation
The night of praiseworthy, youth and superior mind by all is the inspiring savita of all and the wife of God. It despises the eyes and senses in its subject. This good havan-able and completes the earth with its importance. (1)
अ॒ग्निं ते वसु॑वन्तमृच्छन्तु । ये मा॑ऽघा॒यवः॒ प्राच्या॑ दि॒शोऽभि॒दासा॑त् ॥ (१)

जो मेरी हिंसा रूपी पाप की इच्छा करते हैं, वे पूर्व दिशा से आ कर रात्रि की पूजा करने वाले मुझे किसी प्रकार हिंसित न करें. वे शत्रु अपने विनाश के लिए वसु नामक देवों वाली अग्नि के पास जाएं. (१)
EN English Translation
Those who desire my sin of violence, those who come from the east direction and worship me at night, should not hide me in any way. Those enemies should go to the agni with gods called Vasu for their destruction. (1)
अध॑ रात्रि तृ॒ष्टधू॑ममशी॒र्षाण॒महिं॑ कृणु । अ॒क्षौ वृक॑स्य॒ निर्ज॑ह्या॒स्तेन॒ तं द्रु॑प॒दे ज॑हि ॥ (१)

हे रात्रि! जिस सर्प की धुएं के समान सांस कष्टदायक है, उस का सिर काट दो. भेड़िए को नेत्रहीन कर के वृक्ष के नीचे मार डालो. (१)
EN English Translation
O night! Cut off the head of a snake whose smoke-like breath is painful. Blindly kill the wolf under the tree. (1)
मि॒त्रः पृ॑थि॒व्योद॑क्राम॒त्तां पुरं॒ प्र ण॑यामि वः । तामा वि॑शत॒ तां प्र वि॑शत॒ सा वः॒ शर्म॑ च॒ वर्म॑ च यच्छतु ॥ (१)

मित्र नाम वाले अग्नि जिस पुर की रक्षा के लिए पृथ्वी से उठते हैं, उस शय्या युक्त पुर में मैं तुझ राजा को पत्नी और प्रजा के साथ प्रवेश कराता हूं. वह पुर तुम को सुख और कवच अर्थात् रक्षा प्रदान करे. (१)
EN English Translation
I make your king enter the tree with his wife and people in the bed-bearing pur of the agni named Mitra to protect from the earth. May that pur give you happiness and armor i.e. protection. (1)
अयु॑तो॒ऽहमयु॑तो म आ॒त्मायु॑तं मे॒ चक्षु॒रयु॑तं मे॒ श्रोत्र॑मयु॑तो मे प्रा॒णोऽयु॑तो मेऽपा॒नोऽयु॑तो मे व्या॒नोऽयु॑तो॒ऽहं सर्वः॑ ॥ (१)

कर्म का अनुष्ठान करने का इच्छुक मैं पूर्ण हूं. मेरा शरीर पूर्ण है, मेरी आत्मा पूर्ण है, मेरे नेत्र, कान, मेरी प्राण वायु, मेरी अपान वायु तथा मेरी व्यान वायु पूर्ण है. इस प्रकार मैं सभी दृष्टि से पूर्ण हूं. (१)

I am complete to do the ritual of karma. My body is complete, my soul is full, my eyes, ears, my life air, my apana vayu and my vyan vayu are full. Thus I am complete in all respects. (1)
काम॒स्तदग्रे॒ सम॑वर्तत॒ मन॑सो॒ रेतः॑ प्रथ॒मं यदासी॑त् । स का॑म॒ कामे॑न बृह॒ता सयो॑नी रा॒यस्पोषं॒ यज॑मानाय धेहि ॥ (१)

इस वर्तमान सृष्टि के पहले परमेश्वर के मन में काम भलीभांति व्याप्त हो गया. माया में विलीन अंतःकरण में वही काम बीज बना. हे काम! सारे संसार का निर्माण करने के लिए उत्पन्न किए गए तुम महान परमेश्वर के द्वारा समान कारण बने. हे काम! तुम यजमान को धन की अधिकता प्रदान करो. (१)
EN English Translation
Before this present creation, work was well ingrained in God's mind. The same work became a seed in the heart that merged into Maya. This job! You became the same cause by the Great God created to create the whole world. This job! You give the host an abundance of money. (1)
अप॒ न्यधुः॒ पौरु॑षेयं व॒धं यमि॑न्द्रा॒ग्नी धा॒ता स॑वि॒ता बृह॒स्पतिः॑ । सोमो॑ राजा॒ वरु॑णो अ॒श्विना॑ य॒मः पू॒षास्मान्परि॑ पातु मृ॒त्योः ॥ (१)

शत्रु पुरुषों द्वारा गुप्त रूप से हमारे विरुद्ध जो मृत्यु साधन किया गया है, उस में इंद्र, अग्नि, धाता, सविता, बृहस्पति, सोम, वरुण, अश्विनीकुमार, यम और पूषा हमारे कवचधारी राजा की रक्षा करें. (१)
EN English Translation
In the means of death secretly committed against us by enemy men, Indra, Agni, Dhata, Savita, Brihaspati, Soma, Varuna, Ashwinikumar, Yama and Pusha should protect our armored king. (1)
का॒लो अश्वो॑ वहति स॒प्तर॑श्मिः सहस्रा॒क्षो अ॒जरो॒ भूरि॑रेताः । तमा रो॑हन्ति क॒वयो॑ विप॒श्चित॒स्तस्य॑ च॒क्रा भुव॑नानि॒ विश्वा॑ ॥ (१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
सात किरणों अथवा रस्सियों वाला, हजार नेत्रों वाला, वृद्धावस्था रहित तथा अत्यधिक वीर्य से युक्त कालरूपी घोड़ा रथ को खींचता है. सभी लोक उस के चक्र अर्थात् पहिए हैं. विद्वान् पुरुष उस रथ पर सवार होते हैं. (१)
EN English Translation
A kal-like horse with seven rays or ropes, with a thousand eyes, without old age and with excessive semen, pulls the chariot. All the worlds are its chakras i.e. wheels. Learned men ride on that chariot. (1)
गा॑य॒त्र्युष्णिग॑नु॒ष्टुब्बृ॑ह॒ती प॒ङ्क्तिस्त्रि॒ष्टुब्जग॑त्यै ॥ (१)

गायत्री, उष्णिक, अनुष्टुप, बृहती, पंक्ति, त्रिष्टुप तथा जगती नाम के छंदों के लिए यह आहुति भलीभांति प्राप्त हो. (१)
EN English Translation
This sacrifice should be well received for verses named Gayatri, Yushnik, Anushtup, Brihati, Rekha, Trishtup and Jagati. (1)

आंगिरसों अर्थात् अंगिरा गोत्र वाले ऋषियों के लिए आरंभ के पांच अनुवाकों के द्वारा यह आहुति भलीभांति प्राप्त हो. (१)
EN English Translation
This sacrifice should be well received by the first five anukakas for the Angiras i.e. the sages of the Angira tribe. (1)
का॒लादापः॒ सम॑भवन्का॒लाद्ब्रह्म॒ तपो॒ दिशः॑ । का॒लेनोदे॑ति॒ सूर्यः॑ का॒ले नि वि॑शते॒ पुनः॑ ॥ (१)

काल से जलों की उत्पत्ति हुई. काल से ब्रह्म अर्थात् यज्ञ आदि कर्म, चांद्रायण आदि तप तथा पूर्व आदि दिशाएं उत्पन्न हुई. काल के कारण ही सूर्य उदय होता है तथा काल में ही अस्त हो जाता है. (१)
EN English Translation
Water originated from time. From time to time, Brahma i.e. Yajna etc. karma, chandrayan etc. tapa and east etc. directions were generated. Due to time, the sun rises and sets in time itself. (1)
रात्रिं॑रात्रि॒मप्र॑यातं॒ भर॒न्तोऽश्वा॑येव॒ तिष्ठ॑ते घा॒सम॒स्मै । रा॒यस्पोषे॑ण॒ समि॒षा मद॑न्तो॒ मा ते॑ अग्ने॒ प्रति॑वेशा रिषाम ॥ (१)

हे अग्नि देव! तुम यज्ञ के साधन के रूप में गार्हपत्य आदि यज्ञशालाओं में वर्तमान हो. जिस प्रकार घोड़े को घास दी जाती है, उसी प्रकार तुम्हारे लिए हम यह खाने योग्य हवि रातदिन प्रदान करते हुए अन्न और धन से प्रसन्न होते हुए तुम्हारा सामीप्य प्राप्त करें तथा हमें नाश की प्राप्ति न हो. (१)
EN English Translation
O God of Agni! You are present in yagyashalas like Garhapatya etc. as a means of yajna. Just as grass is given to a horse, in the same way, we should provide this edible food and night and day for you, please with food and money and get your proximity and we do not get destruction. (1)
य॒मस्य॑ लो॒कादध्या ब॑भूविथ॒ प्रम॑दा॒ मर्त्या॒न्प्र यु॑नक्षि॒ धीरः॑ । ए॑का॒किना॑ स॒रथं॑ यासि वि॒द्वान्त्स्वप्नं॒ मिमा॑नो॒ असु॑रस्य॒ योनौ॑ ॥ (१)

हे बुरे स्वप्र के अभिमानी क्रूर पिशाच! तू यमलोक से धरती पर आया है. तू निर्भय हो कर स्त्रियों और पुरुषों के समीप पहुंच जाता है. शरीरधारियों की आयु की वृद्धि और हानि जानता हुआ तू प्राण के आत्मीय स्थान हृदय में स्वप्न के कष्ट का निर्माण करता हुआ सहायक हीन रथ के द्वारा यमलोक प्राप्त कराता है. (१)

O arrogant cruel vampire of evil self! You have come to earth from Yamlok. You fearlessly approach women and men. Knowing the increase and loss of the age of the bodily beings, you attain Yamlok through a helpful chariot, creating the pain of dreams in the heart, the intimate place of the soul. (1)

आथर्वणों की पांच ऋचाओं को अर्थात् इन ऋचाओं की रचना करने वाले ऋषियों को यह आहुति भलीभांति प्राप्त हो. (१)

The five verses of atharvanas, that is, the sages who compose these richas, should get this sacrifice well. (1)
यथा॑ क॒लां यथा॑ श॒फं यथ॒र्णं सं॒नय॑न्ति । ए॒वा दुः॒ष्वप्न्यं॒ सर्व॒मप्रि॑ये॒ सं न॑यामसि ॥ (१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जैसे ऋत्विज् मारे गए बलि पशु को काट कर टुकड़े योग्य अंगों का संस्कार करते हुए खुर आदि प्रयोग में न आने वाले अंगों को साथ ले कर अन्यत्र जाते हैं तथा जिस प्रकार ऋण देने वाले को मूल धन और ब्याज लौटाते हैं, उसी प्रकार बुरे स्वप्न के कारण जितने भी अनर्थ हैं, उन्हें हम जलों के मध्य त्रित नाम के महर्षि पर धारण करते हैं. Just as the Ritwijas cut off the killed sacrificial animal and take the organs that are not used in the hooves, etc., and return the principal and interest to the lender, in the same way, we hold all the problems caused by bad dreams on the Maharishi named Trit in the middle of the water. (1)
घृ॒तस्य॑ जू॒तिः सम॑ना सदे॑वा संवत्स॒रं ह॒विषा॑ व॒र्धय॑न्ती । श्रोत्रं॒ चक्षुः॑ प्रा॒णोऽच्छि॑न्नो नो अ॒स्त्वच्छि॑न्ना व॒यमायु॑षो॒ वर्च॑सः ॥ (१)

परमात्मा के स्वरूप के विषय में जो ज्ञान है, वह सभी प्राणियों के हृदयों तथा सभी प्राणियों की इंद्रियों में स्थित है. परमात्मा से संबंधित ज्ञान परमात्मा को हवि के द्वारा बढ़ाता हुआ हमारे कानों और आंखों को स्वस्थ करे. हम जीवन के तेज से युक्त रहें. (१)
EN English Translation
The knowledge about the nature of the Supreme being is situated in the hearts of all beings and in the senses of all beings. By increasing the knowledge related to sepreme being through Havi, heal our ears and eyes. May we be in tune with the pace of life. (1)
त्वम॑ग्ने व्रत॒पा अ॑सि दे॒व आ मर्त्ये॒ष्वा । त्वं य॒ज्ञेष्वीड्यः॑ ॥ (१)

हे अग्नि! तुम यज्ञकर्मो का पालन करने वाली हो. तुम मनुष्यों में जठराग्नि के रूप में सभी ओर व्याप्त हो. तुम दर्श, पौर्णमास आदि यज्ञों की स्तुति के योग्य हो. (१)

O agni! You are going to follow the sacrifice. You are everywhere in the form of gastritis in humans. You are worthy of praising yajnas like Darshan, Pournamas etc. (1)
वाङ्म॑ आ॒सन्न॒सोः प्रा॒णश्चक्षु॑र॒क्ष्णोः श्रोत्रं॒ कर्ण॑योः । अप॑लिताः॒ केशा॒ अशो॑णा॒ दन्ता॑ ब॒हु बा॒ह्वोर्बल॑म् ॥ (१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
मेरे मुख में वाणी हो. मेरी नासिका में प्राण रहें. मेरी आंखों में देखने की शक्ति रहे. मेरे कानों में सुनने की शक्ति हो. मेरे केश श्वेत न हों. मेरे दांत कभी न टूटें. मेरी भुजाओं में अधिक बल रहे. (१)

Speak in my mouth. Stay alive in my nostrils. May my eyes have the power to see. May my ears have the power to hear. My hair should not be white. Never break my teeth. There was more force in my arms. (1)
त॒नूस्त॒न्वा मे सहे द॒तः सर्व॒मायु॑रशीय । स्यो॒नं मे॑ सीद पु॒रुः पृ॑णस्व॒ पव॑मानः स्व॒र्गे ॥ (१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
मैं जीवनभर अपने दांतों से खाता रहं. मैं शत्रुओं को अपने शरीर से दबाने में समर्थ रहूं. हे अग्नि! तुम मेरे घर में सुख से प्रतिष्ठित रहो. तुम स्वर्ग में भी मुझे सुख से संपन्न बनाओ. (१)
EN English Translation
I eat with my teeth all my life. I am able to suppress enemies with my body. O agni! May you be distinguished by happiness in my home. You make me happy even in heaven. (1)
प्रि॒यं मा॑ कृणु दे॒वेषु॑ प्रि॒यं राज॑सु मा कृणु । प्रि॒यं सर्व॑स्य॒ पश्य॑त उ॒त शू॒द्र उ॒तार्ये॑ ॥ (१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अग्नि! तुम मुझे देवों का प्रिय बनाओ. मुझे राजाओं का भी प्रिय करो. मैं सभी देखने वालों का, शूट्रों का और आर्यो का प्रिय बनूं. अर्थात् सब का प्रिय बनूं. (१)
EN English Translation
O agni! You make me dear to the gods. Make me dear to kings too. May I be dear to all the onlookers, shoots and Aryans. That is, be the beloved of everyone. (1)
उत्ति॑ष्ठ ब्रह्मणस्पते दे॒वान्य॒ज्ञेन॑ बोधय । आयुः॑ प्रा॒णं प्र॒जां प॒शून्की॒र्तिं यज॑मानं च वर्धय ॥ (१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे ब्रह्मणस्पति! उठो और देवों को मेरे यज्ञों का ज्ञान कराओ. तुम इस यजमान की आयु, प्राण, प्रजा, पशु तथा कीर्ति को बढ़ाओ. तुम इस यजमान की वृद्धि करो. (१)
EN English Translation
O Brahmanaspati! Get up and make the gods know about my sacrifices. Increase the life, soul, people, animals and fame of this host. You increase this host. (1)
अग्ने॑ स॒मिध॒माहा॑र्षं बृह॒ते जा॒तवे॑दसे । स मे॑ श्र॒द्धां च॑ मे॒धां च॑ जा॒तवे॑दाः॒ प्र य॑च्छतु ॥ (१)

मैं महान और जातवेद अग्नि के लिए प्रज्वलित होने का साधन समिधाएं लाया हूं. समिधाओं से वृद्धि को प्राप्त जातवेद अग्नि मुझे श्रद्धा और बुद्धि प्रदान करें. (१)
EN English Translation
I have brought samidhas, the means of ignition, for the great and jataveda agni. May the Jataveda agni give me reverence and wisdom to get growth from the samidhas. (1)
हरिः॑ सुप॒र्णो दिव॒मारु॑हो॒ऽर्चिषा॒ ये त्वा॒ दिप्स॑न्ति॒ दिव॑मु॒त्पत॑न्तम् । अव॒ तां ज॑हि॒ हर॑सा जातवे॒दोऽबि॑भ्यदु॒ग्रोऽर्चिषा॒ दिव॒मा रो॑ह सूर्य ॥ (१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे सूर्य! तुम अंधकार का नाश करने वाले तथा उत्तम पालन वाले हो. तुम अपने तेज से द्युलोक अर्थात् आकाश पर बढ़ते हो. आकाश पर चटठ़ते हुए तुम को जो शत्रु तिरस्कृत करना चाहते हैं, हे जातवेद सूर्य! उन्हें तुम अपने शत्रु विनाशक तेज से नष्ट करो. इस के पश्चात शत्रुओं से भयभीत न होते हुए तुम अपने तेज से आकाश में स्थित बनो. EN English Translation
O sun! You are the destroyer of darkness and the best-keeper. You grow on the sky with your glory. The enemies who want to despise you while shining on the sky, O Jataveda Sun! Destroy them you with your enemy destroyer sharp. After this, do not be afraid of enemies, you should be located in the sky with your glory. (1)
अयो॑जाला॒ असु॑रा मा॒यिनो॑ऽय॒स्मयैः॒ पाशै॑र॒ङ्किनो॒ ये चर॑न्ति । तांस्ते॑ रन्धयामि॒ हर॑सा जातवेदः स॒हस्रऋ॑ष्टिः स॒पत्ना॑न्प्रमृ॒णन्पा॑हि॒ वज्रः॑ ॥ (१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे जातवेद सूर्य! जो मायावी असुर लोहे का जाल ले कर तथा लोहे के बने फंदे हाथ में ले कर उत्तम कर्म करने वालों को मारने के लिए घूमते हैं, उन्हें मैं तुम्हारे तेज के द्वारा अपने वश में करता हूं. हे हजार संख्या वाले आयुधों से युक्त तथा वज्रधारी! तुम शत्रुओं को अधिक मात्रा में नष्ट करो तथा हमारा पालन करो. O Jataveda Sun! I subdue the elusive asuras who carry iron nets and carry iron traps in their hands to kill those who do good deeds. O thousand number of weapons and thunderbolts! Destroy the enemies in excess and follow us. (1)

O sun! Let's watch for a hundred years. (1)
येन॑ दे॒वं स॑वि॒तारं॒ परि॑ दे॒वा अधा॑रयन् । तेने॒मं ब्र॑ह्मणस्पते॒ परि॑ रा॒ष्ट्राय॑ धत्तन ॥ (१)

इंद्र आदि देवों ने सब के प्रेरक आदि देव को जिस कारण चारों ओर से घेर लिया था. उस कारण से हे शत्रु विनाशकर्ता ब्रह्मणस्पति! महा शांति का प्रयोग करने वाले इस यजमान को राजा बनाओ. (१)

Indra adi devs surrounded adi dev, the motivator of all, due to which. For that reason, O enemy destroyer Brahmanaspati! Make this host who uses great peace a king. (1)
अव्य॑सश्च॒ व्यच॑सश्च॒ बिलं॒ वि ष्या॑मि मा॒यया॑ । ताभ्या॑मु॒द्धृत्य॒ वेद॒मथ॒ कर्मा॑णि कृण्महे ॥ (१)

I elaborate on the basic basis of vyan vayu and personally pervading prana vayu in everyone's bodies through karma. We perform yajna karma by directing the lettering Vedas in the order of para, pashyanti and vaikhari vaanis through those vyan and prana vayu. (1)
