Kanda 5 • Sukta 19
अ॑तिमा॒त्रम॑वर्धन्त॒ नोदि॑व॒ दिव॑मस्पृशन् । भृगुं॑ हिंसि॒त्वा सृञ्ज॑या वैतह॒व्याः परा॑भवन् ॥ (१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
सृंजय के पुत्र एवं वीतहव्य के वंशजों की बहुत वृद्धि हुई. उन्होंने भृगुवंशी ब्राह्मणों की हत्या कर दी, इसलिए उन की पराजय हुई तथा वे स्वर्ग को नहीं पा सके. (१)
EN English Translation
The sons of Srinjaya and the descendants of Veethavya grew greatly. They killed the Bhriguvanshi Brahmins, so they were defeated and could not find heaven. (1)
ये बृ॒हत्सा॑मानमाङ्गिर॒समार्प॑यन्ब्राह्म॒णं जनाः॑ । पेत्व॒स्तेषा॑मुभ॒याद॒मवि॑स्तो॒कान्या॑वयत् ॥ (२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जिन लोगों ने बृहत् साम वाले अंगिरा गोत्री ब्राह्मणों को आपत्तियों और विपत्तियों से ढक दिया था, ब्रह्मा ने उन्हें ऐसा पुत्र दिया जो उन्हें नष्ट करने वाला था. देवों ने उन की संतान को दूर फेंक दिया. (२)
EN English Translation
Those who had covered the Angira gotri Brahmins with great sama with objections and plagues, Brahma gave them a son who was going to destroy them. The devas threw away their children. (2)
ये ब्रा॑ह्म॒णं प्र॒त्यष्ठी॑व॒न्ये वा॑स्मिञ्छु॒ल्कमी॑षि॒रे । अ॒स्नस्ते॒ मध्ये॑ कु॒ल्यायाः॒ केशा॒न्खाद॑न्त आसते ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जिन्होंने ब्राह्मणों पर थूका और जिन्होंने ब्राह्मणों से धन लेने की इच्छा की, वे रक्त की सरिता में पड़े हैं और बालों को खा रहे हैं. (३)
EN English Translation
Those who spat on Brahmins and those who wished to take money from Brahmins are lying in a stream of blood and eating hair. (3)
ब्र॑ह्मग॒वी प॒च्यमा॑ना॒ याव॒त्साभि वि॒जङ्ग॑हे । तेजो॑ रा॒ष्ट्रस्य॒ निर्ह॑न्ति॒ न वी॒रो जा॑यते॒ वृषा॑ ॥ (४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
ब्राह्मण की पकाई जाती हुई गाय जिस राष्ट्र में तड़पती है, वह उस राष्ट्र का तेज समाप्त कर देती है और उस में वीर्य को सींचने वाले वीर पुरुष जन्म नहीं लेते. (४)
EN English Translation
The nation in which the brahmin's cooked cow suffers, it ends the glory of that nation and in it, brave men who water semen are not born. (4)
क्रू॒रम॑स्या आ॒शस॑नं तृ॒ष्टं पि॑शि॒तम॑स्यते । क्षी॒रं यद॑स्याः पी॒यते॒ तद्वै पि॒तृषु॒ किल्बि॑षम् ॥ (५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
ब्राह्मण की गाय को काटना क्रूर कर्म है. इस का मांस खाने के बाद प्यास प्यास करता है. जो लोग मारने की इच्छा से रखी हुई ऐसी गाय का दूध पीते हैं, उन के पितरों को वह दूध पाप का भागी बनाता है. (५)
EN English Translation
Slaughtering a Brahmin's cow is a cruel deed. After eating the meat of this, thirst makes thirst. Those who drink the milk of such a cow kept with the desire to kill, that milk makes their ancestors a part of sin. (5)
उ॒ग्रो राजा॒ मन्य॑मानो ब्राह्म॒णं यो जिघ॑त्सति । परा॒ तत्सि॑च्यते रा॒ष्ट्रं ब्रा॑ह्म॒णो यत्र॑ जी॒यते॑ ॥ (६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जो राजा अपनेआप को उग्र मानता हुआ ब्राह्मण की हत्या करता है एवं ब्राह्मण जिस राज्य में दुःखी रहता है, वह राजा और राष्ट्र दोनों समाप्त हो जाते हैं. (६)
EN English Translation
The king who considers himself fierce and kills the Brahmin and the state in which the Brahmin remains unhappy, both the king and the nation are finished. (6)
अ॒ष्टाप॑दी चतुर॒क्षी चतुः॑श्रोत्रा॒ चतु॑र्हनुः । द्व्या॑स्या॒ द्विजि॑ह्वा भू॒त्वा सा रा॒ष्ट्रमव॑ धूनुते ब्रह्म॒ज्यस्य॑ ॥ (७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
राजा के द्वारा ब्राह्मण पर डाली गई विपत्ति आठ पैरों, चार आंखों, चार कानों, चार ठोड़ियों, दो मुखों और दो जीभों वाली राक्षसी बन कर उन के राज्य को समाप्त कर देती है. (७)
EN English Translation
The calamity cast on the Brahmin by the king ends his kingdom by becoming a demon with eight legs, four eyes, four ears, four chins, two faces and two tongues. (7)
तद्वै रा॒ष्ट्रमा स्र॑वति॒ नावं॑ भि॒न्नामि॑वोद॒कम् । ब्र॒ह्माणं॒ यत्र॒ हिंस॑न्ति॒ तद्रा॒ष्ट्रं ह॑न्ति दु॒च्छुना॑ ॥ (८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जिस राष्ट्र में ब्राह्मण की हिंसा होती है, उस राष्ट्र का ब्रह्मरूपी पाप उसे छेद वाली नौका के साथ डुबा देता है. ब्राह्मण पर डाली गई विपत्ति ही उस राष्ट्र को डुबा देती है. (८)
EN English Translation
In a nation where there is violence of a Brahmin, the sin of brahman-like of that nation drowns it with a boat with holes. It is the calamity cast on the Brahmin that sinks that nation. (8)
तं वृ॒क्षा अप॑ सेधन्ति च्छा॒यां नो॒ मोप॑गा॒ इति॑ । यो ब्रा॑ह्म॒णस्य॒ सद्धन॑म॒भि ना॑रद॒ मन्य॑ते ॥ (९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे नारद! जो ब्राह्मण के धन को अपना धन समझता है, उस से वृक्ष भी द्वेष मानते हैं और उसे अपनी छाया में नहीं आने देना चाहते. (९)
EN English Translation
O Narada! Trees also consider the brahmin's wealth as their wealth and do not want it to come under their shadow. (9)
वि॒षमे॒तद्दे॒वकृ॑तं॒ राजा॒ वरु॑णोऽब्रवीत् । न ब्रा॑ह्म॒णस्य॒ गां ज॒ग्ध्वा रा॒ष्ट्रे जा॑गार॒ कश्च॒न ॥ (१०)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
राजा वरुण ने कहा है कि ब्राह्मण का धन देवों द्वारा निर्मित विष ही है. ब्राह्मण की गाय को मार कर राष्ट्र में कोई भी जीवित नहीं रहता. (१०)
EN English Translation
King Varuna has said that the wealth of a Brahmin is the poison created by the gods. No one survives in the nation by killing a Brahmin's cow. (10)
नवै॒व ता न॑व॒तयो॒ या भूमि॒र्व्य॑धूनुत । प्र॒जां हिं॑सि॒त्वा ब्राह्म॑णीमसंभ॒व्यं परा॑भवन् ॥ (११)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जिन आठ सौ दस पुरुषों से धरती कांपती थी, वे ब्राह्मण की संतान की हिंसा कर के असंभव पराजय को प्राप्त हुए. (११)
EN English Translation
The eight hundred and ten men from whom the earth trembled, they attained the impossible defeat by violence against the brahmin's children. (11)
यां मृ॒ताया॑नुब॒ध्नन्ति॑ कू॒द्यं॑ पद॒योप॑नीम् । तद्वै ब्र॑ह्मज्य ते दे॒वा उ॑प॒स्तर॑णमब्रुवन् ॥ (१२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे ब्राह्मण को हानि पहुंचाने वाले पुरुष! जो रस्सी मरे हुए पुरुष के शव में बांधी जाती है, उसी से देवों ने तेरा बिछौना बनाया है. (१२)
EN English Translation
O man who harms the Brahmin! The rope that is tied in the body of a dead man, from that the gods have made your bed. (12)
अश्रू॑णि॒ कृप॑माणस्य॒ यानि॑ जी॒तस्य॑ वावृ॒तुः । तं वै ब्र॑ह्मज्य ते दे॒वा अ॒पां भा॒गम॑धारयन् ॥ (१३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे ब्राह्मण को हानि पहुंचाने वाले पुरुष! कृपा के पात्र ब्राह्मणों के आंसुओं का जो जल होता है, वही जल देवों ने तेरे लिए निश्चित किया है. (१३)
EN English Translation
O man who harms the Brahmin! The water of the tears of brahmins, the vessels of grace, the same water has been fixed for you by the gods. (13)
येन॑ मृ॒तं स्न॒पय॑न्ति॒ श्मश्रू॑णि॒ येनो॒न्दते॑ । तं वै ब्र॑ह्मज्य ते दे॒वा अ॒पां भा॒गम॑धारयन् ॥ (१४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे ब्राह्मण को हानि पहुंचाने वाले पुरुष! जो जल मृतक को स्नान करने के लिए एवं मूंछें भिगोने से बचता है, वही जल देवों ने तेरे पीने के लिए निश्चित किया है. (१४)
EN English Translation
O man who harms the Brahmin! The water that avoids bathing the deceased and soaking the moustache, the same water has been fixed by the gods for you to drink. (14)
न व॒र्षं मै॑त्रावरु॒णं ब्र॑ह्म॒ज्यम॒भि व॑र्षति । नास्मै॒ समि॑तिः कल्पते॒ न मि॒त्रं न॑यते॒ वश॑म् ॥ (१५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जिस राज्य में ब्राह्मण को दुःख दिया जाता है, उस में वरुण वर्षा नहीं करते. उस राष्ट्र की सभा सामर्थ्य हीन होती है तथा उस की सेना शत्रुओं को वश में नहीं रख पाती है. (१५)
EN English Translation
In a state where a Brahmin is hurt, Varuna does not rain. The assembly of that nation is powerless and its army is not able to control the enemies. (15)
