अन्त॑काय मृ॒त्यवे॒ नमः॑ प्रा॒णा अ॑पा॒ना इ॒ह ते॑ रमन्ताम् । इ॒हायम॑स्तु॒ पुरु॑षः स॒हासु॑ना॒ सूर्य॑स्य भा॒गे अ॒मृत॑स्य लो॒के ॥ (१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
सभी प्राणियों का विनाश करने वाले मृत्यु को नमस्कार है. हे ब्रह्मचारी! प्राण और अपान वायु तेरे शरीर में रमण करें. यह पुरुष प्राणों से युक्त हो. यह सूर्य प्रदेश में, भूलोक में एवं अमृतलोक में वर्तमान रहे. (१)
EN English Translation
Salutations to death, which destroys all beings. O brahmachari! May prana and apana vayu delight in your body. This man is full of life. This sun should be present in the region, in the earth and in the amritlok. (1)
उदे॑नं॒ भगो॑ अग्रभी॒दुदे॑नं॒ सोमो॑ अंशु॒मान् । उदे॑नं म॒रुतो॑ दे॒वा उदि॑न्द्रा॒ग्नी स्व॒स्तये॑ ॥ (२)

भग नामक अदिति पुत्र ने इस मूर्च्छित पुरुष का उद्धार किया है. अमृतमयी किरणों से सोम ने इस का उद्धार किया है. मरुत् देवों ने एवं अग्ने ने क्षेम के लिए इस का उद्धार किया है. (२)
EN English Translation
Aditi's son named Bhaga has saved this foolish man. Soma has saved it with nectar rays. The desert gods and agni have saved it for the sake of suffering. (2)
इ॒ह तेऽसु॑रि॒ह प्रा॒ण इ॒हायु॑रि॒ह ते॒ मनः॑ । उत्त्वा॒ निरृ॑त्याः॒ पाशे॑भ्यो॒ दैव्या॑ व॒चा भ॑रामसि ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे आयु की कामना करने वाले पुरुष! तेरी प्राण वायु एवं चक्षु आदि इंद्रियां तेरे शरीर में निवास करें. तेरी आयु एवं मन भी तेरे इसी शरीर में रहें. हम निर्ति नामक पाप देवता के बंधनों से अपने मंत्रों द्वारा तेरा उद्धार करते हैं. (३)
EN English Translation
O men wishing for age! May your life, air and eyes reside in your body. May your life and mind also remain in your body. We save you through our mantras from the bonds of the sin god named Nirti. (3)
उत्क्रा॒मातः॑ पुरुष॒ माव॑ पत्था मृ॒त्योः पड्वी॑षमवमु॒ञ्चमा॑नः । मा च्छि॑त्था अ॒स्माल्लो॒काद॒ग्नेः सूर्य॑स्य सं॒दृशः॑ ॥ (४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे पुरुष! तू मृत्यु के उन पाशों से छूट जा एवं पतन से बच. मृत्युदेव के पाश तेरे पैरों को बांधने वाले हैं. तू उन्हें काटता हुआ भूलोक से अलग मत हो. तू अग्नि और सूर्य का दर्शन करने के लिए इस लोक में रह. (४)
EN English Translation
O man! Get rid of those loops of death and avoid fall. The loops of the death god are going to bind your feet. Do not separate them from the earth while cutting them. You stay in this world to see the agni and the sun. (4)
तुभ्यं॒ वातः॑ पवतां मात॒रिश्वा॒ तुभ्यं॑ वर्षन्त्व॒मृता॒न्यापः॑ । सूर्य॑स्ते त॒न्वे॒ शं त॑पाति॒ त्वां मृ॒त्युर्द॑यतां॒ मा प्र मे॑ष्ठाः ॥ (५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे मरण के समीप पहुंचे हुए पुरुष! वायु तेरे सुख के लिए चले. जल तेरे लिए अमृत की वर्षा करे. सूर्य देव तेरे शरीर को सुख देने के लिए तपें. हे पुरुष! मृत्यु देव तुझ पर दया करें. (५)
EN English Translation
O men who have come near death! Let the wind go for your happiness. May the water rain nectar for you. May the Sun God heat up to give happiness to your body. O man! May death god have mercy on you. (5)
उ॒द्यानं॑ ते पुरुष॒ नाव॒यानं॑ जी॒वातुं॑ ते॒ दक्ष॑तातिं कृणोमि । आ हि रोहे॒मम॒मृतं॑ सु॒खं रथ॒मथ॒ जिर्वि॑र्वि॒दथ॒मा व॑दासि ॥ (६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे पुरुष! मैं तेरे जीवन के लिए ओषधियों का निर्माण करता हूं तथा तुझे बल प्रदान करता हूं. मृत्यु के पाशों से तेरा छुटकारा हो, तू उन पाशों में न फंसे. तू समाप्त न होने वाले तथा इंद्रिय सुख के अनुकूल शरीर रूपी रथ पर बैठ. इस शरीर रूपी रथ पर बैठ कर तू कह कि मुझे चेतना प्राप्त हो गई है. (६)
EN English Translation
O man! I build medicines for your life and give you strength. Let you get rid of the traps of death, do not fall into those loops. You sit on the chariot of the body that is not ending and suited to sense happiness. Sitting on this body chariot, you say that I have attained consciousness. (6)
मा ते॒ मन॒स्तत्र॑ गा॒न्मा ति॒रो भू॒न्मा जी॒वेभ्यः॒ प्र म॑दो॒ मानु॑ गाः पि॒तॄन् । विश्वे॑ दे॒वा अ॒भि र॑क्षन्तु त्वे॒ह ॥ (७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
तेरा मन यमराज के विषय में न जाए तथा तेरा मन विलीन भी न हो. तू अपने बंधुओं के प्रति असावधान न रहे. तू मरे हुए पूर्वजों का अनुगमन मत कर. इंद्र आदि देव इसी शरीर में तेरा पालन करें. (७)
EN English Translation
Your mind should not go about Yamraj and your mind should not merge. Do not be careless about your brothers. Don't follow the dead ancestors. Indra Adi Dev follow you in this body. (7)
मा ग॒ताना॒मा दी॑धीथा॒ ये नय॑न्ति परा॒वत॑म् । आ रो॑ह॒ तम॑सो॒ ज्योति॒रेह्या ते॒ हस्तौ॑ रभामहे ॥ (८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
तू पितृलोक में गए हुओं के मार्ग का ध्यान मत कर तथा मृत पूर्वजों के लिए मत रो. मरे हुए लोग तुझे भी यहां से दूर देश में ले जाएंगे. तू अंधकार को त्याग कर प्रकाश में स्थित हो. हम अंधकार से प्रकाश में ले जाने के लिए तेरे हाथ पकड़ते हैं. (८)
EN English Translation
Do not meditate on the path of those who have gone to the fatherland and do not cry for the dead ancestors. The dead will also take you away from here to the country. You are giving up darkness and are situated in the light. We hold your hands to take you from darkness to light. (8)
श्या॒मश्च॑ त्वा॒ मा श॒बल॑श्च॒ प्रेषि॑तौ य॒मस्य॒ यौ प॑थि॒रक्षी॒ श्वानौ॑ । अ॒र्वाङेहि॒ मा वि दी॑ध्यो॒ मात्र॑ तिष्ठः॒ परा॑ङ्मनाः ॥ (९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे मरने के समीप पहुंचे हुए पुरुष! यमराज के मार्ग के रक्षक दो कुत्ते हैं- एक काला और दूसरा चितकबरा. वे दोनों तुझे बाधा न पहुंचाएं. कुत्तों के काटने से बच कर तू हमारी ओर आ. तू मृत पुरुषों का ध्यान मत कर तथा इसी भूलोक में निवास करता हुआ एक बार भी वहां से विमुख मत हो. (९)
EN English Translation
O men who are near to death! The protectors of Yamraj's path are two dogs – one black and the other mottled. Don't let them both hinder you. Do not pay attention to dead men and do not turn away from there even once while living in this land. (9)
मैतं पन्था॒मनु॑ गा भी॒म ए॒ष येन॒ पूर्वं॒ नेयथ॒ तं ब्र॑वीमि । तम॑ ए॒तत्पु॑रुष॒ मा प्र प॑त्था भ॒यं प॒रस्ता॒दभ॑यं ते अ॒र्वाक् ॥ (१०)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे प्राणहीन पुरुष! तू मरे हुए लोगों के मार्ग पर गमन मत कर. वह मार्ग भयानक है. मैं तुझे उस मार्ग के विषय में बताता हूं, जिस मार्ग से लोग मृत्यु से पूर्व नहीं जाते हैं. तू इस मृत्युरूपी अंधकार में प्रवेश मत कर, क्योंकि यमराज की नगरी में प्रवेश करने पर भय प्रतीत होता है. हमारी ओर आने में तुझे अभय मिलेगा. (१०)
EN English Translation
O soulless man! Don't go the way of the dead. That route is terrible. I tell you about the way people do not go before death. Do not enter this darkness of death, because there is fear when you enter the city of Yamraj. You will get protection in coming towards us. (10)
रक्ष॑न्तु त्वा॒ग्नयो॒ ये अ॒प्स्वन्ता रक्ष॑तु त्वा मनु॒ष्या॒ यमि॒न्धते॑ । वै॑श्वान॒रो र॑क्षतु जा॒तवे॑दा दि॒व्यस्त्वा॒ मा प्र धा॑ग्वि॒द्युता॑ स॒ह ॥ (११)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जल के मध्य में जो वाडव आदि अन्नियां हैं, वे तेरी रक्षा करें. मनुष्य यज्ञ करने के लिए अथवा भोजन पकाने के लिए जिन अग्नियों को जलाते हैं, वे तेरी रक्षा करें. जन्म लेने वालों को जानने वाले जठराग्नि देव तेरी रक्षा करें. आकाश की बिजली तेरे शरीर के साथ रहती हुई तुझे भस्म न करे. (११)
EN English Translation
May the vadavas etc. in the middle of the water protect you. May the agnis that humans burn to perform yajna or to cook food protect you. May the jatharagni god, who knows those who are born, protect you. The lightning of the sky should not consume you while living with your body. (11)
मा त्वा॑ क्र॒व्याद॒भि मं॑स्ता॒रात्संक॑सुकाच्चर॒ । रक्ष॑तु त्वा॒ द्यौ रक्ष॑तु पृ॑थि॒वी सूर्य॑श्च त्वा॒ रक्ष॑तां च॒न्द्रमा॑श्च । अ॒न्तरि॑क्षं रक्षतु देवहे॒त्याः ॥ (१२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
मांस का नाश करने वाली अग्ने तुझे अपना आहार बनाने का विचार न करे. तू सब का भक्षण करने वाली अग्नि से दूर देश में विचरण कर. पृथ्वी, आकाश, सूर्य, चंद्रमा तथा अंतरिक्ष देव के आयुध से तेरी रक्षा करें. (१२)
EN English Translation
Don't think of making you your diet. Wander away from the agni that devours you all in the land. Protect you from the armament of earth, sky, sun, moon and space god. (12)
बो॒धश्च॑ त्वा प्रतीबो॒धश्च॑ रक्षतामस्व॒प्नश्च॑ त्वानवद्रा॒णश्च॑ रक्षताम् । गो॑पा॒यंश्च॑ त्वा॒ जागृ॑विश्च रक्षताम् ॥ (१३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
गोबोध और प्रतिबोध नामक ऋषि तेरी रक्षा करें. स्वप्न न देखने वाला, निद्रा न लेने वाला, सदा शरीर की रक्षा करने वाला तथा जागने वाला देव - ये सब तेरी रक्षा करें. (१३)
EN English Translation
May sages called Gobodh and Pratibodh protect you. God who does not dream, does not sleep, always protects the body and wakes up - may all this protect you. (13)
ते त्वा॑ रक्षन्तु॒ ते त्वा॑ गोपायन्तु॒ तेभ्यो॒ नम॒स्तेभ्यः॒ स्वाहा॑ ॥ (१४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
बोध आदि तेरा पालन करें और तेरी रक्षा करें. उन बोध आदि को नमस्कार है. यह हवि उन के लिए उत्तम आहुति वाला हो. (१४)
EN English Translation
Obey you and protect you. Salutations to those realizations etc. May this be a great sacrifice for them. (14)
जी॒वेभ्य॑स्त्वा स॒मुदे॑ वा॒युरिन्द्रो॑ धा॒ता द॑धातु सवि॒ता त्राय॑माणः । मा त्वा॑ प्रा॒णो बलं॑ हासी॒दसुं॒ तेऽनु॑ ह्वयामसि ॥ (१५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जीवनोपयोगी इंद्रियों के लिए एवं पुत्र, पत्नी, दास आदि की प्रसन्नता के लिए वायु, इंद्र, धाता एवं सविता तुझे मृत्यु से छीन कर हमें प्रदान करें. तेरी रक्षा करते हुए सविता देव तेरे प्राणों और शरीर के बल को तुझ से न छीनें. मैं तेरे प्राणों के अनुकूल उन का आह्वान करता हूं. (१५)
EN English Translation
For the life-saving senses and for the happiness of son, wife, slave etc., may Vayu, Indra, Dhata and Savita take you away from death and give it to us. While protecting you, Savita Dev should not take away the strength of your life and body from you. I call upon them to suit your life. (15)
मा त्वा॑ ज॒म्भः संह॑नु॒र्मा तमो॑ विद॒न्मा जि॒ह्वा ब॒र्हिः प्र॑म॒युः क॒था स्याः॑ । उत्त्वा॑दि॒त्या वस॑वो भर॒न्तूदि॑न्द्रा॒ग्नी स्व॒स्तये॑ ॥ (१६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे पुरुष! तुझे भक्षण करने के लिए मिले हुए दांतों वाला जंभ असुर न आए. अज्ञान अथवा अंधकार भी तुझे प्राप्त न करे. तेरी विस्तृत जीभ राक्षसों का वर्णन न करे. जिस प्रकार तू हिंसा रहित बने, उसे जंभ असुर न जाने. अदिति पुत्र देव तुझे मृत्यु से छुड़ाएं. आठ वसु इंद्र और अग्नि कल्याण के लिए तेरा उद्धार करें. (१६)
EN English Translation
O man! Do not come to asura with teeth mixed to feed you. Do not get you even ignorance or darkness. Don't let your wide tongue describe demons. The way you become free from violence, do not know it ashambh asur. Aditi son Dev, save you from death. Save you for the welfare of eight Vasus Indra and Agni. (16)
उत्त्वा॒ द्यौरुत्पृ॑थि॒व्युत्प्र॒जाप॑तिरग्रभीत् । उत्त्वा॑ मृ॒त्योरोष॑धयः॒ सोम॑राज्ञीरपीपरन् ॥ (१७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
द्यौ देवता एवं पृथ्वी तेरा भरणपोषण करें. सभी देवों के पिता प्रजापति ने तेरा उद्धार किया था. सोम की पत्नियों और जड़ीबूटियों ने मृत्यु से तुझे छुड़ाया था. (१७)
EN English Translation
May the gods and the earth feed you. Prajapati, the father of all gods, saved you. Som's wives and herbs rescued you from death. (17)
अ॒यं दे॑वा इ॒हैवास्त्व॒यं मामुत्र॑ गादि॒तः । इ॒मं स॒हस्र॑वीर्येण मृ॒त्योरुत्पा॑रयामसि ॥ (१८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे आदित्य आदि देवो! यह पुरुष यहीं भूलोक में रहे. यह पुरुष इस भूलोक से स्वर्ग में न जाए. हम रक्षा करने वाले तुझ पुरुष को असीमित शक्ति के रक्षा विधान द्वारा मृत्यु से छीनते हैं. (१८)
EN English Translation
O Aditya Adi Devo! These men stayed here in the land. This man should not go to heaven from this land. We take away the protector of your man from death by the law of protection of unlimited power. (18)
उत्त्वा॑ मृ॒त्योर॑पीपरं॒ सं ध॑मन्तु वयो॒धसः॑ । मा त्वा॑ व्यस्तके॒श्यो॒ मा त्वा॑घ॒रुदो॑ रुदन् ॥ (१९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे आयु की कामना करने वाले पुरुष! अन्न के देव धाता तुझे मृत्यु से बचाएं एवं तेरा उद्धार करें. बिखरे हुए केशों वाले बांधव एवं नारियां तेरी मृत्यु पर न रोऐं. तेरे संबंधी दुःख के कारण न रोएं. (१९)
EN English Translation
O men wishing for age! May the God of food save you from death and save you. Do not cry over your death, do not cry over your death. Do not cry because of your relative's sorrow. (19)
आहा॑र्ष॒मवि॑दं त्वा॒ पुन॒रागाः॒ पुन॑र्णवः । सर्वा॑ङ्ग॒ सर्वं॑ ते॒ चक्षुः॒ सर्व॒मायु॑श्च तेऽविदम् ॥ (२०)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे मृत्यु के द्वारा पकड़े हुए पुरुष! मैं ने तुझे मृत्यु से छीन लिया है और इस प्रकार तुझे प्राप्त किया है. हे पुनः जन्म लेने वाले! तू संसार में दुबारा आया है. हे संपूर्ण अंगों वाले! तेरी चक्षु आदि इंद्रियां अपनेअपने विषय का प्रकाशन करने वाली हों. मैं ने तेरी सौ वर्ष की आयु प्राप्त कर ली है. (२०)
EN English Translation
O man caught by death! I have taken you away from death and thus gained you. O one who is born again! You have come into the world again. O full limbs! Your eyes, etc., the senses should be the ones that illuminate their own subject. I have attained your hundred years of age. (20)
व्यवात्ते॒ ज्योति॑रभू॒दप॒ त्वत्तमो॑ अक्रमीत् । अप॒ त्वन्मृ॒त्युं निरृ॑ति॒मप॒ यक्ष्मं॒ नि द॑ध्मसि ॥ (२१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अचेतन पुरुष! तेरी अचेतना निकल गई है. तुझे जीवनरूपी प्रकाश प्राप्त हो गया है. मैं ने तुझ से मृत्यु की देवता निर्त्रति को दूर कर दिया है. मैं तेरे बाहरी और आंतरिक रोगों का भी विनाश करता हूं. (२१)
EN English Translation
O unconscious man! Your unconsciousness has gone. You have received the light of life. I have removed from you the disinformation of the god of death. I also destroy your external and internal diseases. (21)
