साह॒स्रस्त्वे॒ष ऋ॑ष॒भः पय॑स्वा॒न्विश्वा॑ रू॒पाणि॑ व॒क्षणा॑सु॒ बिभ्र॑त् । भ॒द्रं दा॒त्रे यज॑मानाय शिक्षन्बार्हस्प॒त्य उ॒स्रिय॒स्तन्तु॒माता॑न् ॥ (१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
यह शक्तिशाली वृषभ अर्थात् बैल हजारों गायों को गर्भिणी बनाने में समर्थ है. यह अपनी वीर्यवाहिनी नाड़ियों में अनेक रूप धारण करता है. बृहस्पति संबंधी मंत्रों से युक्त यह बैल गायों के योग्य है. यह दान देने वाले यजमान का मंगल करता हुआ अपनी संतान की वृद्धि करे. (१)
EN English Translation
This powerful Taurus i.e. bull is capable of making thousands of cows pregnant. It takes many forms in its semen vessels. This bull with Jupiter-related mantras is worthy of cows. May it increase your child by thanking the donor host. (1)
अ॒पां यो अग्ने॑ प्रति॒मा ब॒भूव॑ प्र॒भूः सर्व॑स्मै पृथि॒वीव॑ दे॒वी । पि॒ता व॒त्सानां॒ पति॑र॒घ्न्यानां॑ साह॒स्रे पोषे॒ अपि॑ नः कृणोतु ॥ (२)

जो बैल जलों के समान एवं प्रतिमा के समान खड़ा हुआ, जो पृथ्वी के समान सब का स्वामी है, जो बछड़ों का पिता तथा हिंसा न करने योग्य गायों का पति है, वह हमें हजारों प्रकार से संपन्न बनाए. (२)
EN English Translation
The bull that stood like water and like a statue, who is the master of all like the earth, who is the father of calves and the husband of non-violence cows, made us prosperous in thousands of ways. (2)
पुमा॑न॒न्तर्वा॒न्त्स्थवि॑रः॒ पय॑स्वा॒न्वसोः॒ कब॑न्धमृष॒भो बि॑भर्ति । तमिन्द्रा॑य प॒थिभि॑र्देव॒यानै॑र्हु॒तम॒ग्निर्व॑हतु जा॒तवे॑दाः ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
वसु के कबंध को धारण करने वाला यह बैल पुमान अर्थात् नर, आंतरिक शक्ति वाला एवं वीर्ययुक्त है. जन्म लेने वालों को जानने वाले अग्नि देव देवों के मार्ग से हमें इंद्र तक पहुचाएं. (३)
EN English Translation
This bull, which holds the kabandha of Vasu, is puman i.e. male, inner strength and semen. May the agni gods, who know those who are born, take us to Indra through the path of gods. (3)
पि॒ता व॒त्सानां॒ पति॑र॒घ्न्याना॒मथो॑ पि॒ता म॑ह॒तां गर्ग॑राणाम् । व॒त्सो ज॒रायु॑ प्रति॒धुक्पी॒यूष॑ आ॒मिक्षा॑ घृ॒तं तद्व॑स्य॒ रेतः॑ ॥ (४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
बैल बछड़ों का पिता एवं हिंसा के अयोग्य गायों का पति होने के साथ ही गरजने वाले मेघों का पालनकर्ता भी है. इस बैल का वीर्य, बछड़ा, जरायु (जेर) प्रतिधुक, अमृत, आमिक्षा एवं घृत के समान है. (४)
EN English Translation
The bull is the father of calves and the husband of cows unfit for violence, as well as the rearer of thundering clouds. The semen, calf, geria (jer) of this bull are like antidote, nectar, ambition and ghee. (4)
दे॒वानां॑ भा॒ग उ॑पना॒ह ए॒षो॒पां रस॒ ओष॑धीनां घृ॒तस्य॑ । सोम॑स्य भ॒क्षम॑वृणीत श॒क्रो बृ॒हन्नद्रि॑रभव॒द्यच्छरी॑रम् ॥ (५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
यह जड़ीबूटियों का रस जलों एवं घृत का भाग है. उपनय देवों का भाग है. इंद्र ने सोम के भक्षण के लिए अर्थात् सोमरस पीने के लिए पर्वत के समान विशाल शरीर धारण किया था. (५)
EN English Translation
It is part of the juice water and ghee of herbs. Upanaya is part of devas. Indra wore a huge body like a mountain for the eating of Soma i.e. to drink Someras. (5)
सोमे॑न पू॒र्णं क॒लशं॑ बिभर्षि॒ त्वष्टा॑ रू॒पाणां॑ जनि॒ता प॑शू॒नाम् । शि॒वास्ते॑ सन्तु प्रज॒न्व इ॒ह या इ॒मा न्यस्मभ्यं॑ स्वधिते यच्छ॒ या अ॒मूः ॥ (६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे स्वधिति! तुम सोमरस से भरा हुआ कलश धारण करती हो. त्वष्टा पशुओं को आकार देने वाले हैं. जन्म लेने वाले तुम्हारे लिए मंगलकारी हों. तुम अपनी इन संतानों को हमें प्रदान करो. (६)
EN English Translation
O self-respect! You wear an urn full of somers. Skins are the shapers of animals. May those born be auspicious to you. Give us these children of yours. (6)
आज्यं॑ बिभर्ति घृ॒तम॑स्य॒ रेतः॑ साह॒स्रः पोष॒स्तमु॑ य॒ज्ञमा॑हुः । इन्द्र॑स्य रू॒पमृ॑ष॒भो वसा॑नः॒ सो अ॒स्मान्दे॑वाः शि॒व ऐतु॑ द॒त्तः ॥ (७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
यह बैल आज्य अर्थात् यज्ञ के कारण रूप दूध आदि को धारण करता है. घृत इस का वीर्य है. यह जिन सहस्रो पुष्टियों को प्रदान करता है, उन्हीं को यज्ञ कहा जाता है. है देवो! इंद्र का रूप धारण करता हुआ एवं यजमान के द्वारा दिया हुआ यह बैल हमारे लिए शुभ हो. (७)
EN English Translation
This bull wears milk etc. due to ajya i.e. yajna. Disgust is the semen of this. The Sahasro affirmations that it provides are called yajnas. Yes, god! This bull, taking the form of Indra and given by the host, should be auspicious for us. (7)
इन्द्र॒स्यौजो॒ वरु॑णस्य बा॒हू अ॒श्विनो॒रंसौ॑ म॒रुता॑मि॒यं क॒कुत् । बृह॒स्पतिं॒ संभृ॑तमे॒तमा॑हु॒र्ये धीरा॑सः क॒वयो॒ ये म॑नी॒षिणः॑ ॥ (८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जो धीर, मनीषी एवं विद्वान् पुरुष हैं, वे बताते हैं कि इस बैल का ओज अर्थात् बल इंद्र का भाग है, इस के बाहु अर्थात् पैर वरुण के भाग हैं, इस का कंधा अश्विनीकुमारों का भाग है और इस की ठाट मरुतों का भाग है. इस का संभृत बृहस्पति का भाग है. (८)
EN English Translation
Those who are patient, mystic and learned men, they say that the oz of this bull is the part of Indra, its arms i.e. feet are parts of Varuna, its shoulder is part of Ashwinikumaras and its that is part of maruts. It is part of Jupiter. (8)
दैवी॒र्विशः॒ पय॑स्वा॒ना त॑नोषि॒ त्वामिन्द्रं॒ त्वां सर॑स्वन्तमाहुः । स॒हस्रं॒ स एक॑मुखा ददाति॒ यो ब्रा॑ह्म॒ण ऋ॑ष॒भमा॑जु॒होति॑ ॥ (९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे बैल! तू अपने दूध आदि से देवों का विस्तार करता है. तुझे इंद्र एवं सारस्वत कहा गया है. जो ब्राह्मण मंत्रों द्वारा संपन्न होने वाले यज्ञ में बैल का दान करता है, वह एक मुख वाली हजारों गायों के दान का पुण्य प्राप्त करता है. (९)
EN English Translation
O bull! You expand the gods with your milk etc. You have been called Indra and Saraswat. The one who donates the bull in the yajna performed by Brahmin mantras receives the virtue of donating thousands of cows with one face. (9)
बृह॒स्पतिः॑ सवि॒ता ते॒ वयो॑ दधौ॒ त्वष्टु॑र्वा॒योः पर्या॒त्मा त॒ आभृ॑तः । अ॒न्तरि॑क्षे॒ मन॑सा त्वा जुहोमि ब॒र्हिष्टे॒ द्यावा॑पृथि॒वी उ॒भे स्ता॑म् ॥ (१०)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
बृहस्पति एवं सविता ने तेरी आयु को धारण किया है. त्वष्टा एवं वायु ने तेरे संपूर्ण शरीर में आत्मा को धारण किया है. मैं मन से अंतरिक्ष में तेरी आहुति देता हूं. धरती तथा आकाश दोनों तेरे बर्हि अर्थात् कुश हों. (१०)
EN English Translation
Jupiter and Savita have assumed your age. Tvashta and vayu have possessed the soul all over your body. I sacrifice you in space with my heart. Both the earth and the sky are your bers, that is, Kush. (10)
य इन्द्र॑ इव दे॒वेषु॒ गोष्वे॑ति वि॒वाव॑दत् । तस्य॑ ऋष॒भस्याङ्गा॑नि ब्र॒ह्मा सं स्तौ॑तु भ॒द्रया॑ ॥ (११)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जिस प्रकार इंद्र देवों के मध्य में आते हैं, उसी प्रकार यह बैल गर्जन करता हुआ गायों के मध्य जाता है. ब्रह्मा अपनी मंत्रमयी कल्याणी वाणी से इस बैल के अंगों की स्तुति करें. (११)
EN English Translation
Just as Indra comes in the middle of the gods, so this bull roars and goes among the cows. Brahma praise the limbs of this bull with his mantra-loving Kalyani speech. (11)
पा॒र्श्वे आ॑स्ता॒मनु॑मत्या॒ भग॑स्यास्तामनू॒वृजौ॑ । अ॑ष्ठी॒वन्ता॑वब्रवीन्मि॒त्रो ममै॒तौ केव॑ला॒विति॑ ॥ (१२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
इस बैल के पार्श्व अर्थात् दोनों ओर के भाग अनुमति के हैं तथा इस के अनुबृज अर्थात् पीछे चलने वाले भाग अग्नि देव के हैं. मित्र देव ने कहा था कि बैल के केवल टखने मेरे भाग हैं. (१२)
EN English Translation
The sides of this bull i.e. the parts on both sides are allowed and its followers i.e. the parts running behind it belong to Agni Dev. Friend Dev had said that only the ankles of the bull are my parts. (12)
भ॒सदा॑सीदादि॒त्यानां॒ श्रोणी॑ आस्तां॒ बृह॒स्पतेः॑ । पुच्छं॒ वात॑स्य दे॒वस्य॒ तेन॑ धूनो॒त्योष॑धीः ॥ (१३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
बैल की कमर आदित्यों की, पीठ बृहस्पति की तथा पूंछ वायु देव की है. उसी से यह जड़ीबूटियों को कंपित करता है. (१३)
EN English Translation
The bull's waist is of Adityas, the back of Jupiter and the tail of Vayu Dev. With that, it vibrates the herbs. (13)
गुदा॑ आसन्त्सिनीवा॒ल्याः सू॒र्याया॒स्त्वच॑मब्रुवन् । उ॑त्था॒तुर॑ब्रुवन्प॒द ऋ॑ष॒भं यदक॑ल्पयन् ॥ (१४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
बैल की गुदा सिनीवाली अर्थात् अमावस्या का भाग है एवं त्वचा को सूर्य की पत्नी सूर्या का भाग कहा गया है. इस के पैर उत्थाता का भाग कहे गए हैं. इस प्रकार ऋषियों ने बैल की कल्पना की. (१४)
EN English Translation
The bull's anus is part of Siniwali i.e. Amavasya and the skin is called the part of Surya, the wife of the Sun. Its feet are called part of the lift. Thus the sages conceived the bull. (14)
क्रो॒ड आ॑सीज्जामिशं॒सस्य॒ सोम॑स्य॒ क॒लशो॑ धृ॒तः । दे॒वाः सं॒गत्य॒ यत्सर्व॑ ऋष॒भं व्यक॑ल्पयन् ॥ (१५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
बैल की गुदा सिनीवाली का भाग थी तथा धारण किया गया कलश सोम का भाग था. सभी देवों ने एकत्र हो कर इस प्रकार बैल की कल्पना की थी. (१५)
EN English Translation
The bull's anus was part of Siniwali and the kalash held was part of Som. All the gods gathered and imagined the bull in this way. (15)
ते कुष्ठि॑काः स॒रमा॑यै कु॒र्मेभ्यो॑ अदधुः श॒फान् । ऊब॑ध्यमस्य की॒टेभ्यः॑ श्वव॒र्तेभ्यो॑ अधारयन् ॥ (१६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
उन बैलों ने सरमा के लिए कुष्ठिकाओं को तथा कर्मो के लिए खुरों को धारण किया. उन्होंने बैल के ऊपर के भाग को खानों और कीड़ों के लिए धारण किया. (१६)
EN English Translation
Those bulls wore leprosy for Sarma and hooves for deeds. He wore the upper part of the bull for mines and insects. (16)
शृङ्गा॑भ्यां॒ रक्ष॑ ऋष॒त्यव॑र्तिं हन्ति॒ चक्षु॑षा । शृ॒णोति॑ भ॒द्रं कर्णा॑भ्यां॒ गवां॒ यः पति॑र॒घ्न्यः ॥ (१७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जो बैल हिंसा न करने योग्य गायों का पति है, वह अपने सींगों से राक्षसों को तथा नेत्रों से दरिद्रता को दूर भगाता है. वह अपने कानों से कल्याणकारी बातें सुनता है. (१७)
EN English Translation
The bull, which is the husband of non-violence cows, drives away the demons with its horns and poverty from the eyes. He listens to welfare things with his ears. (17)
श॑त॒याजं॒ स य॑जते॒ नैनं॑ दुन्वन्त्य॒ग्नयः॑ । जिन्व॑न्ति॒ विश्वे॒ तं दे॒वा यो ब्रा॑ह्म॒ण ऋ॑ष॒भमा॑जु॒होति॑ ॥ (१८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जो ब्राह्मण बैल का दान करता है, वह शतयाज नामक यज्ञ करने का पुण्य प्राप्त करता है. उसे अग्नि देव संताप नहीं देते और सभी देव उसे संतुष्ट करते हैं. (१८)
EN English Translation
The Brahmin who donates the bull gets the virtue of performing a yajna called Shatayaj. Agni Dev does not give him anger and all the gods satisfy him. (18)
ब्रा॑ह्म॒णेभ्य॑ ऋष॒भं द॒त्त्वा वरी॑यः कृणुते॒ मनः॑ । पुष्टिं॒ सो अ॒घ्न्यानां॒ स्वे गो॒ष्ठेऽव॑ पश्यते ॥ (१९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जो व्यक्ति ब्राह्मणों को बैल का दान कर के अपने मन को उदार बनाता है, वह अपनी गोशाला में गायों की समृद्धि देखता है. (१९)
EN English Translation
A person who liberalizes his mind by donating bulls to Brahmins sees the prosperity of cows in his gaushala. (19)
गावः॑ सन्तु प्र॒जाः स॒न्त्वथो॑ अस्तु तनूब॒लम् । तत्सर्व॒मनु॑ मन्यन्तां दे॒वा ऋ॑षभदा॒यिने॑ ॥ (२०)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
गाएं हों, संतानें हों तथा शरीर में शक्ति हो. बैल का दान करने वाले के लिए देवगण यह सब प्रदान करें. (२०)
EN English Translation
There should be cows, children and strength in the body. May the gods provide all this for the one who donates the bull. (20)
अ॒यं पि॑पान॒ इन्द्र॒ इद्र॒यिं द॑धातु चेत॒नीम् । अ॒यं धे॒नुं सु॒दुघां॒ नित्य॑वत्सां॒ वशं॑ दुहां विप॒श्चितं॑ प॒रो दि॒वः ॥ (२१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हवि प्राप्त करने वाले इंद्र यजमान को ज्ञान रूपी धन के अतिरिक्त सरलता से दुही जाने वाली एवं सदा बछड़ों को जन्म देने वाली गाय तथा स्वर्ग प्रदान करें. (२१)
EN English Translation
In addition to the wealth of knowledge, give the swami, the cow and heaven that gives birth to the calf and always gives birth to the calf. (21)
पि॒शङ्ग॑रूपो नभ॒सो व॑यो॒धा ऐ॒न्द्रः शुष्मो॑ वि॒श्वरू॑पो न॒ आग॑न् । आयु॑र॒स्मभ्यं॒ दध॑त्प्र॒जां च॑ रा॒यश्च॒ पोषै॑र॒भि नः॑ सचताम् ॥ (२२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
पीले रंग वाला, आकाश के अन्न को धारण करने वाला एवं अनेक रूपों वाला इंद्र संबंधी बैल हमें प्राप्त हुआ. वह हमें आयु, संतान एवं धन देता हुआ सभी प्रकार से पुष्ट करे. (२२)
EN English Translation
We got a yellow colored, sky-bearing grain and indra-related bull with many forms. He should strengthen us in all respects by giving us age, children and money. (22)
उपे॒होप॑पर्चना॒स्मिन्गो॒ष्ठ उप॑ पृञ्च नः । उप॑ ऋष॒भस्य॒ यद्रेत॒ उपे॑न्द्र॒ तव॑ वी॒र्यम् ॥ (२३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे उपपूंच! यहां आओ तथा गोशाला में हम से मिलो. हे इंद्र! इस वृषभ का वीर्य ही तुम्हारा वीर्य है. (२३)
EN English Translation
O subpunch! Come here and meet us at the gaushala. O Indra! The semen of this Taurus is your semen. (23)
ए॒तं वो॒ युवा॑नं॒ प्रति॑ दध्मो॒ अत्र॒ तेन॒ क्रीड॑न्तीश्चरत॒ वशाँ॒ अनु॑ । मा नो॑ हासिष्ट ज॒नुषा॑ सुभागा रा॒यश्च॒ पोषै॑र॒भि नः॑ सचध्वम् ॥ (२४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे गायो! यह युवा बैल तुम्हारे लिए है. इस गोशाला में इस के साथ क्रीडा करती हुई तुम विचरण करो. तुम हमारा त्याग मत करो तथा हमें सुंदर धनों से पुष्ट बनाओ. (२४)
EN English Translation
O sing! This young bull is for you. You should roam in this gaushala while playing with it. Don't abandon us and make us strong with beautiful riches. (24)
