यजमानब्राह्म॒णं वा ए॒तदति॑थिपतिः कुरुते॒ यदा॑हा॒र्याणि॒ प्रेक्ष॑त इ॒दं भूया३ इ॒दा३मिति॑ ॥ (१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जो यजमान को अथवा ब्राह्मण को अतिथि पति अर्थात् अतिथि का पालन करने वाला बनता है, वह आहार्य अर्थात् यज्ञ संबंधी द्रव्य को देखता हुआ कहता है कि यह होना चाहिए. (१)
EN English Translation
The one who becomes the host or the Brahmin who follows the guest husband i.e. the guest, he looks at the food i.e. the substance related to the yajna and says that it should be. (1)
यदाह॒ भूय॒ उद्ध॒रेति॑ प्रा॒णमे॒व तेन॒ वर्षी॑यांसं कुरुते ॥ (२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जो अतिथि से बारबार भोजन करने की बात कहता है, वह प्राण शक्ति की वृद्धि करता है. (२)
EN English Translation
The one who asks the guest to eat again and again increases the vitality. (2)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जो अतिथि के लिए भोजन लाता है, वह हवि प्राप्त करता है. (३)
EN English Translation
The one who brings food for the guest receives the havi. (3)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
अतिथि उन परोसे हुए भोज्य पदार्थो का आत्मा में ही हवन करता है. (४)
EN English Translation
The guest performs havan in the soul of those served food items. (4)
स्रु॒चा हस्ते॑न प्रा॒णे यूपे॑ स्रुक्का॒रेण॑ वषट्का॒रेण॑ ॥ (५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
अतिथि का हाथ खुवा, उस के प्राण स्तूप अर्थात् यज्ञीय पशु को बांधने का खंभा और खाते समय चटखारे लेना ही वषट् शब्द है. (५)
EN English Translation
Khuva, the guest's hand, his prana stupa i.e. the pillar of tying the sacrificial animal and taking chutney while eating is the word. (5)
ए॒ते वै प्रि॒याश्चाप्रि॑याश्च॒र्त्विजः॑ स्व॒र्गं लो॒कं ग॑मयन्ति॒ यदति॑थयः ॥ (६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
अतिथि ही वे प्रिय अथवा अप्रिय अतिथि हैं, जो यजमान को स्वर्गलोक में भेजते हैं. (६)
EN English Translation
Guests are the beloved or unpleasant guests who send the host to heaven. (6)
स य ए॒वं वि॒द्वान्न द्वि॒षन्न॑श्नीया॒न्न द्वि॑ष॒तोऽन्न॑मश्नीया॒न्न मी॑मांसि॒तस्य॒ न मी॑मां॒समा॑नस्य ॥ (७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जिस के विषय में विचार कर चुका हो, अतिथि उस का अन्न खाए, जिस के विषय में विचार चल रहा हो, उस का अन्न न खाए. (७)
EN English Translation
The guest should eat the food of the one about whom he has thought, do not eat the food of the one about whom he is thinking. (7)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
अतिथि जिस का अन्न खाता है, उस के सभी पापों को भी खाता है. (८)
EN English Translation
The guest also eats all the sins of the one whose food he eats. (8)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
अतिथि जिस का अन्न नहीं खाता है, उस के पापों को भी नहीं खाता है. (९)
EN English Translation
The guest does not even eat the sins of the one whose food he does not eat. (9)
स॑र्व॒दा वा ए॒ष यु॒क्तग्रा॑वा॒र्द्रप॑वित्रो॒ वित॑ताध्वर॒ आहृ॑तयज्ञक्रतु॒र्य उ॑प॒हर॑ति ॥ (१०)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
यजमान अतिथियों को अन्न देता रहता है, वह ग्रावाओं अर्थात् सोमलता कूटने वाले पत्थरों से गीले यज्ञ का कर्ता और उस यज्ञ को पूर्ण करने वाला होता है. (१०)
EN English Translation
The host keeps giving food to the guests, he is the doer of the wet yajna with the stones that crush the gravas i.e. somalata and the one who completes that yajna. (10)
प्रा॑जाप॒त्यो वा ए॒तस्य॑ य॒ज्ञो वित॑तो॒ य उ॑प॒हर॑ति ॥ (११)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
अतिथि के निमित्त अन्न देना प्राजापत्य यज्ञ है. (११)
EN English Translation
Giving food for the guest is a prajapatya yagya. (11)
प्र॒जाप॑ते॒र्वा ए॒ष वि॑क्र॒मान॑नु॒विक्र॑मते॒ य उ॑प॒हर॑ति ॥ (१२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जो अतिथि के निमित्त भोजन लाता है, वह प्रजापति के समान ही पराक्रम करता है. (१२)
EN English Translation
He who brings food for the guest does the same feat as Prajapati. (12)
योऽति॑थीनां॒ स आ॑हव॒नीयो॒ यो वेश्म॑नि॒ स गार्ह॑पत्यो॒ यस्मि॒न्पच॑न्ति॒ स द॑क्षिणा॒ग्निः ॥ (१३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
अतिथियों को बुलाना आहवनीय अग्नि है, अपने घर में उन्हें भोजन कराना गार्हपत्य अग्नि है और जिस पात्र में अतिथि के लिए भोजन पकाया जाता है, वह दीक्षाग्नि है. (१३)
EN English Translation
Calling guests is a joyous agni, feeding them in your home is the agni of garhapatya and the vessel in which food is cooked for the guest is deekshagni. (13)
