इन्द्र॒ सोमं॑ सोमपते॒ पिबे॒मं माध्यं॑दिनं॒ सव॑नं॒ चारु॒ यत्ते॑ । प्र॒प्रुथ्या॒ शिप्रे॑ मघवन्नृजीषिन्वि॒मुच्या॒ हरी॑ इ॒ह मा॑दयस्व ॥ (१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे सोम के अधिपति इंद्र! माध्यंदिन-सवन में तैयार किए गए इस सोम को पिओ. यह रमणीय है. हे मघवन् एवं ऋजीषी इंद्र! रथ में जोड़े गए दोनों घोड़ों को खोलकर उनके जबड़ों को यहां की घासों से भरो एवं उस यज्ञ में उन्हें प्रसन्न करो. (१)
EN English Translation
O Indra, the ruler of Soma! Drink this som prepared in the median-savan. It's delightful. O Maghvan and Sage Indra! Open the two horses added to the chariot and fill their jaws with the grasses here and please them in that yagna. (1)
गवा॑शिरं म॒न्थिन॑मिन्द्र शु॒क्रं पिबा॒ सोमं॑ ररि॒मा ते॒ मदा॑य । ब्र॒ह्म॒कृता॒ मारु॑तेना ग॒णेन॑ स॒जोषा॑ रु॒द्रैस्तृ॒पदा वृ॑षस्व ॥ (२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! गाय के दूध से मिश्रित, मथे हुए एवं नवीन सोम को पिओ. यह सोम हम तुम्हारे हर्ष के लिए दान करते हैं. स्तुति करने वाले मरुतों एवं रुद्रों के साथ यह सोम तृप्ति पर्यंत पान करो. (२)
EN English Translation
O Indra! Mix with cow's milk, mashed and drink Naveen Som. This mon we donate to your joy. Drink this soma with the maruts and rudras praising them till satiety. (2)
ये ते॒ शुष्मं॒ ये तवि॑षी॒मव॑र्ध॒न्नर्च॑न्त इन्द्र म॒रुत॑स्त॒ ओजः॑ । माध्यं॑दिने॒ सव॑ने वज्रहस्त॒ पिबा॑ रु॒द्रेभिः॒ सग॑णः सुशिप्र ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! जो मरुत् तुम्हारे तेज एवं बल को बढ़ाते हैं, वे ही तुम्हारी स्तुति करते हुए तुम्हारा ओज बढ़ाते हैं. हे वज्रहस्त एवं सुंदर ठोढ़ी वाले इंद्र! तुम रुद्रों के साथ मिलकर माध्यंदिन सवन में सोम पिओ. (३)
EN English Translation
O Indra! The deserts that increase your speed and strength, they praise you and increase your spirit. O Indra with a beautiful and beautiful chin! You drink the mon in the median savan together with the rudras. (3)
त इन्न्व॑स्य॒ मधु॑मद्विविप्र॒ इन्द्र॑स्य॒ शर्धो॑ म॒रुतो॒ य आस॑न् । येभि॑र्वृ॒त्रस्ये॑षि॒तो वि॒वेदा॑म॒र्मणो॒ मन्य॑मानस्य॒ मर्म॑ ॥ (४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जो मरुत् इंद्र के बलरूप थे, उन्हीं ने मधुर वाक्य बोलकर इंद्र को प्रेरित किया था. मेरा मर्म कोई नहीं जानता है, ऐसा समझने वाले वृत्र का रहस्य मरुतों ने इंद्र को बताया. (४)
EN English Translation
Those who were the forces of The Desert Indra, they had inspired Indra by speaking sweet words. No one knows my essence, the maruts told Indra the secret of Vritra, who understands so. (4)
म॒नु॒ष्वदि॑न्द्र॒ सव॑नं जुषा॒णः पिबा॒ सोमं॒ शश्व॑ते वी॒र्या॑य । स आ व॑वृत्स्व हर्यश्व य॒ज्ञैः स॑र॒ण्युभि॑र॒पो अर्णा॑ सिसर्षि ॥ (५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! मनु के यज्ञ के समान तुम शत्रुओं को हराने वाली शक्ति पाने के लिए मेरे इस यज्ञ का सेवन करते हुए सोम पिओ. हे हरि नामक अश्वों वाले इंद्र! तुम यज्ञ के योग्य मरुतों के साथ आओ एवं गमनशील मरुतों के साथ आकाश के जल को धरती पर लाओ. (५)
EN English Translation
O Indra! Like Manu's yajna, you drink som while consuming this yajna of mine to get the power to defeat your enemies. O Indra with horses called Hari! You come with the maruts worthy of yajna and bring the waters of the sky to the earth with the moving maruts. (5)
त्वम॒पो यद्ध॑ वृ॒त्रं ज॑घ॒न्वाँ अत्या॑ँ इव॒ प्रासृ॑जः॒ सर्त॒वाजौ । शया॑नमिन्द्र॒ चर॑ता व॒धेन॑ वव्रि॒वांसं॒ परि॑ दे॒वीरदे॑वम् ॥ (६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! तुमने दीप्तिशाली जल को चारों ओर से रोककर वर्तमान दीप्तिशून्य एवं सोए हुए वृत्र को युद्ध के द्वारा मारा था एवं युद्ध में जलों को अश्व के समान तेजी से बहने के लिए छोड़ दिया था. (६)
EN English Translation
O Indra! You stopped the radiant water from all around and killed the present radiant and sleeping circle through war and left the waters to flow as fast as a horse in the war. (6)
यजा॑म॒ इन्नम॑सा वृ॒द्धमिन्द्रं॑ बृ॒हन्त॑मृ॒ष्वम॒जरं॒ युवा॑नम् । यस्य॑ प्रि॒ये म॒मतु॑र्य॒ज्ञिय॑स्य॒ न रोद॑सी महि॒मानं॑ म॒माते॑ ॥ (७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हम हव्य अन्न से वृद्धि प्राप्त, महान् जरारहित, नित्य तरुण एवं स्तुतिपात्र इंद्र की पूजा करते हैं. अपरिमित धरती और आकाश यज्ञ के योग्य इंद्र की महिमा को सीमित नहीं कर सकते. (७)
EN English Translation
We worship indra, who is rich in the holy food, the great, the eternal young and the praiseworthy. The infinite earth and the sky cannot limit the glory of Indra worthy of yajna. (7)
इन्द्र॑स्य॒ कर्म॒ सुकृ॑ता पु॒रूणि॑ व्र॒तानि॑ दे॒वा न मि॑नन्ति॒ विश्वे॑ । दा॒धार॒ यः पृ॑थि॒वीं द्यामु॒तेमां ज॒जान॒ सूर्य॑मु॒षसं॑ सु॒दंसाः॑ ॥ (८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
समस्त देव इंद्र द्वारा निर्मित धरती आदि तथा यज्ञादि का विरोध नहीं कर सकते. इंद्र ने धरती, आकाश एवं अंतरक्षि से लोक को धारण किया था. शोभनकर्मा इंद्र ने सूर्य तथा उषा को उत्पन्न किया था. (८)
EN English Translation
All the gods cannot resist the earth etc. and yajnaadi created by Indra. Indra had possessed the earth, the sky and the realm from the space. Shobhankarma Indra created the Sun and Usha. (8)
अद्रो॑घ स॒त्यं तव॒ तन्म॑हि॒त्वं स॒द्यो यज्जा॒तो अपि॑बो ह॒ सोम॑म् । न द्याव॑ इन्द्र त॒वस॑स्त॒ ओजो॒ नाहा॒ न मासाः॑ श॒रदो॑ वरन्त ॥ (९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे द्रोहरहित इंद्र! तुम्हारी महिमा वास्तविक है, क्योंकि तुमने उत्पन्न होते ही सोमपान किया था, तुझ बलवान् के तेज का वारण स्वर्ग, दिन, मास एवं वर्ष भी नहीं कर सकते. (९)
EN English Translation
O indra without treachery! Your glory is real, because you did sohapana as soon as you were born, you cannot even celebrate the glory of your rebellion in heaven, day, month and year. (9)
त्वं स॒द्यो अ॑पिबो जा॒त इ॑न्द्र॒ मदा॑य॒ सोमं॑ पर॒मे व्यो॑मन् । यद्ध॒ द्यावा॑पृथि॒वी आवि॑वेशी॒रथा॑भवः पू॒र्व्यः का॒रुधा॑याः ॥ (१०)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! तुमने जन्म लेने के पश्चात् उत्तम स्थान में स्थित होकर आनंद के लिए सोम पिया था. जब तुम धरती और आकाश में प्रविष्ट हुए थे, उसी समय पुरातन बनकर कर्मो के विधाता बने थे. (१०)
EN English Translation
O Indra! After you were born, you were located in the best place and drank som for pleasure. When you entered the earth and the sky, at the same time you became an archaic one and became the vidhata of karma. (10)
अह॒न्नहिं॑ परि॒शया॑न॒मर्ण॑ ओजा॒यमा॑नं तुविजात॒ तव्या॑न् । न ते॑ महि॒त्वमनु॑ भू॒दध॒ द्यौर्यद॒न्यया॑ स्फि॒ग्या॒३॒॑ क्षामव॑स्थाः ॥ (११)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे पृथ्वी आदि को जन्म देने वाले इंद्र! तुमने अत्यंत विशाल बनकर जल को घेरकर सोए हुए एवं स्वयं को बलवान् समझने वाले अहि राक्षस को मारा था. जब तुम अपनी बगल में धरती को दबा लेते हो, उस समय स्वर्ग तुम्हारी महिमा को नहीं जान पाता. (११)
EN English Translation
O Indra who gave birth to the earth etc! You became very large and surrounded the water and killed the demon who was sleeping and thinking of himself as a rebel. When you press the earth beside you, heaven does not know your glory. (11)
य॒ज्ञो हि त॑ इन्द्र॒ वर्ध॑नो॒ भूदु॒त प्रि॒यः सु॒तसो॑मो मि॒येधः॑ । य॒ज्ञेन॑ य॒ज्ञम॑व य॒ज्ञियः॒ सन्य॒ज्ञस्ते॒ वज्र॑महि॒हत्य॑ आवत् ॥ (१२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! हमारा यज्ञ तुम्हारी वृद्धि करता है. सोम निचोड़े जाने के कारण हमारा यज्ञ तुम्हें प्रिय है. हे यज्ञ योग्य इंद्र! यज्ञ के द्वारा यजमान की रक्षा करो. यह वृत्र को मारते समय तुम्हारे वज्र की रक्षा करे. (१२)
EN English Translation
O Indra! Our yajna increases yours. Our yajna is dear to you because of the som being squeezed. O Indra worthy of yajna! Protect the host by yajna. It protects your thunderbolt while killing the vritra. (12)
य॒ज्ञेनेन्द्र॒मव॒सा च॑क्रे अ॒र्वागैनं॑ सु॒म्नाय॒ नव्य॑से ववृत्याम् । यः स्तोमे॑भिर्वावृ॒धे पू॒र्व्येभि॒र्यो म॑ध्य॒मेभि॑रु॒त नूत॑नेभिः ॥ (१३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जो इंद्र प्राचीन, मध्यकालीन एवं आधुनिक स्तोत्रों द्वारा वृद्धि प्राप्त करते हैं, उन्हीं को यजमान रक्षा करने वाले यज्ञ के द्वारा अपनी ओर आकृष्ट करता है एवं नवीन धन प्राप्त करने के लिए यज्ञ से ढकता है. (१३)
EN English Translation
Indra, who attains growth through ancient, medieval and modern hymns, attracts them to him through the yajna that protects the host and covers them with yajna to get new wealth. (13)
वि॒वेष॒ यन्मा॑ धि॒षणा॑ ज॒जान॒ स्तवै॑ पु॒रा पार्या॒दिन्द्र॒मह्नः॑ । अंह॑सो॒ यत्र॑ पी॒पर॒द्यथा॑ नो ना॒वेव॒ यान्त॑मु॒भये॑ हवन्ते ॥ (१४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
इंद्र की स्तुति करने का विचार जब मेरी बुद्धि में आता है, तब मैं स्तुति करता हूं. मैं अशुभ दिन आने के पहले ही इंद्र की स्तुति करता हूं. जिस प्रकार दोनों तटों वाले लोग नाव वाले को पुकारते हैं, उसी प्रकार हमारे दोनों मातृ एवं पितृ कुलों के लोग दुःख से पार लगाने के विचार से तुम्हें पुकारते हैं. (१४)
EN English Translation
When the idea of praising Indra comes to my mind, I praise. I praise Indra even before the inauspicious day comes. Just as the people on both sides call upon the boatman, so the people of both our mother and father families call upon you with the thought of crossing through with grief. (14)
आपू॑र्णो अस्य क॒लशः॒ स्वाहा॒ सेक्ते॑व॒ कोशं॑ सिसिचे॒ पिब॑ध्यै । समु॑ प्रि॒या आव॑वृत्र॒न्मदा॑य प्रदक्षि॒णिद॒भि सोमा॑स॒ इन्द्र॑म् ॥ (१५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! तुम्हारा कलश सोम से भर गया है. तुम्हारे सोमरस पीने के लिए 'स्वाहा' शब्द का उच्चारण भी हो चुका है. जैसे पानी भरने वाला पानी भरे हुए पात्र से दूसरे पात्र में जल डालता है, उसी प्रकार मैं तुम्हारे पीने के लिए कलश में सोम भरता हूं. स्वादिष्ट सोम प्रदक्षिणा करता हुआ इंद्र की प्रसन्नता के लिए उनके सामने जाता है. (१५)
EN English Translation
O Indra! Your urn is filled with mon. The word 'Swaha' has also been pronounced for your somras to drink. Just as the water filling water pours water from the filled container to another vessel, so I fill the pot with som for you to drink. The delicious Som circumambulation goes before them for Indra's delight. (15)
न त्वा॑ गभी॒रः पु॑रुहूत॒ सिन्धु॒र्नाद्र॑यः॒ परि॒ षन्तो॑ वरन्त । इ॒त्था सखि॑भ्य इषि॒तो यदि॒न्द्रा दृ॒ळ्हं चि॒दरु॑जो॒ गव्य॑मू॒र्वम् ॥ (१६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे बहुतों द्वारा बुलाए गए इंद्र! न गहरा सागर तुम्हें रोक सकता है और न उसके चारों ओर वर्तमान पर्वतसमूह! देवों की प्रार्थना पर तुमने दृढ़ वाडवाग्नि का भी निवारण कर दिया था. (१६)
EN English Translation
O Indra called by many! Neither the deep ocean can stop you, nor the current mountain clusters around it! On the prayer of the gods, you also resolved the firm vadvagni. (16)
शु॒नं हु॑वेम म॒घवा॑न॒मिन्द्र॑म॒स्मिन्भरे॒ नृत॑मं॒ वाज॑सातौ । शृ॒ण्वन्त॑मु॒ग्रमू॒तये॑ स॒मत्सु॒ घ्नन्तं॑ वृ॒त्राणि॑ सं॒जितं॒ धना॑नाम् ॥ (१७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
धन प्राप्ति वाले संग्राम में उत्साहपूर्ण, धनवान्, सकल विश्व के नेता, स्तुतियां सुनने वाले, शत्रुओं के लिए भयंकर, युद्ध में राक्षस विनाशकारी एवं शत्रुओं के धन के विजेता इंद्र को हम रक्षा के लिए बुलाते हैं. (१७)
EN English Translation
We call indra, the leader of the world, the leader of the world, the leader of the world, the one who hears praises, the fiercest for the enemies, the demon destroyers in battle and the conqueror of the wealth of the enemies. (17)
