यो मर्त्ये॑ष्व॒मृत॑ ऋ॒तावा॑ दे॒वो दे॒वेष्व॑र॒तिर्नि॒धायि॑ । होता॒ यजि॑ष्ठो म॒ह्ना शु॒चध्यै॑ ह॒व्यैर॒ग्निर्मनु॑ष ईर॒यध्यै॑ ॥ (१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जो मरणरहित एवं दिव्य अग्नि मनुष्यों में सत्ययुक्त, इंद्रादि देवों के शत्रुओं को हराने वाले, देवों को बुलाने वाले एवं सबसे अधिक यज्ञकर्ता हैं, वे अपने महान् तेज से दीप्त होने एवं यजमानों को स्वर्ग भेजने के लिए उत्तर वेदी पर स्थापित किए गए हैं. (१)
EN English Translation
Those who are the deadless and divine agnis of men, who are truthful among the human beings, who defeat the enemies of the Indradi devas, those who call the gods and the most sacrificators, have been installed at the north altar to be illuminated by their great glory and to send the hosts to heaven. (1)
इ॒ह त्वं सू॑नो सहसो नो अ॒द्य जा॒तो जा॒ताँ उ॒भया॑ँ अ॒न्तर॑ग्ने । दू॒त ई॑यसे युयुजा॒न ऋ॑ष्व ऋजुमु॒ष्कान्वृष॑णः शु॒क्राँश्च॑ ॥ (२)

हे बल के पुत्र एवं दर्शनीय अग्नि! तुम आज हमारे यज्ञ में उत्पन्न हुए हो एवं अपने सीधे, मोटे, तेजस्वी तथा शक्तिशली घोड़ों को रथ में जोतकर नभ से भिन्न देवों और मनुष्यों के बीच हव्य वहन के लिए दूत बनते हो. (२)
EN English Translation
O son of strength and a agni of sight! You are born in our yajna today and by ploughing your straight, thick, bright and powerful horses in the chariot, you become messengers to carry the evil between gods and human beings other than Nabh. (2)
अत्या॑ वृध॒स्नू रोहि॑ता घृ॒तस्नू॑ ऋ॒तस्य॑ मन्ये॒ मन॑सा॒ जवि॑ष्ठा । अ॒न्तरी॑यसे अरु॒षा यु॑जा॒नो यु॒ष्माँश्च॑ दे॒वान्विश॒ आ च॒ मर्ता॑न् ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे सत्यरूप अग्नि! मैं तुम्हारे लाल रंग वाले, मन से भी अधिक वेगशाली एवं अन्न तथा जल बरसाने वाले घोड़ों की स्तुति करता हूं. उन तेजस्वी घोड़ों को रथ में जोतकर यज्ञ के पात्र देवों एवं सेवा करने वाले मनुष्यों के बीच भली-भांति जाते हो. (३)
EN English Translation
O true agni! I praise your red-colored horses, faster than your heart, and showering food and water. By ploughing those bright horses in the chariot, the characters of the yagna go well between the gods and the men who serve. (3)
अ॒र्य॒मणं॒ वरु॑णं मि॒त्रमे॑षा॒मिन्द्रा॒विष्णू॑ म॒रुतो॑ अ॒श्विनो॒त । स्वश्वो॑ अग्ने सु॒रथः॑ सु॒राधा॒ एदु॑ वह सुह॒विषे॒ जना॑य ॥ (४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे उत्तम अश्वो, उत्तम रथ एवं उत्तम धन वाले अग्नि! तुम उत्तम हवि वाले यजमान के लिए अर्यमा, वरुण, मित्र, इंद्र विष्णु, मरुद्गण एवं अश्चिनीकुमारों को बुलाओ. (४)
EN English Translation
O the best horse, the best chariot and the agni with the best wealth! You call Aryama, Varuna, Mitra, Indra Vishnu, Marudgana and Ashchinikumaras for the best-ever host. (4)
गोमा॑ँ अ॒ग्नेऽवि॑माँ अ॒श्वी य॒ज्ञो नृ॒वत्स॑खा॒ सद॒मिद॑प्रमृ॒ष्यः । इळा॑वाँ ए॒षो अ॑सुर प्र॒जावा॑न्दी॒र्घो र॒यिः पृ॑थुबु॒ध्नः स॒भावा॑न् ॥ (५)

हे शक्तिशाली अग्नि! हमारा यह यज्ञ गाय, भेड़ एवं घोड़ों से युक्त हो. अध्वर्यु एवं यजमान वाला यज्ञ सदैव नष्ट न करने योग्य, हव्य अन्न से युक्त, पुत्र-पौत्र आदि सहित, लगातार चलने वाला, धनपूर्ण, अनेक संपत्तियों का कारण तथा उपदेशकर्तताओं से भरा हो. (५)
EN English Translation
O mighty agni! Let this sacrifice of ours consist of cows, sheep and horses. The yajna with adhwaryu and host is always unsustainable, full of food, with son and grandson, etc., that is continuous, rich, the cause of many assets and full of preachers. (5)
यस्त॑ इ॒ध्मं ज॒भर॑त्सिष्विदा॒नो मू॒र्धानं॑ वा त॒तप॑ते त्वा॒या । भुव॒स्तस्य॒ स्वत॑वाँः पा॒युर॑ग्ने॒ विश्व॑स्मात्सीमघाय॒त उ॑रुष्य ॥ (६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अग्नि! जो मनुष्य पसीना बहाकर तुम्हारे लिए लकड़ियां ठोकर लाता है एवं तुम्हें पाने की अभिलाषा से अपना सर लकड़ी के बोझे से दुःखी करता है, उसे तुम धनशाली बनाते हो, पालन करते हो एवं अनिष्ट कामना करने वालों से उसकी रक्षा करते हो. (६)
EN English Translation
O agni! A man who sweats and brings you wood and makes his head sad with the burden of wood with the desire to find you, you make him rich, obey him and protect him from those who desire evil. (6)
यस्ते॒ भरा॒दन्नि॑यते चि॒दन्नं॑ नि॒शिष॑न्म॒न्द्रमति॑थिमु॒दीर॑त् । आ दे॑व॒युरि॒नध॑ते दुरो॒णे तस्मि॑न्र॒यिर्ध्रु॒वो अ॑स्तु॒ दास्वा॑न् ॥ (७)

हे अग्नि! जो अन्न की अभिलाषा करने वाले तुम्हारे लिए हव्य अन्न धारण करता है, नशा करने वाला सोम अधिक मात्रा में देता है, पूज्य अतिथि के समान तुम्हें उत्तर वेदी पर स्थापित करता है एवं देव बनने की अभिलाषा से तुम्हें अपने घर में प्रज्वलित करता है, उसका पुत्र पक्का आस्तिक एवं विशिष्ट दानी हो. (७)
EN English Translation
O agni! The one who desires food holds the food for you, the intoxicating mon gives you a large quantity, installs you on the north altar like a revered guest and ignites you in his house with the desire to become a god, his son may be a firm believer and a special donor. (7)
यस्त्वा॑ दो॒षा य उ॒षसि॑ प्र॒शंसा॑त्प्रि॒यं वा॑ त्वा कृ॒णव॑ते ह॒विष्मा॑न् । अश्वो॒ न स्वे दम॒ आ हे॒म्यावा॒न्तमंह॑सः पीपरो दा॒श्वांस॑म् ॥ (८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अग्नि! जो पुरुष रात में या प्रातःकाल तुम्हारी स्तुति करता है अथवा हाथ में प्रिय हव्य लेकर तुम्हें प्रसन्न करता है, यज्ञशाला में सुनहरी काठी वाले घोड़े के समान घूमते हुए तुम दरिद्रता से उसे बचाओ. (८)
EN English Translation
O agni! A man who praises you at night or in the morning or pleases you with a beloved havya in his hand, you can save him from poverty while walking around like a horse with a golden saddle in the yajnashala. (8)
यस्तुभ्य॑मग्ने अ॒मृता॑य॒ दाश॒द्दुव॒स्त्वे कृ॒णव॑ते य॒तस्रु॑क् । न स रा॒या श॑शमा॒नो वि यो॑ष॒न्नैन॒मंहः॒ परि॑ वरदघा॒योः ॥ (९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे मरणरहित अग्नि! जो यजमान तुम्हें हव्य देता है, अथवा माला हाथ में लेकर तुम्हारी सेवा करता है, वह स्तोत्र को बोलने वाला यजमान धनहीन न हो तथा हिंसकों का कष्ट उसे न छू सके. (९)
EN English Translation
Oh, a deathless agni! The host who gives you a greeting, or serves you with a garland in his hand, the host who speaks the psalms should not be rich and the suffering of the violent cannot touch him. (9)
यस्य॒ त्वम॑ग्ने अध्व॒रं जुजो॑षो दे॒वो मर्त॑स्य॒ सुधि॑तं॒ ररा॑णः । प्री॒तेद॑स॒द्धोत्रा॒ सा य॑वि॒ष्ठासा॑म॒ यस्य॑ विध॒तो वृ॒धासः॑ ॥ (१०)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे प्रसन्न, युवक एवं दीप्तिशाली अग्नि! तुम जिस यजमान का भली प्रकार अर्पित एवं हिंसारहित अन्न खाते हो, वह होता अवश्य प्रसन्न होता है. अग्नि की सेवा करने वाले जिस यजमान का यज्ञ होता आदि बढ़ाते हैं, हम उसीसे संबंध रखेंगे. (१०)
EN English Translation
O happy, young man and a radiant agni! The host whose food you eat well-offered and without violence is sure to be happy. We will be related to the host who serves the agni, whose yajna is increased, etc., we will be related to it. (10)
चित्ति॒मचि॑त्तिं चिनव॒द्वि वि॒द्वान्पृ॒ष्ठेव॑ वी॒ता वृ॑जि॒ना च॒ मर्ता॑न् । रा॒ये च॑ नः स्वप॒त्याय॑ देव॒ दितिं॑ च॒ रास्वादि॑तिमुरुष्य ॥ (११)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
विद्वान् अग्नि मनुष्यों के पुण्य एवं पाप को उसी प्रकार अलग कर दें. जिस प्रकार घोड़ों को पालने वाला कोमल और कठोर पीठ वाले घोड़ों को अलग-अलग छांट देता है. हे अग्नि देव! हमें सुंदर संतान के साथ धन दो. तुम दान करने वाले को धन दो और दानहीन से धन को बचाओ. (११)
EN English Translation
Let the learned agni separate the virtue and sin of human beings in the same way. Just as the one who rears the horses gives different sorting to the horses with gentle and hard backs. O God of agni! Give us wealth with beautiful children. You give money to the donor and save the money from the unstained. (11)
क॒विं श॑शासुः क॒वयोऽद॑ब्धा निधा॒रय॑न्तो॒ दुर्या॑स्वा॒योः । अत॒स्त्वं दृश्या॑ँ अग्न ए॒तान्प॒ड्भिः प॑श्ये॒रद्भु॑ताँ अ॒र्य एवैः॑ ॥ (१२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अग्नि! मनुष्यों के घरों में रहने वाले तिरस्कारशून्य एवं क्रांतदर्शी देवों ने तुझ मेधावी से होता बनने के लिए कहा है. हे यज्ञस्वामी! तुम अपने गतिशील तेजों से इन दर्शनीय एवं आश्चर्ययुक्त देवों को देखो. (१२)
EN English Translation
O agni! The despised and revolutionary gods living in the houses of men have asked you to become the bright. O yajnaswamy! You look at these spectacular and surprising gods with their dynamic brightnesses. (12)
त्वम॑ग्ने वा॒घते॑ सु॒प्रणी॑तिः सु॒तसो॑माय विध॒ते य॑विष्ठ । रत्नं॑ भर शशमा॒नाय॑ घृष्वे पृ॒थु श्च॒न्द्रमव॑से चर्षणि॒प्राः ॥ (१३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अतिशय युवा, दीप्तियुक्त, मनुष्यों की अभिलाषा पूरी करने वाले एवं उत्तर वेदी पर स्थापित करने योग्य अग्नि! सोम निचोड़ने वाले व तुम्हारी सेवा तथा स्तुति करने वाले यजमान की रक्षा के लिए उसे अधिक मात्रा में आनंददायक एवं उत्तम धन दो. (१३)
EN English Translation
O very young, radiant, fulfilling the desire of men and a agni that is set on the north altar! Give him a greater amount of pleasant and good money to protect the host who squeezes som and serves and praises you. (13)
अधा॑ ह॒ यद्व॒यम॑ग्ने त्वा॒या प॒ड्भिर्हस्ते॑भिश्चकृ॒मा त॒नूभिः॑ । रथं॒ न क्रन्तो॒ अप॑सा भु॒रिजो॑रृ॒तं ये॑मुः सु॒ध्य॑ आशुषा॒णाः ॥ (१४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अग्नि! हम हाथों, पैरों एवं शरीर के अन्य अवयवों द्वारा जिस प्रयोजन के लिए तुम्हें उत्पन्न करते हैं, उत्तम कर्मो वाले एवं यज्ञादि कर्मो में तल्लीन अंगिरा भी अपनी भुजाओं से अरणिमंथन करके तुम्हें उसी कर्म के लिए इस प्रकार उत्पन्न करते हैं, जिस प्रकार कारीगर रथ तैयार करता है. (१४)
EN English Translation
O agni! For the purpose for which we produce you through our hands, feet and other parts of the body, the best performing and engrossed in yajnadi karmo, angira also produces you for the same karma by making a ravanimanthan with his arms, in the same way as the artisan prepares the chariot. (14)
अधा॑ मा॒तुरु॒षसः॑ स॒प्त विप्रा॒ जाये॑महि प्रथ॒मा वे॒धसो॒ नॄन् । दि॒वस्पु॒त्रा अङ्गि॑रसो भवे॒माद्रिं॑ रुजेम ध॒निनं॑ शु॒चन्तः॑ ॥ (१५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हम आठ श्रेष्ठ मेधावी (छः अंगिरा एवं सातवें वामदेव) जनों ने उषा माता से अग्नि की किरणों को लिया है. तेजस्वी सूर्य के पुत्र हम अंगिरा दीप्तियुक्त होते हुए गोधन को रोकने वाले एवं जलपूर्ण पर्वत को भेदेंगे. (१५)
EN English Translation
We eight best meritorious people (six Angira and seventh Vamdev) have taken the rays of agni from Usha Mata. The sons of the bright sun, we will penetrate the mountain that prevents godhan and the watery mountains. (15)
अधा॒ यथा॑ नः पि॒तरः॒ परा॑सः प्र॒त्नासो॑ अग्न ऋ॒तमा॑शुषा॒णाः । शुचीद॑य॒न्दीधि॑तिमुक्थ॒शासः॒ क्षामा॑ भि॒न्दन्तो॑ अरु॒णीरप॑ व्रन् ॥ (१६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अग्नि! हमारे श्रेष्ठ, पुरातन एवं सच्चे यज्ञ के करने में संलग्न पूर्वजों ने तेजस्वी स्थान तथा दीप्ति प्राप्त की थी, उक्थमंत्र बोलकर अंधकार को नष्ट किया था तथा पणियों द्वारा चुराई गई लाल रंग वाली गायों को बाहर निकाला था. (१६)
EN English Translation
O agni! Our ancestors engaged in performing the best, ancient and true yajna had attained a bright place and a deepness, destroyed the darkness by speaking the ukthamantra and pulled out the red-coloured cows stolen by the pangs. (16)
सु॒कर्मा॑णः सु॒रुचो॑ देव॒यन्तोऽयो॒ न दे॒वा जनि॑मा॒ धम॑न्तः । शु॒चन्तो॑ अ॒ग्निं व॑वृ॒धन्त॒ इन्द्र॑मू॒र्वं गव्यं॑ परि॒षद॑न्तो अग्मन् ॥ (१७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
यागादि शोभन कार्य करने वाले, उत्तम-दीप्तिसंपन्न एवं देवों की अभिलाषा करने वाले स्तोतागण यज्ञादि द्वारा अपना मनुष्यजन्म इस प्रकार निर्मल कर रहे हैं, जिस प्रकार लोहार धौंकनी के द्वारा लोहे को साफ करता है. अग्नि को दीप्तिशाली करते एवं इंद्र को बढ़ाते हुए उन लोगों ने यज्ञ के चारों ओर बैठकर महान् गोधन को प्राप्त किया था. (१७)
EN English Translation
The hymns who do the good deeds, the good-lit and the desires of the gods, are purifying their human birth through yajnadi in the same way that the blacksmith cleanses the iron through the blower. While illuminating the agni and increasing Indra, they had attained the great Godhan by sitting around the yagna. (17)
आ यू॒थेव॑ क्षु॒मति॑ प॒श्वो अ॑ख्यद्दे॒वानां॒ यज्जनि॒मान्त्यु॑ग्र । मर्ता॑नां चिदु॒र्वशी॑रकृप्रन्वृ॒धे चि॑द॒र्य उप॑रस्या॒योः ॥ (१८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे तेजस्वी अग्नि! अंगिराओं के पर्वत में बंद गोसमूह को इंद्र ने उसी प्रकार देखा, जिस प्रकार लोग अन्न वाले घर में पशुसमूह को देखते हैं. अंगिराओं द्वारा लाई गई गायों से प्रजाएं संपन्न बनी थीं. स्वामी संतान के पालन एवं दास अपने पालन में समर्थ हुए थे. (१८)
EN English Translation
O glorious agni! Indra saw the group of cows locked in the mountain of the Angiras in the same way that people see the animal group in the house containing food. The people were enriched with the cows brought by the Angiras. The swamis were able to rear the offspring and the dasas were able to rear their own. (18)
अक॑र्म ते॒ स्वप॑सो अभूम ऋ॒तम॑वस्रन्नु॒षसो॑ विभा॒तीः । अनू॑नम॒ग्निं पु॑रु॒धा सु॑श्च॒न्द्रं दे॒वस्य॒ मर्मृ॑जत॒श्चारु॒ चक्षुः॑ ॥ (१९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अग्नि! हम तुम्हारी सेवा करते हुए शोभन कर्मो वाले बनें. प्रकाश वाली उषाएं सबको तेज से ढक देती हैं तथा प्रसन्नताकारक अग्नि को अनेक बार पूर्ण रूप से धारण करती हैं. हे तेजस्वी अग्नि! हम तुम्हारे मनोहर तेज की सेवा करके शोभनकर्मयुक्त बनें. (१९)
EN English Translation
O agni! Let us serve you and be the ones of the brave deeds. Light vests cover everyone brightly and hold the pleasing agni many times in its entirety. O glorious agni! Let us be well-mannered by serving your charming fast. (19)
ए॒ता ते॑ अग्न उ॒चथा॑नि वे॒धोऽवो॑चाम क॒वये॒ ता जु॑षस्व । उच्छो॑चस्व कृणु॒हि वस्य॑सो नो म॒हो रा॒यः पु॑रुवार॒ प्र य॑न्धि ॥ (२०)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे विधाता एवं मेधावी अग्नि! अपने उद्देश्य से बोले गए इस मंत्रसमूह को स्वीकार करो एवं उद्दीप्त होकर हमें परमसंपत्तिशाली बनाओ. हे बहुतों द्वारा वरण करने योग्य अग्नि! हमें महान् धन दो. (२०)
EN English Translation
O vidhata and bright agni! Accept this group of mantras spoken for your purpose and be excited and make us supremely wealthy. O agni that is chosen by many! Give us great money. (20)
