आ वो॒ राजा॑नमध्व॒रस्य॑ रु॒द्रं होता॑रं सत्य॒यजं॒ रोद॑स्योः । अ॒ग्निं पु॒रा त॑नयि॒त्नोर॒चित्ता॒द्धिर॑ण्यरूप॒मव॑से कृणुध्वम् ॥ (१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे यजमानो! वज्र के समान ध्रुवमृत्यु से पहले ही यज्ञ के स्वामी, देवों को बुलाने वाले, शत्रुओं को रुलाने वाले, धरती-आकाश को अन्न देने वाले एवं सुनहरी प्रभा से युक्त अग्नि की अपनी रक्षा के निमित्त हवि से सेवा करो. (१)
EN English Translation
O hosts! Before the death of the pole like the vajra, serve the lord of the yajna, the one who calls the gods, the one who crys the enemies, the one who feeds the earth and the sky, and the agni with a golden prabha, to protect yourself. (1)
अ॒यं योनि॑श्चकृ॒मा यं व॒यं ते॑ जा॒येव॒ पत्य॑ उश॒ती सु॒वासाः॑ । अ॒र्वा॒ची॒नः परि॑वीतो॒ नि षी॑दे॒मा उ॑ ते स्वपाक प्रती॒चीः ॥ (२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अग्नि! जिस प्रकार पति की अभिलाषा करती हुई एवं शोभन वस्त्रों वाली पत्नी अपने समीप पति को स्थान देती है, उसी प्रकार हम तुम्हारे लिए उत्तर वेदी रूप स्थान निश्चित करते हैं. हे उत्तम कर्मो वाले अग्नि! तुम देवों से घिरे हुए हमारे सामने बैठो. समस्त स्तुतियां तुम्हारे सम्मुख होंगी. (२)
EN English Translation
O agni! Just as a wife who desires her husband and has adornment robes places the husband next to her, so we fix the north altar form for you. O agni of the best deeds! You sit in front of us surrounded by gods. All praise will be in front of you. (2)
आ॒शृ॒ण्व॒ते अदृ॑पिताय॒ मन्म॑ नृ॒चक्ष॑से सुमृळी॒काय॑ वेधः । दे॒वाय॑ श॒स्तिम॒मृता॑य शंस॒ ग्रावे॑व॒ सोता॑ मधु॒षुद्यमी॒ळे ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे स्तुतिकर्तताओ! स्तोत्र सुनने वाले, प्रमादरहित, मनुष्यों को देखने वाले, शोभन सुखदाता एवं मरणरहित अग्नि देव के लिए स्तोत्र बोलो. पत्थरों के समान सोमरस निचोड़ने वाले यजमान भी अग्नि की स्तुति करते हैं. (३)
EN English Translation
O praise! Speak hymns for those who listen to hymns, those who are without pride, those who see human beings, the adornment, the giver of joy and the god of agni without death. Like stones, the hosts who squeeze the somras also praise the agni. (3)
त्वं चि॑न्नः॒ शम्या॑ अग्ने अ॒स्या ऋ॒तस्य॑ बोध्यृतचित्स्वा॒धीः । क॒दा त॑ उ॒क्था स॑ध॒माद्या॑नि क॒दा भ॑वन्ति स॒ख्या गृ॒हे ते॑ ॥ (४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अग्नि! तुम हमारे इस यज्ञकर्म के देव बनो. हे सत्ययज्ञ वाले एवं शोभनकर्मयुक्त अग्नि! तुम हमारे स्तोत्र को जानो. हमें प्रसन्न करने वाले तुम्हारे स्तोत्र हमारे घरों में कब बोले जावेंगे एवं तुम्हारे साथ मित्रता हमारे घर में कब बनेगी? (४)
EN English Translation
O agni! You become the god of this sacrificial act of ours. O agni of truth and righteousness! You know our hymn. When will your hymns that please us be spoken in our homes and when will friendship with you be formed in our house? (4)
क॒था ह॒ तद्वरु॑णाय॒ त्वम॑ग्ने क॒था दि॒वे ग॑र्हसे॒ कन्न॒ आगः॑ । क॒था मि॒त्राय॑ मी॒ळ्हुषे॑ पृथि॒व्यै ब्रवः॒ कद॑र्य॒म्णे कद्भगा॑य ॥ (५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अग्नि! तुम वरुण एवं सविता के समीप हमारी निंदा क्यों करते हो? हमसे क्या अपराध हुआ है? तुमने कामवर्षी मित्र, पृथ्वी, अर्यमा एवं भग को हमारा पाप क्यों बताया? (५)
EN English Translation
O agni! Why do you condemn us near Varun and Savita? What crime have we had? Why did you tell the workfriends, the earth, the aryama and the lord, our sins? (5)
कद्धिष्ण्या॑सु वृधसा॒नो अ॑ग्ने॒ कद्वाता॑य॒ प्रत॑वसे शुभं॒ये । परि॑ज्मने॒ नास॑त्याय॒ क्षे ब्रवः॒ कद॑ग्ने रु॒द्राय॑ नृ॒घ्ने ॥ (६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अग्नि! यज्ञ में बढ़ते हुए तुम अतिशय बलशाली, शुभ फलदाता एवं सर्वत्र गमनशील अश्चिनीकुमारों, वायु, धरती एवं पापियों का नाश करने वाले इंद्र से हमारे पाप के विषय में क्यों कहते हो? (६)
EN English Translation
O agni! Growing up in the yagna, why do you speak of our sin to indra, the mighty, the giver of good fruit and the aschinikumaras who have gone all over the world, to destroy the air, the earth and sinners? (6)
क॒था म॒हे पु॑ष्टिम्भ॒राय॑ पू॒ष्णे कद्रु॒द्राय॒ सुम॑खाय हवि॒र्दे । कद्विष्ण॑व उरुगा॒याय॒ रेतो॒ ब्रवः॒ कद॑ग्ने॒ शर॑वे बृह॒त्यै ॥ (७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अग्नि! हमारे पाप की वह कहानी महान् एवं पुष्टिकारक पूषा, पूजनीय एवं हविदाता रुद्र, बहुतों द्वारा प्रशंसित विष्णु अथवा महान् संवत्सर से क्यों कहते हो? (७)
EN English Translation
O agni! Why do you tell that story of our sin to the great and confirmatory Pusha, the revered and the havandata Rudra, the many admired Vishnu or the great Samvatsar? (7)
क॒था शर्धा॑य म॒रुता॑मृ॒ताय॑ क॒था सू॒रे बृ॑ह॒ते पृ॒च्छ्यमा॑नः । प्रति॑ ब्र॒वोऽदि॑तये तु॒राय॒ साधा॑ दि॒वो जा॑तवेदश्चिकि॒त्वान् ॥ (८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अग्नि! सत्यरूप, मरुद्गण, महान् सूर्य, देवी अदिति एवं वेगशाली वायु द्वारा पूछे जाने पर हमारे पाप की बात उन्हें क्यों बताते हो? हे सर्वज्ञ अग्नि! तुम सब कुछ जानते हुए देवों के पास जाओ. (८)
EN English Translation
O agni! When asked by Satyarup, The Marudgana, the Great Sun, Goddess Aditi and the Fast Wind, why do you tell them about our sin? O omniscient agni! You go to the gods knowing everything. (8)
ऋ॒तेन॑ ऋ॒तं निय॑तमीळ॒ आ गोरा॒मा सचा॒ मधु॑मत्प॒क्वम॑ग्ने । कृ॒ष्णा स॒ती रुश॑ता धा॒सिनै॒षा जाम॑र्येण॒ पय॑सा पीपाय ॥ (९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अग्नि! हम गायों से उस दूध की याचना करते हैं जो यज्ञ से नित्य संबंधित है. वे गाएं स्वयं सच्ची होते हुए भी मधुर दूध देती हैं. वे गाएं स्वयं काली हैं, पर श्वैत-वर्ण, प्राणधारक एवं प्रजाओं को अमर बनाने वाले दूध से पुष्ट करती हैं. (९)
EN English Translation
O agni! We ask cows for milk that is constantly related to the yagna. They sing themselves, even if they are true, give sweet milk. Those cows themselves are black, but reinforce with milk that makes the white-coloured, life-giver and the people immortal. (9)
ऋ॒तेन॒ हि ष्मा॑ वृष॒भश्चि॑द॒क्तः पुमा॑ँ अ॒ग्निः पय॑सा पृ॒ष्ठ्ये॑न । अस्प॑न्दमानो अचरद्वयो॒धा वृषा॑ शु॒क्रं दु॑दुहे॒ पृश्नि॒रूधः॑ ॥ (१०)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
कामवर्षी एवं श्रेष्ठ अग्नि सत्यरूप एवं पालन करने वाले दूध से भरे रहते हैं. अन्न देने वाले वे अग्नि एक जगह रहकर भी सब जगह चलते हैं. जलवर्षक सूर्य बादलों से जल दुहते हैं. (१०)
EN English Translation
The workmen and the best agni are filled with true form and adherent milk. Those agnis that give food go all over the place even if they stay in one place. Water-yearrs milk water from the sun clouds. (10)
ऋ॒तेनाद्रिं॒ व्य॑सन्भि॒दन्तः॒ समङ्गि॑रसो नवन्त॒ गोभिः॑ । शु॒नं नरः॒ परि॑ षदन्नु॒षास॑मा॒विः स्व॑रभवज्जा॒ते अ॒ग्नौ ॥ (११)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
मेधातिथि आदि अंगिरागोत्रीय ऋषियों ने यज्ञ के द्वारा गायों को रोकने वाले पहाड़ को उखाड़ फेंका था एवं वे अपनी गायों के पास पहुंच गए थे. उन यज्ञनेताओं ने सुख से उषा को पाया था. अरणिमंथन द्वारा अग्नि उत्पन्न होने पर सूर्य देव प्रकट हुए. (११)
EN English Translation
The Angiragotrian sages like Medhatithi etc. had uprooted the mountain that stopped the cows through yajna and they had reached out to their cows. Those yajna leaders had happily found Usha. The sun god appeared when agni was created by Aranimanthan. (11)
ऋ॒तेन॑ दे॒वीर॒मृता॒ अमृ॑क्ता॒ अर्णो॑भि॒रापो॒ मधु॑मद्भिरग्ने । वा॒जी न सर्गे॑षु प्रस्तुभा॒नः प्र सद॒मित्स्रवि॑तवे दधन्युः ॥ (१२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अग्नि! अमृत का कारण, बाधारहित एवं मधुर जल से भरी हुई दिव्य नदियां यज्ञ की प्रेरणा से सदा इस प्रकार बहती रहती हैं, जिस प्रकार आगे बढ़ने के लिए प्रेरित घोड़ा बढ़ता है. (१२)
EN English Translation
O agni! The cause of the nectar, the unhindered and filled with sweet water, the divine rivers flow always with the inspiration of the yajna, in the same way that the horse inspired to move forward grows. (12)
मा कस्य॑ य॒क्षं सद॒मिद्धु॒रो गा॒ मा वे॒शस्य॑ प्रमिन॒तो मापेः । मा भ्रातु॑रग्ने॒ अनृ॑जोरृ॒णं वे॒र्मा सख्यु॒र्दक्षं॑ रि॒पोर्भु॑जेम ॥ (१३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अग्नि! हमारे हिंसक, दुष्टबुद्धि पड़ोसी अथवा हमारे अतिरिक्त किसी भी बंधु के यज्ञ में मत जाना तथा कुटिलबुद्धि वाले हमारे भ्राता का हव्य धारण मत करना. हम शत्रु अथवा मित्र का दिया अन्न भोग में न लाकर केवल तुम्हारे द्वारा दिए गए अन्न का ही उपभोग करेंगे. (१३)
EN English Translation
O agni! Do not go to the yagna of our violent, evil-minded neighbors or any other brother other than us, and do not take on the vow of our evil-minded brother. We will not bring in the food given by the enemy or friend in the enjoyment, but only the food you have given us. (13)
रक्षा॑ णो अग्ने॒ तव॒ रक्ष॑णेभी रारक्षा॒णः सु॑मख प्रीणा॒नः । प्रति॑ ष्फुर॒ वि रु॑ज वी॒ड्वंहो॑ ज॒हि रक्षो॒ महि॑ चिद्वावृधा॒नम् ॥ (१४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे उत्तम धन वाले, हम लोगों के महान् रक्षक एवं हव्य द्वारा प्रसन्न अग्नि! तुम अपनी रक्षा द्वारा प्रसन्न हमें उन्नत बनाओ, शक्तिशाली पाप का नाश करो एवं महान् तथा वृद्धि-प्राप्त विघ्न का नाश करो. (१४)
EN English Translation
O you of the best wealth, the great protector of us and the agni delighted by the good! May you please us by your protection, destroy the mighty sin, and destroy the great and growing obstacle. (14)
ए॒भिर्भ॑व सु॒मना॑ अग्ने अ॒र्कैरि॒मान्स्पृ॑श॒ मन्म॑भिः शूर॒ वाजा॑न् । उ॒त ब्रह्मा॑ण्यङ्गिरो जुषस्व॒ सं ते॑ श॒स्तिर्दे॒ववा॑ता जरेत ॥ (१५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अग्नि! मेरी इन पूज्य स्तुतियों द्वारा प्रसन्रमन बनो. हे शूर! स्तोत्रों के साथ हमारे अन्न को स्वीकार करो. हे हव्यप्राप्तकर्ता अग्नि! हमारे मंत्रों को स्वीकार करो. देवों की स्तुति के निमित्त बने मंत्र तुम्हें बढ़ावें. (१५)
EN English Translation
O agni! Be pleasurable by these revered praises of Mine. Oh, Shur! Accept our food with hymns. O agni, the one who receives it! Accept our mantras. May the mantras meant for the praise of the gods increase you. (15)
ए॒ता विश्वा॑ वि॒दुषे॒ तुभ्यं॑ वेधो नी॒थान्य॑ग्ने नि॒ण्या वचां॑सि । नि॒वच॑ना क॒वये॒ काव्या॒न्यशं॑सिषं म॒तिभि॒र्विप्र॑ उ॒क्थैः ॥ (१६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे विधाता, यज्ञकर्म के ज्ञानी एवं क्रांतदर्शी! हम बुद्धिमान् लोग तुम्हें लक्ष्य करके फल प्राप्त कराने वाली, गूढ़, सभी प्रकार कहने योग्य एवं विद्वानों द्वारा बनाई हुई समस्त स्तुतियों को एक साथ बोलते हैं. (१६)
EN English Translation
O Vidhata, the wise and the chronicler of yajnakarma! We, the wise, target you and speak together all the praises that have been made by the fruit-bearing, the esoteric, all kinds of sayingable, and made by the scholars. (16)
