कु॒मा॒रं मा॒ता यु॑व॒तिः समु॑ब्धं॒ गुहा॑ बिभर्ति॒ न द॑दाति पि॒त्रे । अनी॑कमस्य॒ न मि॒नज्जना॑सः पु॒रः प॑श्यन्ति॒ निहि॑तमर॒तौ ॥ (१)

युवती माता ने कुमार को रास्ते में चलते समय घायल हो जाने पर गुफा में रखा, उसके पिता को नहीं दिया, लोग उसके हिंसित रूप को नहीं देखते हैं, किंतु असुंदर स्थान में रखा हुआ देखते हैं. (१)
EN English Translation
The young woman's mother kept Kumar in the cave when he was injured while walking on the way, did not give it to his father, people do not see his disguised form, but they see him kept in an inconsolable place. (1)
कमे॒तं त्वं यु॑वते कुमा॒रं पेषी॑ बिभर्षि॒ महि॑षी जजान । पू॒र्वीर्हि गर्भः॑ श॒रदो॑ व॒वर्धाप॑श्यं जा॒तं यदसू॑त मा॒ता ॥ (२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे युवती! तुम हिंसा करने वाली होकर भी कुमार को क्यों धारण करती हो? पूजनीया अरणि ने अग्निरूपी कुमार को जन्म दिया है. अरणि में गर्भरूप अग्नि कई वर्ष तक बढ़ते रहे. माता ने जिस पुत्र को जन्म दिया, उसे हमने देखा. (२)
EN English Translation
O young lady! Why do you hold On Kumar even when you are a perpetrator of violence? Poojaniya Arani has given birth to Agnirupi Kumar. The agni in the arani continued to grow for several years. We saw the son the mother gave birth to. (2)
हिर॑ण्यदन्तं॒ शुचि॑वर्णमा॒रात्क्षेत्रा॑दपश्य॒मायु॑धा॒ मिमा॑नम् । द॒दा॒नो अ॑स्मा अ॒मृतं॑ वि॒पृक्व॒त्किं माम॑नि॒न्द्राः कृ॑णवन्ननु॒क्थाः ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हमने सुनहरी ज्वालारूपी दांतों वाले, उज्ज्वल-वर्ण एवं आयुधों के समान ज्वालाएं बनाने वाले अग्नि को देखा. हमने अग्नि की अविनाशी एवं सर्वव्यापिनी स्तुति की है. इंद्र के विरोधी एवं स्तुति न करने वाले हमारा क्या कर सकते हैं? (३)
EN English Translation
We saw the agni with golden flame-like teeth, bright-colored and uterine-like flames. We have praised the indestructible and omnipresent of agni. What can Indra's opponents and those who do not praise us do? (3)
क्षेत्रा॑दपश्यं सनु॒तश्चर॑न्तं सु॒मद्यू॒थं न पु॒रु शोभ॑मानम् । न ता अ॑गृभ्र॒न्नज॑निष्ट॒ हि षः पलि॑क्नी॒रिद्यु॑व॒तयो॑ भवन्ति ॥ (४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हमने क्षेत्र में गोसमूह के समान चुपचाप घूमते हुए एवं स्वयं अधिक रूप से सुशोभित अग्नि को देखा है. लोग पिशाची के आक्रमण के समय वाली अग्नि की पीली ज्वालाओं को स्वीकार नहीं करते, अग्नि पुनः उत्पन्न हुए एवं उनकी वृद्धा ज्वालाएं युवा बन गई. (४)
EN English Translation
We have seen a agni roaming in silence like a go-on in the area and more beautifying itself. People do not accept the yellow flames of the agni at the time of the vampire's invasion, the agni was regenerated and their old flames became young. (4)
के मे॑ मर्य॒कं वि य॑वन्त॒ गोभि॒र्न येषां॑ गो॒पा अर॑णश्चि॒दास॑ । य ईं॑ जगृ॒भुरव॒ ते सृ॑ज॒न्त्वाजा॑ति प॒श्व उप॑ नश्चिकि॒त्वान् ॥ (५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हमारे राष्ट्र को गायों से पृथक् किसने किया था? क्या उन गायों के साथ रक्षक नहीं था? हमारे राष्ट्र पर अधिकार करने वाले लोग नष्ट हों. हमारी अभिलाषा को जानने वाले अग्नि हमारे पशुओं को निकट लावें. (५)
EN English Translation
Who separated cows from our nation? Wasn't there a protector with those cows? Let those perish, who take over our nation. Let the agni that knows our desire, bring our animals closer. (5)
व॒सां राजा॑नं वस॒तिं जना॑ना॒मरा॑तयो॒ नि द॑धु॒र्मर्त्ये॑षु । ब्रह्मा॒ण्यत्रे॒रव॒ तं सृ॑जन्तु निन्दि॒तारो॒ निन्द्या॑सो भवन्तु ॥ (६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
प्राणियों के राजा एवं मानवों के निवासरूप अग्नि को शत्रुओं ने प्रजाओं में छिपाकर रखा है. अत्रिगोत्र वाले वृक्ष के स्तोत्र अग्नि को उजागर करें एवं हमारे निंदक निंदा के पात्र बनें. (६)
EN English Translation
The king of beings and the habitat of human beings, agni has been hidden by the enemies in the people. Let the hymns of the tree with atrigotra light the agni and become the object of our blasphemous condemnation. (6)
शुन॑श्चि॒च्छेपं॒ निदि॑तं स॒हस्रा॒द्यूपा॑दमुञ्चो॒ अश॑मिष्ट॒ हि षः । ए॒वास्मद॑ग्ने॒ वि मु॑मुग्धि॒ पाशा॒न्होत॑श्चिकित्व इ॒ह तू नि॒षद्य॑ ॥ (७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अग्नि! तुमने भली प्रकार बंधे हुए शुनःशेप ऋषि को हजारों रूप वाले यूप से छुड़ाया था, क्योंकि उसने तुम्हारी स्तुति की थी. हे होता एवं ज्ञानसंपन्न अग्नि! इस वेदी पर बैठी एवं हमें सभी बंधनों से मुक्त करो. (७)
EN English Translation
O agni! You delivered the well-bound Sage Shunashep from the thousands of yupa, because he praised you. It was a wise and knowledgeable agni! Sit on this altar and free us from all bondage. (7)
हृ॒णी॒यमा॑नो॒ अप॒ हि मदैयेः॒ प्र मे॑ दे॒वानां॑ व्रत॒पा उ॑वाच । इन्द्रो॑ वि॒द्वाँ अनु॒ हि त्वा॑ च॒चक्ष॒ तेना॒हम॑ग्ने॒ अनु॑शिष्ट॒ आगा॑म् ॥ (८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अग्नि! तुम क्रुद्ध होने पर हमारे पास से चले जाते हो. देवों का व्रत पालन करने वाले इंद्र ने हमसे यह कहा था. विद्वान् इंद्र ने तुम्हें देखा था. हे अग्नि! उनके अनुशासन में रहकर हम तुम्हारे समीप आवेंगे. (८)
EN English Translation
O agni! You leave us when you're angry. Indra, who follows the fast of the gods, said this to us. The scholar Indra saw you. O agni! In their discipline, we will come close to you. (8)
वि ज्योति॑षा बृह॒ता भा॑त्य॒ग्निरा॒विर्विश्वा॑नि कृणुते महि॒त्वा । प्रादे॑वीर्मा॒याः स॑हते दु॒रेवाः॒ शिशी॑ते॒ शृङ्गे॒ रक्ष॑से वि॒निक्षे॑ ॥ (९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
अग्नि महान् तेज द्वारा विशेष प्रकार से चमकते हैं. एवं अपनी महिमा द्वारा सभी पदार्थो को प्रकट करते हैं. वे प्रज्वलित होकर आसुरी दुःखजनक माया को नष्ट करते हैं एवं राक्षसों को नष्ट करने हेतु ज्वालारूपी सींगों को पैना बनाते हैं. (९)
EN English Translation
Fire shines in a special way by great brightness. And by its glory they reveal all things. They ignite and destroy the asuras of sorrowful maya and sharpen the flamed horns to destroy the demons. (9)
उ॒त स्वा॒नासो॑ दि॒वि ष॑न्त्व॒ग्नेस्ति॒ग्मायु॑धा॒ रक्ष॑से॒ हन्त॒वा उ॑ । मदे॑ चिदस्य॒ प्र रु॑जन्ति॒ भामा॒ न व॑रन्ते परि॒बाधो॒ अदे॑वीः ॥ (१०)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
शब्द करने वाली अग्नि की ज्वालाएं तीखे आयुधों के समान राक्षसों को नष्ट करने के लिए स्वर्ग में उत्पन्न होती हैं. हर्षित होने पर अग्ने का प्रकाश राक्षसों को पीड़ा देता है. बाधा पहुंचाने वाली असुर-सेना अग्नि को नहीं रोक पाती. (१०)
EN English Translation
The flames of agni that do the word arise in heaven to destroy demons like sharp ordnances. The light of agne when joyful gives torment to the demons. The asura-army that obstructs cannot stop the agni. (10)
ए॒तं ते॒ स्तोमं॑ तुविजात॒ विप्रो॒ रथं॒ न धीरः॒ स्वपा॑ अतक्षम् । यदीद॑ग्ने॒ प्रति॒ त्वं दे॑व॒ हर्याः॒ स्व॑र्वतीर॒प ए॑ना जयेम ॥ (११)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अनेकरूप-धारक अग्नि! धीर एवं शोभन कर्म वाले लोग जिस प्रकार रथ बनाते हैं, उसी प्रकार हम स्तोताओं ने तुम्हारे लिए स्तुतियां बनाई हैं. हे अग्नि! यदि तुम इसे स्वीकार कर लो तो हम विस्तृत जय प्राप्त करेंगे. (११)
EN English Translation
O multi-form-bearing agni! Just as people with patience and good deeds make chariots, so we hymns have made praises for you. O agni! If you accept it, we will receive the detailed victory. (11)
तु॒वि॒ग्रीवो॑ वृष॒भो वा॑वृधा॒नो॑ऽश॒त्र्व१॒॑र्यः सम॑जाति॒ वेदः॑ । इती॒मम॒ग्निम॒मृता॑ अवोचन्ब॒र्हिष्म॑ते॒ मन॑वे॒ शर्म॑ यंसद्ध॒विष्म॑ते॒ मन॑वे॒ शर्म॑ यंसत् ॥ (१२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
अनेक ज्वालाओं वाले, कामवर्षी एवं बढ़ते हुए अग्नि अबाध रूप से शत्रु के धन पर अधिकार करते हैं. यह बात देवों ने अग्नि से कही थी. वे यज्ञ करने वाले एवं हवि देने वाले लोगों को सुख दें. (१२)
EN English Translation
Many flames, lustful and growing agnis occupy the enemy's wealth unhindered. This was said by the gods to the agni. They should give happiness to those who perform yajna and give happiness to those who give havi. (12)
