त्वम॑ग्ने॒ वरु॑णो॒ जाय॑से॒ यत्त्वं मि॒त्रो भ॑वसि॒ यत्समि॑द्धः । त्वे विश्वे॑ सहसस्पुत्र दे॒वास्त्वमिन्द्रो॑ दा॒शुषे॒ मर्त्या॑य ॥ (१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अग्नि! तुम उत्पन्न होते ही वरुण, (अंधकार निवारक एवं प्रज्वलित) होकर मित्र (हितकारी) बन जाते हो. सब देवगण तुम्हारे पीछे चलते हैं. हे बल के पुत्र! हव्य देने वाले यजमान के इंद्र तुम्हीं हो. (१)
EN English Translation
O agni! As soon as you are born, Varuna, (darkness-relieving and ignited) and become a friend (benefactor). All gods follow you. O son of force! You are the Indra of the host who gives the havya. (1)
त्वम॑र्य॒मा भ॑वसि॒ यत्क॒नीनां॒ नाम॑ स्वधाव॒न्गुह्यं॑ बिभर्षि । अ॒ञ्जन्ति॑ मि॒त्रं सुधि॑तं॒ न गोभि॒र्यद्दम्प॑ती॒ सम॑नसा कृ॒णोषि॑ ॥ (२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अग्नि! तुम कन्याओं के लिए अर्यमा (नियमन करने वाले) बनते हो. हे स्वधावान् अग्नि! तुम ही गोपनीय नाम 'वैश्वानर' धारण करते हो. जब तुम पति-पत्नी को एक मन वाला बना देते हो, तब वे तुम्हें मित्र मानकर गाय के दूध-घी से सींचते हैं. (२)
EN English Translation
O agni! You become aryama (regulating) for girls. O agni! You wear the secret name 'Vaishvanar'. When you make a husband and wife with one mind, then they consider you as friends and water it with cow's milk and ghee. (2)
तव॑ श्रि॒ये म॒रुतो॑ मर्जयन्त॒ रुद्र॒ यत्ते॒ जनि॑म॒ चारु॑ चि॒त्रम् । प॒दं यद्विष्णो॑रुप॒मं नि॒धायि॒ तेन॑ पासि॒ गुह्यं॒ नाम॒ गोना॑म् ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अग्नि! तुम्हारे बैठने के लिए मरुद्गण अंतरिक्ष को साफ करते हैं. हे इंद्र! तुम्हारे निमित्त विष्णु का व्यापक पद निश्चित है, जो विद्युत्संबंधी, चित्रविचित्र, मनोहर एवं अगम्य है, उसी पद पर रहकर तुम गोपनीय नामक उदक धारण करते हो. (३)
EN English Translation
O agni! The deserts clean up the space for you to sit. O Indra! For your sake, the broad post of Vishnu is certain, which is electric, pictorial, charming and inaccessible, in the same position you hold the udaka called Confidential. (3)
तव॑ श्रि॒या सु॒दृशो॑ देव दे॒वाः पु॒रू दधा॑ना अ॒मृतं॑ सपन्त । होता॑रम॒ग्निं मनु॑षो॒ नि षे॑दुर्दश॒स्यन्त॑ उ॒शिजः॒ शंस॑मा॒योः ॥ (४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अग्नि! तुम्हारी समृद्धि के द्वारा ही इंद्र आदि देव दर्शनीय बनते हैं एवं प्रीति धारण करते हुए अमृत प्राप्त करते हैं. ऋत्विज् फल चाहने वाले यजमान के कल्याण के निमित्त हव्य देते हुए होतारूप अग्नि की सेवा करते हैं. (४)
EN English Translation
O agni! It is through your prosperity that Indra, adi dev, becomes visible and receives nectar while wearing love. Those who want fruits serve the agni in the form of giving a havan for the welfare of the host. (4)
न त्वद्धोता॒ पूर्वो॑ अग्ने॒ यजी॑या॒न्न काव्यैः॑ प॒रो अ॑स्ति स्वधावः । वि॒शश्च॒ यस्या॒ अति॑थि॒र्भवा॑सि॒ स य॒ज्ञेन॑ वनवद्देव॒ मर्ता॑न् ॥ (५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अग्नि! तुम्हारे अतिरिक्त कोई होता, यज्ञ करने वाला एवं प्राचीन नहीं है. हे अन्न के स्वामी अग्नि! भविष्य में भी कोई तुम्हारे समान नहीं होगा. तुम जिस ऋत्विज् के अतिथि बनते हो. वह यज्ञ करके शत्रुओं को नष्ट कर देता है. (५)
EN English Translation
O agni! There would have been no one but you, the one who performs yajna and is not an elder. O agni, lord of the grain! In the future, no one will be the same as you. The ritwick of which you become guests. He destroys the enemies by performing yajna. (5)
व॒यम॑ग्ने वनुयाम॒ त्वोता॑ वसू॒यवो॑ ह॒विषा॒ बुध्य॑मानाः । व॒यं स॑म॒र्ये वि॒दथे॒ष्वह्नां॑ व॒यं रा॒या स॑हसस्पुत्र॒ मर्ता॑न् ॥ (६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अग्नि! हम तुम्हारे द्वारा सुरक्षित होकर शत्रुओं को पीड़ित करेंगे. धन की कामना करने वाले हम तुम्हें हव्य द्वारा प्रज्वलित करते हैं. हम यज्ञों में यश एवं युद्धं में विजय प्राप्त करें. हे बलपुत्र अग्नि! हम धन के साथ पुनत्र-पौत्र को प्राप्त करें. (६)
EN English Translation
O agni! We will be protected by you and afflict the enemies. We who wish for wealth ignite you with a havya. May we succeed in the yagnas and victory in the wars. O son of strength, agni! Let us get a re-grandson with money. (6)
यो न॒ आगो॑ अ॒भ्येनो॒ भरा॒त्यधीद॒घम॒घशं॑से दधात । ज॒ही चि॑कित्वो अ॒भिश॑स्तिमे॒तामग्ने॒ यो नो॑ म॒र्चय॑ति द्व॒येन॑ ॥ (७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जो व्यक्ति हमारे प्रति पाप या अपराध करता है, अग्नि उस पापी व्यक्ति के प्रति बुरा व्यवहार करें. हे जानकार अग्नि! जो पाप या अपराध द्वारा हमारे काम में बाधा डालता है, उसी पापी को नष्ट करो. (७)
EN English Translation
The person who commits sin or sin against us, let the agni behave badly towards that sinner. O knowledgeable agni! Who obstructs our work by sin or guilt, destroy the same sinner. (7)
त्वाम॒स्या व्युषि॑ देव॒ पूर्वे॑ दू॒तं कृ॑ण्वा॒ना अ॑यजन्त ह॒व्यैः । सं॒स्थे यद॑ग्न॒ ईय॑से रयी॒णां दे॒वो मर्तै॒र्वसु॑भिरि॒ध्यमा॑नः ॥ (८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे दीप्तियुक्त अग्नि! प्राचीन यजमान तुम्हें देवों का दूत बनाते हुए उषाकाल में यज्ञ करते थे. हे अग्नि! हव्य एकत्र हो जाने के बाद तुम तेजस्वी बनते हो एवं निवास देने वाले मानवों द्वारा प्रज्वलित किए जाते हो. (८)
EN English Translation
O glorious agni! The ancient hosts used to perform yajna in the ushakaal, making you the messenger of the gods. O agni! After the havan has been gathered, you become bright and are ignited by the humans who give the abode. (8)
अव॑ स्पृधि पि॒तरं॒ योधि॑ वि॒द्वान्पु॒त्रो यस्ते॑ सहसः सून ऊ॒हे । क॒दा चि॑कित्वो अ॒भि च॑क्षसे॒ नोऽग्ने॑ क॒दाँ ऋ॑त॒चिद्या॑तयासे ॥ (९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे बलपुत्र अग्नि! जो यजमान तुम्हें पिता जानता हुआ पुत्र के समान तुम्हारे हव्य को धारण करता है, उसे तुम पाप से अलग कर दो. हे जानकार अग्नि! तुम हमें कब देखोगे? हे यज्ञ की प्रेरणा देने वाले अग्नि! तुम हमें अच्छे रास्ते पर जाने की प्रेरणा कब दोगे? (९)
EN English Translation
O son of strength, agni! The host who holds your heart like a son knowing you as the Father, separate him from sin. O knowledgeable agni! When will you see us? O agni that inspires yajna! When will you inspire us to go on the good path? (9)
भूरि॒ नाम॒ वन्द॑मानो दधाति पि॒ता व॑सो॒ यदि॒ तज्जो॒षया॑से । कु॒विद्दे॒वस्य॒ सह॑सा चका॒नः सु॒म्नम॒ग्निर्व॑नते वावृधा॒नः ॥ (१०)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे निवासदाता एवं पालनकर्ता अग्नि! तुम हमें कब देखोगे? तुम उस हवि को स्वीकार करते हो जो तुम्हारे नाम की बार-बार वंदना करके दी जाती है. यजमान द्वारा बहुत हवि पाने के इच्छुक एवं बल से युक्त अन्ने वृद्धि पाकर सुख देते हैं. (१०)
EN English Translation
O lord and lord agni! When will you see us? You accept the havi that is given by revering your name again and again. The host gives pleasure by getting a lot of happiness and having strength and by getting growth. (10)
त्वम॒ङ्ग ज॑रि॒तारं॑ यविष्ठ॒ विश्वा॑न्यग्ने दुरि॒ताति॑ पर्षि । स्ते॒ना अ॑दृश्रन्रि॒पवो॒ जना॒सोऽज्ञा॑तकेता वृजि॒ना अ॑भूवन् ॥ (११)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे स्वामी एवं अतिशय युवा अग्नि! तुम स्तुतिकर्तता पर अनुग्रह करके उसे सभी पापों से छुड़ा देते हो. उसे चोर दिखाई देने लगते है एवं अनजाने चिहूनों वाले शत्रु लोग उससे दूर हो जाते हैं. (११)
EN English Translation
O master and very young agni! You give mercy to praise and deliver him from all sins. He begins to see a thief and the enemies of the unknown chihuns turn away from him. (11)
इ॒मे यामा॑सस्त्व॒द्रिग॑भूव॒न्वस॑वे वा॒ तदिदागो॑ अवाचि । नाहा॒यम॒ग्निर॒भिश॑स्तये नो॒ न रीष॑ते वावृधा॒नः परा॑ दात् ॥ (१२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
वे स्तुतिसमूह तुम्हारे सामने जाते हैं. निवासदाता अग्नि के सामने अपराध को स्वीकार करते हैं. अग्नि हमारी स्तुति से बढ़ते हुए हमें निंदक अथवा हिंसक के हाथ में न सौंपे. (१२)
EN English Translation
Those praise groups go before you. The residents admit to the crime in front of the agni. Let the agni grow out of our praise and not hand us over to the hands of the blasphemer or the violent. (12)
