अ॒ग्निं वो॑ दे॒वम॒ग्निभिः॑ स॒जोषा॒ यजि॑ष्ठं दू॒तम॑ध्व॒रे कृ॑णुध्वम् । यो मर्त्ये॑षु॒ निध्रु॑विरृ॒तावा॒ तपु॑र्मूर्धा घृ॒तान्नः॑ पाव॒कः ॥ (१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे देवो! तुम अन्य अग्नियों के साथ प्रकाशित एवं अतिशय यज्ञपात्र उन अग्नि देव को यज्ञों में देवों का दूत बनाओ, जो मनुष्यों में अधिक स्थिर, यज्ञयुक्त, तापसहित तेज वाले, घृतयुक्त अन्न वाले व शुद्धिकर्ता हैं. (१)
EN English Translation
Oh, God! You, along with other agnis, make those agni gods, illuminated and over-the-ageing, the messengers of the gods in the yagnas, who are more stable in human beings, sacrificial, fast-natured, with abrasive food and purifier. (1)
प्रोथ॒दश्वो॒ न यव॑सेऽवि॒ष्यन्य॒दा म॒हः सं॒वर॑णा॒द्व्यस्था॑त् । आद॑स्य॒ वातो॒ अनु॑ वाति शो॒चिरध॑ स्म ते॒ व्रज॑नं कृ॒ष्णम॑स्ति ॥ (२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जिस समय दारुरूप अग्नि घास खाते एवं हिनहिनाने वाले घोड़ों के समान पेड़ों में स्थित रहते हैं, उस समय उनकी दीप्ति वायु के सहारे प्रकाशित होती है. हे अग्नि! इसके पश्चात् तुम्हारा मार्ग काले रंग का हो जाता है. (२)
EN English Translation
At the time when the agnis are located in the trees like grass-eating and hinning horses, their brightness is illuminated by the wind. O agni! After that, your path becomes black. (2)
उद्यस्य॑ ते॒ नव॑जातस्य॒ वृष्णोऽग्ने॒ चर॑न्त्य॒जरा॑ इधा॒नाः । अच्छा॒ द्याम॑रु॒षो धू॒म ए॑ति॒ सं दू॒तो अ॑ग्न॒ ईय॑से॒ हि दे॒वान् ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे नवजात एवं कामपूरक अग्नि! तुम्हारी जो धूमरहित ज्वालाएं उठती हैं, उनको प्रकट करता हुआ धुआं आकाश में जाता है. हे अग्नि! तुम दूत बनकर देवों के पास जाते हो. (३)
EN English Translation
O nascent and work-full agni! The smoke that rises without smoke from you, the smoke that goes into the sky, revealing them. O agni! You go to the gods as messengers. (3)
वि यस्य॑ ते पृथि॒व्यां पाजो॒ अश्रे॑त्तृ॒षु यदन्ना॑ स॒मवृ॑क्त॒ जम्भैः॑ । सेने॑व सृ॒ष्टा प्रसि॑तिष्ट एति॒ यवं॒ न द॑स्म जु॒ह्वा॑ विवेक्षि ॥ (४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अग्नि! जिस समय तुम ज्वालारूपी दांतों से काष्ठरूपी अन्न को खाते हो, उस समय तुम्हारा तेज शीघ्रता से धरती पर फैलता है. तुम्हारी ज्वाला सेना के समान उन्मुक्त होकर जाती है. हे दर्शनीय अग्नि! तुम अपनी ज्वालाओं से काष्ठों में जौ आदि के समान प्रवेश करते हो. (४)
EN English Translation
O agni! At the time when you eat wooden grain with flammatic teeth, your speed quickly spreads to the earth. Your flame is liberated like an army. O glorious agni! You enter the woods from your flames like barley etc. (4)
तमिद्दो॒षा तमु॒षसि॒ यवि॑ष्ठम॒ग्निमत्यं॒ न म॑र्जयन्त॒ नरः॑ । नि॒शिशा॑ना॒ अति॑थिमस्य॒ योनौ॑ दी॒दाय॑ शो॒चिराहु॑तस्य॒ वृष्णः॑ ॥ (५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
अतिशय युवा अतिथि के समान पूज्य अग्नि को यज्ञशाला में रात-दिन प्रज्वलित करते हुए लोग सततगामी अश्व के समान उनकी पूजा करते हैं. बुलाए हुए एवं अभिलाषापूरक अग्नि की शिखा दीप्त होती है. (५)
EN English Translation
Like a very young guest, people worship him like a continuous horse, lighting the revered agni day and night in the yajnashala. The crest of the summoned and desireful agni is bright. (5)
सु॒सं॒दृक्ते॑ स्वनीक॒ प्रती॑कं॒ वि यद्रु॒क्मो न रोच॑स उपा॒के । दि॒वो न ते॑ तन्य॒तुरे॑ति॒ शुष्म॑श्चि॒त्रो न सूरः॒ प्रति॑ चक्षि भा॒नुम् ॥ (६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे शोभनतेज वाले अग्नि! तुम जिस समय सूर्य के समान हमारे पास विशेषरूप से चमकते हो. उस समय तुम्हारा रूप भली-भांति दर्शनीय होता है. तुम्हारा तेज स्वर्ग से वज्र के समान निकलता है. तुम सुंदर सूर्य के समान अपना प्रकाश फैलाते हो. (६)
EN English Translation
These are the agnis of adornment! The time when you shine especially near us like the sun. At that time your appearance is well-known. Your brightness comes out of heaven like a thunderbolt. You spread your light like the beautiful sun. (6)
यथा॑ वः॒ स्वाहा॒ग्नये॒ दाशे॑म॒ परीळा॑भिर्घृ॒तव॑द्भिश्च ह॒व्यैः । तेभि॑र्नो अग्ने॒ अमि॑तै॒र्महो॑भिः श॒तं पू॒र्भिराय॑सीभि॒र्नि पा॑हि ॥ (७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अग्नि! हम जिस प्रकार गव्य एवं घी आदि मिले हव्य द्वारा स्वाहा शब्द के साथ तुम्हें आहुति देते हैं, उसी प्रकार तुम असीमित तेजों के साथ लौहनिर्मित सौ नगरियों द्वारा हमारी रक्षा करो. (७)
EN English Translation
O agni! Just as we offer you with the word swaha by the word 'swaha' by the gift of gavya and ghee, so also protect us by a hundred cities made of iron with unlimited brightness. (7)
या वा॑ ते॒ सन्ति॑ दा॒शुषे॒ अधृ॑ष्टा॒ गिरो॑ वा॒ याभि॑र्नृ॒वती॑रुरु॒ष्याः । ताभि॑र्नः सूनो सहसो॒ नि पा॑हि॒ स्मत्सू॒रीञ्ज॑रि॒तॄञ्जा॑तवेदः ॥ (८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे बलपुत्र जातवेद एवं दानशील अग्नि! तुम अपनी शिखाओं एवं संतानयुक्त प्रजाओं की रक्षा करने वाले वचनों द्वारा हमारी रक्षा करो तथा प्रशंसनीय हव्य देने वाले स्तोताओं की रक्षा करो. (८)
EN English Translation
O balputra jatveda and danshil agni! Protect us with words that protect your crests and progeny, and protect the hymns who give praiseworthy words. (8)
निर्यत्पू॒तेव॒ स्वधि॑तिः॒ शुचि॒र्गात्स्वया॑ कृ॒पा त॒न्वा॒३॒॑ रोच॑मानः । आ यो मा॒त्रोरु॒शेन्यो॒ जनि॑ष्ट देव॒यज्या॑य सु॒क्रतुः॑ पाव॒कः ॥ (९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
विशुद्ध अग्नि जिस समय अपनी विशाल कृपा से दीप्त होकर काष्ठ से तेज फरसे के समान निकलते हैं, उस समय कमनीय, शोभनकर्मो वाले, पावक एवं मातारूप दो अरणियों से उत्पन्न अग्नि यज्ञ के योग्य बनते हैं. (९)
EN English Translation
At the time when pure agnis are illuminated by their immense grace and come out of the wood like a sharp furrow, at that time, the commenas, the ones of adornment, pavak and matarupa become worthy of the agni yajna produced by two aranis. (9)
ए॒ता नो॑ अग्ने॒ सौभ॑गा दिदी॒ह्यपि॒ क्रतुं॑ सु॒चेत॑सं वतेम । विश्वा॑ स्तो॒तृभ्यो॑ गृण॒ते च॑ सन्तु यू॒यं पा॑त स्व॒स्तिभिः॒ सदा॑ नः ॥ (१०)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अग्नि! हमें ये ही धन प्रदान करो. हम यज्ञकर्म करने वाला तथा उत्तम ज्ञानयुक्त पुत्र प्राप्त करें. सारा धन स्तोताओं एवं गान करने वालों को मिले. तुम कल्याणसाधनों द्वारा हमारी सदा रक्षा करो. (१०)
EN English Translation
O agni! Give us this money. Let us get a son who performs yajnakarma and has good knowledge. All the money went to the psalms and the singers. You always protect us by means of welfare. (10)
