प्रति॒ स्तोमे॑भिरु॒षसं॒ वसि॑ष्ठा गी॒र्भिर्विप्रा॑सः प्रथ॒मा अ॑बुध्रन् । वि॒व॒र्तय॑न्तीं॒ रज॑सी॒ सम॑न्ते आविष्कृण्व॒तीं भुव॑नानि॒ विश्वा॑ ॥ (१)

वसिष्ठगोत्रीय विप्र स्तुतियों एवं मंत्रसमूहों द्वारा उषा को सभी लोगों से पहले जगाते हैं. उषा समान भागों वाली द्यावा-पृथिवी को ढक लेती है एवं सारे भुवनों को प्रकट करती है. (१)
EN English Translation
Vasishthagotriya vipra awakens Usha before all the people through hymns and groups of mantras. Usha covers the dyava-prithvi with equal parts and reveals all the bhuvanas. (1)
ए॒षा स्या नव्य॒मायु॒र्दधा॑ना गू॒ढ्वी तमो॒ ज्योति॑षो॒षा अ॑बोधि । अग्र॑ एति युव॒तिरह्र॑याणा॒ प्राचि॑कित॒त्सूर्यं॑ य॒ज्ञम॒ग्निम् ॥ (२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
यह वही उषा है जो नवयौवन धारण करती हुई एवं अपने तेज द्वारा छिपे हुए अंधकार को नष्ट करती हुई सबको जगाती है. उषा लज्जाशील युवती के समान सूर्य के आगे-आगे चलती है तथा सूर्य, अग्नि और यज्ञ को प्रकट करती है. (२)
EN English Translation
It is the same Usha who wakes everyone up wearing a new age and destroying the darkness hidden by her brightness. Usha walks ahead of the sun like a shy young woman and reveals the sun, the agni and the yajna. (2)
अश्वा॑वती॒र्गोम॑तीर्न उ॒षासो॑ वी॒रव॑तीः॒ सद॑मुच्छन्तु भ॒द्राः । घृ॒तं दुहा॑ना वि॒श्वतः॒ प्रपी॑ता यू॒यं पा॑त स्व॒स्तिभिः॒ सदा॑ नः ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
अश्चों एवं गायों से युक्त, पुत्र देने वाली तथा प्रशंसनीय उषाएं अंधकार को सदा दूर करें. उषाएं जल दुहती हुई सब जगह बढ़ती हैं. हे देवो! तुम कल्याणसाधनों द्वारा हमारी सदा रक्षा करो. (३)
EN English Translation
May the sons-giving and admirable ushayas, full of ashes and cows, always remove the darkness. The usha grows everywhere by milking water. Oh, God! You always protect us by means of welfare. (3)
