इषु॒र्न धन्व॒न्प्रति॑ धीयते म॒तिर्व॒त्सो न मा॒तुरुप॑ स॒र्ज्यूध॑नि । उ॒रुधा॑रेव दुहे॒ अग्र॑ आय॒त्यस्य॑ व्र॒तेष्वपि॒ सोम॑ इष्यते ॥ (१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
पवमान सोमरूपी इंद्र के प्रति हम अपनी स्तुति इस प्रकार अर्पित करते हैं, जिस प्रकार धनुष पर बाण रखा जाता है. जिस प्रकार बछड़ा गाय के थन का दूध पीने के लिए जन्म लेता है, उसी प्रकार इंद्र के नशे के लिए सोम की उत्पत्ति हुई है. जिस प्रकार दुधारू गाय बछड़े के सामने आकर दूध देती है, उसी प्रकार इंद्र स्तोताओं के सामने आकर विविध अभिलाषाएं पूरी करते हैं. इंद्र के यज्ञों में सोम की आवश्यकता पड़ती है. EN English Translation
We offer our praises to the pavaman somrupi indra in the same way that the arrow is placed on the bow. Just as the calf is born to drink the milk of the cow's trunk, so so is the origin of Som for Indra's intoxication. Just as the milch cow comes in front of the calf and gives milk, in the same way Indra comes in front of the stoetas and fulfills various desires. Som is required in indra's yajnas. (1)
उपो॑ म॒तिः पृ॒च्यते॑ सि॒च्यते॒ मधु॑ म॒न्द्राज॑नी चोदते अ॒न्तरा॒सनि॑ । पव॑मानः संत॒निः प्र॑घ्न॒तामि॑व॒ मधु॑मान्द्र॒प्सः परि॒ वार॑मर्षति ॥ (२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
स्तोताओं द्वारा सोमरूप इंद्र की स्तुति की जाती है एवं इंद्र के निमित्त सोमरस में जल मिलाया जाता है. नशीले सोमरस की धारा इंद्र के मुख में पहुंचती है. जिस तरह मारने में कुशल योद्धाओं का बाण शीघ्र ही निशाने पर पहुंच जाता है, उसी प्रकार विस्तृत, मादक रस वाले, छनने वाले एवं शीघ्र गतिशील सोम भेड़ के बालों से बने दशापवित्र पर आते हैं. EN English Translation
Somrup Indra is praised by the stotas and water is added to the Somras for the sake of Indra. The stream of intoxicating somras reaches indra's mouth. Just as the arrows of warriors skilled in killing quickly reach the target, so the wide, intoxicating, intoxicating, filtering and quickly moving Mon comes on the dashapavitra made of sheep's hair. (2)
अव्ये॑ वधू॒युः प॑वते॒ परि॑ त्व॒चि श्र॑थ्नी॒ते न॒प्तीरदि॑तेरृ॒तं य॒ते । हरि॑रक्रान्यज॒तः सं॑य॒तो मदो॑ नृ॒म्णा शिशा॑नो महि॒षो न शो॑भते ॥ (३)

जलरूपी वधू से मिलने के लिए सोम भेड़ के चमड़े पर आते हैं. सोम यज्ञ में आकर धरती पर उत्पन्न ओषधियों को यजमानों के लिए फूल वाली बनाते हैं. हरे रंग वाले, सबके यज्ञ-योग्य एवं संगृहीत सोम शत्रुओं को पराजित करते हैं. महान् के समान सर्वत्र व्यापक सोम शत्रुओं के बलों को क्षीण करते हुए अपने तेज से चमकते हैं. (३)
EN English Translation
Mon comes on sheep's leather to meet the jalrupi bride. Som comes to the yagna and makes the herbs produced on earth flowery for the hosts. The green ones, the sacrificial and collected mons of all, defeat the enemies. Like the Great, the broad Mons everywhere shine with their brightness, attenuating the forces of the enemies. (3)
उ॒क्षा मि॑माति॒ प्रति॑ यन्ति धे॒नवो॑ दे॒वस्य॑ दे॒वीरुप॑ यन्ति निष्कृ॒तम् । अत्य॑क्रमी॒दर्जु॑नं॒ वार॑म॒व्यय॒मत्कं॒ न नि॒क्तं परि॒ सोमो॑ अव्यत ॥ (४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जिस प्रकार वीर्यसेचन करने वाला बैल गरजता है तथा गाएं उसकी ओर जाती हैं, उसी प्रकार शब्द करके द्रोणकलश में जाने वाले सोम का अनुगमन धाराएं करती हैं. सोम सफेद रंग वाले एवं भेड़ के बालों से बने दशापवित्र को पार करते हैं एवं अपने कवच के समान दूध से अपने को ढकते हैं. (४)
EN English Translation
Just as the ox that ejaculates thunders and sings towards it, so the words follow the mon who goes to Dronakalash. Mon crosses the dashapavitra made of white coloured and sheep's hair and covers himself with milk like his armor. (4)
अमृ॑क्तेन॒ रुश॑ता॒ वास॑सा॒ हरि॒रम॑र्त्यो निर्णिजा॒नः परि॑ व्यत । दि॒वस्पृ॒ष्ठं ब॒र्हणा॑ नि॒र्णिजे॑ कृतोप॒स्तर॑णं च॒म्वो॑र्नभ॒स्मय॑म् ॥ (५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हरितवर्ण एवं मरणरहित सोम मसले जाते समय स्वतः श्वेत दूधरूपी वस्त्र से चारों ओर से ढक जाते हैं. सोम ने सूर्य को द्युलोक के ऊपर पापनाशी शोधन के लिए स्थापित किया था तथा द्यावा-पृथिवी के ऊपर आदित्य का तेज इसलिए स्थापित किया था, जिससे सब शुद्ध हो सकें. (५)
EN English Translation
Greenish and dieless somas are automatically covered around with white milky cloth when they are mashed. Som had installed the Sun on top of The Dulok for sinashi purification and installed aditya's brightness on the dyava-prithvivi so that all could be purified. (5)
सूर्य॑स्येव र॒श्मयो॑ द्रावयि॒त्नवो॑ मत्स॒रासः॑ प्र॒सुपः॑ सा॒कमी॑रते । तन्तुं॑ त॒तं परि॒ सर्गा॑स आ॒शवो॒ नेन्द्रा॑दृ॒ते प॑वते॒ धाम॒ किं च॒न ॥ (६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
सूर्य की किरणों के समान सब जगह बहने वाले, नशीले, शत्रुओं को मारने वाले, चमसों में फैले हुए एवं निर्मित सोम विस्तृत एवं धागों से बने वस्त्र के चारों ओर जाते हैं. सोम इंद्र के अतिरिक्त किसी के लिए नहीं छनते. (६)
EN English Translation
Like the sun's rays, the somas flowing everywhere, intoxicating, killing enemies, spread out in the spoons and made of spoons, go around the vast and threaded robes. Som does not filter for anyone except Indra. (6)
सिन्धो॑रिव प्रव॒णे नि॒म्न आ॒शवो॒ वृष॑च्युता॒ मदा॑सो गा॒तुमा॑शत । शं नो॑ निवे॒शे द्वि॒पदे॒ चतु॑ष्पदे॒ऽस्मे वाजाः॑ सोम तिष्ठन्तु कृ॒ष्टयः॑ ॥ (७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जिस प्रकार नदियां सागर में मिलती हैं, उसी प्रकार ऋत्विजों द्वारा निचोड़े गए नशीले सोम इंद्र के पास पहुंचते हैं. हे सोम! हमारे घर में पशुओं एवं परिवारीजनों को सुख दो तथा हमें अन्न और संतान दो. (७)
EN English Translation
Just as rivers meet in the sea, so the intoxicating Som, squeezed by the Ritvijas, approaches Indra. Hey Mon! Give happiness to the animals and family members in our house and give us food and children. (7)
आ नः॑ पवस्व॒ वसु॑म॒द्धिर॑ण्यव॒दश्वा॑व॒द्गोम॒द्यव॑मत्सु॒वीर्य॑म् । यू॒यं हि सो॑म पि॒तरो॒ मम॒ स्थन॑ दि॒वो मू॒र्धानः॒ प्रस्थि॑ता वय॒स्कृतः॑ ॥ (८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे सोम! तुम हमें वसु, स्वर्ण, अश्व, गाय व जौ से युक्त एवं शोभन वीर्य वाला धन दो. हे सोम! तुम मेरे पिता अंगिरा ऋषि के भी पिता हो. तुम स्वर्ग के शीश पर स्थित एवं अन्नकर्ता हो. (८)
EN English Translation
Hey Mon! You give us money containing vasu, gold, horse, cow and barley and with a lot of semen. Hey Mon! You are also the father of my father Angira Rishi. You are located on the sheel of heaven and you are the doer of food. (8)
ए॒ते सोमाः॒ पव॑मानास॒ इन्द्रं॒ रथा॑ इव॒ प्र य॑युः सा॒तिमच्छ॑ । सु॒ताः प॒वित्र॒मति॑ य॒न्त्यव्यं॑ हि॒त्वी व॒व्रिं ह॒रितो॑ वृ॒ष्टिमच्छ॑ ॥ (९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जिस प्रकार इंद्र के रथ संग्राम की ओर जाते हैं, उसी प्रकार हमारे द्वारा निचोड़े गए एवं छनते हुए सोम इंद्र के समीप जाते हैं. पत्थरों की सहायता से निचोड़े गए सोम भेड़ के बालों से बने दशापवित्र को पार करते हैं. हरे रंग के सोम बुढ़ापे को छोड़कर वर्षा को प्रेरित करते हैं. (९)
EN English Translation
Just as Indra's chariots go towards the struggle, so the so, having been squeezed and filtered by us, goes near To Som Indra. The soma squeezed with the help of stones crosses the dasapavitra made of sheep's hair. The green mons inspire rain except for old age. (9)
इन्द॒विन्द्रा॑य बृह॒ते प॑वस्व सुमृळी॒को अ॑नव॒द्यो रि॒शादाः॑ । भरा॑ च॒न्द्राणि॑ गृण॒ते वसू॑नि दे॒वैर्द्या॑वापृथिवी॒ प्राव॑तं नः ॥ (१०)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे सोम! तुम महान् इंद्र के लिए पवित्र बनो. तुम इंद्र को भली-भांति सुख देने वाले, निंदारहित एवं बाधकों को हराने वाले हो. तुम मुझ स्तोता को आह्णादक धन दो. द्यावा- पृथिवी उत्तम धन देकर हमारी रक्षा करें. (१०)
EN English Translation
Hey Mon! Be holy to the great Indra. You are the ones who give indra good pleasure, unsensure and defeat the hinderers. You give me the money to the parrot. Diva- Protect us by giving the best money to the earth. (10)
