स॒त्येनोत्त॑भिता॒ भूमिः॒ सूर्ये॒णोत्त॑भिता॒ द्यौः । ऋ॒तेना॑दि॒त्यास्ति॑ष्ठन्ति दि॒वि सोमो॒ अधि॑ श्रि॒तः ॥ (१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
सत्य से भूमि और सूर्य से आकाश स्थित है. सूर्य के बिना आकाश में चंद्रमा स्थित नहीं होता. (१)
EN English Translation
Truth is situated by land and sun by sky. Without the sun, the moon is not located in the sky. (1)
सोमे॑नादि॒त्याब॒लिनः॒ सोमे॑न पृथि॒वी म॒ही । अथो॒ नक्ष॑त्राणामे॒षामु॒पस्थे॒ सोम॒ आहि॑तः ॥ (२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
सोम के कारण आदित्य बलशाली है तथा सोम के कारण पृथ्वी विशाल है. इसी कारण यह सोम नक्षत्रों के समीप रहता है. (२)
EN English Translation
Aditya is strong because of Som and Earth is huge because of Som. For this reason, it lives near Som Nakshatras. (2)
सोमं॑ मन्यतेपपि॒वान्यत्सं॑पिं॒षन्त्योष॑धिम् । सोमं॒ यं ब्र॒ह्माणो॑ वि॒दुर्न तस्या॑श्नाति॒पार्थि॑वः ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जो सोम रूप ओषधि को पीस कर पीते हैं, वे अग्नि को सोमपान करने वाला समझते हैं. ज्ञानी जन जिस सोम को जानते हैं, उस का भक्षण साधारण प्राणी नहीं कर सकते. (३)
EN English Translation
Those who grind and drink the soma form medicine, they consider agni to be the one who drinks soma. Ordinary beings cannot eat the som that the knowledgeable people know. (3)
यत्त्वा॑ सोमप्र॒पिब॑न्ति॒ तत॒ आ प्या॑यसे॒ पुनः॑ । वा॒युः सोम॑स्य रक्षि॒ता समा॑नां॒ मास॒आकृ॑तिः ॥ (४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे सोम! पुरुष तुम्हें पीते हैं, फिर भी तुम वृद्धि को प्राप्त होते रहते हो. अनेक संवत्सरों रूप से वायु इस सोम की रक्षा करता है. (४)
EN English Translation
O Mon! Men drink you, yet you continue to grow. Air protects this Som in many Samvatsars. (4)
आ॒च्छद्वि॑धानैर्गुपि॒तो बार्ह॑तैः सोमः रक्षि॒तः । ग्राव्णा॒मिच्छृ॒ण्वन्ति॑ष्ठसि॒न ते॑ अश्नाति॒ पार्थि॑वः ॥ (५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे सोम! बृहती छंदों वाले कर्मो से तथा आच्छद विधानों से तुम्हारी रक्षा होती है. सोम कूटने के पाषाण से जो शब्द होता है, उस से तुम्हारी स्थिति है. पार्थिव जीव तुम्हारा सेवन नहीं कर सके. (५)
EN English Translation
O Mon! You are protected from the deeds of great verses and from the laws of the shadow. You have a position with the word that comes from the stone of soma kootne. The terrestrial creatures could not consume you. (5)
चित्ति॑राउप॒बर्ह॑णं॒ चक्षु॑रा अ॒भ्यञ्ज॑नम् । द्यौर्भूमिः॒ कोश॒ आसी॒द्यदया॑त्सू॒र्यापति॑म् ॥ (६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जब सूर्या अपने पति के पास गई, तब ज्ञान उस का तकिया तथा चक्षु ही अंजन बने. आकाश और पृथ्वी उस के कोष थे. (६)
EN English Translation
When Surya went to her husband, knowledge became Anjan, her pillow and eyes became Anjan. The sky and the earth were his treasures. (6)
रैभ्या॑सीदनु॒देयी॑ नाराशं॒सी न्योच॑नी । सू॒र्याया॑ भ॒द्रमिद्वासो॒ गाथ॑यति॒परि॑ष्कृता ॥ (७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
वेदमंत्रों के साथ उस की पिता के घर से विदाई हुई. मंत्रों से ही पति गृह में उस का स्वागत हुआ. मंत्रों के द्वारा पवित्र बना पति के घर का वस्त्र उस वधू का कल्याण करता है. (७)
EN English Translation
He was farewell from his father's house with Vedamantras. She was welcomed in the husband's house only with mantras. The cloth of the husband's house made pure by mantras welfares the bride. (7)
स्तोमा॑आसन्प्रति॒धयः॑ कु॒रीरं॒ छन्द॑ ओप॒शः । सू॒र्याया॑ अ॒श्विना॑व॒राग्निरा॑सीत्पुरोग॒वः ॥ (८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
पति के घर के यज्ञ वधू के लिए भोग तथा वेदमंत्र ही उस के आभूषण हुए थे. कुरीर नाम का छंद उस के शरीर का आभूषण बना. दोनों अश्विनीकुमार सूर्य के घर में और अग्नि देव उस के आगे चल रहे थे. (८)
EN English Translation
Bhog and Vedamantra were her ornaments for the sacrificial bride of her husband's house. The verse named Kurir became the ornament of his body. Both Ashwinikumar was walking in Surya's house and Agni Dev was walking in front of him. (8)
सोमो॑वधू॒युर॑भवद॒श्विना॑स्तामु॒भा व॒रा । सू॒र्यां यत्पत्ये॒ शंस॑न्तीं॒ मन॑सासवि॒ताद॑दात् ॥ (९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
सोम वधू की इच्छा करने वाले हुए. दोनों अश्विनीकुमार उन के साक्षी थे. तब सविता ने मन से स्तुति करने वाली सूर्या को पति के हाथ में दान के रूप में दिया. (९)
EN English Translation
Som was the one who wanted the bride. Both Ashwinikumars were witnesses to them. Then Savita gave surya, who praised her heart, as a donation in the hands of her husband. (9)
मनो॑ अस्या॒ अन॑आसी॒द्द्यौरा॑सीदु॒त च्छ॒दिः । शु॒क्राव॑न॒ड्वाहा॑वास्तां॒ यदया॑त्सू॒र्या पति॑म् ॥ (१०)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जब सूर्या अपने पति को प्राप्त हुई तब मन रथ बना तथा द्युलोक उस की छत हुआ. उस रथ में दो बलवान बैल जुड़े हुए थे. (१०)
EN English Translation
When Surya received her husband, the mind became a chariot and Dyulok became its roof. Two strong bulls were attached to that chariot. (10)
ऋक्सा॒माभ्या॑म॒भिहि॑तौ॒ गावौ॑ ते साम॒नावै॑ताम् । श्रोत्रे॑ ते च॒क्रे आ॑स्तांदि॒वि पन्था॑श्चराच॒रः ॥ (११)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
ऋग्वेद और सामवेद से अभिमंत्रित तेरे दोनों बल शक्तिपूर्वक चलते हैं. दोनों कान तेरे रथ के दो पहिए हैं. द्युलोक में तेरा चर और अचर मार्ग है. (११)
EN English Translation
Both your forces, invoked by rigveda and samaveda, move powerfully. Both ears are the two wheels of your chariot. In The World, you have a variable and a constant path. (11)
शुची॑ ते च॒क्रेया॒त्या व्या॒नो अ॑क्ष॒ आह॑तः । अनो॑ मन॒स्मयं॑ सू॒र्यारो॑हत्प्रय॒ती पति॑म् ॥ (१२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
तुझे ले जाने वाले रथ के दोनों पहिए शुद्ध हैं. उस रथ के अक्ष के स्थान पर व्यान नामक वायु रखी है. अपने पति के पास जाने वाली सूर्या इस मनोमय रथ पर चढ़ती है. (१२)
EN English Translation
Both the wheels of the chariot carrying you are pure. In place of the axis of that chariot, air called Vyan is placed. Surya, who goes to her husband, climbs on this enchanting chariot. (12)
सू॒र्याया॑वह॒तुः प्रागा॑त्सवि॒ता यम॒वासृ॑जत् । म॒घासु॑ ह॒न्यन्ते॒ गावः॒ फल्गु॑नीषु॒व्युह्यते ॥ (१३)

सविता देव ने जिस को भेजा था, सूर्या का वह उपहार आगे गया है. मघा नक्षत्र में गाएं भेजी जाती हैं और फाल्गुनी नक्षत्रों में विवाह होता है. (१३)
EN English Translation
The gifts, which Savita Dev had sent to Surya, has gone ahead. Cows are sent in Magha Nakshatra and marriage takes place in Falguni Nakshatra. (13)
यद॑श्विनापृ॒च्छमा॑ना॒वया॑तं त्रिच॒क्रेण॑ वह॒तुं सू॒र्यायाः॑ । क्वैकं॑ च॒क्रंवा॑मासी॒त्क्व दे॒ष्ट्राय॑ तस्थथुः ॥ (१४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अश्विनीकुमारो! जब तुम सूर्या का उपहार ले कर चले, उस समय तुम देवों को पूछते हुए तीन पहियों वाले रथ के सहारे चले. तुम्हारा वह कर्म सब देवों को रुचिकर प्रतीत हुआ. पुषा ने तुम्हें इस प्रकार स्वीकार किया जैसे पुत्र पिता को स्वीकार करता है. (१४)
EN English Translation
O Ashwini Kumar! When you carry surya's gift, you walk on a three-wheeled chariot asking the gods. That deed of yours seemed interesting to all the gods. Pusha accepted you just as the son accepts the Father. (14)
यदया॑तं शुभस्पतीवरे॒यं सू॒र्यामुप॑ । विश्वे॑ दे॒वा अनु॒ तद्वा॑मजानन्पु॒त्रः पि॒तर॑मवृणीतपू॒षा ॥ (१५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे सूर्या! तेरे रथ के दोनों चक्रों को ज्ञानीजन ऋतु के अनुसार जानते हैं. तेरे रथ का जो एक चक्र गुप्त है, उसे विशेष ज्ञानी ही जानते हैं. (१५)
EN English Translation
O Sun! The wise know both the chakras of your chariot according to the season. Only those who know the one cycle of your chariot that is secret know it. (15)
द्वे ते॑ च॒क्रेसूर्ये॑ ब्र॒ह्माण॑ ऋतु॒था वि॑दुः । अथैकं॑ च॒क्रं यद्गुहा॒ तद॑द्धा॒तय॒इद्वि॒दुः ॥ (१६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे शुभ करने वाले अश्चिनीकुमारो! तुम दोनों जब वर के द्वारा पूछने योग्य सूर्य के समीप गए, तुम्हारे उसे कर्म को सभी देवों ने सराहा. पूषा ने तुम्हें उसी प्रकार स्वीकार किया जिस प्रकार पुत्र पिता को स्वीकार करता है. (१६)
EN English Translation
O auspicious aschini kumaras! When both of you went near the sun worthy of asking for by the groom, your deeds were appreciated by all the gods. Pusha accepted you just as the son accepts the Father. (16)
अ॑र्य॒मणं॑यजामहे सुब॒न्धुं प॑ति॒वेद॑नम् । उ॑र्वारु॒कमि॑व॒ बन्ध॑ना॒त्प्रेतो मु॑ञ्चामि॒नामुतः॑ ॥ (१७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
अच्छे बंधुबांधवों से युक्त पति का ज्ञान देने वाले तथा श्रेष्ठ मनवाले हम तेरा सत्कार करते हैं. खरबूजा जिस प्रकार अपनी बेल से छूट जाता है, उसी प्रकार मैं तुझे तेरे पितृकुल से छुड़ाता हूं, मैं तुझे पतिकुल से अलग नहीं करता. (१७)
EN English Translation
We welcome you who give you the knowledge of a husband with good brothers and sisters and a good mind. Just as melon is released from its vine, so I deliver you from your father's family, I do not separate you from the husband. (17)
प्रेतोमु॑ञ्चामि॒ नामुतः॑ सुब॒द्धाम॒मुत॑स्करम् । यथे॒यमि॑न्द्र मीढ्वः सुपु॒त्रासु॒भगास॑ति ॥ (१८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
मैं तुझे तेरे पितृकुल से मुक्त करता हूं, पतिकुल से नहीं. पतिकुल से तो मैं तुझे भलीभांति बांधता हूं. हे दाता इंद्र! ऐसी कृपा करो कि यह वधू उत्तम पुत्रों वाली तथा सौभाग्यशालिनी बने. (१८)
EN English Translation
I free you from your patriarchy, not from your husband. I bind you well with my husband. O Giver Indra! Please make this bride with good sons and a lucky daughter. (18)
प्र त्वा॑मुञ्चामि॒ वरु॑णस्य॒ पाशा॒द्येन॒ त्वाब॑ध्नात्सवि॒ता सु॒शेवाः॑ । ऋ॒तस्य॒ योनौ॑सुकृ॒तस्य॑ लो॒के स्यो॒नं ते॑ अस्तु स॒हसं॑भलायै ॥ (१९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
मैं तुझे वरुण के उस शाप से मुक्त करता हूं, जिस से तुझे सेवा करने योग्य सविता ने बांधा था. सदाचारी और उत्तम कर्म करने वाले पति के घर में तुझे सुख प्राप्त हो. (१९)
EN English Translation
I free you from the curse of Varuna, with which you were bound by a serviceable Savita. May you get happiness in the house of a virtuous and good deed husband. (19)
भग॑स्त्वे॒तोन॑यतु हस्त॒गृह्या॒श्विना॑ त्वा॒ प्र व॑हतां॒ रथे॑न । गृ॒हान्ग॑च्छ गृ॒हप॑त्नी॒यथासो॑ व॒शिनी॒ त्वं वि॒दथ॒मा व॑दासि ॥ (२०)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
भग नाम के देव तेरा हाथ पकड़ कर तुझे यहां से चलाएं. अश्विनीकुमार तुझे रथ में बैठा कर तेरे पति के घर पहुंचाएं. तू अपने पति के घर को जा. वहां तू घर की स्वामिनी बन और सब को वश में रख. पति के घर में तू उत्तम विवेक की बात कह. (२०)
EN English Translation
God named Bhaga, hold your hand and drive you from here. Ashwinikumar, sit in the chariot and take you to your husband's house. Go to your husband's house. There you become the owner of the house and control everyone. In your husband's house, you speak of good conscience. (20)
इ॒ह प्रि॒यंप्र॒जायै॑ ते॒ समृ॑ध्यताम॒स्मिन्गृ॒हे गार्ह॑पत्याय जागृहि । ए॒ना पत्या॑त॒न्वं सं स्पृ॑श॒स्वाथ॒ जिर्वि॑र्वि॒दथ॒मा व॑दासि ॥ (२१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
अपने पति के घर में तू गार्हपत्य अग्नि के प्रति सचेत रह. तेरी संतान के लिए वस्तुएं बढ़ें. तू अपनी आयु पूर्ण होने तक बोलती रहे. (२१)
EN English Translation
In your husband's house, you should be aware of the agni of agni. Increase things for your children. You kept speaking till you complete your age. (21)
इ॒हैव स्तं॒ मावि यौ॑ष्टं॒ विश्व॒मायु॒र्व्यश्नुतम् । क्रीड॑न्तौपु॒त्रैर्नप्तृ॑भि॒र्मोद॑मानौ स्वस्त॒कौ ॥ (२२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
तुम दोनों पतिपत्नी सदा साथ रहो. तुम कभी एकदूसरे से अलग मत होओ. तुम दोनों जीवन पर्यंत अनेक प्रकार के भोजन करो, अपने पुत्र आदि के साथ क्रीड़ा कर के तथा कल्याण से मुक्त होते हुए सदा प्रसन्न रहो. (२२)
EN English Translation
May you two husband and wife always be together. You should never be different from each other. Both of you should eat many types of food throughout your life, play with your son etc. and always be happy while being free from welfare. (22)
पू॑र्वाप॒रंच॑रतो मा॒ययैतौ शिशू॒ क्रीड॑न्तौ॒ परि॑ यातोऽर्ण॒वम् । विश्वा॒न्यो भुव॑नावि॒चष्ट॑ ऋ॒तूँर॒न्यो वि॒दध॑ज्जायसे॒ नवः॑ ॥ (२३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
ये सूर्य और चंद्रमा शिशु के समान क्रीड़ा करते हुए पूर्व से पश्चिम की ओर गमन करते हैं. इन में से एक अर्थात् सूर्य लोकों को देखता हुआ ऋतुओं का निर्माण करता है तथा नवीन रूप में प्रकट होता है. (२३)
EN English Translation
These sun and moon move from east to west, playing like a baby. One of these i.e. the sun creates seasons while looking at the worlds and appears in a new form. (23)
नवो॑नवो भवसि॒जाय॑मा॒नोऽह्नां॑ के॒तुरु॒षसा॑मे॒ष्यग्र॑म् । भा॒गं दे॒वेभ्यो॒ विद॑धास्या॒यन्प्र च॑न्द्रमस्तिरसे दी॒र्घमायुः॑ ॥ (२४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे चंद्र! तुम मास में स्थित हो कर सदा नवीन रहते हो. तुम अपनी कलाओं को घटाते और बढ़ाते हुए प्रतिपदा आदि तिथियों का निर्माण करते हो. तुम उषा काल में आगे आ कर देवों को उत्तम भाग देते हो तथा सभी को दीर्घ जीवन प्रदान करते हो. (२४)
EN English Translation
O moon! You are always new by being located in the month. You create dates like Pratipada etc. by reducing and increasing your arts. You come forward in the usha period and give the gods a good share and give a long life to everyone. (24)
परा॑ देहिशामु॒ल्यं ब्र॒ह्मभ्यो॒ वि भ॑जा॒ वसु॑ । कृ॒त्यैषा॑ प॒द्वती॑ भू॒त्वा जा॒यावि॑शते॒ पति॑म् ॥ (२५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे वर! तुम उत्तम वस्त्रदान करो तथा ब्राह्मणों को धन दो, जब यह कृत्या अर्थात् विनाशक स्वभाव वाली स्त्री बन कर पति के समीप जाती है. (२५)
EN English Translation
Hey on! You should donate good clothes and give money to Brahmins, when this act, that is, a woman with a destructive nature, goes near her husband. (25)
नी॑ललोहि॒तंभ॑वति कृ॒त्यास॒क्तिर्व्यज्यते । एध॑न्ते अस्या ज्ञा॒तयः॒ पति॑र्ब॒न्धेषु॑बध्यते ॥ (२६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जब नीला और लाल वस्त्र होता है अथवा पुरुष क्रोधित होता है, तभी यह कृत्या अर्थात् विनाशक स्वभाव वाली स्त्री बढ़ती है तथा इस की जाति के मनुष्यों की वृद्धि होती है. इसी के कारण इस का पति बंधन में बंध जाता है. (२६)
EN English Translation
When there is blue and red clothes or the man is angry, then only this act, that is, the woman with a destructive nature, grows and the human beings of her race increase. Due to this, her husband is tied in bondage. (26)
अ॑श्ली॒लात॒नूर्भ॑वति॒ रुश॑ती पा॒पया॑मु॒या । पति॒र्यद्व॒ध्वो॒ वास॑सः॒स्वमङ्ग॑मभ्यूर्णु॒ते ॥ (२७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जब पत्नी के वस्त्र से पति अपना शरीर ढकता है, तब सुंदर शरीर वाला पति भी इस पाप पूर्ण रीति के कारण शोभाहीन हो जाता है. (२७)
EN English Translation
When the husband covers his body with the wife's cloth, then the husband with a beautiful body also becomes graceless due to this sinful manner. (27)
आ॒शस॑नंवि॒शस॑न॒मथो॑ अधिवि॒कर्त॑नम् । सू॒र्यायाः॑ पश्य रू॒पाणि॒ तानि॑ ब्र॒ह्मोतशु॑म्भति ॥ (२८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
धारी वाले वस्त्रों में सिर के वस्त्र तथा सभी अंगों पर रहने वाले वस्त्रं में कृत्या अर्थात् दुष्ट स्वभाव वाली स्त्री के रूपों को देखो. इन रूपों को ब्रह्मा ही तेजस्वी करता है. (२८)
EN English Translation
Look at the forms of a woman with an evil nature in the clothes of the head in the striped clothes and in the clothes on all the organs. It is Brahma who makes these forms bright. (28)
तृ॒ष्टमे॒तत्कटु॑कमपा॒ष्ठव॑द्वि॒षव॒न्नैतदत्त॑वे । सू॒र्यां यो ब्र॒ह्मा वेद॒ सइद्वाधू॑यमर्हति ॥ (२९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
यह अन्न प्यास उत्पन्न करने वाला तथा कड़वा है. यह अन्न घृणित तथा विषैला है. यह खाने योग्य नहीं है. जो ब्राह्मण सूर्या को इस प्रकार की शिक्षा देता है, वह निश्चित रूप से वधू संबंधी वस्त्र लेने योग्य है. (२९)
EN English Translation
This food is thirsty and bitter. This food is disgusting and poisonous. It is not edible. The Brahmin who teaches Surya this kind of education is definitely eligible to take bride-related clothes. (29)
स इत्तत्स्यो॒नंह॑रति ब्र॒ह्मा वासः॑ सुम॒ङ्गल॑म् । प्राय॑श्चित्तिं॒ यो अ॒ध्येति॒ येन॑ जा॒या नरिष्य॑ति ॥ (३०)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जिस वस्त्र से प्रायश्चित्त होता है अर्थात् चित् की शुद्धि होती है तथा जिस के कारण पत्नी मरण को प्राप्त नहीं होती है, उस कल्याणकारी वस्त्र को ब्रह्मा धारण करता है. (३०)
EN English Translation
Brahma wears the welfare cloth from which atonement is done, that is, the chit is purified and due to which the wife does not attain death. (30)
