Kanda 19 • Sukta 15
यत॑ इन्द्र॒ भया॑महे॒ ततो॑ नो॒ अभ॑यं कृधि । मघ॑वञ्छ॒ग्धि तव॒ त्वं न॑ ऊ॒तिभि॒र्वि द्विषो॒ वि मृधो॑ जहि ॥ (१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अभय करने वाले इंद्र! हम भयभीत हैं. इसलिए हमारे भय के कारण उपद्रव को समाप्त कर के हमें भय रहित बनाइए. हे धनवान इंद्र! तुम अपने रक्षा साधनों से हमारी रक्षा करने के लिए समर्थ बनो. तुम हमारे शत्रुओं को नष्ट करो तथा हमारे शत्रु संबंधी संग्रामों में हमें विजयी बनाओ. (१)
EN English Translation
O fearless Indra! We are scared. so our fear causes trouble us. Make us fearless. O rich Indra! You protect us with your means of defense. You destroy our enemies and in our enemy battles make us victorious (1)
इन्द्रं॑ व॒यम॑नूरा॒धं ह॑वाम॒हेऽनु॑ राध्यास्म द्वि॒पदा॒ चतु॑ष्पदा । मा नः॒ सेना॒ अर॑रुषी॒रुप॑ गु॒र्विषू॑चीरिन्द्र द्रु॒हो वि ना॑शय ॥ (२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
सब अपनेअपने कार्यो की सिद्धि के लिए इंद्र से ही प्रार्थना करते हैं. हम क्रम के अनुसार पूजनीय इंद्र का आह्वान करते हैं. इंद्र की कृपा से हम दो पैरों वाले सेवकों तथा चार पैरों वाले पशुओं से संपन्न बनें. हमारे मन चाहे फल में बाधा डालने वाली शत्रुसेनाएं हमारे सामने न आएं. हे इंद्र! सब स्थानों पर फैली हुई शत्रु सेनाओं का नाश करो. (२)
EN English Translation
Everyone prays to Indra for the fulfillment of their work. We invoke the revered Indra in order. By the grace of Indra, let us be endowed with two-legged servants and four-legged animals. Enemies who obstruct the fruits of our mind should not come in front of us. O Indra! Destroy the enemy armies spread all over the place. (2)
इन्द्र॑स्त्रा॒तोत वृ॑त्र॒हा प॑र॒स्फानो॒ वरे॑ण्यः । स र॑क्षि॒ता च॑रम॒तः स म॑ध्य॒तः स प॒श्चात्स पु॒रस्ता॑न्नो अस्तु ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
वृत्र असुर का अथवा जल रोकने वाले मेघ का वध करने वाले इंद्र हमारे रक्षक हों. वरण करने योग्य इंद्र शत्रुओं से हमारी रक्षा करने वाले हैं. वे ही इंद्र अंत में, मध्य में, पीछे और आगे हमारी रक्षा करने वाले हों. (३)
EN English Translation
May Indra, who kills the vritra asura or the cloud that stops the water, be our protector. The selectable Indra is going to protect us from enemies. He is the one Indra who protects us in the end, in the middle, behind and forward. (3)
उ॒रुं नो॑ लो॒कमनु॑ नेषि वि॒द्वान्त्स्वर्यज्ज्योति॒रभ॑यं स्व॒स्ति । उ॒ग्रा त॑ इन्द्र॒ स्थवि॑रस्य बा॒हू उप॑ क्षयेम शर॒णा बृ॒हन्ता॑ ॥ (४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! तुम सब कुछ जानते हो. तुम हमें इहलोक और विस्तृत स्वर्गलोक का सुख प्राप्त कराओ. स्वर्ग को व्याप्त करने वाला प्रकाश हमें भय रहित कर के सुख प्रदान करे. हे इंद्र! तुम महान हो. शत्रुओं का संहार करने में समर्थ, शत्रुओं से रक्षा करने वाली एवं विशाल आप की भुजाओं की हम शरण में जाते हैं. (४)
EN English Translation
O Indra! You know everything. May you give us the pleasure of this world and the vast paradise. May the light that pervades heaven give us happiness without fear. O Indra! You're great. We go to the shelter of your arms capable of killing enemies, protecting them from enemies and huge. (4)
अभ॑यं नः करत्य॒न्तरि॑क्ष॒मभ॑यं॒ द्यावा॑पृथि॒वी उ॒भे इ॒मे । अभ॑यं प॒श्चादभ॑यं पु॒रस्ता॑दुत्त॒राद॑ध॒रादभ॑यं नो अस्तु ॥ (५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
अंतरिक्ष अर्थात् मध्यमलोक हमें अभय प्रदान करे. ये दोनों द्यावा और पृथ्वी हमें अभय प्रदान करें. पीछे से, आगे से, ऊपर से तथा नीचे से हमें अभय प्राप्त हो. (५)
EN English Translation
May space, that is, the middle world, give us protection. May these two dyavas and the earth give us protection. We should get protection from the back, from the front, from the top and from the bottom. (5)
अभ॑यं मि॒त्रादभ॑यम॒मित्रा॒दभ॑यं ज्ञा॒तादभ॑यं पु॒रो यः । अभ॑यं॒ नक्त॒मभ॑यं दिवा नः॒ सर्वा॒ आशा॒ मम॑ मि॒त्रं भ॑वन्तु ॥ (६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हमें मित्रों से तथा शत्रुओं से अभय प्राप्त हो. हम प्रत्यक्ष और परोक्ष जनों से भयभीत न हों. दिन में और रात में हमें अभय प्राप्त हो. सभी दिशाएं मेरे लिए मित्र के समान हित करने वाली हों. (६)
EN English Translation
We should get protection from friends and enemies. Let us not be afraid of direct and indirect people. In the day and at night we get abhaya. All directions should be of equal interest to me as a friend. (6)
