प्र॑थ॒मा ह॒ व्यु॑वास॒ सा धे॒नुर॑भवद्य॒मे । सा नः॒ पय॑स्वती दुहा॒मुत्त॑रामुत्तरां॒ समा॑म् ॥ (१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
सृष्टि के आदि में उत्पन्न एकाष्टका उषा ने अंधकार दूर कर दिया था. यह हमारे पूर्वजों के लिए दूध देने वाली हुई थी. यह हमारे लिए भी दूध देने वाली हो और अभिमत फल प्रदान करे. (१)
EN English Translation
Usha, the ekatka born in the beginning of creation, had removed the darkness. It was a milk giver for our ancestors. It should also be milk-giving for us and provide opinionated fruits. (1)
यां दे॒वाः प्र॑ति॒नन्द॑न्ति॒ रात्रिं॑ धे॒नुमु॑पाय॒तीम् । सं॑वत्स॒रस्य॒ या पत्नी॒ सा नो॑ अस्तु सुमङ्ग॒ली ॥ (२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जिस एकाष्टका संबंधी रात्रि को धेनु के रूप में समीप आती हुई देख कर हवि का भोग देने वाले देवगण, उस की प्रशंसा करते हैं. वह एकाष्टका रात्रि संवत्सर की पत्नी है. वह हमारे लिए कल्याण करने वाली हो. (२)
EN English Translation
The devas, who offered havi on the night of ekashtaka, who saw the night approaching in the form of Dhenu, praise him. She is the wife of Ekashtaka Ratri Samvatsar. She is a welfare doer for us. (2)
सं॑वत्स॒रस्य॑ प्रति॒मां यां त्वा॑ रात्र्यु॒पास्म॑हे । सा न॒ आयु॑ष्मतीं प्र॒जां रा॒यस्पोषे॑ण॒ सं सृ॑ज ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे रात्रि! तुम संवत्सर की प्रतिमा हो. हम तुम्हारी उपासना करते हैं. तुम हमारे पुत्र, पौत्र आदि को लंबी आयु वाला बनाओ तथा हमें गाय आदि धन से संपन्न करो. (३)
EN English Translation
O night! You are the statue of Samvatsar. We worship you. Make our sons, grandsons etc. long-lived and enrich us with cow and wealth. (3)
इ॒यमे॒व सा या प्र॑थ॒मा व्यौच्छ॑दा॒स्वित॑रासु चरति॒ प्रवि॑ष्टा । म॒हान्तो॑ अस्यां महि॒मानो॑ अ॒न्तर्व॒धूर्जि॑गाय नव॒गज्जनि॑त्री ॥ (४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
यह आज की एकाष्टक लक्षणा वह प्रथम उत्पन्न उषा है, जिस ने सृष्टि के आरंभ में उत्पन्न हो कर अंधकार का विनाश किया था. वही उषा इन दिखाई देने वाली अन्य उषाओं में अनुगत हो कर उदित होती है. इस उषा में असीमित महिमा है. इस में सूर्य, अग्नि और सोम का निवास है. सूर्य की पत्नी, यह उषा प्राणियों को प्रकाश देती हुई सब से उत्तम रहे. (४)
EN English Translation
This is the first born Usha of today, who was born at the beginning of creation and destroyed darkness. The same Usha rises in these other visible ushas. There is unlimited glory in this usha. It is inhabited by Sun, Agni and Soma. The wife of the sun, may usha be the best of all, giving light to the creatures. (4)
वा॑नस्प॒त्या ग्रावा॑णो॒ घोष॑मक्रत ह॒विष्कृ॒ण्वन्तः॑ परिवत्स॒रीण॑म् । एका॑ष्टके सुप्र॒जसः॑ सु॒वीरा॑ व॒यं स्या॑म॒ पत॑यो रयी॒णाम् ॥ (५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे एकाष्टक वृक्षों से बने ऊखल! मूसल आदि ने तथा पत्थरों ने संवत्सर में तैयार होने वाले जौ, धान आदि कूटतेपीटते हुए शब्द किया है. तुम्हारी कृपा से हम उत्तम पुत्र, पौत्रों शक्तिशाली सेवकों तथा धनों के स्वामी बनें. (५)
EN English Translation
O o one-sided tree! Pestles etc. and stones have used words to crush barley, paddy, etc. prepared in Samvatsar. By Your grace, may we be the best sons, grandsons, powerful servants and masters of wealth. (5)
इडा॑यास्प॒दं घृ॒तव॑त्सरीसृ॒पं जात॑वेदः॒ प्रति॑ ह॒व्या गृ॑भाय । ये ग्रा॒म्याः प॒शवो॑ वि॒श्वरू॑पा॒स्तेषां॑ सप्ता॒नां मयि॒ रन्ति॑रस्तु ॥ (६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे जातवेद अग्नि! तुम हव्य ग्रहण करो. तुम्हारी कृपा से दूध, घी देने वाली गाएं, तेज दौड़ने वाले घोड़े तथा गांव में होने वाले बकरी, भेड़, गधा, ऊंट आदि नाना आकार वाले सात प्रकार के पशु मुझ से प्रेम रखें. (६)
EN English Translation
O jataved agni! You take the will. By your grace, milk, ghee-giving cows, fast running horses and seven types of animals of different sizes like goats, sheep, donkeys, camels etc. in the village should love me. (6)
आ मा॑ पु॒ष्टे च॒ पोषे॑ च॒ रात्रि॑ दे॒वानां॑ सुम॒तौ स्या॑म । पू॒र्णा द॑र्वे॒ परा॑ पत॒ सुपू॑र्णा॒ पुन॒रा प॑त । सर्वा॑न्य॒ज्ञान्त्सं॑भुञ्ज॒तीष॒मूर्जं॑ न॒ आ भ॑र ॥ (७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे रात्रि! मुझे समृद्ध धन और पुत्र, पौत्र आदि का स्वामी बनाओ. तुम्हारी कृपा से मैं देवों का भी कृपापात्र बनूं, हे दर्वी अर्थात् हवन के साधन पात्र! तू हवि से पूर्ण हो कर देवों के पास जा और वहां से हमारे मन चाहे फल ले कर हमारे समीप आ. तू हवि से सभी यज्ञों का पालन करता हुआ देवों के पास से अन्न और बल ला कर हमें प्रदान कर. (७)
EN English Translation
O night! Make me the master of rich wealth and son, grandson etc. By your grace, May I also become the benefactor of the gods, O Darvi, that is, the instrument of havan! You should be complete with havi and go to the gods and from there take the fruits of our mind and come to us. (7)
आयम॑गन्त्संवत्स॒रः पति॑रेकाष्टके॒ तव॑ । सा न॒ आयु॑ष्मतीं प्र॒जां रा॒यस्पोषे॑ण॒ सं सृ॑ज ॥ (८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे एकाष्टका! यह संवत्सर आ गया है. यह तेरा पति है. तू अपने पति संवत्सर के सहित हमारी संतान को अधिक आयु वाली करती हुई हमें धन संपन्न बना. (८)
EN English Translation
O one-sided! This Samvatsar has arrived. This is your husband. You made us rich by making our children more old along with your husband Samvatsar. (8)
ऋ॒तून्य॑ज ऋतु॒पती॑नार्त॒वानु॒त हा॑य॒नान् । समाः॑ संवत्स॒रान्मासा॑न्भू॒तस्य॒ पत॑ये यजे ॥ (९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे एकाष्टका! मैं वसंत आदि ऋतुओं को और उन के अधिष्ठाता देवों को हृदय के द्वारा प्रसन्न करता हूं. मैं ऋतु संबंधी, दिनरात संबंधी और बारह मासों से संबंधित यज्ञ करता हूं. मैं चराचर प्राणियों के स्वामी काल के निमित्त भी तेरे द्वारा यज्ञ करता हूं. (९)
EN English Translation
O one-sided! I please the spring seasons and their presiding deities with my heart. I perform yagya related to season, day and night related and twelve months. I also perform yajna through you for the sake of the master period of grazing creatures. (9)
ऋ॒तुभ्य॑ष्ट्वार्त॒वेभ्यो॑ मा॒द्भ्यः सं॑वत्स॒रेभ्यः॑ । धा॒त्रे वि॑धा॒त्रे स॒मृधे॑ भू॒तस्य॒ पत॑ये यजे ॥ (१०)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे एकाष्टका! मैं वसंत आदि ऋतुओं, ऋतु संबंधी दिनरात, बारह मासों, संवत्सर के धाता विधाता देवों और सभी चराचर प्राणियों के स्वामी काल के निमित्त तेरा यज्ञ करता हूं. (१०)
EN English Translation
O one-sided! I perform your yajna for the time of spring etc., seasonal day and night, twelve months, dhata vidhata devas of Samvatsar and swami of all grazing beings. (10)
इड॑या॒ जुह्व॑तो व॒यं दे॒वान्घृ॒तव॑ता यजे । गृ॒हानलु॑भ्यतो व॒यं सं॑ विशे॒मोप॒ गोम॑तः ॥ (११)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हम गाय के घी से युक्त हवि के द्वारा यज्ञ करते हुए देवों को प्रसन्न करते हैं. उन देवों की कृपा से हम सभी अभिलषित वस्तुओं एवं अनेक गायों से युक्त घरों को प्राप्त कर के उन में सुख से निवास करें. (११)
EN English Translation
We please the gods by performing yagna through havi containing cow's ghee. By the grace of those gods, we should get all the desired things and houses with many cows and live happily in them. (11)
ए॑काष्ट॒का तप॑सा त॒प्यमा॑ना ज॒जान॒ गर्भं॑ महि॒मान॒मिन्द्र॑म् । तेन॑ दे॒वा व्य॑षहन्त॒ शत्रू॑न्ह॒न्ता दस्यू॑नामभव॒च्छची॒पतिः॑ ॥ (१२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
सब की स्वामिनी एकाष्टका ने तपस्या के द्वारा महिमा युक्त इंद्र को जन्म दिया. इंद्र की सहायता से देवों ने शत्रुओं को पराजित किया. शची देवी के पति वह इंद्र, दस्यु जनों के विनाशक हुए. (१२)
EN English Translation
Ekashtaka, the owner of all, gave birth to indra with glory through penance. With the help of Indra, the devas defeated the enemies. Shachi Devi's husband, Indra, was the destroyer of bandits. (12)
इन्द्र॑पुत्रे॒ सोम॑पुत्रे दुहि॒तासि॑ प्र॒जाप॑तेः । कामा॑न॒स्माकं॑ पूरय॒ प्रति॑ गृह्णाहि नो ह॒विः ॥ (१३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र और सोम की माता एकाष्टका! तू प्रजापति की पुत्री है. तू हमारे द्वारा दी हुई हवि को स्वीकार करती हुई हमें सतान तथा पशुओं से संपन्न बना. (१३)
EN English Translation
O Ekashta, mother of Indra and Soma! You are Prajapati's daughter. Accepting the desire given by us, you have persecuted us and became rich in animals. (13)
