द्यावा॑ ह॒ क्षामा॑ प्रथ॒मे ऋ॒तेना॑भिश्रा॒वे भ॑वतः सत्य॒वाचा॑ । दे॒वो यन्मर्ता॑न्य॒जथा॑य कृ॒ण्वन्सीद॒द्धोता॑ प्र॒त्यङ्स्वमसुं॒ यन् ॥ (१)

सत्य बोलने वाले एवं प्रमुख द्यावा-पृथिवी सबसे पहले यज्ञ में अग्नि का आह्वान करें. अग्नि देव मानवों को यज्ञ के लिए प्रेरित करते हुए एवं देवों को बुलाने के लिए ज्वालारूपी प्राणों को धारण करके वेदी पर बैठे. (१)
EN English Translation
Those who speak the truth and the chief, Dyava-Prithvi, should first call for agni in the yajna. The agni god sat on the altar, inspiring humans to perform yajna and holding the flame-like souls to call the gods. (1)
दे॒वो दे॒वान्प॑रि॒भूरृ॒तेन॒ वहा॑ नो ह॒व्यं प्र॑थ॒मश्चि॑कि॒त्वान् । धू॒मके॑तुः स॒मिधा॒ भाऋ॑जीको म॒न्द्रो होता॒ नित्यो॑ वा॒चा यजी॑यान् ॥ (२)

दीप्तिशाली, सभी देवों में प्रमुख, सब कुछ जानने वाले, धुएं रूपी ध्वजा से युक्त, समिधा के कारण ऊंची ज्वालाओं वाले, स्तुतियोग्य, नित्य एवं वाणी द्वारा यजमानों का यज्ञ करने वाले अग्ने देवों के समीप जाते हुए यज्ञ के साथ-साथ हमारा हव्य ले जावें. (२)
EN English Translation
Let the bright, the chief of all the gods, those who know everything, have a smoke-like flag, go close to the agne devas who perform the yajna of the hosts by virtue of samidha, praiseworthy, constantly and by speech, and take our vow along with the yajna. (2)
स्वावृ॑ग्दे॒वस्या॒मृतं॒ यदी॒ गोरतो॑ जा॒तासो॑ धारयन्त उ॒र्वी । विश्वे॑ दे॒वा अनु॒ तत्ते॒ यजु॑र्गुर्दु॒हे यदेनी॑ दि॒व्यं घृ॒तं वाः ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
अग्नि देव के अपने तेज से जो जल उत्पन्न होता है, उस जल से उत्पन्न होने वाले वृक्ष द्यावा-पृथिवी को धारण करते हैं तथा सभी देव तुम्हारे दिए हुए जल की प्रशंसा करते हैं तुम्हारी उज्ज्वल दीप्ति दिव्य एवं बरसने वाले जल को दुहती है. (३)
EN English Translation
The trees that are produced from the water produced by the agni god's own glory wear the dyava-prithivi and all the gods praise the water given by you, your bright glow milks the divine and rainy water. (3)
अर्चा॑मि वां॒ वर्धा॒यापो॑ घृतस्नू॒ द्यावा॑भूमी शृणु॒तं रो॑दसी मे । अहा॒ यद्द्यावोऽसु॑नीति॒मय॒न्मध्वा॑ नो॒ अत्र॑ पि॒तरा॑ शिशीताम् ॥ (४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अग्नि! तुम मेरे यज्ञकर्म को बढ़ाओ. हे वर्षा का जल उत्पन्न करने वाले द्यावा-पृथिवी! तुम मेरी स्तुति सुनो. स्तोता जिस समय यज्ञस्तुति करते हैं, उस समय तुम वर्षा करके सबको शुद्ध करो. (४)
EN English Translation
O agni! You increase my yajnakarma. These rain-water producers are the earth-earth! You listen to my praise. At the time when the Psalms perform yajnasuti, you should purify everyone by raining. (4)
किं स्वि॑न्नो॒ राजा॑ जगृहे॒ कद॒स्याति॑ व्र॒तं च॑कृमा॒ को वि वे॑द । मि॒त्रश्चि॒द्धि ष्मा॑ जुहुरा॒णो दे॒वाञ्छ्लोको॒ न या॒तामपि॒ वाजो॒ अस्ति॑ ॥ (५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
कया दीप्तिशाली अग्नि ने हमारी स्तुतियां और हवि स्वीकार कर लिया है? कया हमने अग्नि के परिचरण का कर्म किया है? इन बातों को कौन जानता है? मित्र के समान स्नेहपूर्वक बुलाने से अग्नि आ जाते हैं. हमारी यह स्तुति एवं हव्य अन्न देवों के पास जावे. (५)
EN English Translation
Has the glorious agni accepted our praises and our glory? Have we done the work of the circulation of agni? Who knows these things? The agni comes from calling affectionately like a friend. Let this praise and our heart go to the food gods. (5)
दु॒र्मन्त्वत्रा॒मृत॑स्य॒ नाम॒ सल॑क्ष्मा॒ यद्विषु॑रूपा॒ भवा॑ति । य॒मस्य॒ यो म॒नव॑ते सु॒मन्त्वग्ने॒ तमृ॑ष्व पा॒ह्यप्र॑युच्छन् ॥ (६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
मरणरहित सूर्य का अपराधरहित एवं मधुरतायुक्त जल धरती पर नानारूप धारण करता है. यम के अपराध को सूर्य जानते हैं. हे महान् अग्नि! प्रमाद न करते हुए सूर्य की रक्षा करो. (६)
EN English Translation
The guiltless and sweet water of the deadly sun takes on the earth. The sun knows yama's guilt. O great agni! Protect the sun without praying. (6)
यस्मि॑न्दे॒वा वि॒दथे॑ मा॒दय॑न्ते वि॒वस्व॑तः॒ सद॑ने धा॒रय॑न्ते । सूर्ये॒ ज्योति॒रद॑धुर्मा॒स्य१॒॑क्तून्परि॑ द्योत॒निं च॑रतो॒ अज॑स्रा ॥ (७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
अग्नि के यज्ञ में उपस्थित रहने पर देव प्रसन्न होते हैं एवं सूर्य के यज्ञवेदीरूप स्थान में अपने आपको स्थापित करते हैं. देवों ने सूर्य में तेज तथा चंद्रमा में रातों को स्थापित किया. नष्ट न होने वाले सूर्य और चंद्र प्रकाश पाते हैं. (७)
EN English Translation
When the agni is present in the yajna, the gods are pleased and establish themselves in the place of the yajna-vediform of the sun. The gods set the sun bright in the sun and nights in the moon. The sun and the moon find the undamaged sun and moon light. (7)
यस्मि॑न्दे॒वा मन्म॑नि सं॒चर॑न्त्यपी॒च्ये॒३॒॑ न व॒यम॑स्य विद्म । मि॒त्रो नो॒ अत्रादि॑ति॒रना॑गान्सवि॒ता दे॒वो वरु॑णाय वोचत् ॥ (८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
ज्ञानरूपी अग्नि के यज्ञ में उपस्थित रहने पर देवगण अपने-अपने अधिकार में लग जाते हैं. हम अग्नि के छिपे हुए रूप को नहीं जानते. इस यज्ञ में मित्र, अदिति एवं सूर्य पापनाशक अग्नि के सामने हमको पापरहित बतावें. (८)
EN English Translation
When present in the yagna of the agni of knowledge, the devas get into their own right. We don't know the hidden form of agni. In this yajna, friends, Aditi and Surya should tell us without sin in front of the sinless agni. (8)
श्रु॒धी नो॑ अग्ने॒ सद॑ने स॒धस्थे॑ यु॒क्ष्वा रथ॑म॒मृत॑स्य द्रवि॒त्नुम् । आ नो॑ वह॒ रोद॑सी दे॒वपु॑त्रे॒ माकि॑र्दे॒वाना॒मप॑ भूरि॒ह स्याः॑ ॥ (९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अग्नि! तुम यज्ञशाला में सब देवों के साथ रहकर हमारी स्तुतियां सुनो, अमृत बरसाने वाले अपने रथ में घोड़े जोड़ो व देवों के माता-पिता द्यावा-पृथिवी को हमारे पास लाओ. तुम देवों को छोड़कर मत जाओ और यहीं रहो. (९)
EN English Translation
O agni! You stay with all the gods in the yajnashala and listen to our praises, add horses to your chariot showering nectar and bring the parents of the gods, Dyava-Prithvi, to us. Don't leave the gods and stay here. (9)
