ऋ॒तं दे॒वाय॑ कृण्व॒ते स॑वि॒त्र इन्द्रा॑याहि॒घ्ने न र॑मन्त॒ आपः॑ । अह॑रहर्यात्य॒क्तुर॒पां किया॒त्या प्र॑थ॒मः सर्ग॑ आसाम् ॥ (१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
वर्षा करने वाले, गतिमान, सबको प्रेरणा देने वाले एवं वृत्रनाशकर्ता इंद्र के यज्ञ के लिए पानी कभी नहीं रुकता. जल का प्रवाह प्रतिदिन उसी प्रकार बहता है, जिस प्रकार वह अपनी पहली सृष्टि में हुआ था. (१)
EN English Translation
Water never stops for the yagna of Indra, the rain-doer, the dynamic, the one who inspires all and the destroyer of the vrithranasha. The flow of water flows every day in the same way as it did in its first creation. (1)
यो वृ॒त्राय॒ सिन॒मत्राभ॑रिष्य॒त्प्र तं जनि॑त्री वि॒दुष॑ उवाच । प॒थो रद॑न्ती॒रनु॒ जोष॑मस्मै दि॒वेदि॑वे॒ धुन॑यो य॒न्त्यर्थ॑म् ॥ (२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जिस व्यक्ति ने इस पाकशाला में वृत्र असुर को अन्न दिया था, माता अदिति ने उसके विषय में इंद्र को बता दिया. इंद्र की इच्छा के अनुसार नदियां अपना रास्ता बनाती हुई प्रतिदिन समुद्र के पास जाती हैं. (२)
EN English Translation
The person who had given food to the Vrithra Asura in this kitchen, Mother Aditi told Indra about it. According to Indra's wish, the rivers make their way and go to the sea every day. (2)
ऊ॒र्ध्वो ह्यस्था॒दध्य॒न्तरि॒क्षेऽधा॑ वृ॒त्राय॒ प्र व॒धं ज॑भार । मिहं॒ वसा॑न॒ उप॒ हीमदु॑द्रोत्ति॒ग्मायु॑धो अजय॒च्छत्रु॒मिन्द्रः॑ ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
इस वृत्र ने आकाश में ऊपर उठकर सब पदार्थो को ढक लिया था, इसलिए इंद्र ने उसके ऊपर वज्र फेंका. मेघ से ढका हुआ वृत्र इंद्र की ओर दौड़ा तभी तीखे आयुध वाले इंद्र ने उसे हरा दिया. (३)
EN English Translation
This vritra had risen up in the sky and covered all the matter, so Indra threw a thunderbolt at him. The cloud-covered Vritra ran towards Indra when he was defeated by Indra, who had a sharp ordnance. (3)
बृह॑स्पते॒ तपु॒षाश्ने॑व विध्य॒ वृक॑द्वरसो॒ असु॑रस्य वी॒रान् । यथा॑ ज॒घन्थ॑ धृष॒ता पु॒रा चि॑दे॒वा ज॑हि॒ शत्रु॑म॒स्माक॑मिन्द्र ॥ (४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे बृहस्पति! वज्र के समान संतापकारी एवं अस्त्र के द्वारा बंद करने वाले असुर के पुत्रों का नाश करो. हे इंद्र! तुमने प्राचीनकाल में हमारे शत्रुओं को जिस प्रकार नष्ट किया था, उसी प्रकार इस समय शत्रुओं का नाश करो. (४)
EN English Translation
O Jupiter! Destroy the sons of the asuras who are as angry as thunderbolts and who lock them with weapons. O Indra! Just as you destroyed our enemies in ancient times, so destroy your enemies at this time. (4)
अव॑ क्षिप दि॒वो अश्मा॑नमु॒च्चा येन॒ शत्रुं॑ मन्दसा॒नो नि॒जूर्वाः॑ । तो॒कस्य॑ सा॒तौ तन॑यस्य॒ भूरे॑र॒स्माँ अ॒र्धं कृ॑णुतादिन्द्र॒ गोना॑म् ॥ (५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे ऊपर निवास करने वाले इंद्र! तुमने स्तोताओं की स्तुतियां सुनकर आकाश से भी पाषाण तुल्य कठिन वज्र फेंककर शत्रु को नष्ट किया था, उसी वज्र को नीचे की ओर फेंको. हमें ऐसी समृद्धि दो, जिससे हम अधिक मात्रा में पुत्र-पौत्र तथा गाएं प्राप्त कर सकें. (५)
EN English Translation
O Indra who dwells above! You heard the praises of the Psalms and destroyed the enemy by throwing a hard thunderbolt like a stone from the sky, throwing the same thunderbolt down. Give us such prosperity, so that we can get more sons and grandsons and cows. (5)
प्र हि क्रतुं॑ वृ॒हथो॒ यं व॑नु॒थो र॒ध्रस्य॑ स्थो॒ यज॑मानस्य चो॒दौ । इन्द्रा॑सोमा यु॒वम॒स्माँ अ॑विष्टम॒स्मिन्भ॒यस्थे॑ कृणुतमु लो॒कम् ॥ (६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र व सोम! तुम जिस बैरी की हिंसा करो, उसका भली-भांति उच्छेद कर दो तथा सेवक यजमानों के शत्रुओं के प्रेरक बनो. तुम दोनों हमारी रक्षा करो एवं इस भयानक युद्ध में हमारे स्थान को निर्भर बनाओ. (६)
EN English Translation
O Indra and Som! "Dismiss the enemy you do with violence, and be the instigator of the enemies of the servant hosts. You both protect us and make our place dependent in this terrible war. (6)
न मा॑ तम॒न्न श्र॑म॒न्नोत त॑न्द्र॒न्न वो॑चाम॒ मा सु॑नो॒तेति॒ सोम॑म् । यो मे॑ पृ॒णाद्यो दद॒द्यो नि॒बोधा॒द्यो मा॑ सु॒न्वन्त॒मुप॒ गोभि॒राय॑त् ॥ (७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
इंद्र मुझे न कष्ट दें, न थकावें, न आलसी बनावें और न हमसे यह कहें कि सोमाभिषव मत करो. वे मेरी इच्छाओं को पूर्ण करते हुए, दान करते हुए, हमारे यज्ञ को जानते हुए एवं गायों को साथ लेते हुए सोमरस निचोड़ने वाले के पास जावें. (७)
EN English Translation
Indra should not trouble me, nor be tired, nor let alone, nor tell us not to do somabhishava. Let them go to the somras squeezer, fulfilling my wishes, donating, knowing our yajna, and taking the cows along. (7)
सर॑स्वति॒ त्वम॒स्माँ अ॑विड्ढि म॒रुत्व॑ती धृष॒ती जे॑षि॒ शत्रू॑न् । त्यं चि॒च्छर्ध॑न्तं तविषी॒यमा॑ण॒मिन्द्रो॑ हन्ति वृष॒भं शण्डि॑कानाम् ॥ (८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे सरस्वती! तुम हमें बचाओ एवं मरुदगणों से युक्त होकर शत्रुओं को दबाती हुई पराजित करो. इंद्र ने षंडों के प्रधान षंडामर्क को मार डाला. वे स्वयं को शूर समझते थे एवं इंद्र से स्पर्धा करने लगे थे. (८)
EN English Translation
O Saraswati! You save us and defeat us by being equipped with the dead and suppressing the enemies. Indra killed the king of the sandas. They considered themselves to be brave and began to compete with Indra. (8)
यो नः॒ सनु॑त्य उ॒त वा॑ जिघ॒त्नुर॑भि॒ख्याय॒ तं ति॑गि॒तेन॑ विध्य । बृह॑स्पत॒ आयु॑धैर्जेषि॒ शत्रू॑न्द्रु॒हे रीष॑न्तं॒ परि॑ धेहि राजन् ॥ (९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे बृहस्पति! जो चोर छिपकर हमारी हत्या करना चाहता है, उसे खोजकर तीखे आयुधों से छिन्नभिन्न करो तथा अपने आयुधों से हमारे शत्रुओं को जीतो. हे राजन! द्रोहकारियों के ऊपर हिंसक वज्र चारों ओर से फेंको. (९)
EN English Translation
O Jupiter! "The thief who wants to kill us in secret, find him and break him away from the sharp armaments and conquer our enemies with your weapons." O Rajan! Throw the violent thunderbolt from all around on the miscreants. (9)
अ॒स्माके॑भिः॒ सत्व॑भिः शूर॒ शूरै॑र्वी॒र्या॑ कृधि॒ यानि॑ ते॒ कर्त्वा॑नि । ज्योग॑भूव॒न्ननु॑धूपितासो ह॒त्वी तेषा॒मा भ॑रा नो॒ वसू॑नि ॥ (१०)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे शूर इंद्र! हमारे शत्रुनाशक वीर पुरुषों के साथ मिलकर अपने कर्त्तव्य कार्यो को पूरा करो. तुम बहुत दिनों से घमंडी बने हुए हमारे शत्रुओं को नष्ट करके उनका धन हमें दो. (१०)
EN English Translation
O Shur Indra! Perform your duties together with our hostile brave men. You have been arrogant for many days and destroy our enemies and give us their wealth. (10)
तं वः॒ शर्धं॒ मारु॑तं सुम्न॒युर्गि॒रोप॑ ब्रुवे॒ नम॑सा॒ दैव्यं॒ जन॑म् । यथा॑ र॒यिं सर्व॑वीरं॒ नशा॑महा अपत्य॒साचं॒ श्रुत्यं॑ दि॒वेदि॑वे ॥ (११)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे मरुद्गण! हम सुख की इच्छा से नमस्कार द्वारा तुम्हारी दिव्य, उत्पन्न तथा सम्मिलित शक्ति की प्रशंसा करते हैं. हम उससे वीर संतान पाकर प्रतिदिन उत्तम धन का उपभोग कर सकें. (११)
EN English Translation
O deserters! We admire your divine, generated and inclusive power by greeting the desire for happiness. We can get a heroic child from him and consume the best money every day. (11)
