उदु॒ ष्य दे॒वः स॑वि॒ता स॒वाय॑ शश्वत्त॒मं तद॑पा॒ वह्नि॑रस्थात् । नू॒नं दे॒वेभ्यो॒ वि हि धाति॒ रत्न॒मथाभ॑जद्वी॒तिहो॑त्रं स्व॒स्तौ ॥ (१)

प्रकाशयुक्त एवं विश्व को धारण करने वाले सविता अपना प्रसवरूप कर्म करने के लिए उदय होते हैं. वे देवों को रत्न देते हैं एवं सुंदर यज्ञ करने वाले यजमान को कल्याण का भागी बनाते हैं. (१)
EN English Translation
A lighted and possessing world, Savita rises to perform her natal work. They give gems to the gods and make the host who performs beautiful yajna a partaker of welfare. (1)
विश्व॑स्य॒ हि श्रु॒ष्टये॑ दे॒व ऊ॒र्ध्वः प्र बा॒हवा॑ पृ॒थुपा॑णिः॒ सिस॑र्ति । आप॑श्चिदस्य व्र॒त आ निमृ॑ग्रा अ॒यं चि॒द्वातो॑ रमते॒ परि॑ज्मन् ॥ (२)

लंबी भुजाओं वाले सविता देव संसार के सुख के हेतु उदित होकर हाथ फैलाते हैं. परम पवित्र जल इन्हीं के काम के हेतु बहता है एवं वायु सब जगह फैले हुए आकाश में घूमता है. (२)
EN English Translation
Savita Dev with long arms rises for the happiness of the world and spreads his hands. The most holy water flows for their work and the air moves around in the sky spread all over the place. (2)
आ॒शुभि॑श्चि॒द्यान्वि मु॑चाति नू॒नमरी॑रम॒दत॑मानं चि॒देतोः॑ । अ॒ह्यर्षू॑णां चि॒न्न्य॑याँ अवि॒ष्यामनु॑ व्र॒तं स॑वि॒तुर्मोक्यागा॑त् ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जाते हुए सविता शीघ्रगामी किरणों द्वारा त्याग दिए जाते हैं. उस समय वे सविता सदा चलने वाले यात्री को रोक देते हैं एवं शत्रुओं के विरुद्ध गमन करने वाले लोगों की इच्छा का नियंत्रण करते हैं. सविता का कार्य समाप्त होने पर रात आती है. (३)
EN English Translation
On the way, Savita is abandoned by the early rays. At that time, they stop savita's ever-moving traveler and control the will of the people who travel against the enemies. The night comes when Savita's work is over. (3)
पुनः॒ सम॑व्य॒द्वित॑तं॒ वय॑न्ती म॒ध्या कर्तो॒र्न्य॑धा॒च्छक्म॒ धीरः॑ । उत्सं॒हाया॑स्था॒द्व्यृ१॒॑तूँर॑दर्धर॒रम॑तिः सवि॒ता दे॒व आगा॑त् ॥ (४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
कड़े बुनने वाली नारी जिस प्रकार कपड़ा लपेटती है, उसी प्रकार रात बिखरे हुए प्रकाश को समेट लेती है. कार्य करने में समर्थ एवं बुद्धिमान् लोग अपना काम बीच में ही रोक देते हैं. विरामरहित एवं समय का विभाग करने वाले सविता देव के उदित होने पर लोग शय्या छोड़ते हैं. (४)
EN English Translation
Just as a hard-knit woman wraps a cloth, the night absorbs scattered light. People who are capable of working and wise stop their work in the middle. People drop the bed when Savita Dev, who is restless and does the department of time, rises. (4)
नानौकां॑सि॒ दुर्यो॒ विश्व॒मायु॒र्वि ति॑ष्ठते प्रभ॒वः शोको॑ अ॒ग्नेः । ज्येष्ठं॑ मा॒ता सू॒नवे॑ भा॒गमाधा॒दन्व॑स्य॒ केत॑मिषि॒तं स॑वि॒त्रा ॥ (५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
अग्निगृह अर्थात् यज्ञशाला में उत्पन्न महान् तेज यजमानों के अलग-अलग घरों तथा संपूर्ण अन्न में समा जाता है. उषा माता ने सविता द्वारा प्रेषित यज्ञ का भाग अपने पुत्र अग्नि को दिया है. वह भाग उत्तम एवं अग्नि को बढ़ाने वाला है. (५)
EN English Translation
The great brightness produced in the agni house, i.e., the yajnashala, is absorbed into the individual houses and the whole grain of the hosts. Usha Mata has given part of the yajna sent by Savita to her son Agni. That part is good and agni-enhancing. (5)
स॒माव॑वर्ति॒ विष्ठि॑तो जिगी॒षुर्विश्वे॑षां॒ काम॒श्चर॑ताम॒माभू॑त् । शश्वा॒ँ अपो॒ विकृ॑तं हि॒त्व्यागा॒दनु॑ व्र॒तं स॑वि॒तुर्दैव्य॑स्य ॥ (६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
आकाश में स्थित सविता का व्रत समाप्त होने अर्थात् सूर्य छिप जाने पर जय का इच्छुक योद्धा प्रस्थान करके भी लौट आता है, सभी चर प्राणी घर की अभिलाषा करने लगते हैं एवं कार्य में नित्य लगा हुआ व्यक्ति भी काम अधूरा छोड़कर घर जाता है. (६)
EN English Translation
When the fast of Savita in the sky is over, i.e., when the sun is hidden, the warrior who wants to jai also returns after departing, all the char beings start wishing for the house and the person who is constantly engaged in the work also goes home leaving the work incomplete. (6)
त्वया॑ हि॒तमप्य॑म॒प्सु भा॒गं धन्वान्वा मृ॑ग॒यसो॒ वि त॑स्थुः । वना॑नि॒ विभ्यो॒ नकि॑रस्य॒ तानि॑ व्र॒ता दे॒वस्य॑ सवि॒तुर्मि॑नन्ति ॥ (७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे सविता! तुम्हारे द्वारा अंतरिक्ष में छिपाया हुआ जो जलभाग है, उसी को जलरहित प्रदेशों में खोज करने वाले पाते हैं. तुमने पक्षियों को वनवृक्ष निवास के लिए दिए हैं. सविता देव के इन कार्यों को कोई नष्ट नहीं करता. (७)
EN English Translation
O Savita! The waterpart that you have hidden in space is the same as those who seek in the waterless regions. You have given the birds for the forest tree habitat. No one destroys these actions of Savita Dev. (7)
या॒द्रा॒ध्यं१॒॑ वरु॑णो॒ योनि॒मप्य॒मनि॑शितं नि॒मिषि॒ जर्भु॑राणः । विश्वो॑ मार्ता॒ण्डो व्र॒जमा प॒शुर्गा॑त्स्थ॒शो जन्मा॑नि सवि॒ता व्याकः॑ ॥ (८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
सूर्य छिपने पर अत्यंत गमनशील वरुण सारे गतिशील प्राणियों को मनचाहा, सुखदायक एवं प्राप्त करने योग्य निवास देते हैं. जिस समय सविता सभी प्राणियों को अलग कर देते हैं, उस समय सभी पक्षी एवं पशु अपने-अपने स्थान को चले जाते हैं. (८)
EN English Translation
When the sun is hidden, the most moving Varuna gives all the moving beings the desired, soothing and attainable habitat. At the time when Savita separates all the beings, all the birds and animals go to their places. (8)
न यस्येन्द्रो॒ वरु॑णो॒ न मि॒त्रो व्र॒तम॑र्य॒मा न मि॒नन्ति॑ रु॒द्रः । नारा॑तय॒स्तमि॒दं स्व॒स्ति हु॒वे दे॒वं स॑वि॒तारं॒ नमो॑भिः ॥ (९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
इंद्र, वरुण, मित्र, अर्यमा, रुद्र एवं शत्रु असुर जिसके कर्म को समाप्त नहीं करते, उन्हीं सविता देव को हम अपने कल्याण के लिए नमस्कारों द्वारा बुलाते हैं. (९)
EN English Translation
Indra, Varuna, Mitra, Aryama, Rudra and the enemy asuras, whose karma does not end, we call the same Savita Dev by greetings for our welfare. (9)
भगं॒ धियं॑ वा॒जय॑न्तः॒ पुरं॑धिं॒ नरा॒शंसो॒ ग्नास्पति॑र्नो अव्याः । आ॒ये वा॒मस्य॑ संग॒थे र॑यी॒णां प्रि॒या दे॒वस्य॑ सवि॒तुः स्या॑म ॥ (१०)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
मनुष्यों द्वारा स्तुत्य एवं देवपत्नियों के रक्षक सविता हमारी रक्षा करें. हम भजनीय, ध्यान करने योग्य एवं परम बुद्धिमान् सविता को अधिक बलवान् बनाते हैं. हम धन एवं पशुओं के पाने और एकत्र करने के लिए सविता के प्रिय बनें. (१०)
EN English Translation
May Savita, the protector of the gods and sisters, be protected by humans. We make the hymnic, meditative and supremely intelligent Savita more strong. Let us be savita's beloved for getting and collecting wealth and animals. (10)
अ॒स्मभ्यं॒ तद्दि॒वो अ॒द्भ्यः पृ॑थि॒व्यास्त्वया॑ द॒त्तं काम्यं॒ राध॒ आ गा॑त् । शं यत्स्तो॒तृभ्य॑ आ॒पये॒ भवा॑त्युरु॒शंसा॑य सवितर्जरि॒त्रे ॥ (११)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे सविता! तुम्हारे द्वारा हमें दिया हुआ प्रसिद्ध धन स्वर्ग, आकाश और भूलोक से आवें. जो धन स्तोताओं की संतान को सुख देने वाला है, वही मुझ बहुत स्तुति करने वाले को प्रदान करो. (११)
EN English Translation
O Savita! May the famous wealth you have given us come from heaven, from heaven and from the sky and from the forgotten. The wealth that will bring happiness to the children of the Psalms, give the same to the one who praises me very much. (11)
