हु॒वे वः॑ सु॒द्योत्मा॑नं सुवृ॒क्तिं वि॒शाम॒ग्निमति॑थिं सुप्र॒यस॑म् । मि॒त्र इ॑व॒ यो दि॑धि॒षाय्यो॒ भूद्दे॒व आदे॑वे॒ जने॑ जा॒तवे॑दाः ॥ (१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे यजमानो! मैं तुम्हारे कल्याण के निमित्त अत्यंत तेजस्वी, पापरहित, यजमानों के अतिथि एवं शोभन हवि वाले अग्नि को बुलाता हूं. जातवेद अग्नि मनुष्यों से लेकर देवों तक सब प्राणियों को मित्र के समान धारण करते हैं. (१)
EN English Translation
O hosts! I call for your welfare the most glorious, sinless, guest of hosts and the gracious agni. The Jatveda agni treats all beings from human beings to gods as friends. (1)
इ॒मं वि॒धन्तो॑ अ॒पां स॒धस्थे॑ द्वि॒ताद॑धु॒र्भृग॑वो वि॒क्ष्वा॒३॒॑योः । ए॒ष विश्वा॑न्य॒भ्य॑स्तु॒ भूमा॑ दे॒वाना॑म॒ग्निर॑र॒तिर्जी॒राश्वः॑ ॥ (२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
अग्नि की सेवा करने वाले भृगुओं ने अग्नि को जल के निवासस्थान अंतरिक्ष में एवं मानवों की संतान के बीच धारण किया. शीघ्रगामी अश्वं वाले एवं देवों के ईश्वर अग्नि हमारे सभी शत्रुओं को हरावें. (२)
EN English Translation
The bhrigus who served the agni held the agni in space, the habitat of water, and among the offspring of human beings. May agni, the God of the early horses and gods, defeat all our enemies. (2)
अ॒ग्निं दे॒वासो॒ मानु॑षीषु वि॒क्षु प्रि॒यं धुः॑ क्षे॒ष्यन्तो॒ न मि॒त्रम् । स दी॑दयदुश॒तीरूर्म्या॒ आ द॒क्षाय्यो॒ यो दास्व॑ते॒ दम॒ आ ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
देवों ने स्वर्ग को जाते समय अपने प्रिय अग्नि को मनुष्यों के बीच मित्र के रूप में स्थित किया था. वे अग्नि हव्यदाता यजमान के घर में देवों द्वारा स्थापित होकर उसके कल्याण के लिए अपनी प्रिय रातों में प्रकाशयुक्त होते रहते हैं. (३)
EN English Translation
The gods, on their way to heaven, had located their beloved agni as a friend among humans. They are installed by the gods in the house of the agni-giver host and keep on lighting up in their beloved nights for his welfare. (3)
अ॒स्य र॒ण्वा स्वस्ये॑व पु॒ष्टिः संदृ॑ष्टिरस्य हिया॒नस्य॒ दक्षोः॑ । वि यो भरि॑भ्र॒दोष॑धीषु जि॒ह्वामत्यो॒ न रथ्यो॑ दोधवीति॒ वारा॑न् ॥ (४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
अपने शरीर को पुष्ट करने के समान अग्नि के शरीर का पोषण एवं लकड़ियों को जलाने के इच्छुक अग्नि का प्रकट होना भी बहुत सुंदर जान पड़ता है. रथ में जुता हुआ घोड़ा मक्खियां उड़ाने के लिए जिस प्रकार बार-बार पूंछ हिलाता है, उसी प्रकार अग्नि अपनी लपटों रूपी जीभ को फेरते हैं. (४)
EN English Translation
Like strengthening your body, the nourishment of the body of agni and the appearance of agni willing to burn wood also look very beautiful. Just as a horse ploughed in the chariot moves the tail repeatedly to fly flies, the agnis turn their tongues like flames. (4)
आ यन्मे॒ अभ्वं॑ व॒नदः॒ पन॑न्तो॒शिग्भ्यो॒ नामि॑मीत॒ वर्ण॑म् । स चि॒त्रेण॑ चिकिते॒ रंसु॑ भा॒सा जु॑जु॒र्वाँ यो मुहु॒रा युवा॒ भूत् ॥ (५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
मेरे स्तोता अग्नि के महत्त्व की स्तुति करते हैं. वे मेरे रूप की कामना करने वाले ऋत्विजों को अपना रंग दिखाते हैं. वे रमणीय हव्य के निमित्त विचित्र दीप्ति से पहचाने जाते हैं एवं बूढ़े होकर भी बार-बार जवान बन जाते हैं. (५)
EN English Translation
My hymns praise the importance of agni. They show their color to the ritwijs who wish for my look. They are identified with the strange glow for the sake of delightful ness and become young again and again even when they are old. (5)
आ यो वना॑ तातृषा॒णो न भाति॒ वार्ण प॒था रथ्ये॑व स्वानीत् । कृ॒ष्णाध्वा॒ तपू॑ र॒ण्वश्चि॑केत॒ द्यौरि॑व॒ स्मय॑मानो॒ नभो॑भिः ॥ (६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
अग्नि प्यासे के समान वृक्षों को जलाते हैं, जल के समान इधर-उधर जाते हैं तथा घोड़े के समान शब्द करते हैं. अग्नि का मार्ग काला है और वे ताप देने वाले हैं. फिर भी वे तारों भरे आकाश के समान शोभा पाते हैं. (६)
EN English Translation
Fire burns trees like thirsty, moves around like water and says words like horses. The path of agni is black and they are heat-giving. Yet they are as beautiful as the starry sky. (6)
स यो व्यस्था॑द॒भि दक्ष॑दु॒र्वीं प॒शुर्नैति॑ स्व॒युरगो॑पाः । अ॒ग्निः शो॒चिष्मा॑ँ अत॒सान्यु॒ष्णन्कृ॒ष्णव्य॑थिरस्वदय॒न्न भूम॑ ॥ (७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जो अग्नि अनेक प्रकार से धरती पर स्थित हैं, विस्तृत धरती के सामने बढ़ते हैं एवं बिना रखवाले वाले पशु की तरह अपनी इच्छा से इधर-उधर जाते हैं, वे तेजस्वी अग्नि गीले वृक्षों को जलाते हुए, कांटों को भस्म करते हुए सब वस्तुओं का भली प्रकार से स्वाद लेते हैं. (७)
EN English Translation
The agnis which are located on the earth in many ways, grow in front of the vast earth and move around at will like an animal without keepers, they taste all the things well, burning the bright agni wet trees, devouring the thorns. (7)
नू ते॒ पूर्व॒स्याव॑सो॒ अधी॑तौ तृ॒तीये॑ वि॒दथे॒ मन्म॑ शंसि । अ॒स्मे अ॑ग्ने सं॒यद्वी॑रं बृ॒हन्तं॑ क्षु॒मन्तं॒ वाजं॑ स्वप॒त्यं र॒यिं दाः॑ ॥ (८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अग्नि! तुमने पहले सवन में हमारी जो रक्षा की थी, उसे स्मरण करके हम तीसरे सवन में मनोहर स्तुतियां बोल रहे हैं. हे अग्नि! तुम हमें महान् वीरों, विशाल कीर्ति एवं सुंदर संतान से युक्त धन दो. (८)
EN English Translation
O agni! By remembering what you protected us in the first suan, we are speaking beautiful praises in the third suvan. O agni! You give us wealth with great heroes, great fame and beautiful children. (8)
त्वया॒ यथा॑ गृत्सम॒दासो॑ अग्ने॒ गुहा॑ व॒न्वन्त॒ उप॑राँ अ॒भि ष्युः । सु॒वीरा॑सो अभिमाति॒षाहः॒ स्मत्सू॒रिभ्यो॑ गृण॒ते तद्वयो॑ धाः ॥ (९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अग्नि! गृत्समद के वंश में उत्पन्न ऋषि तुम्हारे द्वारा सुरक्षित होकर जिस तरह गुहा में छिपे धनों पर अधिकार कर सके एवं उत्तम संतान पाकर शत्रुओं का सामना कर सके, उसी तरह कृपा करो. तुम बुद्धिमान् एवं स्तुतिकर्तता यजमानों को बहुत धन प्रदान करो. (९)
EN English Translation
O agni! Please be kind as the sage born in the seed of Gritsamad can be protected by you and can take possession of the riches hidden in the cavity and face the enemies by having the best children. You give a lot of money to the wise and praiseworthy hosts. (9)
