त्वं म॒हाँ इ॑न्द्र॒ तुभ्यं॑ ह॒ क्षा अनु॑ क्ष॒त्रं मं॒हना॑ मन्यत॒ द्यौः । त्वं वृ॒त्रं शव॑सा जघ॒न्वान्सृ॒जः सिन्धू॒ँरहि॑ना जग्रसा॒नान् ॥ (१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे महान् इंद्र! विस्तृत धरती और आकाश ने तुम्हारे बल को स्वीकार किया था. तुमने अपने बल से वृत्र को मारा एवं उसके द्वारा ग्रसित नदियों को स्वतंत्र किया. (१)
EN English Translation
O great Indra! The vast earth and the sky accepted your strength. You struck the vritra with your own force and liberated the rivers affected by it. (1)
तव॑ त्वि॒षो जनि॑मन्रेजत॒ द्यौ रेज॒द्भूमि॑र्भि॒यसा॒ स्वस्य॑ म॒न्योः । ऋ॒घा॒यन्त॑ सु॒भ्व१॒ः॑ पर्व॑तास॒ आर्द॒न्धन्वा॑नि स॒रय॑न्त॒ आपः॑ ॥ (२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे दीप्तिशाली इंद्र! तुम्हारे जन्म के समय भय से धरती-आकाश कांप उठे थे, महान् मेघों ने तुम्हारे अधीन होकर प्राणियों की प्यास मिटाई थी एवं जलहीन मरुप्रदेशों में जल बहाया था. (२)
EN English Translation
O glorious Indra! At the time of your birth, the earth and the sky trembled with fear, the great clouds under you had quenched the thirst of the creatures and poured water into the waterless deserts. (2)
भि॒नद्गि॒रिं शव॑सा॒ वज्र॑मि॒ष्णन्ना॑विष्कृण्वा॒नः स॑हसा॒न ओजः॑ । वधी॑द्वृ॒त्रं वज्रे॑ण मन्दसा॒नः सर॒न्नापो॒ जव॑सा ह॒तवृ॑ष्णीः ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
शत्रुओं को हराने वाले इंद्र ने अपना तेज प्रकाशित करते हुए वज्र चलाकर शक्ति द्वारा पर्वतों का भेदन किया. इंद्र ने सोमपान से प्रसन्न होकर वज्र द्वारा वृत्र राक्षस का वध किया वृत्र के वध के बाद जल वेग से बहने लगा. (३)
EN English Translation
Indra, who defeated the enemies, illuminated his speed and pierced the mountains with power by wielding a thunderbolt. Indra, pleased with The Sompan, killed the demon Vritra by vajra. After the killing of Vrithra, the water started flowing at a fast pace. (3)
सु॒वीर॑स्ते जनि॒ता म॑न्यत॒ द्यौरिन्द्र॑स्य क॒र्ता स्वप॑स्तमो भूत् । य ईं॑ ज॒जान॑ स्व॒र्यं॑ सु॒वज्र॒मन॑पच्युतं॒ सद॑सो॒ न भूम॑ ॥ (४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे स्तुति योग्य, उत्तम वज्र से युक्त, स्वर्ग से च्युत न होने वाले एवं महत्त्वशाली इंद्र! तुम्हें जन्म देने वाले प्रजापति ने स्वयं उत्तम पुत्र वाला माना. इंद्र को जन्म देने वाले प्रजापति का यह कर्म अत्यंत उत्तम हुआ. (४)
EN English Translation
O praiseworthy, blessed with the best thunderbolt, the unsung and important Indra! Prajapati, who gave birth to you, considered himself to be the best son. This karma of Prajapati, who gave birth to Indra, was very good. (4)
य एक॑ इच्च्या॒वय॑ति॒ प्र भूमा॒ राजा॑ कृष्टी॒नां पु॑रुहू॒त इन्द्रः॑ । स॒त्यमे॑न॒मनु॒ विश्वे॑ मदन्ति रा॒तिं दे॒वस्य॑ गृण॒तो म॒घोनः॑ ॥ (५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
समस्त प्रजाओं के राजा, अनेक लोगों द्वारा बुलाए गए एवं देवों में प्रमुख इंद्र शत्रुओं का भय नष्ट करते हैं. सभी यजमान धन के स्वामी एवं स्तुति करने वाले बंधु सहसा इंद्रदेव को लक्ष्य करके स्तुति करते हैं. (५)
EN English Translation
The king of all the people, called by many and the chief among the gods, destroys the fear of Indra's enemies. All hosts, the lord of wealth and the brothers who praise him, usually target Indradeva and praise him. (5)
स॒त्रा सोमा॑ अभवन्नस्य॒ विश्वे॑ स॒त्रा मदा॑सो बृह॒तो मदि॑ष्ठाः । स॒त्राभ॑वो॒ वसु॑पति॒र्वसू॑नां॒ दत्रे॒ विश्वा॑ अधिथा इन्द्र कृ॒ष्टीः ॥ (६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
यह सत्य है कि सभी सोम इंद्र के हैं. यह भी सत्य है कि नशा करने वाले सोम महान् इंद्र को बहुत प्रसन्न करते हैं. यह भी सत्य है कि इंद्र न केवल धन के अपितु पशु आदि समस्त संपत्तियों के स्वामी हैं. हे इंद्र! तुम धन के लिए समस्त प्रजाओं को धारण करते हो. (६)
EN English Translation
It is true that all the mons belong to Indra. It is also true that the intoxicating Som great pleases Indra very much. It is also true that Indra is the owner of not only wealth but also of all the properties of animals etc. O Indra! You hold all the people for money. (6)
त्वमध॑ प्रथ॒मं जाय॑मा॒नोऽमे॒ विश्वा॑ अधिथा इन्द्र कृ॒ष्टीः । त्वं प्रति॑ प्र॒वत॑ आ॒शया॑न॒महिं॒ वज्रे॑ण मघव॒न्वि वृ॑श्चः ॥ (७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! तुमने पूर्वकाल में उत्पन्न होकर वृत्र के भय से सभी प्रजाओं की रक्षा की थी. तुमने स्थलों को जलपूर्ण करने के उद्देश्य से जलनिरोधक वृत्र को वज्र से काट दिया था. (७)
EN English Translation
O Indra! You originated in the past and protected all the people from the fear of Vritra. You cut off the anti-water vritra with a thunderbolt with the aim of watering the sites. (7)
स॒त्रा॒हणं॒ दाधृ॑षिं॒ तुम्र॒मिन्द्रं॑ म॒हाम॑पा॒रं वृ॑ष॒भं सु॒वज्र॑म् । हन्ता॒ यो वृ॒त्रं सनि॑तो॒त वाजं॒ दाता॑ म॒घानि॑ म॒घवा॑ सु॒राधाः॑ ॥ (८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हम स्तुतिकर्तता बहुत से शत्रुओं के हंता, धर्षक, प्रेरक, महान्, विनाशरहित, कामवर्षी एवं शोभन वञ्ज धारण करने वाले इंद्र की स्तुति करते हैं. वे वृत्र असुर को मारने वाले, अन्न देने वाले, शोभन धनयुक्त एवं धनदानकर्ता हैं. (८)
EN English Translation
We praise Indra, who is the harbinger, the abrasive, the motivator, the great, the unspoken, the workable and the adorned vanja of many enemies. They are the ones who kill the Vrithra Asura, the givers of food, the rich and the givers of wealth. (8)
अ॒यं वृत॑श्चातयते समी॒चीर्य आ॒जिषु॑ म॒घवा॑ शृ॒ण्व एकः॑ । अ॒यं वाजं॑ भरति॒ यं स॒नोत्य॒स्य प्रि॒यासः॑ स॒ख्ये स्या॑म ॥ (९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
धन के स्वामी इंद्र संग्रामों में अद्वितीय सुने जाते हैं. वे एकत्र शत्रु सेनाओं को नष्ट कर देते हैं एवं यजमानों को देने योग्य अन्न को धारण करते हैं. हम इंद्र के मित्र बनकर प्रिय हों. (९)
EN English Translation
The lord of wealth is heard uniquely in indra sangrams. They destroy the enemy armies gathered and hold on to the food they can give to the hosts. Let us be dear to Indra's friends. (9)
अ॒यं शृ॑ण्वे॒ अध॒ जय॑न्नु॒त घ्नन्न॒यमु॒त प्र कृ॑णुते यु॒धा गाः । य॒दा स॒त्यं कृ॑णु॒ते म॒न्युमिन्द्रो॒ विश्वं॑ दृ॒ळ्हं भ॑यत॒ एज॑दस्मात् ॥ (१०)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
यह सुना जाता है कि इंद्र शत्रुओं के विजेता एवं विनाशक हैं. यह युद्ध के द्वारा शत्रुओं को मारते हुए गाएं छीन लेते हैं. इंद्र जब वास्तव में क्रोध धारण करते हैं, तब समस्त स्थावर एवं जंगम डर जाता है. (१०)
EN English Translation
It is heard that Indra is the conqueror and destroyer of the enemies. It takes away the cows while killing the enemies by war. When Indra really takes on anger, then all the real and movable is scared. (10)
समिन्द्रो॒ गा अ॑जय॒त्सं हिर॑ण्या॒ सम॑श्वि॒या म॒घवा॒ यो ह॑ पू॒र्वीः । ए॒भिर्नृभि॒र्नृत॑मो अस्य शा॒कै रा॒यो वि॑भ॒क्ता स॑म्भ॒रश्च॒ वस्वः॑ ॥ (११)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
धनस्वामी इंद्र ने असुरों को जीता. उनके रमणीय धन, अश्वसमूह एवं सेनाओं की जीता. इंद्र अपनी शक्तियों द्वारा सभी मनुष्यों में श्रेष्ठ, स्तोताओं की स्तुति सुनकर धन को बांटने वाले एवं धन धारणकर्त्ता हैं. (११)
EN English Translation
Dhanswami Indra conquered the Asuras and won their delightful wealth, equine and armies. Indra is the best among all human beings by his powers, One who holds and distributes wealth by listening to the hymns of the praise. (11)
किय॑त्स्वि॒दिन्द्रो॒ अध्ये॑ति मा॒तुः किय॑त्पि॒तुर्ज॑नि॒तुर्यो ज॒जान॑ । यो अ॑स्य॒ शुष्मं॑ मुहु॒कैरिय॑र्ति॒ वातो॒ न जू॒तः स्त॒नय॑द्भिर॒भ्रैः ॥ (१२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
इंद्र अपने माता एवं पिता के पास से कितना अधिक बल प्राप्त करते हैं? इंद्र ने अपने पिता प्रजापति के पास से इस संसार को उत्पन्न किया है एवं उनके पास से बार-बार संसार का बल प्राप्त करते हैं. स्तोता हवि देने के लिए इंद्र को इस प्रकार बुलाते हैं, जैसे हवा बादलों को प्रेरित करती है. (१२)
EN English Translation
How much more force does Indra gain from his mother and father? Indra has created this world from his father Prajapati and from him he repeatedly gains the strength of the world. The stotas call Indra to give the havi as if the wind inspires the clouds. (12)
क्षि॒यन्तं॑ त्व॒मक्षि॑यन्तं कृणो॒तीय॑र्ति रे॒णुं म॒घवा॑ स॒मोह॑म् । वि॒भ॒ञ्ज॒नुर॒शनि॑माँ इव॒ द्यौरु॒त स्तो॒तारं॑ म॒घवा॒ वसौ॑ धात् ॥ (१३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे धनस्वामी इंद्र! तुम निर्धन को धनवान् बनाते हो. वज्रधारी, आकाश के समान व श्रुनाशकर्ता इंद्र समस्त पापों का नाश करते एवं अपने स्तुतिकर्ता को धन देते हैं. (१३)
EN English Translation
O Dhanaswami Indra! You make the poor rich. Indra, the thunderbolt, the like of the sky and the adorner of the shrew, destroys all sins and gives wealth to his praiseor. (13)
अ॒यं च॒क्रमि॑षण॒त्सूर्य॑स्य॒ न्येत॑शं रीरमत्ससृमा॒णम् । आ कृ॒ष्ण ईं॑ जुहुरा॒णो जि॑घर्ति त्व॒चो बु॒ध्ने रज॑सो अ॒स्य योनौ॑ ॥ (१४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
इंद्र ने सूर्य के चक्र नामक आयुध को रोका एवं स्तुति करने वाले एतश ऋषि की रक्षा की. काले रंग व टेढ़ी चाल वाले बादल ने तेज के मूल एवं जल के उत्पत्ति स्थान आकाश में विराजमान इंद्र को भिगोया. (१४)
EN English Translation
Indra stopped the sun's cycle of armament and protected the sage Etash, who praised him. The cloud of black and crooked motion soaked Indra sitting in the sky, the origin of the lightning and the origin of the water. (14)

जिस प्रकार यजमान रात में भी इंद्र को हव्य देता है, उसी प्रकार इंद्र भी उसे धन एवं ऐश्वर्य प्रदान करता है. (१५)
EN English Translation
Just as the host gives a greeting to Indra even at night, so Indra also gives him wealth and splendor. (15)
ग॒व्यन्त॒ इन्द्रं॑ स॒ख्याय॒ विप्रा॑ अश्वा॒यन्तो॒ वृष॑णं वा॒जय॑न्तः । ज॒नी॒यन्तो॑ जनि॒दामक्षि॑तोति॒मा च्या॑वयामोऽव॒ते न कोश॑म् ॥ (१६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हम मेधासंपन्न स्तोतागण गायों, घोड़ों, अन्न एवं स्त्री की अभिलाषा करते हैं. कुएं से पानी निकालने के लिए लोग जिस प्रकार पात्र को नीचा करते हैं, उसी प्रकार हम कामवर्षी, पत्नी देने वाले एवं अमिट रक्षा करने वाले की मित्रता पाने के लिए झुकते हैं. (१६)
EN English Translation
We, the medhasams, the hymns, wish for cows, horses, food and women. Just as people lower the container to draw water from the well, so we bow down to find the friendship of the workman, the wife-giver and the indelible protector. (16)
त्रा॒ता नो॑ बोधि॒ ददृ॑शान आ॒पिर॑भिख्या॒ता म॑र्डि॒ता सो॒म्याना॑म् । सखा॑ पि॒ता पि॒तृत॑मः पितॄ॒णां कर्ते॑मु लो॒कमु॑श॒ते व॑यो॒धाः ॥ (१७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे विश्वास योग्य, रक्षक, सर्वदर्शी, उपदेशकर्तता एवं सोमयाजी लोगों को सुख देने वाले इंद्र! तुम मित्र, पिता, बाबा, पितरों को बनाने वाले एवं स्वर्ग की अभिलाषा करने वाले यजमानों को अन्न देते हो. (१७)
EN English Translation
O indra, the faithful, the protector, the all-seer, the preacher and the somayaji who gives happiness to the people! You give food to friends, fathers, babas, hosts who make fathers and desire heaven. (17)
स॒खी॒य॒ताम॑वि॒ता बो॑धि॒ सखा॑ गृणा॒न इ॑न्द्र स्तुव॒ते वयो॑ धाः । व॒यं ह्या ते॑ चकृ॒मा स॒बाध॑ आ॒भिः शमी॑भिर्म॒हय॑न्त इन्द्र ॥ (१८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! हम तुम्हारी मित्रता के इच्छुक हैं. हमारी रक्षा करो. हमारी स्तुति सुनकर तुम हमारे मित्र बनो तथा स्तोताओं को अन्न दो. हे इंद्र! हम बाधा उपस्थित होने पर भी तुम्हारी स्तुति करते हैं एवं तुम्हारी पूजा करते हैं. (१८)
EN English Translation
O Indra! We look forward to your friendship. Protect us. When you hear our praise, be our friends and give food to the psalms. O Indra! We praise and worship you even when there is an obstacle. (18)
स्तु॒त इन्द्रो॑ म॒घवा॒ यद्ध॑ वृ॒त्रा भूरी॒ण्येको॑ अप्र॒तीनि॑ हन्ति । अ॒स्य प्रि॒यो ज॑रि॒ता यस्य॒ शर्म॒न्नकि॑र्दे॒वा वा॒रय॑न्ते॒ न मर्ताः॑ ॥ (१९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
युद्ध में हमारी स्तुति सुनकर इंद्र अकेले ही बहुत से शत्रुओं को मार डालते हैं. इंद्र स्तुतिकर्त्ताओं को प्रेम करते हैं. स्तुतिकर्ता के कल्याण को कोई भी देव या मानव नहीं रोक सकता. (१९)
EN English Translation
Hearing our praise in the war, Indra alone kills many enemies. Indra loves the praises. No god or human can stop the welfare of the praiseor. (19)
ए॒वा न॒ इन्द्रो॑ म॒घवा॑ विर॒प्शी कर॑त्स॒त्या च॑र्षणी॒धृद॑न॒र्वा । त्वं राजा॑ ज॒नुषां॑ धेह्य॒स्मे अधि॒ श्रवो॒ माहि॑नं॒ यज्ज॑रि॒त्रे ॥ (२०)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे धन के स्वामी, प्रजाओं को धारण करने वाले, शन्रुरहित एवं भांति-भांति के शब्दों से युक्त इंद्र! तुम हमारी स्तुति को सत्य करो. तुम सभी जन्मधारियों के राजा हो. तुम स्तोता को जो यश देते हो, वह अधिक मात्रा में हमें दो. (२०)
EN English Translation
O Lord of wealth, the possessor of the people, the one who is without a curse and with various words, Indra! You make our praise come true. You are the king of all the birthrights. Give us more than the praise you give to The Psalms. (20)
नू ष्टु॒त इ॑न्द्र॒ नू गृ॑णा॒न इषं॑ जरि॒त्रे न॒द्यो॒३॒॑ न पी॑पेः । अका॑रि ते हरिवो॒ ब्रह्म॒ नव्यं॑ धि॒या स्या॑म र॒थ्यः॑ सदा॒साः ॥ (२१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! जिस प्रकार जल नदी को पूर्ण करता है, उसी प्रकार तुम पूर्ववर्ती ऋषियों को तथा हमारी स्तुतियों को स्वीकार करके हमारी अन्नवृद्धि करो. हे हरि नामक घोड़ों के स्वामी इंद्र! हमने तुम्हारे निमित्त नई स्तुतियां बनाई हैं. हम रथ के स्वामी एवं तुम्हारे सेवक बनें. (२१)
EN English Translation
O Indra! Just as water fills the river, so do you increase our food by accepting the former sages and our praises. O Indra, lord of horses named Hari! We have made new praises for you. Let us be the masters of the chariot and your servants. (21)
