ए॒वा त्वामि॑न्द्र वज्रि॒न्नत्र॒ विश्वे॑ दे॒वासः॑ सु॒हवा॑स॒ ऊमाः॑ । म॒हामु॒भे रोद॑सी वृ॒द्धमृ॒ष्वं निरेक॒मिद्वृ॑णते वृत्र॒हत्ये॑ ॥ (१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे वज्रधारी इंद्र! इस यज्ञ में आए हुए समस्त देवगण भली प्रकार बुलाए गए एवं रक्षा करने में समर्थ हैं. वे आकाश एवं पृथ्वी के साथ वृत्रनाश के लिए तुम्हें ही बुलाते हैं. तुम स्तुतिपात्र, परम गुणशाली एवं सुंदर हो. (१)
EN English Translation
O thunderbolt Indra! All the devas who have come to this yagna are well called and able to protect. They call you for the destruction of the heavens and the earth. You are praiseworthy, the most virtuous and beautiful. (1)
अवा॑सृजन्त॒ जिव्र॑यो॒ न दे॒वा भुवः॑ स॒म्राळि॑न्द्र स॒त्ययो॑निः । अह॒न्नहिं॑ परि॒शया॑न॒मर्णः॒ प्र व॑र्त॒नीर॑रदो वि॒श्वधे॑नाः ॥ (२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे विकसित सत्य के समान एवं सारे संसार के राजा इंद्र! देवों ने तुम्हें उसी प्रकार वृत्र- वध के लिए प्रेरित किया, जिस प्रकार कोई वयस्क पिता अपने पुत्र को किसी काम के लिए उत्साहित करता है. तुमने पानी को रोककर सोए हुए वृत्र को मारा एवं सबको सुख देने वाली सरिताओं को गहरा बनाया. (२)
EN English Translation
O like the developed truth and the king of the whole world, Indra! The gods have inspired you to be slaughtered in the same way that an adult father encourages his son to do something. You stopped the water and hit the sleeping vritra and deepened the saritas who gave happiness to all. (2)
अतृ॑प्णुवन्तं॒ विय॑तमबु॒ध्यमबु॑ध्यमानं सुषुपा॒णमि॑न्द्र । स॒प्त प्रति॑ प्र॒वत॑ आ॒शया॑न॒महिं॒ वज्रे॑ण॒ वि रि॑णा अप॒र्वन् ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! तुमने पूर्णमासी वाले दिन अपने वज्र की सहायता से तृप्तिरहित, शक्तिहीन, निर्बुद्धि, बुरे विचारों वाले, सोए हुए एवं शांत जल को रोकने वाले वृत्र का वध किया. (३)
EN English Translation
O Indra! On the full moon day, with the help of your thunderbolt, you killed the satisfying, the powerless, the unconscionable, the unwise, the evil-minded, the sleeping and the calm water-stopping. (3)
अक्षो॑दय॒च्छव॑सा॒ क्षाम॑ बु॒ध्नं वार्ण वात॒स्तवि॑षीभि॒रिन्द्रः॑ । दृ॒ळ्हान्यौ॑भ्नादु॒शमा॑न॒ ओजोऽवा॑भिनत्क॒कुभः॒ पर्व॑तानाम् ॥ (४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जिस तरह वायु शक्ति द्वारा जल को क्षुब्ध कर देता है, उसी प्रकार शक्तिशाली इंद्र अपनी शक्ति द्वारा आकाश को अपने तेज से पूर्ण करके जल को छिन्न-भिन्न कर देते हैं. शक्ति की इच्छा करने वाले इंद्र पर्वतों के पंख काट डालते हैं. (४)
EN English Translation
Just as air makes water angry with power, so the powerful Indra, by his power, completes the sky with its brightness and shatters the water. Indra, who desires power, cuts off the wings of the mountains. (4)
अ॒भि प्र द॑द्रु॒र्जन॑यो॒ न गर्भं॒ रथा॑ इव॒ प्र य॑युः सा॒कमद्र॑यः । अत॑र्पयो वि॒सृत॑ उ॒ब्ज ऊ॒र्मीन्त्वं वृ॒ताँ अ॑रिणा इन्द्र॒ सिन्धू॑न् ॥ (५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! मरुद्गण एवं रथ वृत्रवध के समय तुम्हारे पास इस प्रकार पहुंचे थे, जिस प्रकार माता पुत्र के पास जाती है. तुमने सरिताओं को जलपूर्ण किया, मेघ को विदीर्ण किया एवं रुका हुआ जल प्रवाहित किया. (५)
EN English Translation
O Indra! The deserts and chariots reached you at the time of the death in this way, just as the mother goes to the son. You have watered the streams, pierced the cloud and poured the stalled water. (5)
त्वं म॒हीम॒वनिं॑ वि॒श्वधे॑नां तु॒र्वीत॑ये व॒य्या॑य॒ क्षर॑न्तीम् । अर॑मयो॒ नम॒सैज॒दर्णः॑ सुतर॒णाँ अ॑कृणोरिन्द्र॒ सिन्धू॑न् ॥ (६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! तुमने विशाल, सबकी अभिलाषा पूर्ण करने वाली एवं तुर्वीति और वय्य राजाओं को मनोवांछित फल देने वाली धरती को जल एवं अन्न से युक्त कर दिया था. तुमने जल को ऐसा कर दिया था कि उसे सरलता से पार किया जा सके. (६)
EN English Translation
O Indra! You have made the earth rich, fulfilling the desire of all and giving the desired fruits to the turviti and the elderly kings with water and grain. You made the water so that it could be easily crossed. (6)
प्राग्रुवो॑ नभ॒न्वो॒३॒॑ न वक्वा॑ ध्व॒स्रा अ॑पिन्वद्युव॒तीरृ॑त॒ज्ञाः । धन्वा॒न्यज्रा॑ँ अपृणक्तृषा॒णाँ अधो॒गिन्द्रः॑ स्त॒र्यो॒३॒॑ दंसु॑पत्नीः ॥ (७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
इंद्र जिस प्रकार अपनी शन्रुनाशक सेना को पूर्ण करते हैं, उसी प्रकार इन्होंने किनारों को तोड़ने वाली, जल से भरी हुई एवं अन्न पैदा करने में सहायक नदियों को पूर्ण किया था एवं प्यासे लोगों की प्यास बुझाई थी, इंद्र ने ऐसी गायों का दूध काढ़ा, जिन पर राक्षसों ने अधिकार कर लिया था तथा जो बछड़ा पैदा कर चुकी थीं. (७)
EN English Translation
Just as Indra completes his shanrustic army, so he had completed the rivers that broke the banks, filled with water and the tributaries in the production of food and quenched the thirst of the thirsty, Indra made milk of cows that were captured by the demons and which had produced the calf. (7)
पू॒र्वीरु॒षसः॑ श॒रद॑श्च गू॒र्ता वृ॒त्रं ज॑घ॒न्वाँ अ॑सृज॒द्वि सिन्धू॑न् । परि॑ष्ठिता अतृणद्बद्बधा॒नाः सी॒रा इन्द्रः॒ स्रवि॑तवे पृथि॒व्या ॥ (८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
इंद्र ने वत्र राक्षस को मारकर अंधकार द्वारा लिपटी हुई अनेक उषाओं एवं संवत्सरों को उसके बंधन से छुड़ाया था. इसके साथ ही वृत्र द्वारा रोके हुए जल को प्रवाहित किया था. इंद्र ने मेघ के चारों ओर स्थित एवं वृत्र राक्षस द्वारा रोकी गई नदियों को धरती के ऊपर बहने योग्य बनाया. (८)
EN English Translation
Indra had killed the demon Vatra and freed many ushas and samvatsars, wrapped in darkness, from his bondage. At the same time, the water withheld by the vitter was flown. Indra made the rivers located around the cloud and stopped by the demon Vritra worthy of flowing above the earth. (8)
व॒म्रीभिः॑ पु॒त्रम॒ग्रुवो॑ अदा॒नं नि॒वेश॑नाद्धरिव॒ आ ज॑भर्थ । व्य१॒॑न्धो अ॑ख्य॒दहि॑माददा॒नो निर्भू॑दुख॒च्छित्सम॑रन्त॒ पर्व॑ ॥ (९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे हरि नामक घोड़ों के स्वामी इंद्र! तुमने उपजिह्विका नामक विशेष कीड़ों द्वारा खाए हुए अग्रपुत्र को वल्मीक से बाहर निकाला था. अंधे अग्रपुत्र ने सांप के समान भली प्रकार देखा, क्यॉकि उसके उपजिह्विका द्वारा खाए हुए अंगों को इंद्र ने पूर्ववत् कर दिया था. (९)
EN English Translation
O Indra, lord of horses named Hari! You took out of the vulmic the forefathers eaten by special insects called the sub-hika. The blind forefather looked as well as a snake, because the limbs eaten by his sub-conqueror had been undone by Indra. (9)
प्र ते॒ पूर्वा॑णि॒ कर॑णानि विप्रावि॒द्वाँ आ॑ह वि॒दुषे॒ करां॑सि । यथा॑यथा॒ वृष्ण्या॑नि॒ स्वगू॒र्तापां॑सि राज॒न्नर्यावि॑वेषीः ॥ (१०)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे बुद्धिमान् राजन् एवं सब कुछ जानने वाले इंद्र! तुमने जिस प्रकार वर्षण कार्य किए एवं मनुष्यों को संपन्न करने वाली वर्षा करने में संपर्क कार्य किए, वामदेव ने उनका ज्यों का त्यों वर्णन कर दिया है. (१०)
EN English Translation
O the wise King and indra who knows all things! Just as you have done the rainwork and the contact work in bringing about the rain that brings about the people, The Left God has described them as such. (10)
नू ष्टु॒त इ॑न्द्र॒ नू गृ॑णा॒न इषं॑ जरि॒त्रे न॒द्यो॒३॒॑ न पी॑पेः । अका॑रि ते हरिवो॒ ब्रह्म॒ नव्यं॑ धि॒या स्या॑म र॒थ्यः॑ सदा॒साः ॥ (११)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! जिस प्रकार जल नदी को पूर्ण करता है, उसी प्रकार तुम पूर्ववर्ती ऋषियों की तथा हमारी स्तुतियां स्वीकार करके हमारी अन्न वृद्धि करो. हे हरि नामक घोड़ों के स्वामी इंद्र! हमने तुम्हारे निमित्त नई स्तुतियां बनाई हैं. हम रथ के स्वामी एवं तुम्हारे सेवक बनें. (११)
EN English Translation
O Indra! Just as water fills the river, so do you increase our food by accepting the praises of the former sages and our praises. O Indra, lord of horses named Hari! We have made new praises for you. Let us be the masters of the chariot and your servants. (11)
