त्र्य॑र्य॒मा मनु॑षो दे॒वता॑ता॒ त्री रो॑च॒ना दि॒व्या धा॑रयन्त । अर्च॑न्ति त्वा म॒रुतः॑ पू॒तद॑क्षा॒स्त्वमे॑षा॒मृषि॑रिन्द्रासि॒ धीरः॑ ॥ (१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
मनु के यज्ञ के तीन तेजों एवं अंतरिक्ष में होने वाले तीन प्रकाशयुक्तों को मरुतों ने धारण किया है. हे इंद्र! पवित्र-शक्ति वाले मरुत् तुम्हारी स्तुति करते हैं. हे धीर इंद्र! तुम इन्हें देखने वाले हो. (१)
EN English Translation
The three lights of Manu's yajna and the three light-bearings in space are held by the Maruts. O Indra! The holy-powered deserts praise you. O patient Indra! You're going to see them. (1)
अनु॒ यदीं॑ म॒रुतो॑ मन्दसा॒नमार्च॒न्निन्द्रं॑ पपि॒वांसं॑ सु॒तस्य॑ । आद॑त्त॒ वज्र॑म॒भि यदहिं॒ हन्न॒पो य॒ह्वीर॑सृज॒त्सर्त॒वा उ॑ ॥ (२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जब मरुतों ने निचोड़े हुए सोमरस को पीकर प्रसन्न इंद्र की स्तुति की, तब इंद्र ने वज्र उठाया, शत्रु का नाश किया एवं वृत्र द्वारा रोकी गई विशाल जलराशि को बहने के लिए छोड़ा. (२)
EN English Translation
When the Maruts praised the pleased Indra by drinking the squeezed somras, Indra picked up the thunderbolt, destroyed the enemy and left the huge water deposit stopped by the vritra to flow. (2)
उ॒त ब्र॑ह्माणो मरुतो मे अ॒स्येन्द्रः॒ सोम॑स्य॒ सुषु॑तस्य पेयाः । तद्धि ह॒व्यं मनु॑षे॒ गा अवि॑न्द॒दह॒न्नहिं॑ पपि॒वाँ इन्द्रो॑ अस्य ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे महान् मरुतो! तुम इंद्र के साथ मिलकर इस भली प्रकार निचोड़े गए सोम को पिओ. इसी हव्य ने यजमान को गाएं दिलाई हैं एवं इसी को पीकर इंद्र ने अहि को मारा था. (३)
EN English Translation
O great Maruto! You together with Indra drink this well squeezed mon. This same havya has given the songs to the host and by drinking it, Indra killed Ahi. (3)
आद्रोद॑सी वित॒रं वि ष्क॑भायत्संविव्या॒नश्चि॑द्भि॒यसे॑ मृ॒गं कः॑ । जिग॑र्ति॒मिन्द्रो॑ अप॒जर्गु॑राणः॒ प्रति॑ श्व॒सन्त॒मव॑ दान॒वं ह॑न् ॥ (४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
इंद्र ने सोमरस पीने के बाद ही विस्तृत धरती-आकाश को स्तंभित किया था एवं गतिशील बनकर हिरन के समान भागते हुए वृत्र को डराया था. इंद्र ने छिपे हुए एवं सांस लेते हुए वृत्र को आच्छादनरहित करके मारा. (४)
EN English Translation
It was only after Indra had drunk the Somras that he had stunned the vast earth-sky and became dynamic and frightened Vritra, running like a deer. Indra, while hiding and breathing, hit the vritra without covering it. (4)
अध॒ क्रत्वा॑ मघव॒न्तुभ्यं॑ दे॒वा अनु॒ विश्वे॑ अददुः सोम॒पेय॑म् । यत्सूर्य॑स्य ह॒रितः॒ पत॑न्तीः पु॒रः स॒तीरुप॑रा॒ एत॑शे॒ कः ॥ (५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे धनस्वामी इंद्र! तुम्हारे इस कार्य के बदले सभी देवों ने तुम्हें पीने के लिए सोम दिया था. तुमने एतश ऋषि के कल्याण के लिए सामने से आते हुए सूर्य के घोड़ों को रोक दिया था. (५)
EN English Translation
O Dhanaswami Indra! In exchange for this work of yours, all the gods gave you som to drink. You stopped the horses of the sun coming from the front for the welfare of the sage. (5)
नव॒ यद॑स्य नव॒तिं च॑ भो॒गान्सा॒कं वज्रे॑ण म॒घवा॑ विवृ॒श्चत् । अर्च॒न्तीन्द्रं॑ म॒रुतः॑ स॒धस्थे॒ त्रैष्टु॑भेन॒ वच॑सा बाधत॒ द्याम् ॥ (६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जब धन के स्वामी इंद्र ने शंबर के निन्यानवे नगरों को वज्र द्वारा एक साथ नष्ट कर दिया था, तब मरुतों ने युद्धभूमि में ही त्रिष्टुप् छंद द्वारा इंद्र की स्तुति की थी. इंद्र ने मरुतों की स्तुति से शक्तिशाली बनकर शंबर को बाधा पहुंचाई. (६)
EN English Translation
When Indra, the lord of wealth, had destroyed the ninety-nine cities of Shambar simultaneously with the thunderbolt, the Maruts praised Indra through the trishtupanda in the battlefield itself. Indra interrupted Sambar by becoming powerful with the praise of the Maruts. (6)
सखा॒ सख्ये॑ अपच॒त्तूय॑म॒ग्निर॒स्य क्रत्वा॑ महि॒षा त्री श॒तानि॑ । त्री सा॒कमिन्द्रो॒ मनु॑षः॒ सरां॑सि सु॒तं पि॑बद्वृत्र॒हत्या॑य॒ सोम॑म् ॥ (७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
अग्नि ने अपने मित्र इंद्र के लिए शीघ्र ही तीन सौ भैंसों को पकाया था. इंद्र ने वृत्र को मारने के लिए मनु के तीन पात्रों में भरे हुए सोम को एक साथ पी लिया था. (७)
EN English Translation
Agni had soon cooked three hundred buffaloes for his friend Indra. Indra had drunk The Mon, who was filled with three characters of Manu together, to kill Vritra. (7)
त्री यच्छ॒ता म॑हि॒षाणा॒मघो॒ मास्त्री सरां॑सि म॒घवा॑ सो॒म्यापाः॑ । का॒रं न विश्वे॑ अह्वन्त दे॒वा भर॒मिन्द्रा॑य॒ यदहिं॑ ज॒घान॑ ॥ (८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे धनस्वामी इंद्र! जब तुमने तीन सौ भैंसों का मांस खाया, सोमरस से भरे तीन पात्रों को पिया एवं वृत्र को मारा, तब सब देवों ने सोमपान से पूर्ण तृप्त इंद्र को उसी प्रकार बुलाया, जिस प्रकार अधिपति अपने दास को बुलाता है. (८)
EN English Translation
O Dhanaswami Indra! When you ate the meat of three hundred buffaloes, drank three vessels full of somras and killed Vritra, all the gods called Indra, who was completely satisfied with Sompan, in the same way that the master calls his servant. (8)
उ॒शना॒ यत्स॑ह॒स्यै॒३॒॑रया॑तं गृ॒हमि॑न्द्र जूजुवा॒नेभि॒रश्वैः॑ । व॒न्वा॒नो अत्र॑ स॒रथं॑ ययाथ॒ कुत्से॑न दे॒वैरव॑नोर्ह॒ शुष्ण॑म् ॥ (९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! जब तुम और उशना कवि सबको पराजित करने वाले एवं शीघ्र चलने वाले घोड़ों के द्वारा कुत्स ऋषि के घर गए थे, उस समय तुम शत्रुओं की हिंसा करते हुए समस्त देवों एवं कुत्स के साथ एक रथ पर बैठकर चले थे. तुमने शुष्ण असुर को मारा था. (९)
EN English Translation
O Indra! When you and the Ushana poet went to the house of sage Kutsa by horsemen who defeated all of them and walked quickly, you sat on a chariot with all the gods and dogs, doing violence to the enemies. You killed the shushna asura. (9)
प्रान्यच्च॒क्रम॑वृहः॒ सूर्य॑स्य॒ कुत्सा॑या॒न्यद्वरि॑वो॒ यात॑वेऽकः । अ॒नासो॒ दस्यू॑ँरमृणो व॒धेन॒ नि दु॑र्यो॒ण आ॑वृणङ्मृ॒ध्रवा॑चः ॥ (१०)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! तुमने सूर्य के रथ के एक पहिए को पहले ही अलग कर दिया था एवं दूसरा पहिया कुत्स को इसलिए दे दिया था कि वह धन पा सके. तुमने शब्द न करने वाले दस्युओं को संग्राम में वज्र द्वारा वाणीरहित करके मारा था. (१०)
EN English Translation
O Indra! You had already separated one wheel of the sun's chariot and gave the other wheel to the dog so that he could get money. You killed the non-wording bandits by a thunderbolt in the battle. (10)
स्तोमा॑सस्त्वा॒ गौरि॑वीतेरवर्ध॒न्नर॑न्धयो वैदथि॒नाय॒ पिप्रु॑म् । आ त्वामृ॒जिश्वा॑ स॒ख्याय॑ चक्रे॒ पच॑न्प॒क्तीरपि॑बः॒ सोम॑मस्य ॥ (११)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! गौरिवीति ऋषि के स्तोत्र तुम्हें बढ़ावें. तुमने विदधिन के पुत्र ऋजिश्वा के कल्याण के निमित्त पिप्रु नामक असुर को अपने वश में किया था. ऋजिश्चा ने तुम्हारी मित्रता पाने के लिए पुरोडाश पकाकर तुम्हारे सामने रखा था एवं तुमने उसका सोमरस पिया था. (११)
EN English Translation
O Indra! May the hymns of sage Gouriviti raise you up. You had subdued the asura named Pipru for the welfare of Rijishwa, the son of Viddhin. Rizisha had cooked the purodash and placed it in front of you to get your friendship and you drank its somras. (11)
नव॑ग्वासः सु॒तसो॑मास॒ इन्द्रं॒ दश॑ग्वासो अ॒भ्य॑र्चन्त्य॒र्कैः । गव्यं॑ चिदू॒र्वम॑पि॒धान॑वन्तं॒ तं चि॒न्नरः॑ शशमा॒ना अप॑ व्रन् ॥ (१२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
नौ एवं दस महीनों तक चलने वाले यज्ञों के कर्ता अंगिरावंशीय ऋषियों ने सोम निचोड़कर स्तुतियों द्वारा इंद्र की पूजा की थी. स्तुति करते हुए अंगिरावंशीय ऋषियों ने असुरों द्वारा छिपाए हुए गोसमूह को छुटकारा दिलाया था. (१२)
EN English Translation
The anti-dynastic sages, the doers of the nine- and ten-month-long yagnas, had worshipped Indra through hymns by squeezing som. Praising, the Angirathian sages had redeemed the go group hidden by the asuras. (12)
क॒थो नु ते॒ परि॑ चराणि वि॒द्वान्वी॒र्या॑ मघव॒न्या च॒कर्थ॑ । या चो॒ नु नव्या॑ कृ॒णवः॑ शविष्ठ॒ प्रेदु॒ ता ते॑ वि॒दथे॑षु ब्रवाम ॥ (१३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे धनस्वामी इंद्र! तुमने जो पराक्रम प्रकट किया था, उसे जानते हुए भी हम तुम्हारे सामने किस प्रकार प्रकट करें? हे शक्तिशाली इंद्र! तुम जो भी नया पराक्रम दिखाओगे, हम यज्ञों में उसका वर्णन करेंगे. (१३)
EN English Translation
O Dhanaswami Indra! How can we reveal to you, knowing the mighty you have revealed? O mighty Indra! Whatever new feat you show, we will describe it in the yajnas. (13)
ए॒ता विश्वा॑ चकृ॒वाँ इ॑न्द्र॒ भूर्यप॑रीतो ज॒नुषा॑ वी॒र्ये॑ण । या चि॒न्नु व॑ज्रिन्कृ॒णवो॑ दधृ॒ष्वान्न ते॑ व॒र्ता तवि॑ष्या अस्ति॒ तस्याः॑ ॥ (१४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे शत्रुओं द्वारा अपराजित इंद्र! तुमने अपनी निजी शक्ति द्वारा इन अनेक लोकों को बनाया है. हे वज्रधारी इंद्र! शत्रुओं को शीघ्र पराजित करते हुए तुम जो कुछ करोगे, तुम्हारे उस कार्य को कोई अधिक नहीं कर सकता. (१४)
EN English Translation
O Indra, undefeated by the enemies! You have created these many realms by your personal power. O thunderbolt Indra! Whatever you do by defeating the enemies quickly, no one can do more of your work. (14)
इन्द्र॒ ब्रह्म॑ क्रि॒यमा॑णा जुषस्व॒ या ते॑ शविष्ठ॒ नव्या॒ अक॑र्म । वस्त्रे॑व भ॒द्रा सुकृ॑ता वसू॒यू रथं॒ न धीरः॒ स्वपा॑ अतक्षम् ॥ (१५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे सर्वाधिक बलवान् इंद्र! तुम्हारे निमित्त हमने जो नए स्तोत्र बनाए हैं, उन्हें तुम स्वीकार करो. बुद्धिमान्, शोभन-कर्म करने वाले एवं धन के इच्छुक हम लोगों ने ये स्तोत्र रथ एवं कपड़ों के समान तुम्हें अर्पण किए हैं. (१५)
EN English Translation
O most powerful Indra! Accept the new psalms we have made for you. We, the wise, the doers of adornment and the desire for wealth, have offered these hymns to you like chariots and clothes. (15)
