क्व१॒॑ स्य वी॒रः को अ॑पश्य॒दिन्द्रं॑ सु॒खर॑थ॒मीय॑मानं॒ हरि॑भ्याम् । यो रा॒या व॒ज्री सु॒तसो॑ममि॒च्छन्तदोको॒ गन्ता॑ पुरुहू॒त ऊ॒ती ॥ (१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
वज्रधारी एवं बहुतों द्वारा बुलाए गए इंद्र धन के साथ-साथ सोमरस निचोड़ने वाले यजमान की अभिलाषा पूर्ण करते हुए यजमान की रक्षा करने के निमित्त उसके घर में चले जाते हैं. वे वीर इंद्र कहां हैं? हरि नामक घोड़ों द्वारा खींचे जाते हुए सुखदायक रथ पर बैठकर चलने वाले इंद्र को किसने देखा है? (१)
EN English Translation
Indra holding the thunderbolt, who is called by many, fulfills the desire of the host who squeezes the somaras along with wealth, goes to his house to protect the host. Where is that brave Indra? Who has seen Indra walking on a pleasing chariot pulled by horses named Hari? (1)
अवा॑चचक्षं प॒दम॑स्य स॒स्वरु॒ग्रं नि॑धा॒तुरन्वा॑यमि॒च्छन् । अपृ॑च्छम॒न्याँ उ॒त ते म॑ आहु॒रिन्द्रं॒ नरो॑ बुबुधा॒ना अ॑शेम ॥ (२)

हमने इंद्र के छिपे हुए एवं भयानक स्थानों को देखा है. हम ढूंढ़ते हुए अपनी स्थापना करने वाले इंद्र के उस स्थान में गए हैं. हमने दूसरे विद्वानों से इंद्र के विषय में पूछा है. उन नेताओं एवं ज्ञानियों ने कहा कि हमने इंद्र को प्राप्त कर लिया है. (२)
EN English Translation
We have seen the hidden and terrible places of Indra. We have gone to that place of Indra, who founded ourselves in search. We have asked other scholars about Indra. Those leaders and wise men said that we have attained Indra. (2)
प्र नु व॒यं सु॒ते या ते॑ कृ॒तानीन्द्र॒ ब्रवा॑म॒ यानि॑ नो॒ जुजो॑षः । वेद॒दवि॑द्वाञ्छृ॒णव॑च्च वि॒द्वान्वह॑ते॒ऽयं म॒घवा॒ सर्व॑सेनः ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! तुमने जो कर्म किए हैं, हम स्तोतागण सोम निचुड़ जाने पर उनका उत्तम वर्णन करते हैं. तुमने भी हमारे जिन कर्मो को स्वीकार किया है, उन्हें न जानने वाले लोग जान लें. जानने वाले लोग उन्हें न जानने वालों को सुनावें. धनस्वामी एवं ज्ञानी इंद्र अपनी सभी सेनाओं सहित जानने वाले एवं सुनाने वालों के समीप जावें. (३)
EN English Translation
O Indra! We best describe the deeds you have done when you go to Stotagan Som Nichud. Let those who do not know our deeds that you have accepted. Let those who know them hear those who do not know them. May Dhanaswami and the wise Indra, along with all his armies, go to the knowers and hearers. (3)
स्थि॒रं मन॑श्चकृषे जा॒त इ॑न्द्र॒ वेषीदेको॑ यु॒धये॒ भूय॑सश्चित् । अश्मा॑नं चि॒च्छव॑सा दिद्युतो॒ वि वि॒दो गवा॑मू॒र्वमु॒स्रिया॑णाम् ॥ (४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! तुमने जन्म लेते ही अपना मन स्थिर किया एवं अकेले ही अनगिनत राक्षसो से युद्ध करने के लिए चल पड़े. तुमने अपनी शक्ति द्वारा गायों को छिपाने वाले पर्वत को तोड़ डाला था एवं दुधारू गायों को पाया था. (४)
EN English Translation
O Indra! As soon as you were born, you fixed your mind and went to war with countless monsters alone. You broke the mountain that hid the cows by your power and found the milch cows. (4)
प॒रो यत्त्वं प॑र॒म आ॒जनि॑ष्ठाः परा॒वति॒ श्रुत्यं॒ नाम॒ बिभ्र॑त् । अत॑श्चि॒दिन्द्रा॑दभयन्त दे॒वा विश्वा॑ अ॒पो अ॑जयद्दा॒सप॑त्नीः ॥ (५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे सर्वोच्च एवं सर्वोत्कृष्ट इंद्र! तुमने दूरदूर तक प्रसिद्ध नाम को धारण करते हुए जन्म लिया था. उस समय सभी देव तुमसे डर गए थे एवं तुमने वृत्र द्वारा रोके गए समस्त जलों को जीत लिया था. (५)
EN English Translation
O supreme and supreme Indra! You were born holding the famous name far away. At that time all the gods were afraid of you and you conquered all the waters stopped by the vritra. (5)
तुभ्येदे॒ते म॒रुतः॑ सु॒शेवा॒ अर्च॑न्त्य॒र्कं सु॒न्वन्त्यन्धः॑ । अहि॑मोहा॒नम॒प आ॒शया॑नं॒ प्र मा॒याभि॑र्मा॒यिनं॑ सक्ष॒दिन्द्रः॑ ॥ (६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! ये उत्तम सुख देने वाले स्तोता स्तुतियों द्वारा तुम्हारी प्रशंसा करते हैं एवं तुम्हें पिलाने के लिए अन्नरूपी सोम निचोड़ते हैं. इंद्र ने अपनी शक्तियों द्वारा देवों को बाधा पहुंचाने वाले एवं जलसमूह को रोककर सोए हुए मायावी वृत्र राक्षस को हराया था. (६)
EN English Translation
O Indra! These best-giving hymns praise you with praises and squeeze the anarrupi som to make you drink. Indra had defeated the elusive Vrithra demon, who had obstructed the gods by his powers and stopped the water body. (6)
वि षू मृधो॑ ज॒नुषा॒ दान॒मिन्व॒न्नह॒न्गवा॑ मघवन्संचका॒नः । अत्रा॑ दा॒सस्य॒ नमु॑चेः॒ शिरो॒ यदव॑र्तयो॒ मन॑वे गा॒तुमि॒च्छन् ॥ (७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे धनस्वामी इंद्र! हमारी स्तुति सुनकर तुमने देवों को बाधा पहुंचाने वाले वृत्र को वज्र से मारते हुए जन्म से ही उसके अनुचर राक्षस आदि की हिंसा की थी. हे इंद्र! इस युद्ध में तुम मुझ मनु को सुख देने की इच्छा से नमुचि नामक दास का सिर तोड़ दो. (७)
EN English Translation
O Dhanaswami Indra! On hearing our praises, you had committed violence against his attendant demons, etc., from birth, by killing the vritra, who had obstructed the gods, with a thunderbolt. O Indra! In this war, you break the head of a dasa named Namuchi with the desire to give pleasure to Me Manu. (7)
युजं॒ हि मामकृ॑था॒ आदिदि॑न्द्र॒ शिरो॑ दा॒सस्य॒ नमु॑चेर्मथा॒यन् । अश्मा॑नं चित्स्व॒र्यं१॒॑ वर्त॑मानं॒ प्र च॒क्रिये॑व॒ रोद॑सी म॒रुद्भ्यः॑ ॥ (८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! जिस प्रकार तुमने गर्जन करने वाले एवं घूमते हुए बादल को नष्ट किया था, उसी प्रकार नमुचि नामक दास का सिर तोड़कर उसी समय हमारे साथ मित्रता की थी. उस समय मरुतों के भय से धरती और आकाश पहिए की तरह घूमने लगे थे. (८)
EN English Translation
O Indra! Just as you destroyed the roaring and moving cloud, you made friends with us at the same time by breaking the head of a dasa named Namuchi. At that time, the earth and the sky began to move like wheels for fear of the maruts. (8)
स्त्रियो॒ हि दा॒स आयु॑धानि च॒क्रे किं मा॑ करन्नब॒ला अ॑स्य॒ सेनाः॑ । अ॒न्तर्ह्यख्य॑दु॒भे अ॑स्य॒ धेने॒ अथोप॒ प्रैद्यु॒धये॒ दस्यु॒मिन्द्रः॑ ॥ (९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
नमुचि नामक दास ने स्त्रियों को अपने युद्ध का साधन बनाया. इसकी सारी सेना मेरा क्या कर सकती है? यह सोचते हुए इंद्र ने उनके बीच से उसकी प्यारी दो सुंदरियों को अपने घर में रख लिया एवं नमुचि से लड़ने के लिए चल दिए. (९)
EN English Translation
A dasa named Namuchi made women his means of war. What can the whole army do to me? Thinking of this, Indra kept his two beloved beauties from among them in his house and went to fight with Namuchi. (9)
समत्र॒ गावो॒ऽभितो॑ऽनवन्ते॒हेह॑ व॒त्सैर्वियु॑ता॒ यदास॑न् । सं ता इन्द्रो॑ असृजदस्य शा॒कैर्यदीं॒ सोमा॑सः॒ सुषु॑ता॒ अम॑न्दन् ॥ (१०)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
नमुचि द्वारा चुराई गई गाएं अपने बछड़ों से बिछुड़ जाने पर इधर-उधर भटक रही थीं. वश्चु ऋषि द्वारा निचोड़े गए सोमरस ने इंद्र को प्रसन्न किया, तब इंद्र ने शक्तिशाली मरुतों के साथ मिलकर वश्चु की गायों को बिछुड़े हुए बछड़ों से मिला दिया था. (१०)
EN English Translation
The cows stolen by Namuchi were wandering around when they were separated from their calves. The Somras, squeezed by the sage Vaschu, pleased Indra, then Indra, along with the powerful maruts, had mixed the cows of Vaschu with the separated calves. (10)
यदीं॒ सोमा॑ ब॒भ्रुधू॑ता॒ अम॑न्द॒न्नरो॑रवीद्वृष॒भः साद॑नेषु । पु॒रं॒द॒रः प॑पि॒वाँ इन्द्रो॑ अस्य॒ पुन॒र्गवा॑मददादु॒स्रिया॑णाम् ॥ (११)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जब वञ्चु द्वारा निचोड़े गए सोमरस ने इंद्र को प्रसन्न किया था, तब कामवर्षी इंद्र ने युद्ध में अधिक शब्द किया था. पुरंदर इंद्र ने सोमरस पिया एवं वश्रु की दुधारू गाएं उन्हें वापस दिलवा दीं. (११)
EN English Translation
When the Somras, squeezed by Vanchu, had pleased Indra, the kamvarshi Indra had spoken more words in the war. Purandar Indra drank somers and gave them back to the milch songs of Vasru. (11)
भ॒द्रमि॒दं रु॒शमा॑ अग्ने अक्र॒न्गवां॑ च॒त्वारि॒ दद॑तः स॒हस्रा॑ । ऋ॒णं॒च॒यस्य॒ प्रय॑ता म॒घानि॒ प्रत्य॑ग्रभीष्म॒ नृत॑मस्य नृ॒णाम् ॥ (१२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अग्नि! ऋणंचय राजा के सेवकों ने, जो रुशम देश के निवासी थे, मुझे चार हजार गाएं देकर भला काम किया था. सर्वश्रेष्ठ नेता ऋणंचय द्वारा दिए गए गोरूप धन को मैंने स्वीकार किया था. (१२)
EN English Translation
O agni! The servants of the indebted king, who were residents of the land of Rusham, had done a good job by giving me four thousand songs. I had accepted the gorup money given by the best leader loan. (12)
सु॒पेश॑सं॒ माव॑ सृज॒न्त्यस्तं॒ गवां॑ स॒हस्रै॑ रु॒शमा॑सो अग्ने । ती॒व्रा इन्द्र॑मममन्दुः सु॒तासो॒ऽक्तोर्व्यु॑ष्टौ॒ परि॑तक्म्यायाः ॥ (१३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अग्नि! रुशम देश की प्रजाओं ने मुझे अलंकार, वस्त्रादि से सुशोभित करके हजारों गाएं दी थीं. रात बीतने पर अर्थात् प्रातः निचोड़े हए सोमरस ने इंद्र को प्रसन्न किया. (१३)
EN English Translation
O agni! The people of The Rusham country had adorned me with ornaments, robes and gave me thousands of cows. At the end of the night, that is, in the morning, the squeezed somers pleased Indra. (13)
औच्छ॒त्सा रात्री॒ परि॑तक्म्या॒ याँ ऋ॑णंच॒ये राज॑नि रु॒शमा॑नाम् । अत्यो॒ न वा॒जी र॒घुर॒ज्यमा॑नो ब॒भ्रुश्च॒त्वार्य॑सनत्स॒हस्रा॑ ॥ (१४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
रुशम देश के राजा ऋणंचय के समीप ही मेरी वह गतिशील रात बीत गई थी. वेगवान् घोड़े के सामन शीघ्रतापूर्वक आने वाले वश्ु ऋषि ने चार हजार गाएं प्राप्त की थीं. (१४)
EN English Translation
That dynamic night of mine had passed near the debt of king of The Rusham country. The sage Vashu, who had come quickly to the salmon of the vegvan horse, had received four thousand cows. (14)
चतुः॑सहस्रं॒ गव्य॑स्य प॒श्वः प्रत्य॑ग्रभीष्म रु॒शमे॑ष्वग्ने । घ॒र्मश्चि॑त्त॒प्तः प्र॒वृजे॒ य आसी॑दय॒स्मय॒स्तम्वादा॑म॒ विप्राः॑ ॥ (१५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अग्नि! हमने रुशम देश की प्रजाओं से चार हजार गाएं प्राप्त की थीं. उनके पास महावीर के समान सोने का जो उत्तम वर्ण कलश यज्ञ के काम आने के लिए था, उसे हमने गायों का दूध काढ़ने के लिए ले लिया. (१५)
EN English Translation
O agni! We had received four thousand cows from the people of the country of Rusham. The golden golden kalash that they had with them as Mahavira to come for the purpose of yajna, we took it to take the milk of the cows to take away the milk of the cows. (15)
