द्यौर्न य इ॑न्द्रा॒भि भूमा॒र्यस्त॒स्थौ र॒यिः शव॑सा पृ॒त्सु जना॑न् । तं नः॑ स॒हस्र॑भरमुर्वरा॒सां द॒द्धि सू॑नो सहसो वृत्र॒तुर॑म् ॥ (१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे बलपुत्र इंद्र! हमें ऐसा पुत्र दो जो संग्राम में शत्रुओं पर उसी प्रकार आक्रमण कर सके, जिस प्रकार सूर्य प्राणियों को आक्रांत करते हैं. वह हजारों धनों का स्वामी, उपजाऊ धरती का अधिकारी एवं शत्रुओं का नाशक हो. (१)
EN English Translation
O son of strength Indra! Give us a son who can attack enemies in the same way that the sun strikes beings in a battle. He is the master of thousands of riches, the possessor of the fertile earth and the destroyer of the enemies. (1)
दि॒वो न तुभ्य॒मन्वि॑न्द्र स॒त्रासु॒र्यं॑ दे॒वेभि॑र्धायि॒ विश्व॑म् । अहिं॒ यद्वृ॒त्रम॒पो व॑व्रि॒वांसं॒ हन्नृ॑जीषि॒न्विष्णु॑ना सचा॒नः ॥ (२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! यह बात सत्य है कि स्तुतिकर्तताओं ने तुम में सूर्य के समान बल धारण किया है. हे ऋजीषी इंद्र! तुमने विष्णु के साथ मिलकर जल को रोकने वाले वृत्र का नाश किया. (२)
EN English Translation
O Indra! It is true that the eulogists have possessed in you a force like the sun. O Sage Indra! You along with Vishnu destroyed the water-stopping vritra. (2)
तूर्व॒न्नोजी॑यान्त॒वस॒स्तवी॑यान्कृ॒तब्र॒ह्मेन्द्रो॑ वृ॒द्धम॑हाः । राजा॑भव॒न्मधु॑नः सो॒म्यस्य॒ विश्वा॑सां॒ यत्पु॒रां द॒र्त्नुमाव॑त् ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हिंसकों के हिंसक, परम ओजस्वी, अतिशय बलशाली एवं स्तोताओं को अन्न देने वाले इंद्र ने सभी पुरियों को विदीर्ण करने वाला वज्ज प्राप्त किया, तभी वे मधुर सोम के राजा बने. (३)
EN English Translation
Indra, the most violent, the most powerful, the most powerful and the giver of food to the stoetas, the violent of the violent, the most powerful, and the food to the stoes, attained the wajja that pierced all the puris, only then he became the king of Madhur Som. (3)
श॒तैर॑पद्रन्प॒णय॑ इ॒न्द्रात्र॒ दशो॑णये क॒वये॒ऽर्कसा॑तौ । व॒धैः शुष्ण॑स्या॒शुष॑स्य मा॒याः पि॒त्वो नारि॑रेची॒त्किं च॒न प्र ॥ (४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! बहुत अन्न देने वाले एवं मेधावी कुत्स से युद्ध करने वाले सौ सेनाओं के साथ पणि तुम्हारी सहायता के कारण भाग गए. इंद्र ने समस्त शक्तियों वाले शुष्ण असुर के कपटों को समाप्त करके उसका सभी अन्न छीन लिया. (४)
EN English Translation
O Indra! The people fled with a hundred armies who fought with many food-giving and meritorious dogs because of your help. Indra put an end to the deceitfulness of the shushna asura of all the powers and took away all his food. (4)
म॒हो द्रु॒हो अप॑ वि॒श्वायु॑ धायि॒ वज्र॑स्य॒ यत्पत॑ने॒ पादि॒ शुष्णः॑ । उ॒रु ष स॒रथं॒ सार॑थये क॒रिन्द्रः॒ कुत्सा॑य॒ सूर्य॑स्य सा॒तौ ॥ (५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
शुष्ण असुर जब वज्ज लगने से धरती पर गिरा, तब उसकी सब शक्ति नष्ट हो गई. इंद्र ने सूर्य को प्राप्त करने के निमित्त अपने सारथि कुत्स द्वारा रथ आगे बढ़वाया. (५)
EN English Translation
When the shushna asura fell on the earth due to the vajj, all his power was destroyed. Indra carried the chariot forward with his charioteer kuts in order to attain the sun. (5)
प्र श्ये॒नो न म॑दि॒रमं॒शुम॑स्मै॒ शिरो॑ दा॒सस्य॒ नमु॑चेर्मथा॒यन् । प्राव॒न्नमीं॑ सा॒प्यं स॒सन्तं॑ पृ॒णग्रा॒या समि॒षा सं स्व॒स्ति ॥ (६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
गरुड़ इंद्र के लिए नशीला सोम लाए. इंद्र ने भी उपद्रवी नमुचि का शिर मथ डाला एवं सय के पुत्र निमि नामक ऋषि की सोते समय प्राण रक्षा की. साथ ही उसे धन, अन्न एवं कल्याणों से युक्त किया. (६)
EN English Translation
Garuda brought Intoxicating Som to Indra. Indra also buried the head of the rowdy Namuchi and saved the life of a sage named Nimi, the son of Sai, while sleeping, and also provided him with wealth, food and welfare. (6)
वि पिप्रो॒रहि॑मायस्य दृ॒ळ्हाः पुरो॑ वज्रि॒ञ्छव॑सा॒ न द॑र्दः । सुदा॑म॒न्तद्रेक्णो॑ अप्रमृ॒ष्यमृ॒जिश्व॑ने दा॒त्रं दा॒शुषे॑ दाः ॥ (७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे वज्रधारी इंद्र! तुमने अधिक माया वाले पिप्रु असुर के दृढ़ नगरों को अपने बल द्वारा तोड़ा था. हे शोभन दान वाले इंद्र! तुमने हव्य देने वाले ऋजिश्वा नामक राजा को बाधारहित धन दिया था. (७)
EN English Translation
O thunderbolt Indra! You had broken the fortified cities of the more Maya-dominated Pipru asura by your own force. O Indra with shobhan daan! You gave unhindered money to a king named Rijiju, who gave the hawdaar. (7)
स वे॑त॒सुं दश॑मायं॒ दशो॑णिं॒ तूतु॑जि॒मिन्द्रः॑ स्वभि॒ष्टिसु॑म्नः । आ तुग्रं॒ शश्व॒दिभं॒ द्योत॑नाय मा॒तुर्न सी॒मुप॑ सृजा इ॒यध्यै॑ ॥ (८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
मनचाहा सुख देने वाले इंद्र ने अति धनी वेतसु, दशोणि, तूलुजि, तुग्र एवं इभ नामक असुरों को द्योतन राजा के समीप जाने को इस प्रकार विवश कर दिया था, जिस प्रकार पुत्र माता के पास जाने को विवश होता है. (८)
EN English Translation
Indra, who gave the desired happiness, had forced the asuras named Vetsu, Dashoni, Tuluji, Tugrah and Ibha to go near the Dinotan king in such a way that the son is forced to go to the mother. (8)
स ईं॒ स्पृधो॑ वनते॒ अप्र॑तीतो॒ बिभ्र॒द्वज्रं॑ वृत्र॒हणं॒ गभ॑स्तौ । तिष्ठ॒द्धरी॒ अध्यस्ते॑व॒ गर्ते॑ वचो॒युजा॑ वहत॒ इन्द्र॑मृ॒ष्वम् ॥ (९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
शत्रुओं द्वारा अपराजित इंद्र अपने हाथ में शत्रुमारक वज्र को धारण करके शत्रुओं का हनन करते हैं. शूर जिस प्रकार रथ में बैठता है, उसी प्रकार इंद्र अपने घोड़ों पर बैठते हैं. केवल वचन द्वारा चलने वाले वे घोड़े इंद्र को ढोवें. (९)
EN English Translation
Indra, who is undefeated by the enemies, abuses the enemies by holding the enemy-struck vajra in his hand. Just as the shur sits in the chariot, Indra sits on his horses. Let those horses that walk only by the word carry Indra. (9)
स॒नेम॒ तेऽव॑सा॒ नव्य॑ इन्द्र॒ प्र पू॒रवः॑ स्तवन्त ए॒ना य॒ज्ञैः । स॒प्त यत्पुरः॒ शर्म॒ शार॑दी॒र्दर्द्धन्दासीः॑ पुरु॒कुत्सा॑य॒ शिक्ष॑न् ॥ (१०)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! तुम्हारी रक्षा के कारण हम नवीन धन का उपभोग करते हैं. स्तोता लोग इन स्तोत्रों वाले यज्ञा में तुम्हारी स्तुति करते हैं. तुमने यज्ञकर्म में बाधा डालने वाली शत्रु प्रजाओं को मारकर पुरुकुत्स राजा को धन दिया. तुमने शरत असुर के सात नगरों को वज्र द्वारा तोड़ा था. (१०)
EN English Translation
O Indra! Because of your defense we consume new wealth. The Stotas praise you in the yajna with these hymns. You gave money to the Purukutsa king by killing the enemy people who obstructed the yajnakarma. You broke the seven cities of Sharat Asuras by thunderbolt. (10)
त्वं वृ॒ध इ॑न्द्र पू॒र्व्यो भू॑र्वरिव॒स्यन्नु॒शने॑ का॒व्याय॑ । परा॒ नव॑वास्त्वमनु॒देयं॑ म॒हे पि॒त्रे द॑दाथ॒ स्वं नपा॑तम् ॥ (११)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! प्राचीनकाल में तुमने कविपुत्र उशना को धन देने की इच्छा से स्तोताओं को बढ़ाया था एवं नववास्त्व नामक असुर को मारकर शत्रुओं द्वारा पकड़े हुए पुत्र को उशना के पास पहुंचाया (११)
EN English Translation
O Indra! In ancient times, you raised the stothas with the desire to give money to the poet's son Ushana, and killed the asura named Navavasta and brought the son, caught by the enemies, to Ushana (11)
त्वं धुनि॑रिन्द्र॒ धुनि॑मतीरृ॒णोर॒पः सी॒रा न स्रव॑न्तीः । प्र यत्स॑मु॒द्रमति॑ शूर॒ पर्षि॑ पा॒रया॑ तु॒र्वशं॒ यदुं॑ स्व॒स्ति ॥ (१२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! तुम शत्रुओं को कंपाने वाले हो. तुमने ध्वनि नामक असुर द्वारा रोकी हुई नदियों को प्रवाहित बनाया. हे शूर इंद्र! जब तुम समुद्र लांघकर पार जाते हो, तब तुम यदु और तुर्वसु को सागर पार कराते हो. (१२)
EN English Translation
O Indra! You're going to shake enemies. You made the rivers blocked by the asura called Sound flow. O Shur Indra! When you cross the sea, you make Yadu and Turvasu cross the sea. (12)
तव॑ ह॒ त्यदि॑न्द्र॒ विश्व॑मा॒जौ स॒स्तो धुनी॒चुमु॑री॒ या ह॒ सिष्व॑प् । दी॒दय॒दित्तुभ्यं॒ सोमे॑भिः सु॒न्वन्द॒भीति॑रि॒ध्मभृ॑तिः प॒क्थ्य१॒॑र्कैः ॥ (१३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! संग्राम में तुम्हारे ही कार्य प्रसिद्ध हैं. संग्राम में तुमने धुनि एवं चुमुरि नामक असुरों को सुलाया था. समिधाएं एकत्र करने वाले तथा इव्यान्न पकाने वाले दभीति राजा ने सोमरस निचोड़कर तुम्हें तेजस्वी बनाया था. (१३)
EN English Translation
O Indra! Your own works in the struggle are famous. In the struggle, you put the asuras named Dhuni and Chumuri to sleep. Dabhiti Raja, who collected the samidahas and cooked the ivyan, squeezed the Somras and made you bright. (13)
