सं॒व॒त्स॒रं श॑शया॒ना ब्रा॑ह्म॒णा व्र॑तचा॒रिणः॑ । वाचं॑ प॒र्जन्य॑जिन्वितां॒ प्र म॒ण्डूका॑ अवादिषुः ॥ (१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
मेंढक व्रत करने वाले स्तोता की तरह एक वर्ष तक सोने के बाद बादलों के प्रति प्रसन्रताकारक वाणी बोलते हैं. (१)
EN English Translation
Frogs speak a pleasing voice to the clouds after sleeping for a year like a hymn. (1)
दि॒व्या आपो॑ अ॒भि यदे॑न॒माय॒न्दृतिं॒ न शुष्कं॑ सर॒सी शया॑नम् । गवा॒मह॒ न मा॒युर्व॒त्सिनी॑नां म॒ण्डूका॑नां व॒ग्नुरत्रा॒ समे॑ति ॥ (२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
मेंढक सूखे चमड़े के समान तालाब में सोए हुए थे. स्वर्ग का जल जब उन पर बरसता है, तब वे बछड़े वाली गायों के समान शब्द करने लगते हैं. (२)
EN English Translation
The frogs were sleeping in a pond like dry leather. When the water of heaven rains on them, they begin to say the same words as the calf cows. (2)
यदी॑मेनाँ उश॒तो अ॒भ्यव॑र्षीत्तृ॒ष्याव॑तः प्रा॒वृष्याग॑तायाम् । अ॒ख्ख॒ली॒कृत्या॑ पि॒तरं॒ न पु॒त्रो अ॒न्यो अ॒न्यमुप॒ वद॑न्तमेति ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
वर्षा ऋतु आने पर जब पर्जन्य अभिलाषा करने वाले एवं प्यासे मेंढकों पर जल बरसाते हैं, उस समय मेंढक 'अख्खल' शब्द करते हुए एक-दूसरे के पास इस प्रकार जाते हैं, जिस प्रकार खिलखिलाता हुआ बालक पिता के पास जाता है. (३)
EN English Translation
When the rainy season arrives, when water is showered on the thirsty frogs, frogs go to each other with the word 'akkhal' in such a way that the smiling child goes to the father. (3)
अ॒न्यो अ॒न्यमनु॑ गृभ्णात्येनोर॒पां प्र॑स॒र्गे यदम॑न्दिषाताम् । म॒ण्डूको॒ यद॒भिवृ॑ष्टः॒ कनि॑ष्क॒न्पृश्निः॑ सम्पृ॒ङ्क्ते हरि॑तेन॒ वाच॑म् ॥ (४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जल बरसने के समय दो प्रकार के मेंढक प्रसन्न होते हैं एवं वर्षा के जल से भीगकर लंबी छलांगें लगाते हैं. भूरे रंग का मेंढक हरे रंग वाले मेंढकों के साथ अपना स्वर मिलाता है. उस समय एक मेंढक दूसरे पर अनुग्रह करता है. (४)
EN English Translation
At the time of water raining, two types of frogs are happy and take long jumps by getting drenched in rain water. The brown frog mixes its tone with the green frogs. At that time one frog does grace over the other. (4)
यदे॑षाम॒न्यो अ॒न्यस्य॒ वाचं॑ शा॒क्तस्ये॑व॒ वद॑ति॒ शिक्ष॑माणः । सर्वं॒ तदे॑षां स॒मृधे॑व॒ पर्व॒ यत्सु॒वाचो॒ वद॑थ॒नाध्य॒प्सु ॥ (५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जब एक मेंढक दूसरे के शब्द का इस तरह अनुकरण करता है, जिस तरह शिष्य गुरु के शब्द दोहराता है एवं जल के ऊपर उछलते हुए सब मेंढक शब्द करते हैं. हे मेंढको! उस समय तुम्हारे शरीर के सभी जोड़ ठीक हो जाते हैं. (५)
EN English Translation
When one frog imitates the other's word in such a way, the disciple repeats the guru's words and all the frogs jumping over the water do the words. O frogs! At that time all the joints of your body are healed. (5)
गोमा॑यु॒रेको॑ अ॒जमा॑यु॒रेकः॒ पृश्नि॒रेको॒ हरि॑त॒ एक॑ एषाम् । स॒मा॒नं नाम॒ बिभ्र॑तो॒ विरू॑पाः पुरु॒त्रा वाचं॑ पिपिशु॒र्वद॑न्तः ॥ (६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
मेंढकों में से कोई गाय की तरह बोलता है और कोई बकरी की तरह. एक का रंग भूरा होता है और दूसरे का हरा. एक नाम धारण करते हुए सब भिन्न रूप वाले होते हैं. मेंढक भिन्नभिन्न प्रकार के शब्द करते हुए प्रकट होते हैं (६)
EN English Translation
Some of the frogs speak like a cow and some speaks like a goat. One is brown in colour and the other is green. Holding one name, all are of a different form. Frogs appear to say different kinds of words (6)
ब्रा॒ह्म॒णासो॑ अतिरा॒त्रे न सोमे॒ सरो॒ न पू॒र्णम॒भितो॒ वद॑न्तः । सं॒व॒त्स॒रस्य॒ तदहः॒ परि॑ ष्ठ॒ यन्म॑ण्डूकाः प्रावृ॒षीणं॑ ब॒भूव॑ ॥ (७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे मेंढको! जिस दिन अधिक वर्षा हो, उस दिन तुम इस प्रकार शब्द करते हुए तालाब में चारों ओर घूमो, जिस प्रकार अतिरात्र नामक यज्ञ में ब्राहमण सोमरस के चारों आर मंत्र पढ़ते हैं. (७)
EN English Translation
O frogs! On the day when it rains more, walk around the pond with the words like this, just as in the yagna called Atiratra, brahmins recite the mantras around the Somras. (7)
ब्रा॒ह्म॒णासः॑ सो॒मिनो॒ वाच॑मक्रत॒ ब्रह्म॑ कृ॒ण्वन्तः॑ परिवत्स॒रीण॑म् । अ॒ध्व॒र्यवो॑ घ॒र्मिणः॑ सिष्विदा॒ना आ॒विर्भ॑वन्ति॒ गुह्या॒ न के चि॑त् ॥ (८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
ये मेंढक उसी प्रकार बोलते हैं, जिस प्रकार सोमरस धारण करने वाले स्तोता वार्षिक स्तुति करते है. प्रवर्ग का आचरण करने वाले ऋत्विजों के समान धूप से गीले शरीर वाले एवं बिलों में छिपे हुए मेंढक प्रकट होते हैं. (८)
EN English Translation
These frogs speak in the same way that the hymns holding the Somras give annual praise. Like the ritwijas who conduct the class, the frogs appear to be wet with sun and hidden in the burrows. (8)
दे॒वहि॑तिं जुगुपुर्द्वाद॒शस्य॑ ऋ॒तुं नरो॒ न प्र मि॑नन्त्ये॒ते । सं॒व॒त्स॒रे प्रा॒वृष्याग॑तायां त॒प्ता घ॒र्मा अ॑श्नुवते विस॒र्गम् ॥ (९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
नेताओं के समान ये मेंढक देवनिर्मित नियमों का पालन करते हैं तथा बारह महीनों के रूप में आने वाली ऋतुओं को नष्ट नहीं करते. एक वर्ष बीतने पर जब वर्षा आती है तो गरमी के ताप से दुःखी मेंढक गड्ढों से बाहर निकलते हैं. (९)
EN English Translation
Like leaders, these frogs follow god-made rules and do not destroy the seasons that come as early as twelve months. When the rain comes after a year, the frogs, who are sad by the heat of the heat, come out of the pits. (9)
गोमा॑युरदाद॒जमा॑युरदा॒त्पृश्नि॑रदा॒द्धरि॑तो नो॒ वसू॑नि । गवां॑ म॒ण्डूका॒ दद॑तः श॒तानि॑ सहस्रसा॒वे प्र ति॑रन्त॒ आयुः॑ ॥ (१०)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
गाय की तरह बोलने वाला, बकरी की तरह बोलने वाला, भूरे रंग का एवं हरे रंग का मेंढक हमें सपंत्ति दे. हजारों ओषधियों को उत्पन्न करने वाली वषऋतु में मेंढक सैकड़ों गाएं देते हुए हमारी आयुवृद्धि करें. (१०)
EN English Translation
Give us the one who speaks like a cow, the one who speaks like a goat, the brown and green frog. In the year that produces thousands of herbs, frogs give us hundreds of cows and give us life. (10)
