इन्द्रा॑सोमा॒ तप॑तं॒ रक्ष॑ उ॒ब्जतं॒ न्य॑र्पयतं वृषणा तमो॒वृधः॑ । परा॑ शृणीतम॒चितो॒ न्यो॑षतं ह॒तं नु॒देथां॒ नि शि॑शीतम॒त्रिणः॑ ॥ (१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र तथा सोम! तुम राक्षसों को कष्ट दो तथा उनको नष्ट करो. हे अभिलाषापूरको! तुम अंधकार में बढ़ने वाले राक्षसों को नीचे गिराओ. तुम अज्ञानी राक्षसों को परांगमुख करके नष्ट करो, जलाओ, मारो, फेंक दो एवं मनुष्यभक्षी राक्षसों को घायल करो. (१)
EN English Translation
O Indra and Som! You torment the demons and destroy them. That's all you want! You bring down the monsters growing in darkness. You destroy the ignorant demons, burn them, kill them, throw them away, and injure the man-eating monsters. (1)
इन्द्रा॑सोमा॒ सम॒घशं॑सम॒भ्य१॒॑घं तपु॑र्ययस्तु च॒रुर॑ग्नि॒वाँ इ॑व । ब्र॒ह्म॒द्विषे॑ क्र॒व्यादे॑ घो॒रच॑क्षसे॒ द्वेषो॑ धत्तमनवा॒यं कि॑मी॒दिने॑ ॥ (२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र एवं सोम! तुम पाप की प्रशंसा करने वाले राक्षसों को भली प्रकार नष्ट करो. तुम अपने तेज द्वारा संतप्त राक्षसों को इस प्रकार समाप्त कर दो, जिस प्रकार अन्ने में डाला हुआ चरु लुप्त हो जाता है. ब्राहमणों से द्वेष रखने वाले, मांसभक्षक, डरावने नेत्रों वाले एवं कठोरभाषी राक्षसों के प्रति ऐसा व्यवहार करो, जिससे उनके प्रति तुम्हारा सदा द्वेष रहे. (२)
EN English Translation
O Indra and Mon! You must destroy the demons who praise sin well. You put an end to the demons infected by your speed in such a way that the charu poured into the ann disappears. Treat the Brahmins with malice, the meat-eater, the scary-eyed, and the harsh-spoken demons in such a way that you will always have an antipathy towards them. (2)
इन्द्रा॑सोमा दु॒ष्कृतो॑ व॒व्रे अ॒न्तर॑नारम्भ॒णे तम॑सि॒ प्र वि॑ध्यतम् । यथा॒ नातः॒ पुन॒रेक॑श्च॒नोदय॒त्तद्वा॑मस्तु॒ सह॑से मन्यु॒मच्छवः॑ ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र एवं सोम! तुम बुरे कर्म करने वाले राक्षसों को वारक मरुस्थल एवं आश्रयहीन अंधकार में फेंक कर मारो, जिससे एक भी राक्षस जीवित न उठ सके. क्रोधयुक्त तुम्हारा वह प्रसिद्ध बल राक्षसों को दबाने में समर्थ हो. (३)
EN English Translation
O Indra and Mon! You kill the demons who do evil deeds by throwing them into the wark desert and shelterless darkness, so that not a single monster can come alive. That famous force of angry yours be able to suppress the demons. (3)
इन्द्रा॑सोमा व॒र्तय॑तं दि॒वो व॒धं सं पृ॑थि॒व्या अ॒घशं॑साय॒ तर्ह॑णम् । उत्त॑क्षतं स्व॒र्यं१॒॑ पर्व॑तेभ्यो॒ येन॒ रक्षो॑ वावृधा॒नं नि॒जूर्व॑थः ॥ (४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र एवं सोम! तुम अंतरिक्ष से हननसाधन आयुध उत्पन्न करो. पापों की प्रशंसा करने वाले के लिए तुम धरती से आयुध उत्पन्न करो. तुम बादलों से उस घातक वज्र को उत्पन्न करो जिसने बढ़े हुए राक्षस को नष्ट किया था. (४)
EN English Translation
O Indra and Mon! You generate the contravenive armament from space. For those who praise sins, you create an armament from the earth. You generate from the clouds the deadly thunderbolt that destroyed the enlarged monster. (4)
इन्द्रा॑सोमा व॒र्तय॑तं दि॒वस्पर्य॑ग्नित॒प्तेभि॑र्यु॒वमश्म॑हन्मभिः । तपु॑र्वधेभिर॒जरे॑भिर॒त्रिणो॒ नि पर्शा॑ने विध्यतं॒ यन्तु॑ निस्व॒रम् ॥ (५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र एवं सोम! अंतरिक्ष के चारों ओर आयुधों को भेजो. तुम अग्नि के द्वारा तपाए हुए, संतापदायक, प्रहार वाले, जरारहित एवं पत्थरों से निर्मित हननसाधन आयुधों द्वारा राक्षसों के आसपास के स्थान विदीर्ण करो. इससे वे राक्षस चुपचाप भाग जाएंगे. (५)
EN English Translation
O Indra and Mon! Send armaments around the space. You may destroy the places around the demons by agni, torturous, attacked, unarmed and made of stones by the weapons of the destruction. This will cause those monsters to flee silently. (5)
इन्द्रा॑सोमा॒ परि॑ वां भूतु वि॒श्वत॑ इ॒यं म॒तिः क॒क्ष्याश्वे॑व वा॒जिना॑ । यां वां॒ होत्रां॑ परिहि॒नोमि॑ मे॒धये॒मा ब्रह्मा॑णि नृ॒पती॑व जिन्वतम् ॥ (६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र एवं सोम! जिस प्रकार दोनों ओर बंधी हुई रस्सी घोड़े को बांधती है, उसी प्रकार यह स्तुति तुम्हें प्रभावित करे. मैं बुद्धिबल से यह स्तुति तुम्हारे पास भेज रहा हूं. राजा जिस प्रकार धन से मांगने वाले की इच्छा पूरी करता है, उसी प्रकार तुम इस स्तुति को सफल बनाओ. (६)
EN English Translation
O Indra and Mon! Just as a rope tied on both sides binds a horse, so may this praise impress you. I am sending this praise to you wisely. Just as the king fulfills the will of the one who asks for wealth, so do you make this praise a success. (6)
प्रति॑ स्मरेथां तु॒जय॑द्भि॒रेवै॑र्ह॒तं द्रु॒हो र॒क्षसो॑ भङ्गु॒राव॑तः । इन्द्रा॑सोमा दु॒ष्कृते॒ मा सु॒गं भू॒द्यो नः॑ क॒दा चि॑दभि॒दास॑ति द्रु॒हा ॥ (७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र एवं सोम! तुम शीघ्र चलने वाले घोड़ों की सहायता से आओ. तुम द्रोही एवं तोड़फोड़ करने वाले राक्षसों को नष्ट करो. दुष्कर्म वाले राक्षस को सुख प्राप्त न हो. वह द्रोहभावना के कारण हमें कभी न कभी मार सकता है. (७)
EN English Translation
O Indra and Mon! You come with the help of quick-moving horses. You destroy the evil and sabotaging monsters. The demon of rape should not get happiness. He can kill us at some point of time because of malice. (7)
यो मा॒ पाके॑न॒ मन॑सा॒ चर॑न्तमभि॒चष्टे॒ अनृ॑तेभि॒र्वचो॑भिः । आप॑ इव का॒शिना॒ संगृ॑भीता॒ अस॑न्न॒स्त्वास॑त इन्द्र व॒क्ता ॥ (८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! जो राक्षस मुझ सच्चे मन एवं आचरण वाले को असत्यवादी कहता है, वह झूठ बोलने वाला राक्षस इस प्रकार नष्ट हो जाए, जिस प्रकार मुट्ठी में बंद पानी समाप्त हो जाता है. (८)
EN English Translation
O Indra! The demon who calls me a true-minded man and a liar, the false demon will be destroyed in such a way that the water in the fist ceases. (8)
ये पा॑कशं॒सं वि॒हर॑न्त॒ एवै॒र्ये वा॑ भ॒द्रं दू॒षय॑न्ति स्व॒धाभिः॑ । अह॑ये वा॒ तान्प्र॒ददा॑तु॒ सोम॒ आ वा॑ दधातु॒ निरृ॑तेरु॒पस्थे॑ ॥ (९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जो राक्षस मुझ सत्यवादी को अपने स्वार्थो के कारण बदनाम करते हैं एवं जो बली राक्षस मुझ भले आदमी को दोषी ठहराते हैं, सोमदेव उन्हें सांप को दे दें अथवा पाप देव की गोद में धारण करें. (९)
EN English Translation
The demons who defame me truthful because of their selfish interests and the sacrificial demons who blame me to the good man, Somdev give them to the snake or hold the sin in the lap of god. (9)
यो नो॒ रसं॒ दिप्स॑ति पि॒त्वो अ॑ग्ने॒ यो अश्वा॑नां॒ यो गवां॒ यस्त॒नूना॑म् । रि॒पुः स्ते॒नः स्ते॑य॒कृद्द॒भ्रमे॑तु॒ नि ष ही॑यतां त॒न्वा॒३॒॑ तना॑ च ॥ (१०)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अग्नि! जो राक्षस हमारे अन्न का रस नष्ट करना चाहता है, जो हमारी गायों, घोड़ों एवं संतानों के सार समाप्त करना चाहता है, वह शत्रु, चोर एवं धन छीनने वाला नाश को प्राप्त हो. वह अपने शरीर एवं संतान दोनों से नाश को प्राप्त हो. (१०)
EN English Translation
O agni! The demon who wants to destroy the juice of our food, who wants to destroy the essence of our cows, horses and children, that enemy, thief and wealth snatcher should be destroyed. He attains destruction from both his body and children. (10)
प॒रः सो अ॑स्तु त॒न्वा॒३॒॑ तना॑ च ति॒स्रः पृ॑थि॒वीर॒धो अ॑स्तु॒ विश्वाः॑ । प्रति॑ शुष्यतु॒ यशो॑ अस्य देवा॒ यो नो॒ दिवा॒ दिप्स॑ति॒ यश्च॒ नक्त॑म् ॥ (११)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
राक्षस शरीर एवं संतान दोनों से हीन हो. वह तीनों लोकों के नीचे चला जाए. हे देवो! जो राक्षस हमें रात-दिन मारना चाहता है, उसका यश सूख जाए. (११)
EN English Translation
The monster is inferior to both the body and the offspring. He should go under the three realms. Oh, God! May the demon who wants to kill us day and night wither his glory. (11)
सु॒वि॒ज्ञा॒नं चि॑कि॒तुषे॒ जना॑य॒ सच्चास॑च्च॒ वच॑सी पस्पृधाते । तयो॒र्यत्स॒त्यं य॑त॒रदृजी॑य॒स्तदित्सोमो॑ऽवति॒ हन्त्यास॑त् ॥ (१२)

विद्वान् यह बात सरलता से जान सकता है कि सत्य एवं असत्य बातों में परस्परविरोध होता है, उन में सोम सत्य एवं सरल बात का पालन करते हैं एवं असत्य बात का नाश करते हैं. (१२)
EN English Translation
The scholar can easily know that there is a contradiction between truth and untruth, in them, Soma follows the truth and the simple thing and destroys the untruth. (12)
न वा उ॒ सोमो॑ वृजि॒नं हि॑नोति॒ न क्ष॒त्रियं॑ मिथु॒या धा॒रय॑न्तम् । हन्ति॒ रक्षो॒ हन्त्यास॒द्वद॑न्तमु॒भाविन्द्र॑स्य॒ प्रसि॑तौ शयाते ॥ (१३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
पापी एवं झूठ बोलने वाला शक्तिशाली हो, तब भी सोम उसे नहीं छोड़ते. वे असत्यवादी एवं राक्षस को मारते हैं. ये दोनों मरकर इंद्र के बंधन में सोते हैं. (१३)
EN English Translation
Even if the sinner and the liar is powerful, Mon does not leave him. They kill the untrust and the monster. Both of them die and sleep in the bond of Indra. (13)
यदि॑ वा॒हमनृ॑तदेव॒ आस॒ मोघं॑ वा दे॒वाँ अ॑प्यू॒हे अ॑ग्ने । किम॒स्मभ्यं॑ जातवेदो हृणीषे द्रोघ॒वाच॑स्ते निरृ॒थं स॑चन्ताम् ॥ (१४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अग्नि! वया मैं झूठे देवों की भक्ति करता हूं अथवा फल न देने वाले देवों का उपासक हूं? फिर तुम मुझसे क्यों कद्ध हो? झूठ बोलने वाले ही तुम्हारी हिंसा विशेषरूप से प्राप्त करें. (१४)
EN English Translation
O agni! Do I worship false gods or am I a worshiper of the gods who do not give fruit? Then why are you afraid of me? Only those who lie get your violence in particular. (14)
अ॒द्या मु॑रीय॒ यदि॑ यातु॒धानो॒ अस्मि॒ यदि॒ वायु॑स्त॒तप॒ पूरु॑षस्य । अधा॒ स वी॒रैर्द॒शभि॒र्वि यू॑या॒ यो मा॒ मोघं॒ यातु॑धा॒नेत्याह॑ ॥ (१५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
मैं वसिष्ठ यदि राक्षस होऊं अथवा मैं पुरुषों का जीवन नष्ट करता होऊं तो मैं आज ही मर जाउं. नहीं तो जो मुझे व्यर्थ ही राक्षस कहकर पुकारता है, उसके दस वीर पुत्र मर जावें. (१५)
EN English Translation
If I am a demon or I destroy the lives of men, I will die today. Otherwise, the ten brave sons of the one who calls me a demon in vain will die. (15)
यो माया॑तुं॒ यातु॑धा॒नेत्याह॒ यो वा॑ र॒क्षाः शुचि॑र॒स्मीत्याह॑ । इन्द्र॒स्तं ह॑न्तु मह॒ता व॒धेन॒ विश्व॑स्य ज॒न्तोर॑ध॒मस्प॑दीष्ट ॥ (१६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जो राक्षस मुझ अराक्षस को राक्षस कहता है एवं स्वयं को पवित्र बतलाता है, उसे इंद्र अपने महान् आयुधों द्वारा नष्ट कर दें. वह सभी प्राणियों की अपेक्षा अधम बनें. (१६)
EN English Translation
Let indra destroy the demon who calls me araakshas a demon and sanctifies himself. He should be inferior to all beings. (16)
प्र या जिगा॑ति ख॒र्गले॑व॒ नक्त॒मप॑ द्रु॒हा त॒न्वं१॒॑ गूह॑माना । व॒व्राँ अ॑न॒न्ताँ अव॒ सा प॑दीष्ट॒ ग्रावा॑णो घ्नन्तु र॒क्षस॑ उप॒ब्दैः ॥ (१७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जो राक्षस रात के समय उल्लू के समान अपना शरीर छिपाकर चलता है, वह नीचे को मुंह करके गहरे गड्ढे में गिरे. सोमरस कुचलने के पत्थर भी अपने शब्दों से उसे नष्ट करें. (१७)
EN English Translation
The monster who hides his body like an owl at night, he fell into the deep pit by mouthing down. The stones of crushing the somras also destroy him with his words. (17)
वि ति॑ष्ठध्वं मरुतो वि॒क्ष्वि१॒॑च्छत॑ गृभा॒यत॑ र॒क्षसः॒ सं पि॑नष्टन । वयो॒ ये भू॒त्वी प॒तय॑न्ति न॒क्तभि॒र्ये वा॒ रिपो॑ दधि॒रे दे॒वे अ॑ध्व॒रे ॥ (१८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे मरुतो! तुम प्रजाओं में अनेक प्रकार से स्थित बनो. जो राक्षस रात में पक्षी बनकर नीचे उतरते हैं अथवा जो प्रज्वलित यज्ञ में बाधा डालते हैं, उन्हें अपनी इच्छानुसार पकड़ो एवं पीस डालो. (१८)
EN English Translation
O Maruto! You become located in many ways among the people. The demons who come down as birds at night or who obstruct the ignited yagna, hold them as per your wish and grind them. (18)
प्र व॑र्तय दि॒वो अश्मा॑नमिन्द्र॒ सोम॑शितं मघव॒न्सं शि॑शाधि । प्राक्ता॒दपा॑क्तादध॒रादुद॑क्ताद॒भि ज॑हि र॒क्षसः॒ पर्व॑तेन ॥ (१९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! अंतरिक्ष से अपना वज्र चलाओ. हे धनस्वामी इंद्र! सोमरस के कारण शीघ्र कार्य करने वाले यजमान को शुद्ध करो. तुम अपने पर्वो वाले वज्र द्वारा पूर्व, पश्चिम, दक्षिण एवं उत्तर में वर्तमान राक्षसों को नष्ट करो. (१९)
EN English Translation
O Indra! Drive your thunderbolt from space. O Dhanaswami Indra! Purify the host who acts quickly because of somras. You destroy the present demons in the east, west, south and north by the thunderbolt of your festivals. (19)
ए॒त उ॒ त्ये प॑तयन्ति॒ श्वया॑तव॒ इन्द्रं॑ दिप्सन्ति दि॒प्सवोऽदा॑भ्यम् । शिशी॑ते श॒क्रः पिशु॑नेभ्यो व॒धं नू॒नं सृ॑जद॒शनिं॑ यातु॒मद्भ्यः॑ ॥ (२०)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जो राक्षस कुत्तों के समान झपटते हैं एवं जो अहिंसनीय इंद्र की हिंसा करना चाहते हैं, इंद्र उन कपटियों को मारने के लिए अपना वज्र तेज करते हैं. इंद्र उन राक्षसों के ऊपर अपना वज्र शीघ्र फेंकें. (२०)
EN English Translation
Those who swoop like monster dogs and who want to do violence to the non-violent Indra, Indra intensifies his thunderbolt to kill those hypocrites. Indra throw his thunderbolt quickly at those demons. (20)
इन्द्रो॑ यातू॒नाम॑भवत्पराश॒रो ह॑वि॒र्मथी॑नाम॒भ्या॒३॒॑विवा॑सताम् । अ॒भीदु॑ श॒क्रः प॑र॒शुर्यथा॒ वनं॒ पात्रे॑व भि॒न्दन्स॒त ए॑ति र॒क्षसः॑ ॥ (२१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
इंद्र हिंसकों की भी हिंसा करने वाले हैं. जिस प्रकार कुल्हाड़ा वनों को काटता है एवं हथौड़ा बरतनों को पीटता है, उसी प्रकार राक्षसों को नष्ट करते हुए इंद्र हव्य-मंथन करने वाले एवं अपने सम्मुख उपस्थित भक्तों की रक्षा के लिए आते हैं. (२१)
EN English Translation
Indra is also going to commit violence against the violent. Just as the axe cuts down the forests and the hammer beats the utensils, so in the same way, destroying the demons, Indra comes to the rescue of the devotees who are in front of him and to do the havan-manthan and present before him. (21)
उलू॑कयातुं शुशु॒लूक॑यातुं ज॒हि श्वया॑तुमु॒त कोक॑यातुम् । सु॒प॒र्णया॑तुमु॒त गृध्र॑यातुं दृ॒षदे॑व॒ प्र मृ॑ण॒ रक्ष॑ इन्द्र ॥ (२२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! जो राक्षस उल्लुओं के समान रात में लोगों की हिंसा करते हैं, जो भेड़िया, कुत्ता, चकवा, बाज एवं गिद्ध के समान लोगों की हिंसा करते हैं, उन्हें अपने पाषाणरूपी वज्र द्वारा नष्ट कर दो. (२२)

O Indra! Destroy the demons who do the violence of the people at night like the owls, who do violence to the people like wolves, dogs, chakwa, hawks and vultures, with your stone-like thunderbolt. (22)
मा नो॒ रक्षो॑ अ॒भि न॑ड्यातु॒माव॑ता॒मपो॑च्छतु मिथु॒ना या कि॑मी॒दिना॑ । पृ॒थि॒वी नः॒ पार्थि॑वात्पा॒त्वंह॑सो॒ऽन्तरि॑क्षं दि॒व्यात्पा॑त्व॒स्मान् ॥ (२३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हमें राक्षस न घेरें. कष्ट देने वाले राक्षसों के जोड़े हमसे दूर हों. ये राक्षस कया शब्द कहते हुए चक्कर लगाते हैं? पृथ्वी पार्थिव पाप से हमारी रक्षा करे एवं अंतरिक्ष दिव्य पाप से हमें बचाए. (२३)
EN English Translation
Don't surround us with monsters. Let the pairs of tormenting monsters be away from us. What words do these monsters say? May the earth protect us from earthly sin and save us from space divine sin. (23)
इन्द्र॑ ज॒हि पुमां॑सं यातु॒धान॑मु॒त स्त्रियं॑ मा॒यया॒ शाश॑दानाम् । विग्री॑वासो॒ मूर॑देवा ऋदन्तु॒ मा ते दृ॑श॒न्सूर्य॑मु॒च्चर॑न्तम् ॥ (२४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! नर राक्षस का नाश करो एवं माया द्वारा दूसरों की हिंसा करने वाली मादा राक्षसी को भी नष्ट करो. विनाशरूपी क्रीड़ा करने वाले राक्षस धड़ के रूप में पड़े हों एवं उगते हुए सूर्य को न देख सकें. (२४)
EN English Translation
O Indra! Destroy the male monster and also destroy the female demon who is doing violence to others by maya. The destructive gamers may be lying in the form of a torso and cannot see the rising sun. (24)
प्रति॑ चक्ष्व॒ वि च॒क्ष्वेन्द्र॑श्च सोम जागृतम् । रक्षो॑भ्यो व॒धम॑स्यतम॒शनिं॑ यातु॒मद्भ्यः॑ ॥ (२५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे सोम! तुम एवं इंद्र प्रत्येक को भांति-भांति से देखो एवं जागो. तुम राक्षसों के ऊपर अपना वज्ररूप आयुध फेंको. (२५)
EN English Translation
Hey Mon! Look at each of you and Indra in different ways and wake up. You throw your thunderbolt armament on the demons. (25)
