य॒ज्ञाय॑ज्ञा वः सम॒ना तु॑तु॒र्वणि॒र्धियं॑धियं वो देव॒या उ॑ दधिध्वे । आ वो॒ऽर्वाचः॑ सुवि॒ताय॒ रोद॑स्योर्म॒हे व॑वृत्या॒मव॑से सुवृ॒क्तिभिः॑ ॥ (१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे मरुतो! सभी यज्ञों के प्रति तुम्हारी समान भावना जान पड़ती है. तुम अपने जल- प्रदान आदि सारे कमो को देवों को प्राप्त कराने के लिए धारण करते हो. मैं तुम्हें महान् स्तोत्र के द्वारा अपने सामने इसलिए बुलाता हूं कि तुम धरती और आकाश की भली प्रकार रक्षा कर सको. (१)
EN English Translation
O Maruto! You have the same feeling towards all the yagnas. You hold all your water-providings, etc., to get the gods. I call you before Me through the great Psalms so that you may well protect the earth and the sky. (1)
व॒व्रासो॒ न ये स्व॒जाः स्वत॑वस॒ इषं॒ स्व॑रभि॒जाय॑न्त॒ धूत॑यः । स॒ह॒स्रिया॑सो अ॒पां नोर्मय॑ आ॒सा गावो॒ वन्द्या॑सो॒ नोक्षणः॑ ॥ (२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
रूपसंपन्न, स्वयं उत्पन्न एवं कंपनशील मरुद्गण अन्न एवं स्वर्ग आदि के साधन बनकर प्रकट होते हैं. समुद्र की लहरों के समान हजारों उत्तम दुधारू गाएं जिस प्रकार दूध देती हैं, उसी प्रकार वे जल बरसाते हैं. (२)
EN English Translation
The self-sufficient, self-generated and vibrating deserts appear as instruments of food and heaven, etc. Like the waves of the sea, thousands of good milch cows sing milk, just as they give milk, so they rain water. (2)
सोमा॑सो॒ न ये सु॒तास्तृ॒प्तांश॑वो हृ॒त्सु पी॒तासो॑ दु॒वसो॒ नास॑ते । ऐषा॒मंसे॑षु र॒म्भिणी॑व रारभे॒ हस्ते॑षु खा॒दिश्च॑ कृ॒तिश्च॒ सं द॑धे ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जिस प्रकार सोमलता पहले जल से सींची जाने पर बढ़ती है एवं बाद में रस निचोड़कर पीने से सेविका के समान मन को आनंद देती है, उसी प्रकार मरुद्गण भी लोगों को प्रसन्न करते हैं. स्त्री के समान आयुध इनके कंधों को चूमते हैं एवं इनके हाथों में हस्तत्राण तथा तलवार सुशोभित है. (३)
EN English Translation
Just as somlata grows when it is first irrigated with water and then squeezes the juice and drinks it, giving pleasure to the mind like a sevika, similarly the deserts also make people happy. Like a woman, the armaments kiss their shoulders and their hands adorn the handstrong and sword. (3)
अव॒ स्वयु॑क्ता दि॒व आ वृथा॑ ययु॒रम॑र्त्याः॒ कश॑या चोदत॒ त्मना॑ । अ॒रे॒णव॑स्तुविजा॒ता अ॑चुच्यवुर्दृ॒ळ्हानि॑ चिन्म॒रुतो॒ भ्राज॑दृष्टयः ॥ (४)

मरुद्गण एक-दूसरे से मिले हुए स्वर्ग से नीचे आते हैं. हे मरुतो! अपनी वाणी से हमें प्रेरित करो. तेजस्वी एवं पापरहित मरुद्गण अनेक यज्ञों में जब उपस्थित होते हैं तो स्थिर पर्वत भी कांपने लगते हैं. (४)
EN English Translation
The deserts come down from heaven meeting each other. O Maruto! Inspire us with your voice. When the bright and sinless deserts are present in many yagnas, the still mountains also begin to tremble. (4)
को वो॒ऽन्तर्म॑रुत ऋष्टिविद्युतो॒ रेज॑ति॒ त्मना॒ हन्वे॑व जि॒ह्वया॑ । ध॒न्व॒च्युत॑ इ॒षां न याम॑नि पुरु॒प्रैषा॑ अह॒न्यो॒३॒॑ नैत॑शः ॥ (५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे आयुधधारी मरुतो! जबड़ों को चलाने वाली जीभ के समान तुम्हारे भीतर रहकर तुम्हें कौन चलाता है? अर्थात् कोई नहीं. जल बरसाने वाला बादल जिस प्रकार दिन में चलता है, उसी प्रकार यजमान अन्न प्राप्त करने के लिए तुम्हें चलाता है. (५)
EN English Translation
O warrior Maruto! Who drives you by staying within you like a tongue that runs your jaws? i.e. none. Just as the cloud that rains water moves in the day, so the host drives you to get food. (5)
क्व॑ स्विद॒स्य रज॑सो म॒हस्परं॒ क्वाव॑रं मरुतो॒ यस्मि॑न्नाय॒य । यच्च्या॒वय॑थ विथु॒रेव॒ संहि॑तं॒ व्यद्रि॑णा पतथ त्वे॒षम॑र्ण॒वम् ॥ (६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे मरुतो! उस विशाल वर्षा जल का आदि और अंत कहां है? जिसे बरसाने के लिए तुम जिस समय ढीली घास के समान जल को बिखराते हो, उस समय तेजस्वी बादल को वज्र द्वारा टुकड़े-टुकड़े कर देते हो. (६)
EN English Translation
O Maruto! Where is the beginning and end of that huge rainwater? To rain which you break the water like loose grass, you break the bright cloud to pieces with thunderbolt at that time. (6)
सा॒तिर्न वोऽम॑वती॒ स्व॑र्वती त्वे॒षा विपा॑का मरुतः॒ पिपि॑ष्वती । भ॒द्रा वो॑ रा॒तिः पृ॑ण॒तो न दक्षि॑णा पृथु॒ज्रयी॑ असु॒र्ये॑व॒ जञ्ज॑ती ॥ (७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे मरुतो! तुम्हारे धन के समान ही तुम्हारा दान भी प्रशंसनीय है. इंद्र तुम्हारे दान में सहायता करते हैं. उस में सुख, तेज, फल का परिपाक एवं किसानों का कल्याण है. तुम्हारा दान दाता की दक्षिणा के समान तुरंत फल देने वाला एवं अपनी शक्ति के समान सबको हराने वाला है. (७)
EN English Translation
O Maruto! Just like your wealth, your donation is also praiseworthy. Indra help in your donation. In it is the happiness, the speed, the maturity of the fruit and the welfare of the farmers. Your gift is going to bear fruit immediately like the south of the giver and defeat everyone like your power. (7)
प्रति॑ ष्टोभन्ति॒ सिन्ध॑वः प॒विभ्यो॒ यद॒भ्रियां॒ वाच॑मुदी॒रय॑न्ति । अव॑ स्मयन्त वि॒द्युतः॑ पृथि॒व्यां यदी॑ घृ॒तं म॒रुतः॑ प्रुष्णु॒वन्ति॑ ॥ (८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जिस समय नीचे गिरने वाला जल चलता है, उस समय वज्र के शब्द के समान गर्जन करता है. जब मरुद्गण धरती पर जल बरसाते हैं, उस समय बिजली नीचे की ओर मुंह करके प्रकट हो जाती है. (८)
EN English Translation
At the time when the water falling down moves, it roars like the word of the thunderbolt. When the deserts rain water on the earth, the electricity appears facing downwards. (8)
असू॑त॒ पृश्नि॑र्मह॒ते रणा॑य त्वे॒षम॒यासां॑ म॒रुता॒मनी॑कम् । ते स॑प्स॒रासो॑ऽजनय॒न्ताभ्व॒मादित्स्व॒धामि॑षि॒रां पर्य॑पश्यन् ॥ (९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
पृश्नि ने शीघ्र गति वाले मरुतों के समूह को विशाल युद्ध के लिए जन्म दिया है. समान रूप वाले मरुतों ने जल को उत्पन्न किया. इसके पश्चात् सब लोगों ने अभिलषित अन्न के दर्शन किए. (९)
EN English Translation
The earth has given birth to a group of fast-paced maruts for a great war. Maruts of the same form produced water. After this, all the people saw the desired food. (9)
ए॒ष वः॒ स्तोमो॑ मरुत इ॒यं गीर्मा॑न्दा॒र्यस्य॑ मा॒न्यस्य॑ का॒रोः । एषा या॑सीष्ट त॒न्वे॑ व॒यां वि॒द्यामे॒षं वृ॒जनं॑ जी॒रदा॑नुम् ॥ (१०)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे मरुतो! आदर के योग्य मांदर्य कवि का यह स्तुतिसमूह तुम्हारे लिए है. यह स्तुति तुम्हें इस अभिलाषा से प्राप्त होती है कि स्तुतिकर्तता का शरीर पुष्ट हो. हम भी इस स्तुति द्वारा अन्न, बल एवं दीर्घ-आयु प्राप्त करें. (१०)
EN English Translation
O Maruto! This group of praises of the worthy mandarya poet is for you. This praise comes to you from the desire that the body of praise be strengthened. Let us also gain food, strength and long-life through this praise. (10)
