अ॒स्मा इदु॒ प्र त॒वसे॑ तु॒राय॒ प्रयो॒ न ह॑र्मि॒ स्तोमं॒ माहि॑नाय । ऋची॑षमा॒याध्रि॑गव॒ ओह॒मिन्द्रा॑य॒ ब्रह्मा॑णि रा॒तत॑मा ॥ (१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जिस प्रकार भूखे को अन्न दिया जाता है, उसी प्रकार मैं शक्तिसंपन्न, शीघ्रता करने वाले, गुणों में महान्, स्तुति के अनुकूल व्यक्तित्व वाले एवं अबाधगति इंद्र को वरण करने योग्य स्तुतियां एवं पूर्ववर्ती यजमानों द्वारा अधिक मात्रा में दिया हुआ अन्न भेंट करता हूं. (१)
EN English Translation
Just as food is given to the hungry, so I offer powerful, hastening, great in virtue, a person of praise and an unwavering nature to Indra, to choose praiseworthy praises and a large amount of food given by the former hosts. (1)
अ॒स्मा इदु॒ प्रय॑ इव॒ प्र यं॑सि॒ भरा॑म्याङ्गू॒षं बाधे॑ सुवृ॒क्ति । इन्द्रा॑य हृ॒दा मन॑सा मनी॒षा प्र॒त्नाय॒ पत्ये॒ धियो॑ मर्जयन्त ॥ (२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
मैं इंद्र को अन्न के समान हव्य दान करता हूं तथा शत्रु को पराजित करने में समर्थ स्तुति वचनों का उच्चारण करता हूं. अन्य स्तुतिकर्तता भी उस प्राचीन स्वामी इंद्र के प्रति अंतःकरण, बुद्धि और ज्ञान की सहायता से स्तुतियां करते हैं. (२)
EN English Translation
I donate a havan to Indra like food and utter hymns of praise capable of defeating the enemy. Other eulogies also praise the ancient lord Indra with the help of conscience, wisdom and knowledge. (2)
अ॒स्मा इदु॒ त्यमु॑प॒मं स्व॒र्षां भरा॑म्याङ्गू॒षमा॒स्ये॑न । मंहि॑ष्ठ॒मच्छो॑क्तिभिर्मती॒नां सु॑वृ॒क्तिभिः॑ सू॒रिं वा॑वृ॒धध्यै॑ ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
मैं उन्हीं प्रसिद्ध, उपमान बने हुए, अत्यंत वरणीय, धन के दाता, विद्वान् इंद्र की वृद्धि के निमित्त समर्थ एवं स्वच्छ वचनों वाली स्तुति बोलता हुआ महान् शब्द करता हूं. (३)
EN English Translation
I make great words, speaking of the same famous, upright, humble, highly selective, powerful and clean words for the growth of the scholar Indra, the giver of wealth. (3)
अ॒स्मा इदु॒ स्तोमं॒ सं हि॑नोमि॒ रथं॒ न तष्टे॑व॒ तत्सि॑नाय । गिर॑श्च॒ गिर्वा॑हसे सुवृ॒क्तीन्द्रा॑य विश्वमि॒न्वं मेधि॑राय ॥ (४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जिस प्रकार रथ बनाने वाला रथ के अधिपति के पास रथ ले जाता है, उसी प्रकार मैं भी स्तुति योग्य इंद्र को लक्षित करके प्रशंसावचन प्रेषित करता हूं एवं बुद्धिसंपन्न इंद्र के लिए विश्वव्यापक हव्य का विसर्जन करता हूं. (४)
EN English Translation
Just as the chariot maker takes the chariot to the owner of the chariot, so I also send the praise word targeting the worthy Indra and immerse the world-wide havya for the wise Indra. (4)
अ॒स्मा इदु॒ सप्ति॑मिव श्रव॒स्येन्द्रा॑या॒र्कं जु॒ह्वा॒३॒॑ सम॑ञ्जे । वी॒रं दा॒नौक॑सं व॒न्दध्यै॑ पु॒रां गू॒र्तश्र॑वसं द॒र्माण॑म् ॥ (५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जिस प्रकार अन्नलाभ के लिए जाने का इच्छुक व्यक्ति घोड़ों को रथ में जोड़ता है, उसी प्रकार मैं अन्नलाभ की अभिलाषा से स्तुतिरूपी मंत्र बोलता हूं. मैं उन्हीं वीर, दानपात्र, उत्तम अन्नयुक्त एवं असुरनगरों के विध्वंसकर्त्ता इंद्र की वंदना में लगा हुआ हूं. (५)
EN English Translation
Just as a person who wants to go for annalabh adds horses to the chariot, so I speak the mantra of praise from the desire for annalabh. I am engaged in the worship of indra, the same hero, the daanpatra, the best of the rich and the destroyer of the asuranagaras. (5)
अ॒स्मा इदु॒ त्वष्टा॑ तक्ष॒द्वज्रं॒ स्वप॑स्तमं स्व॒र्यं१॒॑ रणा॑य । वृ॒त्रस्य॑ चिद्वि॒दद्येन॒ मर्म॑ तु॒जन्नीशा॑नस्तुज॒ता कि॑ये॒धाः ॥ (६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
त्वष्टा ने युद्ध के निमित्त इन इंद्र के लिए शोभन कर्म वाला एवं शत्रुओं के प्रति सरलता से फेंका जाने वाला वज्र बनाया था. शत्रुओं की हिंसा करते हुए ऐश्वर्य एवं बल से संपन्न इंद्र ने हनन करने वाले वज्र से वृत्र के मर्म का भेदन किया था. (६)
EN English Translation
For the sake of war, Tatva had made for these Indras a thunderbolt with a virtuous deed and an easy to throw towards the enemies. While committing the violence of the enemies, Indra, endowed with splendor and force, had pierced the essence of the vritra with the violating thunderbolt. (6)
अ॒स्येदु॑ मा॒तुः सव॑नेषु स॒द्यो म॒हः पि॒तुं प॑पि॒वाञ्चार्वन्ना॑ । मु॒षा॒यद्विष्णुः॑ पच॒तं सही॑या॒न्विध्य॑द्वरा॒हं ति॒रो अद्रि॒मस्ता॑ ॥ (७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
इंद्र ने जगत् निर्माण करने वाले इस महान् यज्ञ के तीन सवनों में सोमरूप अन्न का तुरंत पान किया है एवं हव्यरूप अन्न का भक्षण किया है. विश्वव्यापक, असुर धन के अपहर्ता, शत्रुविजयी एवं वज्र चलाने वाले इंद्र ने मेघ को पाकर विदीर्ण कर दिया. (७)
EN English Translation
Indra has immediately consumed somrupa food in the three saavans of this great yagna that created the world and has consumed the havanrupa food. Indra, the destroyer of the world-wide, the abductor of asura wealth, the enemy and the vajra- wielder, found the cloud and broke it away. (7)
अ॒स्मा इदु॒ ग्नाश्चि॑द्दे॒वप॑त्नी॒रिन्द्रा॑या॒र्कम॑हि॒हत्य॑ ऊवुः । परि॒ द्यावा॑पृथि॒वी ज॑भ्र उ॒र्वी नास्य॒ ते म॑हि॒मानं॒ परि॑ ष्टः ॥ (८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जब इंद्र ने वृत्र का वध किया था, तब गमनशील देवपत्नियों ने उनकी स्तुति की थी. इंद्र अपने तेज के द्वारा आकाश और पृथ्वी से बढ़ गए थे, पर आकाश और धरती इंद्र की महिमा का अतिक्रमण नहीं कर सके. (८)
EN English Translation
When Indra killed Vrithra, he was praised by the moving devyapatis. Indra had risen from the sky and the earth by his brightness, but the heavens and the earth could not transgress indra's glory. (8)
अ॒स्येदे॒व प्र रि॑रिचे महि॒त्वं दि॒वस्पृ॑थि॒व्याः पर्य॒न्तरि॑क्षात् । स्व॒राळिन्द्रो॒ दम॒ आ वि॒श्वगू॑र्तः स्व॒रिरम॑त्रो ववक्षे॒ रणा॑य ॥ (९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
इंद्र की महिमा आकाश, धरती और उनके मध्यवर्ती लोक से भी बढ़कर है. इंद्र अपने इस निवासस्थान में अपने तेज से सुशोभित, सभी कार्य करने में कुशल, शक्तिशाली शत्रु का नाश करने में समर्थ एवं युद्ध करने में निपुण हैं. इंद्र अपने मेघ रूप शत्रु को युद्ध के लिए ललकारते हैं. (९)
EN English Translation
The glory of Indra is greater than the heavens, the earth and their intermediate realms. Indra is adorned with his swiftness in this abode, skilled in doing all his work, capable of destroying a powerful enemy and adept at fighting. Indra challenges his cloudy form of enemy to war. (9)
अ॒स्येदे॒व शव॑सा शु॒षन्तं॒ वि वृ॑श्च॒द्वज्रे॑ण वृ॒त्रमिन्द्रः॑ । गा न व्रा॒णा अ॒वनी॑रमुञ्चद॒भि श्रवो॑ दा॒वने॒ सचे॑ताः ॥ (१०)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
इंद्र ने अपनी ही शक्ति से जल रोकने वाले वृत्र का उच्छेद कर दिया था. जिस प्रकार चोरों द्वारा रोकी हुई गाएं इंद्र ने छुड़वा दी थीं, उसी प्रकार वूत्र द्वारा रोका हुआ विश्व का रक्षक जल छुड़वा दिया था. इंद्र हव्य देने वाले को इच्छानुसार अन्न देते हैं. (१०)
EN English Translation
Indra had removed the water-stopping circle with his own power. Just as indra had released the cows stopped by the thieves, so the world's protector water stopped by the potter was released. Indra gives food to the giver of the havya as per his will. (10)
अ॒स्येदु॑ त्वे॒षसा॑ रन्त॒ सिन्ध॑वः॒ परि॒ यद्वज्रे॑ण सी॒मय॑च्छत् । ई॒शा॒न॒कृद्दा॒शुषे॑ दश॒स्यन्तु॒र्वीत॑ये गा॒धं तु॒र्वणिः॑ कः ॥ (११)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
इंद्र ने वज्र द्वारा नदियों की सीमा निश्चित कर दी है, अतः इंद्र के बल के कारण गंगा आदि सरिताएं अपने-अपने स्थान पर सुशोभित हैं. इंद्र ने अपने को ऐश्वर्यवान् बनाकर हव्यदाता यजमान को फल प्रदान करते हुए तुर्वीति ऋषि के हेतु निवास योग्य स्थल अविलंब बना दिया था. (११)
EN English Translation
Indra has fixed the boundary of the rivers by the thunderbolt, so due to the force of Indra, the Ganga etc. streams are adorned in their respective places. Indra had made himself a place of residence for the sage Turviti without delay, giving fruit to the havyadata host by making himself a splendor. (11)
अ॒स्मा इदु॒ प्र भ॑रा॒ तूतु॑जानो वृ॒त्राय॒ वज्र॒मीशा॑नः किये॒धाः । गोर्न पर्व॒ वि र॑दा तिर॒श्चेष्य॒न्नर्णां॑स्य॒पां च॒रध्यै॑ ॥ (१२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे शीघ्रताकारक, सबके स्वामी एवं अपरिमित बलशाली इंद्र! तुम इस वृत्र के ऊपर वज्र का प्रहार करो. जिस प्रकार मांस के विक्रेता पशु के अंगों को काटते हैं, उसी प्रकार तुम वृत्र के शरीर के जोड़ अपने वज्र से तिरछे रूप में काटो, इससे वर्षा होगी और धरती पर जल बहने लगेगा. (१२)
EN English Translation
O hasty, lord of all and infinitely powerful Indra! You strike the thunderbolt on this circle. Just as the sellers of meat cut off the animal's parts, so you cut the joints of the vrikra's body diagonally from your thunderbolt, it will rain and water will start flowing on the earth. (12)
अ॒स्येदु॒ प्र ब्रू॑हि पू॒र्व्याणि॑ तु॒रस्य॒ कर्मा॑णि॒ नव्य॑ उ॒क्थैः । यु॒धे यदि॑ष्णा॒न आयु॑धान्यृघा॒यमा॑णो निरि॒णाति॒ शत्रू॑न् ॥ (१३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे स्तोता! स्तुति के योग्य एवं युद्ध के लिए शीघ्रता करने वाले इंद्र के पूर्व कर्मो की प्रशंसा करो. इंद्र युद्ध में शत्रुघात के निमित्त आयुधों को बार-बार फेंकते हुए उनके सामने जाते हैं. (१३)
EN English Translation
This is the hymn! Praise indra's former deeds worthy of praise and hastening for war. Indra goes in front of them repeatedly throwing weapons for the sake of enemy attack in battle. (13)
अ॒स्येदु॑ भि॒या गि॒रय॑श्च दृ॒ळ्हा द्यावा॑ च॒ भूमा॑ ज॒नुष॑स्तुजेते । उपो॑ वे॒नस्य॒ जोगु॑वान ओ॒णिं स॒द्यो भु॑वद्वी॒र्या॑य नो॒धाः ॥ (१४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
इन्हीं इंद्र के भय से पर्वत स्थिर हैं एवं इनके प्रकट होने पर धरती और आकाश भय से कांपने लगते हैं. नोधा नामक ऋषि ने इन्हीं सुंदर एवं दुःखविनाशक इंद्र की रक्षा शक्ति की अपने सूक्तों द्वारा बार-बार प्रशंसा करके अविलंब शक्ति प्राप्त की थी. (१४)
EN English Translation
The mountains are stable by the fear of these Indras and when they appear, the earth and the sky begin to tremble with fear. A sage named Nodha had gained power without delay by repeatedly praising the protective power of this beautiful and sadly destructive Indra through his suktas. (14)
अ॒स्मा इदु॒ त्यदनु॑ दाय्येषा॒मेको॒ यद्व॒व्ने भूरे॒रीशा॑नः । प्रैत॑शं॒ सूर्ये॑ पस्पृधा॒नं सौव॑श्व्ये॒ सुष्वि॑माव॒दिन्द्रः॑ ॥ (१५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
अकेले ही शत्रु विजय में समर्थ एवं अनेक प्रकार के स्वामी इंद्र ने स्तोताओं से जिस प्रकार की स्तुति की इच्छा की थी, उन्हें वही स्तुति प्रदान की गई है. स्वश्च के पुत्र सूर्य के साथ युद्ध करते समय सोमरस निचोड़ने वाले एतश ऋषि को इंद्र ने बचाया. (१५)
EN English Translation
The kind of praise that Swami Indra, who is capable of conquering the enemy alone and of many kinds, has been given the same praise as he had desired from the Stotas. Indra saved the sage Etash, who squeezed the Somras while fighting with the sun, son of Swash. (15)
ए॒वा ते॑ हारियोजना सुवृ॒क्तीन्द्र॒ ब्रह्मा॑णि॒ गोत॑मासो अक्रन् । ऐषु॑ वि॒श्वपे॑शसं॒ धियं॑ धाः प्रा॒तर्म॒क्षू धि॒याव॑सुर्जगम्यात् ॥ (१६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! तुम घोड़ों समेत रथ के स्वामी हो. तुम्हें अपने यज्ञ में बुलाने के लिए गोतम गोत्र वाले ऋषियों ने तुम्हारे प्रति स्तुति रूपी मंत्र कहे हैं. तुम उनकी अनेक प्रकार से उन्नति करो. बुद्धि द्वारा धन प्राप्त करने वाले इंद्र प्रातःकाल शीघ्र आवें. (१६)
EN English Translation
O Indra! You are the lord of the chariot along with the horses. The sages of the gottam gotra have said mantras of praise to you to call you to their yajna. You make them progress in many ways. Indra, who receives wealth through wisdom, should come early in the morning. (16)
