आ नो॑ दे॒वाना॒मुप॑ वेतु॒ शंसो॒ विश्वे॑भिस्तु॒रैरव॑से॒ यज॑त्रः । तेभि॑र्व॒यं सु॑ष॒खायो॑ भवेम॒ तर॑न्तो॒ विश्वा॑ दुरि॒ता स्या॑म ॥ (१)

हम स्तोताओं के स्तुतियोग्य एवं यज्ञपात्र इंद्र शीघ्रगामी मरुतों के साथ हमारी रक्षा के लिए आवें. हम उन देवों के शोभन सखा बनें एवं सभी पापों से पार हो जावें. (१)
EN English Translation
May we come to protect us with the fast-moving maruts, the praiseworthy and sacrificial Indra of the Psalms. Let us be the adornment of those gods and overcome all sins. (1)
परि॑ चि॒न्मर्तो॒ द्रवि॑णं ममन्यादृ॒तस्य॑ प॒था नम॒सा वि॑वासेत् । उ॒त स्वेन॒ क्रतु॑ना॒ सं व॑देत॒ श्रेयां॑सं॒ दक्षं॒ मन॑सा जगृभ्यात् ॥ (२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
मनुष्य सभी प्रकार से देवयज्ञ के लिए धन की अभिलाषा करें एवं धन पाकर हव्य द्वारा यज्ञ के मार्ग से देवों की सेवा करें. वे अपने ज्ञान से देवों का ध्यान करें एवं अति प्रशंसनीय तथा सर्वव्यापक अंतरात्मा को मन से ग्रहण करें. (२)
EN English Translation
Man should desire wealth for devyagya in all respects and get the money and serve the gods through the path of yajna by getting the money. They meditate on the gods with their knowledge and receive the most admired and omnipresent conscience from the mind. (2)
अधा॑यि धी॒तिरस॑सृग्र॒मंशा॑स्ती॒र्थे न द॒स्ममुप॑ य॒न्त्यूमाः॑ । अ॒भ्या॑नश्म सुवि॒तस्य॑ शू॒षं नवे॑दसो अ॒मृता॑नामभूम ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
देवयज्ञ की क्रिया आरंभ हो गई है. जिस प्रकार तीर्थ में तर्पण वाले जल के अंश देवों के पास जाते हैं, उसी प्रकार हमारे दिए हुए तृप्तिकारक हव्य दर्शनीय एवं छोटे-बड़े देवों के पास जाते हैं. हमने विस्तृत स्वर्ग का सुख पाया है और हम देवों का स्वरूप जानने वाले बनें. (३)
EN English Translation
The process of devyagna has begun. Just as the portions of tarpan water in the pilgrimage go to the gods, so the satiating ones given to us go to the visible and small and big gods. We have found the happiness of the vast heaven and let us be the ones who know the nature of the gods. (3)
नित्य॑श्चाकन्या॒त्स्वप॑ति॒र्दमू॑ना॒ यस्मा॑ उ दे॒वः स॑वि॒ता ज॒जान॑ । भगो॑ वा॒ गोभि॑रर्य॒मेम॑नज्या॒त्सो अ॑स्मै॒ चारु॑श्छदयदु॒त स्या॑त् ॥ (४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
अपनी प्रजाओं के स्वामी प्रजापति दानोत्सुक होकर फल देने की अभिलाषा करें. यज्ञकर्ता को सविता देव ने फल दिया है. स्तुति द्वारा प्रसन्न इंद्र एवं अर्यमा मुझे फल दें. सुंदर रूप वाले सभी देव मुझे फल दें. (४)
EN English Translation
The lord of your people, Prajapati, wish to give fruit by being a danotsuk. The yajnakar has been given fruit by Savita Dev. May Indra and Aryama, pleased with praise, give me fruit. All the gods with beautiful appearance give me fruit. (4)
इ॒यं सा भू॑या उ॒षसा॑मिव॒ क्षा यद्ध॑ क्षु॒मन्तः॒ शव॑सा स॒माय॑न् । अ॒स्य स्तु॒तिं ज॑रि॒तुर्भिक्ष॑माणा॒ आ नः॑ श॒ग्मास॒ उप॑ यन्तु॒ वाजाः॑ ॥ (५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जिस समय स्तुति अभिलाषी देवगण शब्द करते हुए तेज चाल से मेरे पास आए, उस समय यह धरती प्रातःकाल के प्रकाश से भर गई. सुखकारक अन्न हमारे पास आवे. (५)
EN English Translation
At the time when the gods who wanted praise came to me with a swift speed, saying the words, the earth was filled with the light of the morning. Let the soothing food come to us. (5)
अ॒स्येदे॒षा सु॑म॒तिः प॑प्रथा॒नाभ॑वत्पू॒र्व्या भूम॑ना॒ गौः । अ॒स्य सनी॑ळा॒ असु॑रस्य॒ योनौ॑ समा॒न आ भर॑णे॒ बिभ्र॑माणाः ॥ (६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
इस समय हमारी देवस्तुति देवों के पास जाने के लिए पहले के समान विस्तृत हो रही है. मुझ शक्ति के यज्ञ में सब देव अपने अनुकूल स्थान ग्रहण करें एवं मेरे लिए उत्तम फल दें. मेरा यज्ञ सब देवों का पोषक है. (६)
EN English Translation
At this time our godstoestuaries are getting as detailed as before to go to the devas. May all the gods take their favorable place in the yagna of my power and give me the best fruits. My yajna is the nourishment of all gods. (6)
किं स्वि॒द्वनं॒ क उ॒ स वृ॒क्ष आ॑स॒ यतो॒ द्यावा॑पृथि॒वी नि॑ष्टत॒क्षुः । सं॒त॒स्था॒ने अ॒जरे॑ इ॒तऊ॑ती॒ अहा॑नि पू॒र्वीरु॒षसो॑ जरन्त ॥ (७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
वह कोन सा वन अथवा कीन सा वृक्ष है, जिससे सामग्री लेकर देवों ने द्यावा-पृथिवी को बनाया है? देवों द्वारा सुरक्षित द्यावा-पृथिवी ठीक से स्थित एवं जरारहित हैं, जबकि प्राचीन दिन एवं उषाएं जीर्ण हो गई हैं. (७)
EN English Translation
Which is the forest or the tree from which the gods have taken the material from which they have made the diva-prithvivi? The dyava-prithvis, protected by the gods, are properly located and unharmed, while the ancient days and usha have become dilapidated. (7)
नैताव॑दे॒ना प॒रो अ॒न्यद॑स्त्यु॒क्षा स द्यावा॑पृथि॒वी बि॑भर्ति । त्वचं॑ प॒वित्रं॑ कृणुत स्व॒धावा॒न्यदीं॒ सूर्यं॒ न ह॒रितो॒ वह॑न्ति ॥ (८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
द्यावा-पृथिवी ही सबसे बढ़कर नहीं हैं. उनसे बढ़कर भी कोई है. वह प्रजाओं को बनाने वाला और द्यावा-पृथिवी का रक्षक है. उस अन्न के स्वामी ने उस समय अपने शरीर का निर्माण किया था, जिस समय सूर्य के घोड़ों ने उनका रथ खींचना भी आरंभ नहीं किया था. (८)
EN English Translation
The earth is not the most important. There's someone more than them. He is the creator of the people and the protector of the Diva-Prithvivi. The lord of that grain had built his body at the time when the horses of the sun did not even begin to draw his chariot. (8)
स्ते॒गो न क्षामत्ये॑ति पृ॒थ्वीं मिहं॒ न वातो॒ वि ह॑ वाति॒ भूम॑ । मि॒त्रो यत्र॒ वरु॑णो अ॒ज्यमा॑नो॒ऽग्निर्वने॒ न व्यसृ॑ष्ट॒ शोक॑म् ॥ (९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
रश्मिसमूह वाले सूर्य विस्तृत धरती का अतिक्रमण करके नहीं जाते और वायु भी समर्थ होते हुए वर्षा को छिन्न-भिन्न नहीं करते. मित्र एवं वरुण प्रकट होकर इस प्रकार प्रकाश करते हैं, जिस प्रकार अग्नि वन को प्रकाशित कर सकते हैं. (९)
EN English Translation
The rays of the sun do not cross the vast earth and the wind also does not disperse the rain while being able to. Friends and Varuna appear and light up in such a way that they can illuminate the agni forest. (9)
स्त॒रीर्यत्सूत॑ स॒द्यो अ॒ज्यमा॑ना॒ व्यथि॑रव्य॒थीः कृ॑णुत॒ स्वगो॑पा । पु॒त्रो यत्पूर्वः॑ पि॒त्रोर्जनि॑ष्ट श॒म्यां गौर्ज॑गार॒ यद्ध॑ पृ॒च्छान् ॥ (१०)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
बूढ़ी गाय जिस प्रकार वीर्य से सिंचित होकर शीघ्र ही बच्चा पैदा करती है, उसी प्रकार दुःख नष्ट करने वाली एवं अपनी रक्षा करने वाली अरणियां अग्नि को उत्पन्न करती हैं. अग्नि माता-पिता के समान दोनों अरणियों से प्राचीनकाल में उत्पन्न हुए थे, इसलिए उनके पुत्र हैं. शमी वृक्ष पर जन्म लेने वाली अरणिरूप गाय की खोज की जाती है. (१०)
EN English Translation
Just as the old cow, irrigated with semen, produces a child quickly, so the arinity that destroys sorrow and protects itself produces agni. Fire originated in ancient times from both the aranis, similar to the parents, so are their sons. The araniform cow which is born on the Shami tree is discovered. (10)
उ॒त कण्वं॑ नृ॒षदः॑ पु॒त्रमा॑हुरु॒त श्या॒वो धन॒माद॑त्त वा॒जी । प्र कृ॒ष्णाय॒ रुश॑दपिन्व॒तोध॑रृ॒तमत्र॒ नकि॑रस्मा अपीपेत् ॥ (११)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
वेदवाही लोग कण्व को नृषद का पुत्र कहते हैं. काले रंग वाले एवं हव्यान्न धारक कण्व ने धन प्राप्त किया. अग्नि ने कण्व के लिए अपना शोभनरूप प्रकट किया. कण्व के अतिरिक्त अग्नि के लिए वैसा यज्ञ कोई नहीं कर सकता. (११)
EN English Translation
Vedavahis call Kanva the son of Nrishad. Kanva, a black-colored and white holder, received money. Agni revealed its appearance for Kanva. No one can perform such a yajna for agni other than Kanva. (11)
