दू॒रे तन्नाम॒ गुह्यं॑ परा॒चैर्यत्त्वा॑ भी॒ते अह्व॑येतां वयो॒धै । उद॑स्तभ्नाः पृथि॒वीं द्याम॒भीके॒ भ्रातुः॑ पु॒त्रान्म॑घवन्तित्विषा॒णः ॥ (१)

हे इंद्र! तुम्हारा शरीर दूर है, इसलिए पराङ्मुख मनुष्यों के लिए वह अप्रकाशित है. जिस समय डरे हुए द्यावा-पृथिवी तुम्हें अन्न के लिए बुलाते हैं, उस समय तुम धरती के ऊपर आकाश को पकड़कर रखते हो एवं अपने भाई मेघ के जलों को दीप्त करते हो. (१)
EN English Translation
O Indra! Your body is far away, so it is unpublished for alienated humans. At the time when the frightened Dyava-Prithvi calls you for food, you hold the sky above the earth and light up the waters of your brother Megh. (1)
म॒हत्तन्नाम॒ गुह्यं॑ पुरु॒स्पृग्येन॑ भू॒तं ज॒नयो॒ येन॒ भव्य॑म् । प्र॒त्नं जा॒तं ज्योति॒र्यद॑स्य प्रि॒यं प्रि॒याः सम॑विशन्त॒ पञ्च॑ ॥ (२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! तुम्हारा अन्यों के द्वारा अज्ञात एवं बहुतों द्वारा अभिलषित आकाशरूपी शरीर अत्यंत विस्तृत है. उसी से तुमने भूत और भविष्यत् को उत्पन्न किया है. उसीसे तुम्हारा प्रिय तत्त्व प्राचीन ज्योति अर्थात् आदित्य उत्पन्न हुआ. उसी के कारण पंचजन प्रसन्न हुए. (२)
EN English Translation
O Indra! Your heavenly body, unknown by others and characterized by many, is very wide. From him you have created the past and the future. From him came your beloved element, the ancient light i.e. Aditya. Because of that, the Panchjanwas pleased. (2)
आ रोद॑सी अपृणा॒दोत मध्यं॒ पञ्च॑ दे॒वाँ ऋ॑तु॒शः स॒प्तस॑प्त । चतु॑स्त्रिंशता पुरु॒धा वि च॑ष्टे॒ सरू॑पेण॒ ज्योति॑षा॒ विव्र॑तेन ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
इंद्र ने अपने शरीर से द्यावा-पृथिवी एवं अंतरिक्ष को पूर्ण किया है एवं पांच देवों, सात तत्त्वों तथा चौंतीस देवगणों को अनेक प्रकार से देखते हैं. इंद्र यह कार्य समान रूप वाली अपनी विस्तृत ज्योति की सहायता से करते हैं. (३)
EN English Translation
Indra has perfected the deva-earth and space from his body and sees the five devas, the seven elements and the thirty-four devas in many ways. Indra does this work with the help of his wide light of equal form. (3)
यदु॑ष॒ औच्छः॑ प्रथ॒मा वि॒भाना॒मज॑नयो॒ येन॑ पु॒ष्टस्य॑ पु॒ष्टम् । यत्ते॑ जामि॒त्वमव॑रं॒ पर॑स्या म॒हन्म॑ह॒त्या अ॑सुर॒त्वमेक॑म् ॥ (४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे उषा! तुमने नक्षत्र आदि तेजस्वी पदार्थो को सबसे पहले प्रकाश दिया. उसी तेज से तुमने पुष्ट को अधिक पुष्ट बनाया. तुम उन्नत स्थिति वाली हो, तथापि तुम्हारी मित्रता हम निम्न स्थिति वालों के साथ है. यही तुम्हारा एकमात्र महत्त्व और शक्तिपूर्णता है. (४)
EN English Translation
Oh, Usha! You first gave light to the bright substances like nakshatra etc. With that speed you made the athletic more athletic. You are having advanced status, however your friendship we have with those of the following positions. That's your only importance and strength. (4)
वि॒धुं द॑द्रा॒णं सम॑ने बहू॒नां युवा॑नं॒ सन्तं॑ पलि॒तो ज॑गार । दे॒वस्य॑ पश्य॒ काव्यं॑ महि॒त्वाद्या म॒मार॒ स ह्यः समा॑न ॥ (५)

युद्ध आदि अनेक कार्य करने वाले एवं युद्धों में बहुत से शत्रुओं को भगाने वाले युवा पुरुष को इंद्र की आज्ञा से बुढ़ापा निगल लेता है. इंद्र देव का सामर्थ्य देखिए कि कल जो ठीक से कार्य कर रहा था, वह आज मर गया है. (५)
EN English Translation
Old age swallows up a young man who does many things like war, etc., and drives away many enemies in wars, by the command of Indra. See the power of Indra Dev that the one who was functioning properly yesterday has died today. (5)
शाक्म॑ना शा॒को अ॑रु॒णः सु॑प॒र्ण आ यो म॒हः शूरः॑ स॒नादनी॑ळः । यच्चि॒केत॑ स॒त्यमित्तन्न मोघं॒ वसु॑ स्पा॒र्हमु॒त जेतो॒त दाता॑ ॥ (६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
शक्तिसंपन्न व लाल रंग वाला एक पक्षी आ रहा है जो महान्, शूर, प्राचीन एवं बिना घोंसले वाला है. वह जो करना चाहता है, वह अवश्य सत्य होता है एवं कभी असफल नहीं होता. वह अभिलषणीय संपत्ति जीतता है एवं स्तोताओं को देता है. (६)
EN English Translation
A powerful and red-colored bird is coming which is great, brave, ancient and nestless. What he wants to do is definitely true and never fails. He conquers the identifiable property and gives it to the psalmists. (6)
ऐभि॑र्ददे॒ वृष्ण्या॒ पौंस्या॑नि॒ येभि॒रौक्ष॑द्वृत्र॒हत्या॑य व॒ज्री । ये कर्म॑णः क्रि॒यमा॑णस्य म॒ह्न ऋ॑तेक॒र्ममु॒दजा॑यन्त दे॒वाः ॥ (७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
वज्रधारी इंद्र ने इन मरुतों के साथ वर्षा करने वाली शक्ति प्राप्त की एवं वृत्र की हत्या करके वर्षा द्वारा धरती को सींचा. महान् इंद्र द्वारा किए गए वर्षा कार्य में मरुद्गण स्वयं ही सहायक बनते हैं. (७)
EN English Translation
Vajradhari Indra gained the power of rain with these maruts and irrigated the earth by rain by killing Vritra. The deserts themselves help in the rain work done by the great Indra. (7)
यु॒जा कर्मा॑णि ज॒नय॑न्वि॒श्वौजा॑ अशस्ति॒हा वि॒श्वम॑नास्तुरा॒षाट् । पी॒त्वी सोम॑स्य दि॒व आ वृ॑धा॒नः शूरो॒ निर्यु॒धाध॑म॒द्दस्यू॑न् ॥ (८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
सर्वत्र व्याप्त शक्ति वाले, राक्षसनाशक, अत्यंत मनस्वी एवं शत्रुओं पर शीघ्र विजय प्राप्त करने वाले इंद्र मरुतों की सहायता से सभी कार्य करते हैं. इंद्र ने स्वर्ग से आकर सोमपान किया और अपना शरीर बढ़ाया. शूर इंद्र ने आयुधों से शत्रुओं को मारा. (८)
EN English Translation
Indra, who has the power everywhere, is destructive, extremely mind-conscious and quickly conquers his enemies, does all the work with the help of the Maruts. Indra came from heaven and did sompan and enlarged his body. Shur Indra killed the enemies with weapons. (8)
