उ॒षसः॒ पूर्वा॒ अध॒ यद्व्यू॒षुर्म॒हद्वि ज॑ज्ञे अ॒क्षरं॑ प॒दे गोः । व्र॒ता दे॒वाना॒मुप॒ नु प्र॒भूष॑न्म॒हद्दे॒वाना॑मसुर॒त्वमेक॑म् ॥ (१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
पूर्ववर्तिनी उषा जब समाप्त होती है, तब अविनाशी सूर्य नामक महान् ज्योति आकाश अथवा सागर से उत्पन्न होती है. इसके बाद देव-संबंधी कर्म आरंभ हो जाते हैं एवं यजमान देवों के समीप उपस्थित होते हैं. देवों का प्रमुख बल एक ही है. (१)
EN English Translation
When the predecessor Usha ends, the great light named Indestructible Sun originates from the sky or the ocean. After this, the deva-related deeds begin and the hosts are present near the devas. The principal force of the gods is the same. (1)
मो षू णो॒ अत्र॑ जुहुरन्त दे॒वा मा पूर्वे॑ अग्ने पि॒तरः॑ पद॒ज्ञाः । पु॒रा॒ण्योः सद्म॑नोः के॒तुर॒न्तर्म॒हद्दे॒वाना॑मसुर॒त्वमेक॑म् ॥ (२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अग्नि! इस समय देवगण एवं कर्मानुसार देवपद पाने वाले पुरातन पितर हमारे कर्म में बाधा न डालें. पुरातन धरती-आकाश के मध्य उदित एवं यज्ञ का संकेत करने वाले सूर्य हमारी हिंसा न करें. देवों का प्रमुख बल एक ही है. (२)
EN English Translation
O agni! At this time, the ancient fathers who get the devpada according to the devagana and karma should not hinder our karma. Do not let the suns that rise between the ancient earth and the sky and indicate the yagna do us violence. The principal force of the gods is the same. (2)
वि मे॑ पुरु॒त्रा प॑तयन्ति॒ कामाः॒ शम्यच्छा॑ दीद्ये पू॒र्व्याणि॑ । समि॑द्धे अ॒ग्नावृ॒तमिद्व॑देम म॒हद्दे॒वाना॑मसुर॒त्वमेक॑म् ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अग्नि! मेरी अनेक अभिलाषाएं इधर-उधर जाती हैं. अग्निष्टोम आदि के बहाने हम पुरानी स्तुतियां प्रकाशित करते हैं. यज्ञ के निमित्त अग्नि के प्रज्वलित होने पर हम सत्य बोलेंगे. देवों का प्रमुख बल एक ही है. (३)
EN English Translation
O agni! Many of my desires go around. We publish old hymns on the pretext of agnishtoma etc. We will speak the truth when the agni is ignited for the sake of yajna. The principal force of the gods is the same. (3)
स॒मा॒नो राजा॒ विभृ॑तः पुरु॒त्रा शये॑ श॒यासु॒ प्रयु॑तो॒ वनानु॑ । अ॒न्या व॒त्सं भर॑ति॒ क्षेति॑ मा॒ता म॒हद्दे॒वाना॑मसुर॒त्वमेक॑म् ॥ (४)

दीप्यमान एक ही अग्नि यज्ञ के निमित्त अनेक स्थानों पर व्यवहार में लाए जाते हैं. वे वेदी पर सोते हैं एवं काष्ठों से बनी अरणि में विभक्त होकर निवास करते हैं. इनके धरती- आकाशरूपी माता-पिता में से एक इन्हें उत्पन्न होते ही भरण करता है एवं दूसरी माता केवल धारण करती है. देवों का प्रमुख बल एक ही है. (४)
EN English Translation
The lights are put into practice in many places for the sake of the same agni yajna. They sleep on the altar and live in a wooden aranis divided into them. One of their earth-celestial parents fills them as soon as they are born and the other mother only holds them. The principal force of the gods is the same. (4)
आ॒क्षित्पूर्वा॒स्वप॑रा अनू॒रुत्स॒द्यो जा॒तासु॒ तरु॑णीष्व॒न्तः । अ॒न्तर्व॑तीः सुवते॒ अप्र॑वीता म॒हद्दे॒वाना॑मसुर॒त्वमेक॑म् ॥ (५)

अग्नि सूखे प्राचीन वृक्षों में वर्तमान हैं, नए वृक्षों में उत्पत्ति क्रम से रहते हैं तथा इसी समय उत्पन्न पल्लवित वनस्पतियों में अंतर्भूत होते हैं, ओषधियां किसी अन्य के गर्भाधान के बिना केवल अग्नि के संसर्ग से गर्भवती होकर पुष्प, फल आदि को जन्म देती हैं. देवों का प्रमुख बल एक ही है. (५)
EN English Translation
Fire dried are present in ancient trees, live in the order of origin in the new trees and are embedded in the plants produced at the same time, the herbs give birth to flowers, fruits, etc., without the conception of anyone else, only by becoming pregnant with the contact of agni. The principal force of the gods is the same. (5)
श॒युः प॒रस्ता॒दध॒ नु द्वि॑मा॒ताब॑न्ध॒नश्च॑रति व॒त्स एकः॑ । मि॒त्रस्य॒ ता वरु॑णस्य व्र॒तानि॑ म॒हद्दे॒वाना॑मसुर॒त्वमेक॑म् ॥ (६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
धरती-आकाशरूपी माता-पिता के पुत्र सूर्य छिपते समय पश्चिम दिशा में सोते हैं. उदयकाल में वे ही सूर्य बंधनरहित होकर आकाश में चलते हैं. यह सारा काम मित्र और वरुण का है. देवों का प्रमुख बल एक ही है. (६)
EN English Translation
The sons of earth-celestial parents sleep in the west direction while hiding the sun. In the rising period, they walk in the sky without sun bondage. All this work belongs to a friend and Varun. The principal force of the gods is the same. (6)
द्वि॒मा॒ता होता॑ वि॒दथे॑षु स॒म्राळन्वग्रं॒ चर॑ति॒ क्षेति॑ बु॒ध्नः । प्र रण्या॑नि रण्य॒वाचो॑ भरन्ते म॒हद्दे॒वाना॑मसुर॒त्वमेक॑म् ॥ (७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
दो लोकों के बनाने वाले, यज्ञ के होता एवं यज्ञ में भली-भांति सुशोभित अग्नि सूर्यरूप से, आकाश में घूमते हैं एवं सभी कर्मो के मूलकारण बनकर धरती पर रहते हैं. मधुर वाणी वाले स्तोता उनके लिए मधुर स्तोत्र बोलते हैं. देवों का प्रमुख बल एक ही है. (७)
EN English Translation
The makers of the two lokas, the yajna and the well-adorned agni in the yajna, revolve in the sun, in the sky, and live on the earth as the root cause of all the deeds. Hymns with sweet voices speak sweet hymns for them. The principal force of the gods is the same. (7)
शूर॑स्येव॒ युध्य॑तो अन्त॒मस्य॑ प्रती॒चीनं॑ ददृशे॒ विश्व॑मा॒यत् । अ॒न्तर्म॒तिश्च॑रति नि॒ष्षिधं॒ गोर्म॒हद्दे॒वाना॑मसुर॒त्वमेक॑म् ॥ (८)

समीप में वर्तमान अग्नि के सामने आने वाले सभी प्राणी इस प्रकार पीछे भागते हैं, जैसे युद्ध करने वाले शूर के सामने से कायर लोग भागते हैं. सबके द्वारा जाने गए अग्नि जल का नाश करने वाली ज्वाला अपने भीतर धारण करते हैं. देवों का प्रमुख बल एक ही है. (८)
EN English Translation
All the creatures that come in front of the present agni nearby run behind in this way, just as the cowards run from the front of the fighting knights. The flames that destroy the agni water known by all hold within themselves. The principal force of the gods is the same. (8)
नि वे॑वेति पलि॒तो दू॒त आ॑स्व॒न्तर्म॒हाँश्च॑रति रोच॒नेन॑ । वपूं॑षि॒ बिभ्र॑द॒भि नो॒ वि च॑ष्टे म॒हद्दे॒वाना॑मसुर॒त्वमेक॑म् ॥ (९)

सबके पालनकर्ता एवं देवों के दूत अग्नि इन ओषधियों में आवश्यक रूप से वर्तमान हैं एवं सूर्य के साथ-साथ धरती-आकाश के बीच में चलते हैं. नाना रूप धारण करने वाले वह अग्नि हम यज्ञकर्त्ताओं को विशेष कृपादृष्टि से देखते हैं. देवों का प्रमुख बल एक ही है. (९)
EN English Translation
Fire, the nurturer of all and the angels of the gods, is essentially present in these herbs and walks between the sun as well as the earth and the sky. We look at the yajnakartas with special grace in that agni that takes on various forms. The principal force of the gods is the same. (9)
विष्णु॑र्गो॒पाः प॑र॒मं पा॑ति॒ पाथः॑ प्रि॒या धामा॑न्य॒मृता॒ दधा॑नः । अ॒ग्निष्टा विश्वा॒ भुव॑नानि वेद म॒हद्दे॒वाना॑मसुर॒त्वमेक॑म् ॥ (१०)

व्याप्त, रक्षक, प्रिय एवं क्षयरहित तेज धारण करने वाले अग्नि परम स्थान की रक्षा करते हैं. अग्नि उन सब भुवनों को जानते हैं. देवों का प्रमुख बल एक ही है. (१०)
EN English Translation
The agnis that are pervaded, guarded, beloved and fast-wearing without decay protect the ultimate place. Fire knows all those bhuvanas. The principal force of the gods is the same. (10)
नाना॑ चक्राते य॒म्या॒३॒॑ वपूं॑षि॒ तयो॑र॒न्यद्रोच॑ते कृ॒ष्णम॒न्यत् । श्यावी॑ च॒ यदरु॑षी च॒ स्वसा॑रौ म॒हद्दे॒वाना॑मसुर॒त्वमेक॑म् ॥ (११)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
रात और दिन का जोड़ा नाना प्रकार के रूप धारण करता है. इन दो बहिनों में एक काले रंग की है और दूसरी शुक्ल वर्ण होने के कारण दीप्त होती है. देवों का प्रमुख बल एक ही है. (११)
EN English Translation
The pair of night and day takes on a variety of forms. One of these two sisters is black in colour and the other is luminous due to its Shukla varna. The principal force of the gods is the same. (11)
मा॒ता च॒ यत्र॑ दुहि॒ता च॑ धे॒नू स॑ब॒र्दुघे॑ धा॒पये॑ते समी॒ची । ऋ॒तस्य॒ ते सद॑सीळे अ॒न्तर्म॒हद्दे॒वाना॑मसुर॒त्वमेक॑म् ॥ (१२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
माता धरती और पुत्री द्यौ अंतरिक्ष में दूध देने वाली गायों के समान मिलकर एकदूसरी को अपना रस पिलाती हैं. जल के स्थान अंतरिक्ष के मध्य स्थित धरती-आकाश की मैं स्तुति करता हूं. देवों का प्रमुख बल एक ही है. (१२)
EN English Translation
Mother Earth and daughter Dau together like milk-giving cows in space feed each other their juices. I praise the earth-sky in the middle of space, the place of water. The principal force of the gods is the same. (12)
अ॒न्यस्या॑ व॒त्सं रि॑ह॒ती मि॑माय॒ कया॑ भु॒वा नि द॑धे धे॒नुरूधः॑ । ऋ॒तस्य॒ सा पय॑सापिन्व॒तेळा॑ म॒हद्दे॒वाना॑मसुर॒त्वमेक॑म् ॥ (१३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
धरती के पुत्र अग्नि को जल धारारूपी जिह्वा से चाटती हुई द्यौ बादल के गर्जन के रूप में शब्द करती है. द्यौ रूपी गाय धरती को जलहीन बनाकर अपने मेघ रूप स्तनों को जल से भरती है. सूखी धरती सूर्य के जल से भीगती है. देवों का प्रमुख बल एक ही है. (१३)
EN English Translation
The son of the earth licking agni with a stream-like tongue of water licking it as a roar of a cloud. The dau-like cow fills its cloudy breasts with water by making the earth waterless. The dry earth is drenched in the water of the sun. The principal force of the gods is the same. (13)
पद्या॑ वस्ते पुरु॒रूपा॒ वपूं॑ष्यू॒र्ध्वा त॑स्थौ॒ त्र्यविं॒ रेरि॑हाणा । ऋ॒तस्य॒ सद्म॒ वि च॑रामि वि॒द्वान्म॒हद्दे॒वाना॑मसुर॒त्वमेक॑म् ॥ (१४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
धरती बहुत से स्थावर-जंगम रूपों से अपने को ढकती है एवं उन्नत होकर तीन लोकों को व्याप्त करने वाले सूर्य को चाटती हुई ठहरती है. मैं आदित्य के स्थान को जानता हुआ उनकी सेवा करता हूं. देवों का प्रमुख बल एक ही है. (१४)
EN English Translation
The earth covers itself with many real-movable forms and becomes advanced and licks the sun that covers the three realms. I serve Aditya knowing his place. The principal force of the gods is the same. (14)
प॒दे इ॑व॒ निहि॑ते द॒स्मे अ॒न्तस्तयो॑र॒न्यद्गुह्य॑मा॒विर॒न्यत् । स॒ध्री॒ची॒ना प॒थ्या॒३॒॑ सा विषू॑ची म॒हद्दे॒वाना॑मसुर॒त्वमेक॑म् ॥ (१५)

शोभन दिवारात्रि धरती-आकाश के मध्य रखे हुए दो चरणों के समान जान पड़ते हैं. इनमें से रात्रि रूपी चरण गूढ़ एवं दूसरा दिवस रूपी चरण स्पष्ट है. इनके मिलन मार्ग अर्थात् काल को पुण्यात्मा एवं पापात्मा दोनों ही प्राप्त करते हैं. देवों का प्रमुख बल एक ही है. (१५)
EN English Translation
Shobhan Divaratri looks like two stages placed between the earth and the sky. Of these, the night stage is esoteric and the second day phase is clear. Their way of meeting i.e. kaal is attained by both punyamma and papatama. The principal force of the gods is the same. (15)
आ धे॒नवो॑ धुनयन्ता॒मशि॑श्वीः सब॒र्दुघाः॑ शश॒या अप्र॑दुग्धाः । नव्या॑नव्या युव॒तयो॒ भव॑न्तीर्म॒हद्दे॒वाना॑मसुर॒त्वमेक॑म् ॥ (१६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
वर्षा द्वारा सबको प्रसन्न करने वाली, शिशुरहिता, आकाश में वर्तमान, रसहीन न होने वाली, जल रूप दूध देने वाली, परस्पर मिलित एवं अत्यंत नवीन दिशाएं कांपती रहें. देवों का प्रमुख बल एक ही है. (१६)
EN English Translation
May the rain make everyone happy, childless, present in the sky, unustainable, water-giving milking, interconnected and very new directions tremble. The principal force of the gods is the same. (16)
यद॒न्यासु॑ वृष॒भो रोर॑वीति॒ सो अ॒न्यस्मि॑न्यू॒थे नि द॑धाति॒ रेतः॑ । स हि क्षपा॑वा॒न्स भगः॒ स राजा॑ म॒हद्दे॒वाना॑मसुर॒त्वमेक॑म् ॥ (१७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जल बरसाने वाले बादल रूपी इंद्र अन्य दिशाओं में बार-बार गर्जन करते हैं एवं अन्य दिशा में जल की वर्षा करते हैं. वह जल फेंकने वाले, सबके सेवनीय एवं राजा हैं. देवों का प्रमुख बल एक ही है. (१७)
EN English Translation
Indra, in the form of a cloud that showers water, roars repeatedly in other directions and rains water in the other direction. He is the water-thrower, the eater of all and the king. The principal force of the gods is the same. (17)
वी॒रस्य॒ नु स्वश्व्यं॑ जनासः॒ प्र नु वो॑चाम वि॒दुर॑स्य दे॒वाः । षो॒ळ्हा यु॒क्ताः पञ्च॑प॒ञ्चा व॑हन्ति म॒हद्दे॒वाना॑मसुर॒त्वमेक॑म् ॥ (१८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे मनुष्यो! शूर इंद्र के सुंदर घोड़ों का हम शीघ्र भांति-भांति से वर्णन करते हैं. उन्हें देवगण जानते हैं. वे ऋतुओं के रूप में छः एवं हेमंत, शिशिर के मिलकर एक हो जाने से पांच अश्चों के रूप में इंद्र को ढोते हैं. देवों का प्रमुख बल एक ही है. (१८)
EN English Translation
O men! We quickly describe the beautiful horses of Shur Indra. They know the gods. They carry Indra as six as seasons and five ass when Hemanta, Shishir, became one. The principal force of the gods is the same. (18)
दे॒वस्त्वष्टा॑ सवि॒ता वि॒श्वरू॑पः पु॒पोष॑ प्र॒जाः पु॑रु॒धा ज॑जान । इ॒मा च॒ विश्वा॒ भुव॑नान्यस्य म॒हद्दे॒वाना॑मसुर॒त्वमेक॑म् ॥ (१९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
सबके प्रेरक एवं नाना रूप धारी त्वष्टा देव प्रजाओं को अनेक प्रकार से उत्पन्न करते हैं एवं पालते हैं. संपूर्ण भुवन उन्हीं के हैं. देवों का प्रमुख बल एक ही है. (१९)
EN English Translation
The inspirational and diverse forms of all, the gods produce and nurture the people in many ways. The whole of Bhuvan belongs to them. The principal force of the gods is the same. (19)
म॒ही समै॑रच्च॒म्वा॑ समी॒ची उ॒भे ते अ॑स्य॒ वसु॑ना॒ न्यृ॑ष्टे । शृ॒ण्वे वी॒रो वि॒न्दमा॑नो॒ वसू॑नि म॒हद्दे॒वाना॑मसुर॒त्वमेक॑म् ॥ (२०)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
इंद्र ने विशाल एवं एक-दूसरे से मिले हुए धरती-आकाश दोनों को पशुपक्षियों से पूर्ण किया है. ये दोनों इंद्र के तेज से पूरी तरह व्याप्त हैं. वीर इंद्र शत्रुओं की संपत्ति छीनने के लिए प्रसिद्ध हैं. देवों का प्रमुख बल एक ही है. (२०)
EN English Translation
Indra has perfected both the vast and the earth-sky that meets each other with animals and birds. Both of these are completely permeated by the brightness of Indra. Veer Indra is famous for snatching the property of enemies. The principal force of the gods is the same. (20)
इ॒मां च॑ नः पृथि॒वीं वि॒श्वधा॑या॒ उप॑ क्षेति हि॒तमि॑त्रो॒ न राजा॑ । पु॒रः॒सदः॑ शर्म॒सदो॒ न वी॒रा म॒हद्दे॒वाना॑मसुर॒त्वमेक॑म् ॥ (२१)

विश्व का पालन करने वाले एवं हमारे राजा इंद्र धरती एवं आकाश के समीप रहते हैं. वीर मरुत् संग्राम में इंद्र के आगे रहते हैं तथा उनके घर में निवास करते हैं. देवों का प्रमुख बल एक ही है. (२१)
EN English Translation
The one who follows the world and our king Indra lives near the earth and the sky. Veera lives in front of Indra in the desert struggle and resides in his house. The principal force of the gods is the same. (21)
नि॒ष्षिध्व॑रीस्त॒ ओष॑धीरु॒तापो॑ र॒यिं त॑ इन्द्र पृथि॒वी बि॑भर्ति । सखा॑यस्ते वाम॒भाजः॑ स्याम म॒हद्दे॒वाना॑मसुर॒त्वमेक॑म् ॥ (२२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे मेघ रूप इंद्र! ओषशियों ने तुमसे सिद्धि पाई है, जल तुम्हीं से निकले हैं एवं धरती तुम्हारे भोग के योग्य धन को धारण करती है. तुम्हारे मित्र हम धन के भागी बनें, देवों का प्रमुख बल एक ही है. (२२)
EN English Translation
O cloud form Indra! The ushshis have attained perfection from you, the water has come out of you and the earth holds the wealth worthy of your enjoyment. Let us be your friends partners in wealth, the main force of the gods is the same. (22)
