तमु॑ ष्टुहि॒ यो अ॒भिभू॑त्योजा व॒न्वन्नवा॑तः पुरुहू॒त इन्द्रः॑ । अषा॑ळ्हमु॒ग्रं सह॑मानमा॒भिर्गी॒र्भिर्व॑र्ध वृष॒भं च॑र्षणी॒नाम् ॥ (१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे भरद्वाज ऋषि! उस इंद्र की स्तुति करो जो शत्रुओं को पराजित करने वाले, तेज से युक्त, शत्रुहिंसक, अपराजित एवं बहुतों द्वारा बुलाए गए हैं. तुम इन स्तुतिवचनों द्वारा अपराजित, ओजस्वी, शत्रुनाशक एवं प्रजाओं की इच्छा पूर्ण करने वाले इंद्र को बढ़ाओ. (१)
EN English Translation
O sage of Bhardwaja! Praise the Indra who has been called by the defeater of enemies, the one who is sharp, the enemy violent, the undefeated, and the many. You increase the undefeated, the flamboyant, the enemy, and the one who fulfills the will of the people through these eulogies. (1)
स यु॒ध्मः सत्वा॑ खज॒कृत्स॒मद्वा॑ तुविम्र॒क्षो न॑दनु॒माँ ऋ॑जी॒षी । बृ॒हद्रे॑णु॒श्च्यव॑नो॒ मानु॑षीणा॒मेकः॑ कृष्टी॒नाम॑भवत्स॒हावा॑ ॥ (२)

इंद्र! योद्धा, दाता, धूल उड़ाने वाले, यजमानों के साथ प्रसन्न, वर्षा द्वारा बहुतों को प्रसन्न करने वाले, गर्जनयुक्त, तीनों सवनों में सोम पीने वाले, युद्धकर्ता प्रमुख एवं मनु की सभी प्रजाओं के रक्षक है. (२)
EN English Translation
Indra! The warrior, the giver, the dust-blower, the one who is pleased with the hosts, the one who pleases many by the rain, the roaring, the drinker of Som in all the three saavanas, the chief of war and the protector of all the subjects of Manu. (2)
त्वं ह॒ नु त्यद॑दमायो॒ दस्यू॒ँरेकः॑ कृ॒ष्टीर॑वनो॒रार्या॑य । अस्ति॑ स्वि॒न्नु वी॒र्यं१॒॑ तत्त॑ इन्द्र॒ न स्वि॑दस्ति॒ तदृ॑तु॒था वि वो॑चः ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे प्रसिद्ध इंद्र! तुम यज्ञकर्मरहित लोगों को शीघ्र वश में करो. एकमात्र तुम्हीं ने यज्ञकर्त्ताओं को पुत्र, वासादि दिए हैं. तुम में वह शक्ति अब है या नहीं. समय-समय पर तुम शक्ति को प्रकट करो. (३)
EN English Translation
O famous Indra! You must quickly subdue those without sacrificial work. You alone have given sons, vasadis, to the yajnakartas. Whether you have that power in you now or not. From time to time you manifest the power. (3)
सदिद्धि ते॑ तुविजा॒तस्य॒ मन्ये॒ सहः॑ सहिष्ठ तुर॒तस्तु॒रस्य॑ । उ॒ग्रमु॒ग्रस्य॑ त॒वस॒स्तवी॒योऽर॑ध्रस्य रध्र॒तुरो॑ बभूव ॥ (४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे शक्तिशाली इंद्र! बहुत से य॒ज्ञं में प्रकट होने वाले एवं हमारे शत्रुओं की हिंसा करने वाले तुम में अधिक बल है, ऐसा मैं मानता हूं. तुम्हारा बल उग्र शत्रुओं द्वारा वश में न होने वाला एवं शत्रुओं को वश में करने वाला है. (४)
EN English Translation
O mighty Indra! I believe that you have more strength than those who appear in many of the yogyas and who commit violence against our enemies. Your force is not to be subdued by fierce enemies and will subdue the enemies. (4)
तन्नः॑ प्र॒त्नं स॒ख्यम॑स्तु यु॒ष्मे इ॒त्था वद॑द्भिर्व॒लमङ्गि॑रोभिः । हन्न॑च्युतच्युद्दस्मे॒षय॑न्तमृ॒णोः पुरो॒ वि दुरो॑ अस्य॒ विश्वाः॑ ॥ (५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे दृढ़ पर्वतों को गिराने वाले एवं दर्शनीय इंद्र! तुम्हारे साथ हमारी मित्रता चिरकाल तक रहे. तुमने स्तुतिकर्ता अंगिरागोत्रीय ऋषियों के ऊपर शस्त्र चलाने वाले बल नामक असुर को मारा एवं उसके सभी नगरों तथा उनके द्वारों को नष्ट कर दिया. (५)
EN English Translation
O Indra, who has fallen the mountains and is visible! May our friendship with you last forever. You struck the asura, the force that used arms against the sages of the praise-giving English sages, and destroyed all its cities and their gates. (5)
स हि धी॒भिर्हव्यो॒ अस्त्यु॒ग्र ई॑शान॒कृन्म॑ह॒ति वृ॑त्र॒तूर्ये॑ । स तो॒कसा॑ता॒ तन॑ये॒ स व॒ज्री वि॑तन्त॒साय्यो॑ अभवत्स॒मत्सु॑ ॥ (६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे ओजस्वी एवं स्तोताओं को समर्थ बनाने वाले इंद्र! तुम महान् संग्राम में स्तोताओं द्वारा बुलाए जाते हो. पुत्र एवं पौत्र प्राप्ति के लिए बुलाए जाने वाले वज्रधारी इंद्र विशेषरूप से वंदनीय हैं. (६)
EN English Translation
O Indra, who is capable of the saints and hymns! You are called by the psalms in the Great Battle. The vajradhari Indra, who is called to receive a son and grandson, is especially revered. (6)
स म॒ज्मना॒ जनि॑म॒ मानु॑षाणा॒मम॑र्त्येन॒ नाम्नाति॒ प्र स॑र्स्रे । स द्यु॒म्नेन॒ स शव॑सो॒त रा॒या स वी॒र्ये॑ण॒ नृत॑मः॒ समो॑काः ॥ (७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
इंद्र ने अपने अविनाशी एवं शत्रुओं को झुकाने वाले बल से मानवसमूहों पर अधिकार पाया है. इंद्र यश, बल, धन एवं वीर्य से नेताओं में श्रेष्ठ तथा साथ निवास करने वाले बनते हैं. (७)
EN English Translation
Indra has gained authority over human groups with the force of his indestructible and hostile force. Indra becomes the best and the one who dwells with the leaders by success, strength, wealth and semen. (7)
स यो न मु॒हे न मिथू॒ जनो॒ भूत्सु॒मन्तु॑नामा॒ चुमु॑रिं॒ धुनिं॑ च । वृ॒णक्पिप्रुं॒ शम्ब॑रं॒ शुष्ण॒मिन्द्रः॑ पु॒रां च्यौ॒त्नाय॑ श॒यथा॑य॒ नू चि॑त् ॥ (८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
वे इंद्र युद्ध में कभी कर्त्तव्य विमुख नहीं होते एवं मिथ्या वस्तुओं को जन्म नहीं देते. प्रसिद्ध नाम वाले इंद्र ने चुमुरि, पिप्रु, शंबर, शुष्ण एवं धुनि नामक राक्षसों को मारा है. वे उनके नगरों को गिराने एवं उन शन्रुओं को मारने के लिए शीघ्र काम करते हैं. (८)
EN English Translation
They never deviate from duty in the Battle of Indra and do not give rise to false things. Indra, with the famous name, has killed the demons named Chumuri, Pipru, Shambar, Shushna and Dhuni. They work quickly to demolish their cities and kill those struts. (8)
उ॒दाव॑ता॒ त्वक्ष॑सा॒ पन्य॑सा च वृत्र॒हत्या॑य॒ रथ॑मिन्द्र तिष्ठ । धि॒ष्व वज्रं॒ हस्त॒ आ द॑क्षिण॒त्राभि प्र म॑न्द पुरुदत्र मा॒याः ॥ (९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे उन्नतशील एवं शत्रुनाशक बल से युक्त इंद्र! तुम वृत्र को मारने के लिए रथ पर बैठो एवं अपने दाहिने हाथ में वज्र धारण करो. हे विशाल धन के स्वामी इंद्र! तुम असुरों की माया को समाप्त करो. (९)
EN English Translation
O Indra with advanced and anti-hostile force! Sit on the chariot to kill the vritra and hold a thunderbolt in your right hand. O Lord of vast wealth Indra! You end the maya of the asuras. (9)
अ॒ग्निर्न शुष्कं॒ वन॑मिन्द्र हे॒ती रक्षो॒ नि ध॑क्ष्य॒शनि॒र्न भी॒मा । ग॒म्भी॒रय॑ ऋ॒ष्वया॒ यो रु॒रोजाध्वा॑नयद्दुरि॒ता द॒म्भय॑च्च ॥ (१०)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे वज्र के समान भयानक इंद्र! अग्नि जिस प्रकार सूखे वन को जला देती है, उसी प्रकार तुम अपने वज्र से राक्षसों को जलाओ. इंद्र ने अपराजित एवं महान् वज्र द्वारा शत्रुओं को नष्ट किया. संग्राम में गर्जन करने वाले इंद्र शत्रुओं का भेदन करते हैं. (१०)
EN English Translation
O Indra as terrible as thunderbolt! Just as agni burns a dry forest, so do you burn demons with your thunderbolt. Indra destroyed the enemies by the undefeated and the great vajra. Indra, who roars in the battle, penetrates the enemies. (10)
आ स॒हस्रं॑ प॒थिभि॑रिन्द्र रा॒या तुवि॑द्युम्न तुवि॒वाजे॑भिर॒र्वाक् । या॒हि सू॑नो सहसो॒ यस्य॒ नू चि॒ददे॑व॒ ईशे॑ पुरुहूत॒ योतोः॑ ॥ (११)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे बहुधनसंपन्न, बल के पुत्र एवं बहुतों द्वारा पुकारे गए इंद्र! कोई भी असुर तुम्हें बलरहित नहीं कर सकता. तुम धनयुक्त होकर हजारों सवारियों द्वारा शीघ्र हमारे सामने आओ. (११)
EN English Translation
O rich man, the son of force and indra called by many! No asura can force you. You come before us quickly by thousands of riders with wealthy. (11)
प्र तु॑विद्यु॒म्नस्य॒ स्थवि॑रस्य॒ घृष्वे॑र्दि॒वो र॑रप्शे महि॒मा पृ॑थि॒व्याः । नास्य॒ शत्रु॒र्न प्र॑ति॒मान॑मस्ति॒ न प्र॑ति॒ष्ठिः पु॑रुमा॒यस्य॒ सह्योः॑ ॥ (१२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
परम यशस्वी, उन्नतिशील एवं शत्रुपराभवकारी इंद्र की महिमा धरती-आकाश से भी महान् है. अधिक बुद्धि वाले एवं शत्रुनाशक इंद्र को न कोई मारने वाला है, न समानता करने वाला है और न आश्रय है. (१२)
EN English Translation
The glory of the most successful, progressive and hostile Indra is greater than the earth and the sky. There is no one to kill, nor equalize, nor shelter Indra, who is more intelligent and hostile. (12)
प्र तत्ते॑ अ॒द्या कर॑णं कृ॒तं भू॒त्कुत्सं॒ यदा॒युम॑तिथि॒ग्वम॑स्मै । पु॒रू स॒हस्रा॒ नि शि॑शा अ॒भि क्षामुत्तूर्व॑याणं धृष॒ता नि॑नेथ ॥ (१३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! आज तुम्हारा वह कर्म प्रकाशित होता है. तुमने शुष्ण असुर से कुत्स को, शत्रुओं से आयु एवं दिवोदास को बचाया था. तुमने अतिथिग्व राजा को शंबर राक्षस का धन दिलाया. हे इंद्र! तुम्हारे पराभवकारी वज्र ने शंबर को मारकर धरती पर तेज चलने वाले दिवोदास को विपत्ति से बचाया. (१३)
EN English Translation
O Indra! Today that deed of yours is published. You saved Kuts from shushna asura, Age from enemies and Divodas. You gave the king the wealth of the shambar monster. O Indra! Your defeating vajra killed Shambar and saved Divodas, who was fast on earth, from adversity. (13)
अनु॒ त्वाहि॑घ्ने॒ अध॑ देव दे॒वा मद॒न्विश्वे॑ क॒वित॑मं कवी॒नाम् । करो॒ यत्र॒ वरि॑वो बाधि॒ताय॑ दि॒वे जना॑य त॒न्वे॑ गृणा॒नः ॥ (१४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! सभी स्तोता इस समय मेघ का भेदन करने के लिए तुझ परम मेधावी की स्तुति कर रहे हैं. तुम स्तुतियां सुनकर उसी समय दरिद्र तथा पीड़ित यजमान एवं उसकी संतान को धन देते हो. (१४)
EN English Translation
O Indra! All the psalms are praising your ultimate genius for penetrating the cloud at this time. At the same time, you hear praises and give money to the poor and suffering host and his children. (14)
अनु॒ द्यावा॑पृथि॒वी तत्त॒ ओजोऽम॑र्त्या जिहत इन्द्र दे॒वाः । कृ॒ष्वा कृ॑त्नो॒ अकृ॑तं॒ यत्ते॒ अस्त्यु॒क्थं नवी॑यो जनयस्व य॒ज्ञैः ॥ (१५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! धरती, आकाश एवं मरणरहित समस्त देव तुम्हारे बल को स्वीकार करते हैं. हे बहुकर्मकर्ता इंद्र! तुम अपना अनकिया काम करो. इसके बाद तुम यज्ञों में अधिक नवीन स्तोत्र को जन्म दो. (१५)
EN English Translation
O Indra! All the gods on earth, sky, and without death accept your strength. O multi-worker Indra! You do your undecided work. After this, you give birth to a more new hymn in the yagnas. (15)
