प्र से॑ना॒नीः शूरो॒ अग्रे॒ रथा॑नां ग॒व्यन्ने॑ति॒ हर्ष॑ते अस्य॒ सेना॑ । भ॒द्रान्कृ॒ण्वन्नि॑न्द्रह॒वान्सखि॑भ्य॒ आ सोमो॒ वस्त्रा॑ रभ॒सानि॑ दत्ते ॥ (१)

सेनापति एवं शूर सोम शत्रुओं की गाएं पाने की इच्छा करते हुए युद्ध में रथों के आगे जाते हैं. इससे सोम की सेना प्रसन्न होती है. सोम इंद्र के आहवानों को अपने मित्र यजमानों के लिए कल्याणकारी बनाते हुए दूध आदि ग्रहण करते हैं. दूध आदि इंद्र के शीघ्र आगमन के कारण हैं. (१)
EN English Translation
The general and the shur som go in front of the chariots in the battle, wishing to get the songs of the enemies. This pleases Som's army. Som takes indra's aavaan, making them beneficial for his friend hosts, and milk etc. Milk etc. are the reasons for the early arrival of Indra. (1)
सम॑स्य॒ हरिं॒ हर॑यो मृजन्त्यश्वह॒यैरनि॑शितं॒ नमो॑भिः । आ ति॑ष्ठति॒ रथ॒मिन्द्र॑स्य॒ सखा॑ वि॒द्वाँ ए॑ना सुम॒तिं या॒त्यच्छ॑ ॥ (२)

उंगलियां हरे रंग वाले सोम का रस निचोड़ती हैं. सोम अपनी व्याप्त एवं नमित बनाने वाली किरणों के साथ दशापवित्र रूप असंस्कृत रथ में बैठते हैं. इसके बाद इंद्र के मित्र एवं विद्वान् सोम दशापवित्र से चलकर उत्तम स्तुतियों वाले स्तोता के पास पहुंचते हैं. (२)
EN English Translation
The fingers squeeze the juice of the green colored mon. Som sits in the descructified chariot in the form of Dashapavitra with his pervading and moistening rays. After this, Indra's friend and scholar som walks from Dashapavittra to the stota with the best praises. (2)
स नो॑ देव दे॒वता॑ते पवस्व म॒हे सो॑म॒ प्सर॑स इन्द्र॒पानः॑ । कृ॒ण्वन्न॒पो व॒र्षय॒न्द्यामु॒तेमामु॒रोरा नो॑ वरिवस्या पुना॒नः ॥ (३)

हे दीप्तिशाली एवं इंद्र के पीने योग्य सोम! तुम देवों द्वारा विस्तृत हमारे यज्ञ में इंद्र के उत्तम पान के लिए निचुड़ो. हे जल उत्पन्न करने वाले, द्यावा-पृथिवी को वर्षा से भिगाने वाले, विस्तृत अंतरिक्ष से आते हुए एवं विशुद्ध होते हुए सोम! तुम धन आदि देकर हमारी सेवा करो. (३)
EN English Translation
O glitzy and drinkable mon of Indra! You nichud for the best paan of Indra in our yajna detailed by the gods. O som, the water-maker, who dries the earth with rain, comes from vast space and is pure! You serve us by giving money etc. (3)
अजी॑त॒येऽह॑तये पवस्व स्व॒स्तये॑ स॒र्वता॑तये बृह॒ते । तदु॑शन्ति॒ विश्व॑ इ॒मे सखा॑य॒स्तद॒हं व॑श्मि पवमान सोम ॥ (४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे सोम! हमारी विजय, अविनाश, अहिंसा एवं यज्ञ के लिए हमारे सामने आओ. मेरे सब मित्र तुम्हारी रक्षा चाहते हैं. हे पवमान सोम! मैं भी तुम्हारी रक्षा चाहता हूं. (४)
EN English Translation
Hey Mon! Come before us for our victory, indestructible, non-violence and yajna. All my friends want to protect you. O Pawman Mon! I want to protect you too. (4)
सोमः॑ पवते जनि॒ता म॑ती॒नां ज॑नि॒ता दि॒वो ज॑नि॒ता पृ॑थि॒व्याः । ज॒नि॒ताग्नेर्ज॑नि॒ता सूर्य॑स्य जनि॒तेन्द्र॑स्य जनि॒तोत विष्णोः॑ ॥ (५)

स्तुतियों, ्युलोक, पृथ्वी, अग्नि, सूर्य, इंद्र एवं विष्णु को उत्पन्न करने वाले सोम शुद्ध होते हैं. (५)
EN English Translation
The somas that produce the hymns, the yuloks, the earth, the agni, the sun, indra and vishnu are pure. (5)
ब्र॒ह्मा दे॒वानां॑ पद॒वीः क॑वी॒नामृषि॒र्विप्रा॑णां महि॒षो मृ॒गाणा॑म् । श्ये॒नो गृध्रा॑णां॒ स्वधि॑ति॒र्वना॑नां॒ सोमः॑ प॒वित्र॒मत्ये॑ति॒ रेभ॑न् ॥ (६)

ऋत्विजों के ब्रह्मा, कवियों की पदरचना करने वाले, बुद्धिमानों के ऋषि, जंगली जानवरों के भैंसे, पक्षियों के बाज एवं अस्त्रों के स्वधिति सोम शब्द करते हुए दशापवित्र से पार जाते हैं. (६)
EN English Translation
Brahma of the Ritvijas, the masters of the poets, the sages of the wise, the buffaloes of wild animals, the hawks of birds and the swadhiti of the weapons, go beyond the Dashapavitra, saying the word 'Som'. (6)
प्रावी॑विपद्वा॒च ऊ॒र्मिं न सिन्धु॒र्गिरः॒ सोमः॒ पव॑मानो मनी॒षाः । अ॒न्तः पश्य॑न्वृ॒जने॒माव॑रा॒ण्या ति॑ष्ठति वृष॒भो गोषु॑ जा॒नन् ॥ (७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
शुद्ध होते हुए सोम लहरों वाली नदी के समान मन से उत्पन्न स्तुतियों को प्रेरित करते हैं. जल बरसाने वाले एवं गायों को जानने वाले सोम छिपी हुई वस्तुओं को देखते हुए दुर्बलों द्वारा निवारण न करने योग्य बल का सहारा लेते हैं. (७)
EN English Translation
Being purified inspires the hymns generated by the mind like a river with waves. Som, who showers water and knows cows, resorts to an unavoidable force by the weak, in view of the hidden objects. (7)
स म॑त्स॒रः पृ॒त्सु व॒न्वन्नवा॑तः स॒हस्र॑रेता अ॒भि वाज॑मर्ष । इन्द्रा॑येन्दो॒ पव॑मानो मनी॒ष्यं१॒॑शोरू॒र्मिमी॑रय॒ गा इ॑ष॒ण्यन् ॥ (८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे मदकारक, युद्धों में शत्रुओं का नाश करने वाले, प्राप्त न होने वाले एवं हजारों जलधाराओं वाले सोम! शत्रुओं की शक्ति पर अधिकार करो. हे शुद्ध होते हुए एवं बुद्धिमान् सोम! तुम शब्दों को प्रेरित करते हुए अपनी किरणों को इंद्र के पास भेजो. (८)
EN English Translation
O you who are the doers, the destroyers of the enemies in wars, the unsung and the ones with thousands of streams! Take power over enemies. O pure and wise mon! Send your rays to Indra while you inspire the words. (8)
परि॑ प्रि॒यः क॒लशे॑ दे॒ववा॑त॒ इन्द्रा॑य॒ सोमो॒ रण्यो॒ मदा॑य । स॒हस्र॑धारः श॒तवा॑ज॒ इन्दु॑र्वा॒जी न सप्तिः॒ सम॑ना जिगाति ॥ (९)

देवगण रमणीय एवं प्रसन्रतादायक सोम के पास जाते हैं. शक्तिशाली घोड़ा जिस प्रकार युद्ध में जाता है, उसी प्रकार अनेक धाराओं वाले, अत्यंत बलशाली एवं टपकने वाले सोम इंद्र को नशा करने के लिए द्रोणकलश में जाते हैं. (९)
EN English Translation
The devas go to the delightful and refreshing Mon. Just as the mighty horse goes into battle, so the many-streamed, extremely powerful and dripping Som goes to Dronakalash to intoxicate Indra. (9)
स पू॒र्व्यो व॑सु॒विज्जाय॑मानो मृजा॒नो अ॒प्सु दु॑दुहा॒नो अद्रौ॑ । अ॒भि॒श॒स्ति॒पा भुव॑नस्य॒ राजा॑ वि॒दद्गा॒तुं ब्रह्म॑णे पू॒यमा॑नः ॥ (१०)

प्राचीन, धन प्राप्त करने वाले, जन्म लेते ही जल में शुद्ध होने वाले, पत्थरों की सहायता से निचुड़ने वाले, शत्रुओं से रक्षा करने वाले, प्राणियों के राजा एवं यज्ञकर्म के लिए निचुड़ने वाले सोम यजमानों के मार्ग बताते हैं. (१०)
EN English Translation
The ancients, the gainers of wealth, who are cleansed in the water as soon as they are born, those who are disposed of with the help of stones, those who protect from enemies, the king of beings, and those who leave for the yagnakarma, the ways of the soma hosts. (10)
त्वया॒ हि नः॑ पि॒तरः॑ सोम॒ पूर्वे॒ कर्मा॑णि च॒क्रुः प॑वमान॒ धीराः॑ । व॒न्वन्नवा॑तः परि॒धीँरपो॑र्णु वी॒रेभि॒रश्वै॑र्म॒घवा॑ भवा नः ॥ (११)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे पवमान सोम! हमारे कर्मकुशल पितरों ने तुम्हारी सहायता से ही यज्ञकर्म किए थे. तुम वेगशाली अश्वों की सहायता से शत्रुओं को नष्ट करते हुए राक्षसों को दूर हटाओ तथा हमारे लिए धनदाता बनो. (११)
EN English Translation
O Pawman Mon! Our karmic fathers performed yajnakarmas with your help. With the help of the mighty horses, remove the demons by destroying the enemies and be the giver of wealth to us. (11)
यथाप॑वथा॒ मन॑वे वयो॒धा अ॑मित्र॒हा व॑रिवो॒विद्ध॒विष्मा॑न् । ए॒वा प॑वस्व॒ द्रवि॑णं॒ दधा॑न॒ इन्द्रे॒ सं ति॑ष्ठ ज॒नयायु॑धानि ॥ (१२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे सोम! तुम प्राचीनकाल में जिस प्रकार मनु के लिए अन्न देने वाले, शन्रुसंहारकर्ता, धनदाता एवं पुरोडाशादिदाता बने थे, उसी प्रकार हमें भी धन देने के लिए आओ, इंद्र के समीप ठहरो एवं उन्हें आयुध दो. (१२)
EN English Translation
Hey Mon! Just as you became the giver of food for Manu in ancient times, the destroyer, the giver of money and the purodashadideta, so also come to give us money, stay near Indra and give him arms. (12)
पव॑स्व सोम॒ मधु॑माँ ऋ॒तावा॒पो वसा॑नो॒ अधि॒ सानो॒ अव्ये॑ । अव॒ द्रोणा॑नि घृ॒तवा॑न्ति सीद म॒दिन्त॑मो मत्स॒र इ॑न्द्र॒पानः॑ ॥ (१३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे नशीले रस से युक्त एवं यज्ञस्वामी सोम! तुम जल में रहते हुए भेड़ के बालों से बने दशापवित्ररूप ऊंचे स्थान पर छनो. हे अत्यंत मादक, इंद्र के पीने योग्य एवं नशीले सोम! तुम जलों के साथ द्रोणकलश में ठहरो. (१३)
EN English Translation
O narcotic juice and Yagyaswamy Som! While you are in the water, you sprinkle on a high place made of sheep's hair. O very intoxicating, Indra's drinkable and intoxicating Mon! You stay in dronakalash with the waters. (13)
वृ॒ष्टिं दि॒वः श॒तधा॑रः पवस्व सहस्र॒सा वा॑ज॒युर्दे॒ववी॑तौ । सं सिन्धु॑भिः क॒लशे॑ वावशा॒नः समु॒स्रिया॑भिः प्रति॒रन्न॒ आयुः॑ ॥ (१४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अनेक धाराओं वाले, यज्ञ में यजमानों को हजारों धन देने वाले एवं यजमानों के अन्न की अभिलाषा करने वाले सोम! तुम आकाश से वर्षा करो एवं हमारी आयु को बढ़ाते हुए द्रोणकलश में जल एवं गोदुग्ध से मिलो. (१४)
EN English Translation
O som of many streams, who gives thousands of money to the hosts in the yagna and desires the food of the hosts! You should rain from the sky and meet the water and the god in dronakalash, increasing our life. (14)
ए॒ष स्य सोमो॑ म॒तिभिः॑ पुना॒नोऽत्यो॒ न वा॒जी तर॒तीदरा॑तीः । पयो॒ न दु॒ग्धमदि॑तेरिषि॒रमु॒र्वि॑व गा॒तुः सु॒यमो॒ न वोळ्हा॑ ॥ (१५)

सोम स्तोत्रों के साथ शुद्ध किए जाते हैं एवं गतिशील अश्व के समान शत्रुओं को लांघकर जाते हैं. वे गाय के दूध के समान शुद्ध, विस्तृत मार्ग के समान आश्रय योग्य एवं बोझा ढोने वाले घोड़े के समान स्तोताओं के नियंत्रण में रहते हैं. (१५)
EN English Translation
The mons are purified with hymns and overtake the enemies like a moving horse. They live under the control of the stoses like a pure cow's milk, sheltered as a wide passage and a loaded horse. (15)
स्वा॒यु॒धः सो॒तृभिः॑ पू॒यमा॑नो॒ऽभ्य॑र्ष॒ गुह्यं॒ चारु॒ नाम॑ । अ॒भि वाजं॒ सप्ति॑रिव श्रव॒स्याभि वा॒युम॒भि गा दे॑व सोम ॥ (१६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे शोभन आयुध वाले एवं ऋत्विजो द्वारा शुद्ध किए जाते हुए सोम! तुम अपने छिपे हुए एवं सुंदर रसात्मक रूप को धारण करो. हमें जब अन्न की अभिलाषा हो, तब तुम हमें अन्न दो. हे सोमदेव! तुम हमें जीवन एवं गाएं दो. (१६)
EN English Translation
O Shobhan Warriors and being purified by Ritvizo Mon! You wear your hidden and beautiful juicy form. When we desire food, give us food. O Somdev! You give us life and sing. (16)
शिशुं॑ जज्ञा॒नं ह॑र्य॒तं मृ॑जन्ति शु॒म्भन्ति॒ वह्निं॑ म॒रुतो॑ ग॒णेन॑ । क॒विर्गी॒र्भिः काव्ये॑ना क॒विः सन्सोमः॑ प॒वित्र॒मत्ये॑ति॒ रेभ॑न् ॥ (१७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
मरुद्गण शिशु के समान स्थित, उत्पन्न एवं सबके द्वारा अभिलषित सोम को मसलते हैं तथा फलवाहक सोम को अपने सात गणों द्वारा सुशोभित करते हैं. मेधावी एवं कविकर्म द्वारा कवि कहलाने वाले सोम शब्द करते हुए एवं स्तुतियां सुनते हुए दशापवित्र को लांघकर जाते हैं. (१७)
EN English Translation
The deserts masquerade the soma, born and desired by all, located like the infant, and the fruit-bearers adorn the som with their seven ganas. The meritorious and the poets, who are called poets by the poet, go to dashapavitra while doing the words and listening to the praises. (17)
ऋषि॑मना॒ य ऋ॑षि॒कृत्स्व॒र्षाः स॒हस्र॑णीथः पद॒वीः क॑वी॒नाम् । तृ॒तीयं॒ धाम॑ महि॒षः सिषा॑स॒न्सोमो॑ वि॒राज॒मनु॑ राजति॒ ष्टुप् ॥ (१८)

ऋषियों के समान मन से सब कुछ देखने वाले, सबके द्रष्टा, सबको प्राप्त होने वाले, हजारों के द्वारा प्रशंसित, कवियों की शब्दरचना पूर्ण करने वाले एवं परमपूज्य सोम द्युलोक में रहने की अभिलाषा करते हैं तथा प्रशंसित होकर दीप्तिशाली इंद्र को प्रकाशित करते हैं. (१८)
EN English Translation
Those who see everything with the same mind as the sages, the seers of all, those who are received by everyone, admired by thousands, who complete the wording of poets and param pujya Som, desire to live in dulok and is admired and illuminates the glorious Indra. (18)
च॒मू॒षच्छ्ये॒नः श॑कु॒नो वि॒भृत्वा॑ गोवि॒न्दुर्द्र॒प्स आयु॑धानि॒ बिभ्र॑त् । अ॒पामू॒र्मिं सच॑मानः समु॒द्रं तु॒रीयं॒ धाम॑ महि॒षो वि॑वक्ति ॥ (१९)

चमू नामक पात्रों में वर्तमान, प्रशंसायोग्य, शक्तिशाली, पात्रों में विहार करने वाले, यजमानों को गाय प्राप्त कराने वाले, आयुधधारणकर्तता, जल के प्रेरक, समुद्र की सेवा स्वीकार करने वाले एवं महान् सोम चतुर्थ धाम अर्थात् चंद्रलोक का सेवन करते है. (१९)
EN English Translation
The characters named Chamu include the present, the praiseworthy, the powerful, the wanderers in the characters, those who get the cow to the hosts, the ordnance duty, the instigators of water, those who accept the service of the sea and the Great Som iv Dham, i.e. Chandralok. (19)
मर्यो॒ न शु॒भ्रस्त॒न्वं॑ मृजा॒नोऽत्यो॒ न सृत्वा॑ स॒नये॒ धना॑नाम् । वृषे॑व यू॒था परि॒ कोश॒मर्ष॒न्कनि॑क्रदच्च॒म्वो॒३॒॑रा वि॑वेश ॥ (२०)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
अलंकृत शरीर वाले मनुष्य के समान अपने शरीर को शुद्ध करते हुए, धन पाने के लिए गतिशील घोड़े के समान चलने वाले, गोसमूह से मिलने वाले बैल के समान शब्द करने वाले एवं पात्र में जाते हुए सोम शब्द करते हुए बार-बार चमू नामक पात्रों पर बैठते हैं. (२०)

Purifying his body like a man with an ornate body, walking like a moving horse to get wealth, those who speak like a bull from a group of cows, and the word som, going to the pot, sit on the characters called Chamu again and again. (20)
पव॑स्वेन्दो॒ पव॑मानो॒ महो॑भिः॒ कनि॑क्रद॒त्परि॒ वारा॑ण्यर्ष । क्रीळ॑ञ्च॒म्वो॒३॒॑रा वि॑श पू॒यमा॑न॒ इन्द्रं॑ ते॒ रसो॑ मदि॒रो म॑मत्तु ॥ (२१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे सोम! ऋत्विजों द्वारा शुद्ध होकर टपको एवं बार-बार शब्द करते हुए भेड़ के बालों से बने दशापवित्र में जाओ. तुम क्रीड़ा करते हुए चमू नामक पात्रो में प्रवेश करो. तुम्हारा नशीला रस इंद्र को प्रमुदित करे. (२१)

Hey Mon! Cleanse by the ritwijas, tapco and go to the dashapavitra made of sheep's hair by saying words again and again. Enter the characters named Chamu while you play. May your intoxicating juices make Indra merry. (21)
प्रास्य॒ धारा॑ बृह॒तीर॑सृग्रन्न॒क्तो गोभिः॑ क॒लशा॒ँ आ वि॑वेश । साम॑ कृ॒ण्वन्सा॑म॒न्यो॑ विप॒श्चित्क्रन्द॑न्नेत्य॒भि सख्यु॒र्न जा॒मिम् ॥ (२२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
सोम की बड़ी-बड़ी धाराएं निर्मित की जाती हैं. गाय के दूध, दही आदि से मिलकर सोम द्रोणकलशों में प्रवेश करते हैं. सामगान में कुशल एवं सब जानने वाले सोम साममंत्रों को गाते हुए इस प्रकार पात्रों में जाते हैं, जिस प्रकार लंपट मनुष्य अपने मित्र की पत्नी के पास जाता है. (२२)
EN English Translation
Large streams of mon are created. The soms consisting of cow's milk, curd etc. enter the dronakalshas. The skilled and all-knowing Som in the samagana goes into the characters while singing the sammantras, just as the lustful man goes to his friend's wife. (22)
अ॒प॒घ्नन्ने॑षि पवमान॒ शत्रू॑न्प्रि॒यां न जा॒रो अ॒भिगी॑त॒ इन्दुः॑ । सीद॒न्वने॑षु शकु॒नो न पत्वा॒ सोमः॑ पुना॒नः क॒लशे॑षु॒ सत्ता॑ ॥ (२३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे शुद्ध होते हुए व स्तोताओं द्वारा प्रशंसित सोम! तुम शत्रुओं का नाश करते हुए इस प्रकार आते हो, जिस प्रकार यार अपनी प्रेयसी के पास जाता है. जिस प्रकार उड़ने वाला पक्षी वनवृक्षों पर बैठता है, उसी प्रकार सोम कलशों में स्थित होते हैं. (२३)
EN English Translation
Being pure and admired by the stoyas, Mon! You come to destroy your enemies in the same way that a man goes to his beloved. Just as the flying bird sits on the forest trees, so the somas are located in the kalash. (23)
आ ते॒ रुचः॒ पव॑मानस्य सोम॒ योषे॑व यन्ति सु॒दुघाः॑ सुधा॒राः । हरि॒रानी॑तः पुरु॒वारो॑ अ॒प्स्वचि॑क्रदत्क॒लशे॑ देवयू॒नाम् ॥ (२४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे शुद्ध होते हुए सोम! पुत्र के निमित्त दूध पिलाने वाली स्त्रियों के समान यजमानों के लिए धन देने वाली एवं शोभन धाराओं वाली दीप्तियां पात्रों में जाती हैं. हरे रंग वाले, ऋत्विजों द्वारा लाए गए एवं अनेक जनों द्वारा वरण करने योग्य सोम जल में एवं देवाभिलाषी यजमानों के घर में बार-बार शब्द करते हैं. (२४)
EN English Translation
O you are pure, Mon! Like the women who feed for the sake of the son, the lamps that give money to the hosts and have a stream of adornment go into the characters. The green ones, brought by the Ritvizs and chosen by many people, chant the som in the water and in the house of the devabhilashi hosts, say the words again and again. (24)
