Description

The Vishnu Sahasranama (1000 Names of Vishnu) is one of the most sacred prayers in Hinduism. It appears in the Anushasana Parva of the Mahabharata, where Bhishma Pitamah, lying on the bed of arrows, reveals the 1000 names of Lord Vishnu to Yudhishthira.

Each name describes a divine quality of Lord Vishnu, and the recitation of these names is believed to bestow peace, prosperity, and spiritual progress. The text has been extensively commented upon by Adi Shankaracharya and Parasara Bhattar.

This edition includes the complete Sanskrit text, transliteration, meaning of each name, and Hindi commentary.
