इ॒मां ख॑ना॒म्योष॑धिं वी॒रुधां॒ बल॑वत्तमाम् । यया॑ स॒पत्नीं॒ बाध॑ते॒ यया॑ संवि॒न्दते॒ पति॑म् ॥ (१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
पाठा नाम की इस लता रूपी जड़ीबूटी को मैं खोदता हूं जो सभी जड़ीबूटियों से अधिक बलवान है. इस जड़ीबूटी के द्वारा सीत को बाधा पहुंचती है तथा इसे धारण करने वाली स्त्री पति को प्राप्त करती है. (१)
EN English Translation
I dig up this vine-like herb called Patha, which is stronger. Seet is hindered by this herb and it is beneficial to wear it. A woman who wears patha finds her husband. (1)
उत्ता॑नपर्णे॒ सुभ॑गे॒ देव॑जूते॒ सह॑स्वति । स॒पत्नीं॑ मे॒ परा॑ णुद॒ पतिं॑ मे॒ केव॑लं कृधि ॥ (२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे ऊपर की ओर मुख वाले पत्तों से युक्त जड़ीबूटी पाठा! तू इंद्र आदि देवों की कृपा से मुझे प्राप्त हुई है. तू मेरी सौत को पराजित करने वाली है. तू मेरी सौत को मेरे पति से दूर ले जा और मेरे पति को केवल मेरा बना. (२)
EN English Translation
O herb with upward-facing leaves! You have received me by the grace of Indra etc. gods. You are going to defeat my stepmother. You take my step away from my husband and make my husband mine only. (2)
न॒हि ते॒ नाम॑ ज॒ग्राह॒ नो अ॒स्मिन्र॑मसे॒ पतौ॑ । परा॑मे॒व प॑रा॒वतं॑ स॒पत्नीं॑ गमयामसि ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे सौत! मैं तेरा नाम कभी नहीं लेना चाहती. मेरे पति के साथ तू रमण मत कर. मैं तुझे बहुत दूर भेज रही हूं. (३)
EN English Translation
O saut! I never want to take your name. Don't be happy with my husband. I'm sending you too far. (3)
उत्त॑रा॒हमु॑त्तर॒ उत्त॒रेदुत्त॑राभ्यः । अ॒धः स॒पत्नी॒ या ममाध॑रा॒ साध॑राभ्यः ॥ (४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे सभी जड़ीबूटियों में श्रेष्ठ पाठा! मैं अधिक श्रेष्ठ बनूं. लोक में जो अधिक श्रेष्ठ स्त्रियां हैं, मैं उन से भी अधिक श्रेष्ठ बनू. मेरी जो सौत है, वह अति नीच नारियों से भी नीच बने. (४)
EN English Translation
O best of all herbs! Let me be better. I should be better than the more superior women in the world. My step-up should be inferior to the most lowly women. (4)
अ॒हम॑स्मि॒ सह॑मा॒नाथो॒ त्वम॑सि सास॒हिः । उ॒भे सह॑स्वती भू॒त्वा स॒पत्नीं॑ मे सहावहै ॥ (५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे पाठा नामक जड़ीबूटी! मैं तेरी कृपा से अपनी सौतों को पराजित करने वाली बनूं और तू भी श्रुओं का तिरस्कार करने में समर्थ हो. इस प्रकार हम दोनों शन्रुओं को पराजित करने वाली बने. मैं अपनी सौत को पराजित करूं. (५)
EN English Translation
This is a herb called Patha! By Your grace, I will be the one who defeats my sons and you too may be able to despise the curses. In this way, we became the ones to defeat both the nerves. Let me defeat my sauta. (5)
अ॒भि ते॑ऽधां॒ सह॑माना॒मुप॑ तेऽधां॒ सही॑यसीम् । मामनु॒ प्र ते॒ मनो॑ व॒त्सं गौरि॑व धावतु प॒था वारि॑व धावतु ॥ (६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे सौत! मैं तेरे पलंग के चारों ओर तथा पलंग के ऊपर इस पराजित करने वाली पाठा नाम की जड़ीबूटी को रखती हूं. थनों से दूध टपकाती हुई गाय जिस प्रकार बछड़े की ओर दौड़ती है तथा जल जिस प्रकार नीचे की ओर बहता है, उसी प्रकार तू मेरे पीछेपीछे चल. (६)
EN English Translation
O saut! I place this defeating herb called Patha around your bed and on top of your bed. Just as a cow dripping milk from the udder runs towards the calf and the water flows downwards, so follow me. (6)
