नास॑दासी॒न्नो सदा॑सीत्त॒दानीं॒ नासी॒द्रजो॒ नो व्यो॑मा प॒रो यत् । किमाव॑रीवः॒ कुह॒ कस्य॒ शर्म॒न्नम्भः॒ किमा॑सी॒द्गह॑नं गभी॒रम् ॥ (१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
प्रलय की दशा में न असत् था और न सत् था. उस समय न लोक थे और न अंतरिक्ष था. न कोई आवरण था और न ढकने योग्य पदार्थ था. कहीं भी न कोई प्राणी था और न कोई सुख पहुंचाने वाला भोग था. उस समय गहन गंभीर जल भी नहीं था. (१)
EN English Translation
There was neither truth nor untruth in the begining. At that time there was no realm of existence and no space. There was no covering and nothing to be covered. There was no being anywhere, and there was no pleasure. At that time there was not even water. (1)
न मृ॒त्युरा॑सीद॒मृतं॒ न तर्हि॒ न रात्र्या॒ अह्न॑ आसीत्प्रके॒तः । आनी॑दवा॒तं स्व॒धया॒ तदेकं॒ तस्मा॑द्धा॒न्यन्न प॒रः किं च॒नास॑ ॥ (२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
उस समय न मृत्यु थी और न अमृत था. न रात्रि थी और न दिन का ज्ञान ल उस समय एकमात्र ब्रह्मा ही स्वधा के साथ प्राणयुक्त था. उससे बढ़कर अन्य कुछ भी नहीं था. (२)
EN English Translation
At that time there was neither death nor nectar. There was no night, nor the knowledge of the day, at that time, brahma was the only one who was alive with swadha. There was nothing more than that. (2)
तम॑ आसी॒त्तम॑सा गू॒ळ्हमग्रे॑ऽप्रके॒तं स॑लि॒लं सर्व॑मा इ॒दम् । तु॒च्छ्येना॒भ्वपि॑हितं॒ यदासी॒त्तप॑स॒स्तन्म॑हि॒नाजा॑य॒तैक॑म् ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
प्रलय दशा में सब कुछ अंधकार से घिरा हुआ था एवं सब ओर अंधकार था. यह सारा दृश्यमान जगत् जल के रूप में अज्ञात था. सारा विश्व तुच्छ अंधकार से ढका था. महान् तप से कारणकार्यरूप विभाग से रहित ब्रह्म उत्पन्न हुआ. (३)
EN English Translation
In the begining, everything was surrounded by darkness and there was darkness everywhere. The whole world was unknown as water. The whole world was covered with insignificant darkness. Due to great penance, brahma appeared without any effort. (3)
काम॒स्तदग्रे॒ सम॑वर्त॒ताधि॒ मन॑सो॒ रेतः॑ प्रथ॒मं यदासी॑त् । स॒तो बन्धु॒मस॑ति॒ निर॑विन्दन्हृ॒दि प्र॒तीष्या॑ क॒वयो॑ मनी॒षा ॥ (४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
परमेश्वर के मन में सबसे पहले सृष्टिरचना की इच्छा उत्पन्न हुई. वही सबसे पहले मन में सृष्टि का बीज बनी. विद्वानों ने बुद्धि से हदय में विचार किया एवं असत् में सत् के कारण को खोजा. (४)
EN English Translation
The first thing that arose in Supreme being's mind was the desire to create creation. The desire in supreme being's mind first became the seed of creation. The scholars in the heart with wisdom, sought the cause of the truth. (4)
ति॒र॒श्चीनो॒ वित॑तो र॒श्मिरे॑षाम॒धः स्वि॑दा॒सी३दु॒परि॑ स्विदासी३त् । रे॒तो॒धा आ॑सन्महि॒मान॑ आसन्स्व॒धा अ॒वस्ता॒त्प्रय॑तिः प॒रस्ता॑त् ॥ (५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
आकाश आदि की सृष्टि करने वाले परमात्मा के तेज की किरणें क्या तिरछी थीं, नीचे की ओर थीं अथवा ऊपर की ओर थीं? बीजरूप कर्म को धारण करने वाले जीव थे एवं महान् आकाश आदि भोग्य थे. उस समय अन्न निकृष्ट एवं भोक्ता उत्कृष्ट था. (५)
EN English Translation
Were the rays of the glory of the Divine, which created the sky, etc., slanted, downwards or upwards? The beings possessing seeds of karma and the great sky etc. were enjoyable. At that time the food was abject and the beings were excellent. (5)
को अ॒द्धा वे॑द॒ क इ॒ह प्र वो॑च॒त्कुत॒ आजा॑ता॒ कुत॑ इ॒यं विसृ॑ष्टिः । अ॒र्वाग्दे॒वा अ॒स्य वि॒सर्ज॑ने॒नाथा॒ को वे॑द॒ यत॑ आब॒भूव॑ ॥ (६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
कौन संपूर्ण रूप से जानता है और कौन इस सृष्टि के विषय में कह सकता है? यह सृष्टि किन-किन कारणों से उत्पन्न हुई है? देवगण भूतसृष्टि के बाद उत्पन्न हुए हैं. यह विश्व जिससे उत्पन्न हुआ है, उसे कौन जानता है? (६)
EN English Translation
Who knows fully and who can speak of this creation? What are the reasons for which this creation originated? The devas have originated after the past creation. Who knows how the world appeared, from which it is created? (6)
इ॒यं विसृ॑ष्टि॒र्यत॑ आब॒भूव॒ यदि॑ वा द॒धे यदि॑ वा॒ न । यो अ॒स्याध्य॑क्षः पर॒मे व्यो॑म॒न्सो अ॒ङ्ग वे॑द॒ यदि॑ वा॒ न वेद॑ ॥ (७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
यह विशेष सृष्टि जिससे उत्पन्न हुई है, पता नहीं वह इसे धारण करता है अथवा नहीं. विस्तृत आकाश में जो इस सृष्टि का अध्यक्ष है, पता नहीं वह उसे जानता है या नहीं जानता. (७)
EN English Translation
It is not known whether this particular creation from where it is born, whether the creator holds it or not. He who is in the universe, the creator of this creation, whether knows or not. (7)
