कुह॑ श्रु॒त इन्द्रः॒ कस्मि॑न्न॒द्य जने॑ मि॒त्रो न श्रू॑यते । ऋषी॑णां वा॒ यः क्षये॒ गुहा॑ वा॒ चर्कृ॑षे गि॒रा ॥ (१)

इंद्र आज कहां प्रसिद्ध हैं? आज वे मित्र के समान किस व्यक्ति के पास सुने जाते हैं? क्या इंद्र की स्तुतियां ऋषियों के निवासस्थानों अथवा गुफाओं में की जाती हैं? (१)
EN English Translation
Where is Indra famous today? Today, they are heard near which person like a friend? Are Indra praised in the abodes or caves of the sages? (1)
इ॒ह श्रु॒त इन्द्रो॑ अ॒स्मे अ॒द्य स्तवे॑ व॒ज्र्यृची॑षमः । मि॒त्रो न यो जने॒ष्वा यश॑श्च॒क्रे असा॒म्या ॥ (२)

इंद्र आज इस यज्ञ में प्रसिद्ध हैं. आज हम वज्रधारी एवं स्तुति के योग्य इंद्र की स्तुतियां करते हैं. इंद्र स्तोताओं को मित्र के समान असाधारण यश देने वाले हैं. (२)
EN English Translation
Indra is famous in this yagna today. Today we praise Indra, who is vajradhari and worthy of praise. Indra is going to give the Psalms extraordinary glory like a friend. (2)
म॒हो यस्पतिः॒ शव॑सो॒ असा॒म्या म॒हो नृ॒म्णस्य॑ तूतु॒जिः । भ॒र्ता वज्र॑स्य धृ॒ष्णोः पि॒ता पु॒त्रमि॑व प्रि॒यम् ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
शक्ति के स्वामी, महान्, अनंत गुणयुक्त व स्तोताओं को महान् धन देने वाले इंद्र शत्रुपराभवकारी वज्र धारण करते हैं. पिता जिस प्रकार पुत्र की अभिलषित वस्तु की रक्षा करता है, उसी प्रकार इंद्र हमारी मनचाही वस्तुओं की रक्षा करें. (३)
EN English Translation
Indra, the master of power, the great, the infinite virtuous and the great one to the stoetas, holds the enemy's victorious vajra. Just as the Father protects the Son's desired object, so may Indra protect the things we want. (3)
यु॒जा॒नो अश्वा॒ वात॑स्य॒ धुनी॑ दे॒वो दे॒वस्य॑ वज्रिवः । स्यन्ता॑ प॒था वि॒रुक्म॑ता सृजा॒नः स्तो॒ष्यध्व॑नः ॥ (४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे वज्रधारी एवं दीप्तिशाली इंद्र! तुम दीप्तिशाली, वायु से भी तेज चलने वाले एवं तेजस्वी मार्ग से जाने वाले हरि नामक घोड़ों को रथ में जोड़कर युद्ध में जाने का मार्ग बनाते हुए प्रशंसित होते हो. (४)
EN English Translation
O thunderous and radiant Indra! You are admired by the way to battle by adding the horses named Hari, who walk faster than the wind and go through the brightest way, and the brightest way. (4)
त्वं त्या चि॒द्वात॒स्याश्वागा॑ ऋ॒ज्रा त्मना॒ वह॑ध्यै । ययो॑र्दे॒वो न मर्त्यो॑ य॒न्ता नकि॑र्वि॒दाय्यः॑ ॥ (५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! तुम अपने आप उन वायु वेग से युक्त एवं सरल मार्ग पर चलने वाले घोड़ों को हांकते हुए हमारे सामने आते हो, जिनको हांकने वाला अथवा जिनकी शक्ति जानने वाला देव अथवा मनुष्य कोई भी नहीं है. (५)
EN English Translation
O Indra! You come before us, driving the horses that are wind-speed and walking on a simple path, to whom there is no god or man who knows their power. (5)
अध॒ ग्मन्तो॒शना॑ पृच्छते वां॒ कद॑र्था न॒ आ गृ॒हम् । आ ज॑ग्मथुः परा॒काद्दि॒वश्च॒ ग्मश्च॒ मर्त्य॑म् ॥ (६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र एवं अग्नि! अपने स्थान को जाते हुए तुमसे उशना ऋषि ने पूछा-“तुम लोग किस लिए हमारे घर आए हो? तुम इतनी अधिक दूर झुलोक और धरती से हमारे घर केवल अनुग्रहवश आते हो.” (६)
EN English Translation
O Indra and Agni! On your way to his place, the sage Ushana asked you, "What have you come to our house for?" You fall so far away and come to our house from the earth only out of grace." (6)
आ न॑ इन्द्र पृक्षसे॒ऽस्माकं॒ ब्रह्मोद्य॑तम् । तत्त्वा॑ याचाम॒हेऽवः॒ शुष्णं॒ यद्धन्नमा॑नुषम् ॥ (७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! हमारे द्वारा एकत्रित इस यज्ञ सामग्री का तुम तब तक भक्षण करो, जब तक तुम्हें तृप्ति न मिले. हम तुमसे अन्न, रक्षा एवं ऐसी शक्ति चाहते हैं, जिससे तुम राक्षसों का विनाश करते हो. (७)
EN English Translation
O Indra! Eat this sacrificial material collected by us until you are satisfied. We want from you food, protection, and the power by which you destroy the demons. (7)
अ॒क॒र्मा दस्यु॑र॒भि नो॑ अम॒न्तुर॒न्यव्र॑तो॒ अमा॑नुषः । त्वं तस्या॑मित्रह॒न्वध॑र्दा॒सस्य॑ दम्भय ॥ (८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! हमारे चारों ओर यज्ञकर्म से शून्य, किसी को न मानने वाले, वेदस्तुति के प्रतिकूल कर्म करने वाले एवं मानवोचित व्यवहार से रहित दस्यु हैं. हे शत्रुनाशक इंद्र! तुम शूर मरुतों के साथ हमारी रक्षा करो. (८)
EN English Translation
O Indra! All around us are bandits who are void of yajnakarma, those who do not believe in anyone, who do the opposite deeds of Vedastuti and devoid of humane behaviour. O enemies Indra! You protect us with the shuruta maruts. (8)
त्वं न॑ इन्द्र शूर॒ शूरै॑रु॒त त्वोता॑सो ब॒र्हणा॑ । पु॒रु॒त्रा ते॒ वि पू॒र्तयो॒ नव॑न्त क्षो॒णयो॑ यथा ॥ (९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे शूर इंद्र! तुम शूर मरुतों के साथ हमारी रक्षा करो. तुम्हारे द्वारा रक्षित हम शत्रुविनाश में समर्थ बनें. तुम्हारे दिए हुए अभिलषित पदार्थ स्तोता को इस प्रकार घेरते हैं, जिस प्रकार सेवक अपने स्वामी को घेरते हैं. (९)
EN English Translation
O Shur Indra! You protect us with the shuruta maruts. Protected by you, let us be able to destroy the enemy. The anointed substances you give surround the psalms in such a way that the servants surround their master. (9)
त्वं तान्वृ॑त्र॒हत्ये॑ चोदयो॒ नॄन्का॑र्पा॒णे शू॑र वज्रिवः । गुहा॒ यदी॑ कवी॒नां वि॒शां नक्ष॑त्रशवसाम् ॥ (१०)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे वञ्रधारी एवं शूर इंद्र! तुम युद्ध में शत्रुनाश के लिए प्रसिद्ध मरुतों को उस समय प्रेरित करते हो, जिस समय स्तोताओं की नक्षत्रवासी देवों के प्रति बोली हुई स्तुतियां सुनते हो. (१०)
EN English Translation
O vandhari and shur indra! You inspire the maruts famous for the destruction of enemies in battle at a time when you hear the hymns' hymns spoken to the stars of the stoetas towards the devas. (10)
म॒क्षू ता त॑ इन्द्र दा॒नाप्न॑स आक्षा॒णे शू॑र वज्रिवः । यद्ध॒ शुष्ण॑स्य द॒म्भयो॑ जा॒तं विश्वं॑ स॒याव॑भिः ॥ (११)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे शूर एवं वज्रधारी इंद्र! युद्भक्षेत्र में शीघ्र होने वाले तुम्हारे दान की स्तोता स्तुति करते हैं. तुमने मरुतों को साथ लेकर शुष्ण असुर के पूरे वंश का नाश कर डाला. (११)
EN English Translation
O Shur and Vajradhari Indra! The hymns praise your soon-to-be-made donation in the battlefield. You took the maruts along with you and destroyed the entire lineage of the Shushna Asura. (11)
माकु॒ध्र्य॑गिन्द्र शूर॒ वस्वी॑र॒स्मे भू॑वन्न॒भिष्ट॑यः । व॒यंव॑यं त आसां सु॒म्ने स्या॑म वज्रिवः ॥ (१२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे शूर इंद्र! हमारी महान् प्रार्थनाएं निष्फल न हों. हे वज्रधारी इंद्र! तुम्हारी कृपा से हम सब अभिलाषाएं एवं सुख भोगें. (१२)
EN English Translation
O Shur Indra! Let our great prayers not be fruitless. O thunderbolt Indra! By your grace, may we all enjoy desires and pleasures. (12)
अ॒स्मे ता त॑ इन्द्र सन्तु स॒त्याहिं॑सन्तीरुप॒स्पृशः॑ । वि॒द्याम॒ यासां॒ भुजो॑ धेनू॒नां न व॑ज्रिवः ॥ (१३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! तुम्हारे प्रति की गई हमारी स्तुतियां सच्ची हों एवं तुम्हें कष्ट न दें. हे वज्रधारी इंद्र। लोग जिस प्रकार गायों के दूध का उपभोग करते हैं, उसी प्रकार हम तुम्हारी कृपा से भोगों को प्राप्त करें. (१३)
EN English Translation
O Indra! May our praises for you be true and do not trouble you. O thunderbolt Indra. Just as people consume the milk of cows, let us receive pleasures by your grace. (13)
अ॒ह॒स्ता यद॒पदी॒ वर्ध॑त॒ क्षाः शची॑भिर्वे॒द्याना॑म् । शुष्णं॒ परि॑ प्रदक्षि॒णिद्वि॒श्वाय॑वे॒ नि शि॑श्नथः ॥ (१४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! हाथों और पैरों से विहीन यह धरती देवों की क्रियाओं से ही बढ़ी है. पृथ्वी के चारों ओर स्थित शुष्ण असुर को तुमने इसलिए मारा कि सब लोग चल फिर सकें. (१४)
EN English Translation
O Indra! This earth without hands and feet has grown only by the actions of the gods. You killed the shushna asura around the earth so that everyone could walk. (14)
पिबा॑पि॒बेदि॑न्द्र शूर॒ सोमं॒ मा रि॑षण्यो वसवान॒ वसुः॒ सन् । उ॒त त्रा॑यस्व गृण॒तो म॒घोनो॑ म॒हश्च॑ रा॒यो रे॒वत॑स्कृधी नः ॥ (१५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे शूर इंद्र! तुम सोमरस को जल्दीजल्दी पिओ. हे धनस्वामी इंद्र! तुम प्रसिद्ध होकर हमारी हिंसा मत करना तथा स्तुति करने वाले यजमान की रक्षा करना. तुम हमें अधिक धन देकर धनी बनाओ. (१५)
EN English Translation
O Shur Indra! You drink the somras quickly. O Dhanaswami Indra! Don't be famous and do not violence us and protect the host who praises us. You make us rich by giving us more money. (15)
