अ॒भ्र॒प्रुषो॒ न वा॒चा प्रु॑षा॒ वसु॑ ह॒विष्म॑न्तो॒ न य॒ज्ञा वि॑जा॒नुषः॑ । सु॒मारु॑तं॒ न ब्र॒ह्माण॑म॒र्हसे॑ ग॒णम॑स्तोष्येषां॒ न शो॒भसे॑ ॥ (१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हव्ययुक्त यज्ञ के समान संसार को जन्म देने वाले मरुत् स्तुति से प्रसन्न होकर इस प्रकार धन देते हैं, जिस प्रकार बादल पानी की बूंदें बरसाते हैं. मैं मरुतों के महान् गुण की वास्तविक पूजा नहीं कर पाया हूं. मैंने मरुतों की शोभा के लिए भी स्तुति नहीं की है. (१)
EN English Translation
Those who give birth to the world like the havanyukt yajna are pleased with the desertion and give wealth in such a way that the clouds rain drops of water. I have not been able to truly worship the great quality of the Maruts. I have not even praised the maruts for their splendour. (1)
श्रि॒ये मर्या॑सो अ॒ञ्जीँर॑कृण्वत सु॒मारु॑तं॒ न पू॒र्वीरति॒ क्षपः॑ । दि॒वस्पु॒त्रास॒ एता॒ न ये॑तिर आदि॒त्यास॒स्ते अ॒क्रा न वा॑वृधुः ॥ (२)

मरुद्गण पहले मनुष्य थे और बाद में पुण्य से देव बने. वे अपनी शोभा के लिए आभूषण धारण करते हैं. उन्हें अनेक सेनाएं भी नहीं हरा सकतीं. स्वर्ग के पुत्र ये मरुत् अब दिखाई नहीं देते एवं अदिति के पुत्र ये आक्रमणशील मरुत् नहीं बढ़ते. (२)
EN English Translation
The deserts were first human beings and later became gods by virtue. They wear jewellery for their splendor. They can't be defeated by many armies. These deserts, the sons of heaven, are no longer visible, and aditi's sons do not grow these invading deserts. (2)
प्र ये दि॒वः पृ॑थि॒व्या न ब॒र्हणा॒ त्मना॑ रिरि॒च्रे अ॒भ्रान्न सूर्यः॑ । पाज॑स्वन्तो॒ न वी॒राः प॑न॒स्यवो॑ रि॒शाद॑सो॒ न मर्या॑ अ॒भिद्य॑वः ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
मरुत् अपने शरीर से ही स्वर्ग और धरती की अपेक्षा इस प्रकार अतिरिक्त हो गए हैं, जिस प्रकार बादलों से सूर्य बड़ा है. मरुत् वीर पुरुषों के समान स्तुति चाहने वाले एवं शत्रुचातक मानवों के समान दीप्तियुक्त होते हैं. (३)
EN English Translation
The deserts have become more than heaven and earth from their own bodies, just as the sun is greater than the clouds. Like desert men, those who seek praise and enemies are as bright as human beings. (3)
यु॒ष्माकं॑ बु॒ध्ने अ॒पां न याम॑नि विथु॒र्यति॒ न म॒ही श्र॑थ॒र्यति॑ । वि॒श्वप्सु॑र्य॒ज्ञो अ॒र्वाग॒यं सु वः॒ प्रय॑स्वन्तो॒ न स॒त्राच॒ आ ग॑त ॥ (४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे मरुतो! विस्तृत जलों के गमन के समान जिस समय तुम परस्पर टकराते हो, उस समय धरती न भयभीत होती है और न बिखरती है. यह अनेक रूपों वाला व यज्ञसाधन हवि तुम्हारे समीप जाता है. तुम अन्नदाताओं के समान एकत्रित होकर आओ. (४)
EN English Translation
O Maruto! Like the movement of vast waters, the earth is neither afraid nor shattered at the time you collide. It has many forms and yajnasadhan havi goes near you. You come together like the annadatas. (4)
यू॒यं धू॒र्षु प्र॒युजो॒ न र॒श्मिभि॒र्ज्योति॑ष्मन्तो॒ न भा॒सा व्यु॑ष्टिषु । श्ये॒नासो॒ न स्वय॑शसो रि॒शाद॑सः प्र॒वासो॒ न प्रसि॑तासः परि॒प्रुषः॑ ॥ (५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे मरुतो! तुम रथ की रस्सी से बंधे हुए घोड़ों के समान गतिशील एवं प्रातःकालीन प्रकाश के समान तेजस्वी हो. तुम श्येन पक्षी के समान शत्रुओं का नाश करके यश प्राप्त करते हो तथा पथिकों के समान चारों ओर घूम-घूमकर जल बरसाते हो. (५)
EN English Translation
O Maruto! You are as moving as the horses tied to the rope of the chariot and as bright as the morning light. You achieve success by destroying your enemies like a lion bird and walking around like a pathkis and raining water. (5)
प्र यद्वह॑ध्वे मरुतः परा॒काद्यू॒यं म॒हः सं॒वर॑णस्य॒ वस्वः॑ । वि॒दा॒नासो॑ वसवो॒ राध्य॑स्या॒राच्चि॒द्द्वेषः॑ सनु॒तर्यु॑योत ॥ (६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे मरुतो! तुम बहुत दूर से संग्रह करने योग्य धन वहन करके लाते हो. तुम उपभोग- योग्य धन को प्राप्त करके शत्रुओं को दूर से ही अलग कर देते हो. (६)
EN English Translation
O Maruto! You bring collectable money from far away. You separate the enemies from a distance by acquiring consumable wealth. (6)
य उ॒दृचि॑ य॒ज्ञे अ॑ध्वरे॒ष्ठा म॒रुद्भ्यो॒ न मानु॑षो॒ ददा॑शत् । रे॒वत्स वयो॑ दधते सु॒वीरं॒ स दे॒वाना॒मपि॑ गोपी॒थे अ॑स्तु ॥ (७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
यज्ञ में बैठने वाला जो यजमान यज्ञ की समाप्ति पर मरुतों को दान करता है, वह अन्न, धन और सेवकों का स्वामी बनकर देवों के साथ सोमरस पीता है. (७)
EN English Translation
The host who sits in the yajna, who donates to the maruts at the end of the yajna, becomes the lord of food, money and servants and drinks someras with the devas. (7)
ते हि य॒ज्ञेषु॑ य॒ज्ञिया॑स॒ ऊमा॑ आदि॒त्येन॒ नाम्ना॒ शम्भ॑विष्ठाः । ते नो॑ऽवन्तु रथ॒तूर्म॑नी॒षां म॒हश्च॒ याम॑न्नध्व॒रे च॑का॒नाः ॥ (८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
यज्ञ के अधिकारी एवं रक्षक मरुत्, आकाश के जल द्वारा सुख देते हैं, तेज चलने वाले रथ से आकर हमारी बुद्धि की रक्षा करते हैं एवं महान् हवि की अभिलाषा करते हुए यज्ञ में आते हैं. (८)
EN English Translation
The officers and protectors of the yajna give happiness by the water of the desert, by the water of the sky, come from a fast-moving chariot and protect our intellect and come to the yajna, wishing for the great one. (8)
