प्र के॒तुना॑ बृह॒ता या॑त्य॒ग्निरा रोद॑सी वृष॒भो रो॑रवीति । दि॒वश्चि॒दन्ता॑ँ उप॒माँ उदा॑नळ॒पामु॒पस्थे॑ महि॒षो व॑वर्ध ॥ (१)

अग्नि बड़ा ध्वज लेकर द्यावा-पृथिवी के बीच में जाते हैं एवं देवों को बुलाने के लिए बैल के समान शब्द करते हैं. अग्नि द्युलोक से दूर या समीप रहकर उसे व्याप्त करते हैं एवं जल के भंडार अंतरिक्ष में बिजली के रूप में बढ़ते हैं. (१)
EN English Translation
Agni takes a big flag and goes between Dyava-Prithvivi and says words like a bull to call the gods. Agni pervades it by staying away from or near both lokas and the water reserves grow as electricity in space. (1)
मु॒मोद॒ गर्भो॑ वृष॒भः क॒कुद्मा॑नस्रे॒मा व॒त्सः शिमी॑वाँ अरावीत् । स दे॒वता॒त्युद्य॑तानि कृ॒ण्वन्स्वेषु॒ क्षये॑षु प्रथ॒मो जि॑गाति ॥ (२)

अभिलाषापूरक एवं उन्नत तेज वाले अग्नि द्यावा-पृथिवी के मध्य में प्रसन्न होते हैं प्रातःकाल एवं निशा के प्रसिद्ध पुत्र एवं यज्ञकर्म करने वाले अग्नि शब्द करते हैं. वे यज्ञ में उत्साहपूर्ण कर्म करते हैं, अपने स्थानों में रहते हैं एवं देवों के प्रमुख बनकर जाते हैं.(२)
EN English Translation
The desireful and advanced sharp agnies are pleased in the middle of the day and the earth, in the morning and the famous sons of Nisha and those who perform yajnakarma do the words agni. They perform zealous deeds in the yagna, live in their places and become the head of the gods. (2)
आ यो मू॒र्धानं॑ पि॒त्रोरर॑ब्ध॒ न्य॑ध्व॒रे द॑धिरे॒ सूरो॒ अर्णः॑ । अस्य॒ पत्म॒न्नरु॑षी॒रश्व॑बुध्ना ऋ॒तस्य॒ योनौ॑ त॒न्वो॑ जुषन्त ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
अग्नि अपने माता-पिता द्यावा-पृथिवी के सिर पर अपने तेज से रमण करते हैं. यज्ञकर्ता शोभनशक्ति वाले अग्नि के तेज को यज्ञ में धारण करते हैं. अग्नि के पतन के समय सुशोभित स्तोता यज्ञ के स्थान में व्याप्त अग्नि के शरीर की सेवा करते हैं. (३)
EN English Translation
Agni ramanas with his swiftness on the head of his parents, Dyava-Prithvivi. The yajnakars wear the brightness of the agni with shobhan shakti in the yajna. At the time of the fall of agni, the adorned hymns serve the body of the agni prevailing in the place of the yajna. (3)
उ॒षौ॑षो॒ हि व॑सो॒ अग्र॒मेषि॒ त्वं य॒मयो॑रभवो वि॒भावा॑ । ऋ॒ताय॑ स॒प्त द॑धिषे प॒दानि॑ ज॒नय॑न्मि॒त्रं त॒न्वे॒३॒॑ स्वायै॑ ॥ (४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे प्रशंसनीय अग्नि! तुम प्रतिदिन उषाकाल से पहले ही आ जाते हो तथा आपस में मिले हुए रात-दिन को प्रकाशित करते हो. तुम अपने शरीर से सूर्य को उत्पन्न करते हुए यज्ञ के निमित्त सात स्थानों में बैठो. (४)
EN English Translation
O praiseworthy agni! You come every day before the dawn and illuminate the night and day that you meet. You sit in seven places for the sake of the yajna, generating the sun from your body. (4)
भुव॒श्चक्षु॑र्म॒ह ऋ॒तस्य॑ गो॒पा भुवो॒ वरु॑णो॒ यदृ॒ताय॒ वेषि॑ । भुवो॑ अ॒पां नपा॑ज्जातवेदो॒ भुवो॑ दू॒तो यस्य॑ ह॒व्यं जुजो॑षः ॥ (५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अग्नि! तुम चक्षु के समान यज्ञ को प्रकाशित करने वाले तथा रक्षक हो. जब तुम वरुण के रूप में जाते हो तब तुम रक्षक बनते हो. हे जातवेद अग्नि! तुम्हीं जल के नाती एवं उस यजमान के दूत बनते हो, जिसका हवि तुम स्वीकार कर लेते हो. (५)
EN English Translation
O agni! You are the one who illuminates and protects the yajna like a watch. When you go as Varun, you become a protector. O Jativeda Agni! You become the grandson of water and the messenger of the host whom you accept. (5)
भुवो॑ य॒ज्ञस्य॒ रज॑सश्च ने॒ता यत्रा॑ नि॒युद्भिः॒ सच॑से शि॒वाभिः॑ । दि॒वि मू॒र्धानं॑ दधिषे स्व॒र्षां जि॒ह्वाम॑ग्ने चकृषे हव्य॒वाह॑म् ॥ (६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अग्नि! तुम अंतरिक्ष में कल्याणकारी अश्वों वाले देवों से मिलकर यज्ञ और जल के नेता बनते हो. तुम प्रधान एवं सबका उपभोग करने वाले सूर्य को स्वर्ग में धारण करते हो एवं अपनी जीभ को हव्यवहन करने वाली बनाते हो. (६)
EN English Translation
O agni! You meet the gods with welfare horses in space and become the leader of yajna and water. You hold the sun in heaven, the chief and the consuming sun, and make your tongue a harbinger. (6)
अ॒स्य त्रि॒तः क्रतु॑ना व॒व्रे अ॒न्तरि॒च्छन्धी॒तिं पि॒तुरेवैः॒ पर॑स्य । स॒च॒स्यमा॑नः पि॒त्रोरु॒पस्थे॑ जा॒मि ब्रु॑वा॒ण आयु॑धानि वेति ॥ (७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
यज्ञ के भाग से बढ़ी हुई शक्ति वाले त्रित ऋषि ने अपने रक्षासाधनों से युक्त होकर, यज्ञ के मध्य में अपना भाग चाहते हुए उत्तम एवं जगतपालक इंद्र को यज्ञ के द्वारा मित्र बनाया. माता-पितारूप द्यावा-पृथिवी के मध्य में वर्तमान यज्ञ में ऋत्विजों सहित त्रित ने इंद्र के अनुकूल स्तोत्र बोलते हुए आयुध प्राप्त किए. (७)
EN English Translation
The Trita sage, who had increased strength from the part of the yajna, made uttam and jagatpalak Indra a friend through the yajna, who wanted his share in the middle of the yajna, having his protective means. In the present yajna in the middle of the parent-fatherly dyava-prithvivi, the Trita, along with the ritvijs, received the arms while speaking hymns in line with Indra. (7)
स पित्र्या॒ण्यायु॑धानि वि॒द्वानिन्द्रे॑षित आ॒प्त्यो अ॒भ्य॑युध्यत् । त्रि॒शी॒र्षाणं॑ स॒प्तर॑श्मिं जघ॒न्वान्त्वा॒ष्ट्रस्य॑ चि॒न्निः स॑सृजे त्रि॒तो गाः ॥ (८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
अपने पिता के आयुधों को जानने वाले एवं इंद्र के द्वारा प्रेरित आप्त्यपुत्र त्रित ने युद्ध किया. उसने सात रश्मियों वाले त्रिशिरा का वध किया और त्वष्टा के पुत्र विश्वरूप की गाएं छीन लीं. (८)
EN English Translation
Trita, the son of Astya, who knew his father's weapons and inspired by Indra, fought. He killed trishira, who had seven rashmis, and snatched away the cows of Vishwaroop, the son of Tvashta. (8)
भूरीदिन्द्र॑ उ॒दिन॑क्षन्त॒मोजोऽवा॑भिन॒त्सत्प॑ति॒र्मन्य॑मानम् । त्वा॒ष्ट्रस्य॑ चिद्वि॒श्वरू॑पस्य॒ गोना॑माचक्रा॒णस्त्रीणि॑ शी॒र्षा परा॑ वर्क् ॥ (९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
सज्जनों के पालक इंद्र ने स्वयं को शूर मानने वाले एवं अतिरिक्त तेज धारण करने वाले त्वष्टापुत्र को मार डाला. इंद्र ने त्वष्टा के पुत्र विश्वरूप की गायों को बुलाते हुए उसके तीन सिरों को काट दिया. (९)
EN English Translation
The gentleman's foster, Indra, killed the son of the Tvashta who considered himself to be brave and extra sharp. Indra called the cows of Vishwarup, the son of Tvashta, and cut off his three ends. (9)
