प्रैते व॑दन्तु॒ प्र व॒यं व॑दाम॒ ग्राव॑भ्यो॒ वाचं॑ वदता॒ वद॑द्भ्यः । यद॑द्रयः पर्वताः सा॒कमा॒शवः॒ श्लोकं॒ घोषं॒ भर॒थेन्द्रा॑य सो॒मिनः॑ ॥ (१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
ये पत्थर शब्द करें, हम इन पत्थरों की स्तुति करें. हे ऋत्विजो! तुम शब्द करने वाले पत्थरों की स्तुति करो. हे आदरणीय दृढ़ एवं सोमरस निचोड़ने में शीघ्रता करने वाले पत्थरो! तुम एक इंद्र के लिए सुनने योग्य शब्द करो. हे सोमरसयुक्त पत्थरो! तुम सोम से तृप्त बनो. (१)
EN English Translation
Make these stone words, let us praise these stones. Hey Ritvijo! Praise the stones that make the word. O revered firm and some stones that haveten to squeeze! You make a word worth listening to Indra. O somersed stones! You be satisfied with Mon. (1)
ए॒ते व॑दन्ति श॒तव॑त्स॒हस्र॑वद॒भि क्र॑न्दन्ति॒ हरि॑तेभिरा॒सभिः॑ । वि॒ष्ट्वी ग्रावा॑णः सु॒कृतः॑ सुकृ॒त्यया॒ होतु॑श्चि॒त्पूर्वे॑ हवि॒रद्य॑माशत ॥ (२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
ये पत्थर सैकड़ों अथवा हजारों लोगों के समान शब्द करते हैं. ये सोमलता के कारण हरे पत्थर अपने मुखों से देवों को बुलाते हैं. ये शोभन कर्म-वाले पत्थर यज्ञ को पाकर देवों को बुलाने वाले अग्ने से पहले ही हव्य भक्षण करते हैं. (२)
EN English Translation
These stones use words similar to hundreds or thousands of people. Due to these somlata, green stones call the gods from their mouths. These shobhan karma-wala stones worship the havan even before the agne who call the gods by receiving the yajna. (2)
ए॒ते व॑द॒न्त्यवि॑दन्न॒ना मधु॒ न्यू॑ङ्खयन्ते॒ अधि॑ प॒क्व आमि॑षि । वृ॒क्षस्य॒ शाखा॑मरु॒णस्य॒ बप्स॑त॒स्ते सूभ॑र्वा वृष॒भाः प्रेम॑राविषुः ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
ये पत्थर लाल रंग के पेड़ की शाखा को खाने वाले सुभक्षण बैलों के समान शब्द करते हैं. मांसभक्षी मांस पकने पर जैसी हर्षध्वनि करते हैं, उसी प्रकार का शब्द ये पत्थर नशीला सोम सुख से पीते समय करते हैं. (३)
EN English Translation
These stones give similar words to the predatory bulls that eat the branch of the red-colored tree. The same kind of words that carnivores do when the meat is cooked, these stones do while drinking intoxicating som happily. (3)
बृ॒हद्व॑दन्ति मदि॒रेण॑ म॒न्दिनेन्द्रं॒ क्रोश॑न्तोऽविदन्न॒ना मधु॑ । सं॒रभ्या॒ धीराः॒ स्वसृ॑भिरनर्तिषुराघो॒षय॑न्तः पृथि॒वीमु॑प॒ब्दिभिः॑ ॥ (४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
नशा करने वाले एवं निचोड़े जाते हुए सोम के द्वारा इंद्र को पुकारने वाले ये पत्थर महान् शब्द करते हैं. ये पत्थर अपने मुख से नशीला सोमरस प्राप्त करते हैं. ये पत्थर निचोड़ने के काम में चंचल होकर भी धीर रहते हैं एवं अपने शब्दों से धरती को गुंजित करते हुए उंगलियों के साथ नाचते हैं. (४)
EN English Translation
These stones, which call Indra through Soma, who are intoxicated and squeezed, do great words. These stones get intoxicating somers from their mouths. These stones remain patient even after being playful in the work of squeezing and dance with their fingers while humming the earth with their words. (4)
सु॒प॒र्णा वाच॑मक्र॒तोप॒ द्यव्या॑ख॒रे कृष्णा॑ इषि॒रा अ॑नर्तिषुः । न्य१॒॑ङ्नि य॒न्त्युप॑रस्य निष्कृ॒तं पु॒रू रेतो॑ दधिरे सूर्य॒श्वितः॑ ॥ (५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
इन पत्थरों का शब्द सुनकर ऐसा लगता है, जैसे आकाश में उड़ने वाले पक्षी शब्द कर रहे हों. ये पत्थर जंगल में घूमने वाले कृष्णसार हरिण के समान नाचते हैं. ये पत्थर पिसे हुए सोम को नीचे गिराते हैं एवं सूर्य के समान श्वेत वर्ण के जल को अधिक मात्रा में धारण करते हैं. (५)
EN English Translation
Hearing the words of these stones, it is as if the birds flying in the sky are saying words. These stones dance like krishnasar deer roaming in the forest. These stones bring down the crushed mons and hold a large amount of white colored water like the sun. (5)
उ॒ग्रा इ॑व प्र॒वह॑न्तः स॒माय॑मुः सा॒कं यु॒क्ता वृष॑णो॒ बिभ्र॑तो॒ धुरः॑ । यच्छ्व॒सन्तो॑ जग्रसा॒ना अरा॑विषुः शृ॒ण्व ए॑षां प्रो॒थथो॒ अर्व॑तामिव ॥ (६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जिस प्रकार शक्तिशाली घोड़े मिलकर रथ के जुए को धारण करके आगे बढ़ाते हैं एवं अपना शरीर लंबा करते हैं. उसी प्रकार यज्ञ का भार वहन करने वाले ये पत्थर विशाल बनकर सोमरस टपकाते हैं. ये सोमलता को कुचलने में नीचे-ऊपर होने के बहाने सांस लेते हुए सोम को निगलते एवं शब्द करते हैं. घोड़े के मुख से निकले शब्द के समान मैं इन पत्थरों का शब्द सुनता हूं. (६)
EN English Translation
Just as powerful horses together carry on the yoke of the chariot and move forward and lengthen their body. In the same way, these stones, which carry the burden of yajna, become huge and drip someras. They swallow and say words to Som, breathing on the pretext of being down and down in crushing Somlata. Like the word that came out of the horse's mouth, I hear the words of these stones. (6)
दशा॑वनिभ्यो॒ दश॑कक्ष्येभ्यो॒ दश॑योक्त्रेभ्यो॒ दश॑योजनेभ्यः । दशा॑भीशुभ्यो अर्चता॒जरे॑भ्यो॒ दश॒ धुरो॒ दश॑ यु॒क्ता वह॑द्भ्यः ॥ (७)

हे ऋत्विजो! सोमरस निचुड़ते समय दस उंगलियों द्वारा ग्रहण किए गए, दस उंगलियों द्वारा प्रदर्शित, दस उंगलियों द्वारा बद्ध, दस उंगलियों रूपी लगामों से घोड़ों के समान वशीभूत, जरारहित एवं दस रस्सियों से बंधे घोड़ों के समान यज्ञ को वहन करने वाले पत्थरों की स्तुति करो. (७)
EN English Translation
Hey Ritvijo! When the somras lay, praise the stones that carry the yajna, taken with ten fingers, displayed by ten fingers, bound by ten fingers, with the reins of ten fingers, as horses with the reins of ten fingers, unshaken and tied to ten ropes. (7)
ते अद्र॑यो॒ दश॑यन्त्रास आ॒शव॒स्तेषा॑मा॒धानं॒ पर्ये॑ति हर्य॒तम् । त ऊ॑ सु॒तस्य॑ सो॒म्यस्यान्ध॑सों॒ऽशोः पी॒यूषं॑ प्रथ॒मस्य॑ भेजिरे ॥ (८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
ये पत्थर दस उंगलियों रूपी रस्सियों का बंधन पाकर जल्दी-जल्दी काम करते हैं. इनके द्वारा निर्मित सोमरस हरे रंग का होकर निकलता है. ये पत्थर ही निचोड़े गए सोम के रसमय अंश को अमृत अन्न के समान पहले ग्रहण करते हैं. (८)
EN English Translation
These stones work quickly with a ten-fingered rope. The somras produced by them turn out to be green in colour. These stones take the juicey part of the squeezed mon first like the nectar grain. (8)
ते सो॒मादो॒ हरी॒ इन्द्र॑स्य निंसतें॒ऽशुं दु॒हन्तो॒ अध्या॑सते॒ गवि॑ । तेभि॑र्दु॒ग्धं प॑पि॒वान्सो॒म्यं मध्विन्द्रो॑ वर्धते॒ प्रथ॑ते वृषा॒यते॑ ॥ (९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
सोमरस का भक्षण करने वाले ये पत्थर इंद्र के घोड़ों को प्राप्त करते हैं. इनका रस निकलकर गोचर्म के ऊपर जाता है. इन पत्थरों द्वारा निकाले हुए मधुर सोमरस को पीकर इंद्र बढ़ते हैं, विस्तृत होते हैं एवं सांड़ के समान शक्ति दिखाते हैं. (९)
EN English Translation
These stones that feed on somras receive Indra's horses. Their juice comes out and goes over the gocharm. By drinking the sweet somras extracted by these stones, Indra grows, expands and shows the power of the same as a sand. (9)
वृषा॑ वो अं॒शुर्न किला॑ रिषाथ॒नेळा॑वन्तः॒ सद॒मित्स्थ॒नाशि॑ताः । रै॒व॒त्येव॒ मह॑सा॒ चार॑वः स्थन॒ यस्य॑ ग्रावाणो॒ अजु॑षध्वमध्व॒रम् ॥ (१०)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे पत्थरो! सोमलता का खंड तुम्हें यज्ञ में रस देगा. तुम निराश मत बनो. तुम अन्न वालों के समान सदा भोजन प्राप्त करो. तुम धनी लोगों के समान सदा तेजयुक्त होकर कल्याणकारी बनो एवं यजमान के यज्ञ का सेवन करो. (१०)
EN English Translation
O stones! The segment of Somalata will give you juice in the yajna. Don't be disappointed. You always have food like the food that you eat. Be as fast as the rich people always be well-being and consume the yajna of the host. (10)
तृ॒दि॒ला अतृ॑दिलासो॒ अद्र॑योऽश्रम॒णा अशृ॑थिता॒ अमृ॑त्यवः । अ॒ना॒तु॒रा अ॒जराः॒ स्थाम॑विष्णवः सुपी॒वसो॒ अतृ॑षिता॒ अतृ॑ष्णजः ॥ (११)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे पत्थरो! तुम स्वयं श्रमरहित होकर दूसरों को थकाने वाले, थकान से रहित, दूसरों द्वारा शिथिल न होने वाले, मरणरहित, रोगहीन, उठने-गिरने की गति से युक्त, शोभन शक्ति वाले तृषारहित एवं निस्पृह बनो. (११)
EN English Translation
O stones! Be yourself laborless, without exhausting others, free of fatigue, without being relaxed by others, without dying, diseaseless, with the speed of rising and falling, without the power of adornment and being unshakable. (11)
ध्रु॒वा ए॒व वः॑ पि॒तरो॑ यु॒गेयु॑गे॒ क्षेम॑कामासः॒ सद॑सो॒ न यु॑ञ्जते । अ॒जु॒र्यासो॑ हरि॒षाचो॑ ह॒रिद्र॑व॒ आ द्यां रवे॑ण पृथि॒वीम॑शुश्रवुः ॥ (१२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे पत्थर! तुम्हारे पूर्वज पर्वत युगों से स्थिर हैं. वे पूर्णकाम पर्वत कभी भी अपना स्थान नहीं छोड़ते. ये जरारहित पर्वत सोम का भोग करने वाले, हरे वृक्षों वाले एवं अपने शब्द से धरती-आकाश को पूर्ण करने वाले हैं. (१२)
EN English Translation
O stone! Your ancestors are stable from mountain ages. They never leave their place at The Full Work Mountain. These are the ones who enjoy the unstoppable mountains of Soma, those with green trees and complete the earth and the sky with their word. (12)
तदिद्व॑द॒न्त्यद्र॑यो वि॒मोच॑ने॒ याम॑न्नञ्ज॒स्पा इ॑व॒ घेदु॑प॒ब्दिभिः॑ । वप॑न्तो॒ बीज॑मिव धान्या॒कृतः॑ पृ॒ञ्चन्ति॒ सोमं॒ न मि॑नन्ति॒ बप्स॑तः ॥ (१३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
रथचालक मार्ग में रथ चलाता हुआ जिस प्रकार शब्द करता है उसी प्रकार सोमलता का रस निचोड़ने में ये पत्थर शब्द करते हैं. किसान जिस प्रकार बीज बोते हैं, उसी प्रकार ये पाषाण सोमरस को विस्तृत करते हैं. नष्ट नहीं करते हैं. (१३)
EN English Translation
Just as the chariot driver drives the chariot in the way and makes the word, so do these stone words in squeezing the juice of somlata. Just as farmers sow seeds, these stones expand the somras. Don't destroy. (13)
सु॒ते अ॑ध्व॒रे अधि॒ वाच॑मक्र॒ता क्री॒ळयो॒ न मा॒तरं॑ तु॒दन्तः॑ । वि षू मु॑ञ्चा सुषु॒वुषो॑ मनी॒षां वि व॑र्तन्ता॒मद्र॑य॒श्चाय॑मानाः ॥ (१४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
बच्चे खेलते समय जिस प्रकार अपनी माताओं को धवकका देते हुए हल्ला मचाते हैं, उसी प्रकार ये पूज्य पत्थर यज्ञ में सोमरस निचोड़ते समय शब्द करते हैं. हे स्तोताओ! सोमरस निचोड़ने वाले पत्थरों की स्तुति करो. पत्थर घूमते हुए शब्द करें. (१४)
EN English Translation
Just as children make a hue and cry while playing, pushing their mothers, so do these revered stones in the yagna while squeezing somras. This stotao! Praise the stones that squeeze the somras. Make words while turning stones. (14)
