इन्द्रा॑पर्वता बृह॒ता रथे॑न वा॒मीरिष॒ आ व॑हतं सु॒वीराः॑ । वी॒तं ह॒व्यान्य॑ध्व॒रेषु॑ देवा॒ वर्धे॑थां गी॒र्भिरिळ॑या॒ मद॑न्ता ॥ (१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र एवं पर्वत! तुम बड़े रथ द्वारा शोभन एवं पुत्र-सहित अन्न लाओ. हे देव! हमारे यज्ञ में हव्य का भक्षण करो एवं उससे प्रसन्न होकर हमारे स्तुति वचनों द्वारा वृद्धि प्राप्त करो. (१)
EN English Translation
O Indra and the mountain! You bring food with Shobhan and son by a big chariot. Oh, God! Devour the havya in our yajna and be pleased with it and grow by our praises. (1)
तिष्ठा॒ सु कं॑ मघव॒न्मा परा॑ गाः॒ सोम॑स्य॒ नु त्वा॒ सुषु॑तस्य यक्षि । पि॒तुर्न पु॒त्रः सिच॒मा र॑भे त॒ इन्द्र॒ स्वादि॑ष्ठया गि॒रा श॑चीवः ॥ (२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे मघवा! इस यज्ञ में तुम कुछ समय सुखपूर्वक रहो. यहां से जाओ मत. हम भली प्रकार निचोड़े गए सोम से शीघ्र ही तुम्हारा यज्ञ करते हैं. हे शक्तिशाली इंद्र! पुत्र जिस प्रकार पिता के वस्त्र का छोर पकड़ लेता है, उसी प्रकार हम मधुर स्तुतियां बोलते हुए तुम्हारा वस्त्र पकड़ते हैं. (२)
EN English Translation
Oh, this maghwa! In this yajna you should be happy for some time. Don't get out of here. We perform your yajna soon with the well squeezed mon. O mighty Indra! Just as the Son takes hold of the end of the Father's garment, so we hold your garment while speaking sweet praises. (2)
शंसा॑वाध्वर्यो॒ प्रति॑ मे गृणी॒हीन्द्रा॑य॒ वाहः॑ कृणवाव॒ जुष्ट॑म् । एदं ब॒र्हिर्यज॑मानस्य सी॒दाथा॑ च भूदु॒क्थमिन्द्रा॑य श॒स्तम् ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अध्वर्यु! हम दोनों स्तुति करेंगे. तुम मुझे उत्तर दो. हम दोनों इंद्र के लिए प्रिय स्तुतियां करेंगे. तुम यजमान के कुशों पर बैठो. हम दोनों द्वारा इंद्र के लिए किया गया उक्थ प्रशंसनीय हो. (३)
EN English Translation
O adhwaryu! We'll both praise. You answer me. We will both do dear praises for Indra. You sit on the thrones of the host. The uqth by both of us for Indra has been plausible. (3)
जा॒येदस्तं॑ मघव॒न्सेदु॒ योनि॒स्तदित्त्वा॑ यु॒क्ता हर॑यो वहन्तु । य॒दा क॒दा च॑ सु॒नवा॑म॒ सोम॑म॒ग्निष्ट्वा॑ दू॒तो ध॑न्वा॒त्यच्छ॑ ॥ (४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे मघवा! पत्नी ही घर है एवं वही पुरुष की योनि है. हरि नामक घोड़े तुम्हें उसी पत्नीयुक्त घर में ले जावें. हम जब कभी सोमरस निचोड़ें, तब तुम्हारा दूत अग्नि तुम्हारे सामने आ जाए. (४)
EN English Translation
Oh, this maghwa! The wife is home and the same is the man's vagina. Let a horse named Hari take you to the same wife's house. Whenever we squeeze the somras, let your angel agni come before you. (4)
परा॑ याहि मघव॒न्ना च॑ या॒हीन्द्र॑ भ्रातरुभ॒यत्रा॑ ते॒ अर्थ॑म् । यत्रा॒ रथ॑स्य बृह॒तो नि॒धानं॑ वि॒मोच॑नं वा॒जिनो॒ रास॑भस्य ॥ (५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे धन के स्वामी इंद्र! तुम या तो इस यज्ञ से अपने निवासस्थान पर जाओ अथवा इस यज्ञ में आओ. हे भरणकर्त्ता इंद्र! दोनों स्थानों पर तुम्हारा प्रयोजन है. वहां जाने के लिए अपने विशाल रथ पर बैठो तथा यहां रहने के लिए हिनहिनाते हुए घोड़ों को रथ से अलग कर दो. (५)
EN English Translation
O Lord of wealth Indra! You either go to your abode from this yajna or come to this yajna. O filler Indra! Both places have your purpose. Sit on your huge chariot to get there and separate the horses from the chariot to stay here. (5)
अपाः॒ सोम॒मस्त॑मिन्द्र॒ प्र या॑हि कल्या॒णीर्जा॒या सु॒रणं॑ गृ॒हे ते॑ । यत्रा॒ रथ॑स्य बृह॒तो नि॒धानं॑ वि॒मोच॑नं वा॒जिनो॒ दक्षि॑णावत् ॥ (६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! यहीं ठहर कर सोम पिओ और अपने घर जाओ. तुम्हारे घर में सुंदरी एवं कल्याणी पत्नी है. घर जाने के लिए तुम अपने विशाल रथ पर बैठो अथवा यहां ठहरने के लिए घोड़ों को खोलकर खाने-पीने दो. (६)
EN English Translation
O Indra! Stay here and drink mon and go to your house. Sundari & Kalyani is the wife in your house. Sit on your huge chariot to go home, or open the horses to stay here and let them eat and drink. (6)
इ॒मे भो॒जा अङ्गि॑रसो॒ विरू॑पा दि॒वस्पु॒त्रासो॒ असु॑रस्य वी॒राः । वि॒श्वामि॑त्राय॒ दद॑तो म॒घानि॑ सहस्रसा॒वे प्र ति॑रन्त॒ आयुः॑ ॥ (७)

हे इंद्र! यज्ञ करने वाले ये सुदासवंशी भोज नामक क्षत्रिय, उनके याजक अनेक अंगिरागोत्रीय ऋषि एवं देवों से बलवान् रुद्र के पुत्र मरुत् इस अश्वमेध यज्ञ में गुरु विश्वामित्र को महान् धन देते हुए मेरे धन को बढ़ावें. (७)
EN English Translation
O Indra! These yagyas, the Kshatriyas named Sudasvanshi Bhoja, their priests, many angiragotriya sages and gods, may the son of The Lord Rudra, the son of Balvan Rudra, increase my wealth by giving great wealth to Guru Vishwamitra in this ashwamedha yajna. (7)
रू॒पंरू॑पं म॒घवा॑ बोभवीति मा॒याः कृ॑ण्वा॒नस्त॒न्वं१॒॑ परि॒ स्वाम् । त्रिर्यद्दि॒वः परि॑ मुहू॒र्तमागा॒त्स्वैर्मन्त्रै॒रनृ॑तुपा ऋ॒तावा॑ ॥ (८)

इंद्र इच्छानुसार रूप बदल लेते हैं. माया करते हुए इंद्र अपने शरीर को नाना प्रकार का बनाते हैं. सत्ययुक्त होकर भी बिना ऋतु के सोमपान करने वाले इंद्र अपने स्तुति-मंत्रों से बुलाए जाने पर एक मुहूर्त में स्वर्गलोक से तीनों सवनों के यज्ञों में पहुंच जाते हैं. (८)
EN English Translation
Indra changes the form according to his will. While doing Maya, Indra makes his body of various kinds. Indra, who performs sompan without the season despite being truthful, reaches the yagnas of the three saavans from the heavenly place in one muhurat when called with his hymns of praise and mantras. (8)
म॒हाँ ऋषि॑र्देव॒जा दे॒वजू॒तोऽस्त॑भ्ना॒त्सिन्धु॑मर्ण॒वं नृ॒चक्षाः॑ । वि॒श्वामि॑त्रो॒ यदव॑हत्सु॒दास॒मप्रि॑यायत कुशि॒केभि॒रिन्द्रः॑ ॥ (९)

महान्, इंद्रियों से परवर्ती अर्थ देखने वाले, उज्ज्वल तेज उत्पन्न करने वाले, तेजों द्वारा आकृष्ट व मनुष्यों के उपदेशक विश्वामित्र ने जलपूर्ण सरिता को रोक दिया था. जब विश्वामित्र ने सुदास का यज्ञ कराया, तब इंद्र ने कुशिकगोत्रीय ऋषियों के साथ प्रेम का आचरण किया. (९)

हं॒सा इ॑व कृणुथ॒ श्लोक॒मद्रि॑भि॒र्मद॑न्तो गी॒र्भिर॑ध्व॒रे सु॒ते सचा॑ । दे॒वेभि॑र्विप्रा ऋषयो नृचक्षसो॒ वि पि॑बध्वं कुशिकाः सो॒म्यं मधु॑ ॥ (१०)

हे विप्रो, ऋषियों व नेताओं को उपदेश देने वालो एवं कुशिक गोत्र में उत्पन्न पुत्रो! यज्ञ में पत्थरों द्वारा सोम निचोड़े जाने पर तुम स्तुतियों द्वारा देवों को प्रसन्न करते हुए हंसों के समान मंत्रों का उच्चारण करो तथा देवों के साथ सोम पिओ. (१०)
EN English Translation
O Wipro, those who preach to sages and leaders, and the sons born in the Kushik tribe! When the som is squeezed by the stones in the yajna, you recite mantras like swans and drink the som with the devas, pleasing the gods by the praises. (10)
उप॒ प्रेत॑ कुशिकाश्चे॒तय॑ध्व॒मश्वं॑ रा॒ये प्र मु॑ञ्चता सु॒दासः॑ । राजा॑ वृ॒त्रं ज॑ङ्घन॒त्प्रागपा॒गुद॒गथा॑ यजाते॒ वर॒ आ पृ॑थि॒व्याः ॥ (११)

हे कुशिकगोत्रीय पुत्रो! अश्व के पास जाओ एवं सावधान रहो. राजा सुदास का अश्व दिग्विजय द्वारा धन पाने के लिए छोड़ दो. राजा इंद्र ने वृत्र को पूर्व, पश्चिम एवं उत्तर दिशाओं में मारा था. राजा सुदास पृथ्वी के उत्तम भाग में यज्ञ करें. (११)
EN English Translation
O sons of Kushikgotriya! Go to the horse and be careful. Leave the horse of King Sudas to get wealth by Digvijaya. King Indra had hit Vrithra in the east, west and north directions. King Sudas perform yajna in the best part of the earth. (11)
य इ॒मे रोद॑सी उ॒भे अ॒हमिन्द्र॒मतु॑ष्टवम् । वि॒श्वामि॑त्रस्य रक्षति॒ ब्रह्मे॒दं भार॑तं॒ जन॑म् ॥ (१२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे पुत्रो! मैं विश्वामित्र धरती और आकाश द्वारा इंद्र की स्तुति कराता हूं. यह स्तोत्र भरतवंशीय लोगों की रक्षा करे. (१२)
EN English Translation
O children! I praise Indra through Vishwamitra, earth and sky. This hymn should protect the Bharat's descendants. (12)
वि॒श्वामि॑त्रा अरासत॒ ब्रह्मेन्द्रा॑य व॒ज्रिणे॑ । कर॒दिन्नः॑ सु॒राध॑सः ॥ (१३)

हम विश्वामित्र के पुत्रों ने वज्रधारी इंद्र का स्तोत्र किया. इंद्र हमें शोभन धन वाला करें. (१३)
EN English Translation
We, the sons of Vishwamitra, performed the hymn of thunderbolt carrying Indra. Indra make us have divine wealth. (13)
किं ते॑ कृण्वन्ति॒ कीक॑टेषु॒ गावो॒ नाशिरं॑ दु॒ह्रे न त॑पन्ति घ॒र्मम् । आ नो॑ भर॒ प्रम॑गन्दस्य॒ वेदो॑ नैचाशा॒खं म॑घवन्रन्धया नः ॥ (१४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! अनार्य लोगों के जनपदों में गाएं तुम्हारे लिए कुछ भी नहीं करेंगी. न वे सोमरस में मिलाने के लिए दूध देती हैं और न यज्ञपात्र को अपने दूध से दीप्त कर सकती हैं. हे मघवा! वे गाएं हमारे पास ले आओ और प्रमगंद का धन भी हमें दो. तुम नीच वंश वाले लोगों का धन हमें प्रदान करो. (१४)
EN English Translation
O Indra! Sing in the districts of the anirya people will do nothing for you. They do not give milk to be mixed in somras and can't light up the yajnapatra with their milk. Oh, this maghwa! They will sing, bring us and give us the wealth of the glory. You give us the wealth of the people of the lowly lineage. (14)
स॒स॒र्प॒रीरम॑तिं॒ बाध॑माना बृ॒हन्मि॑माय ज॒मद॑ग्निदत्ता । आ सूर्य॑स्य दुहि॒ता त॑तान॒ श्रवो॑ दे॒वेष्व॒मृत॑मजु॒र्यम् ॥ (१५)

अग्नि प्रज्वलित करने वाले ऋषियों द्वारा हमें दी गई, अज्ञान को रोकने वाली एवं शब्द के रूप में सब जगह फैलने वाली वाणी बृहद् रूप धारण करती है. सूर्य की पुत्री वाणी-देवता इंद्र आदि देवों के समीप क्षयरहित एवं अमृतरूप अन्न का विचार करती है. (१५)
EN English Translation
The speech given to us by the sages who ignite the agni, the stopping of ignorance and spreading everywhere in the form of a word takes a great form. The daughter of the sun thinks of the food of the voice-god Indra, etc., without decay and in the form of nectar near the gods. (15)
स॒स॒र्प॒रीर॑भर॒त्तूय॑मे॒भ्योऽधि॒ श्रवः॒ पाञ्च॑जन्यासु कृ॒ष्टिषु॑ । सा प॒क्ष्या॒३॒॑ नव्य॒मायु॒र्दधा॑ना॒ यां मे॑ पलस्तिजमद॒ग्नयो॑ द॒दुः ॥ (१६)

ब्राह्मण, क्षत्रिय, वैश्य, शूद्र एवं निषादों के धन से अधिक धन गद्यपद्य रूप में विस्तृत वाग्देवता हमें शीघ्र प्रदान करें. दीर्घायु वाले जमदग्नि आदि ऋषियों ने जो वाणी मुझे दी, वह सूर्यरूपी वाणी मुझे नवीन अन्न वाला बनावे. (१६)
EN English Translation
May the wealth of brahmins, kshatriyas, vaishyas, shudras and nishads be more than the money of the prose and give us the elaborate vagdevta in the form of prose. The voice given to me by the long-lived sages like Jamadagni, etc., let the sun-like voice make me a new grain. (16)
स्थि॒रौ गावौ॑ भवतां वी॒ळुरक्षो॒ मेषा वि व॑र्हि॒ मा यु॒गं वि शा॑रि । इन्द्रः॑ पात॒ल्ये॑ ददतां॒ शरी॑तो॒ररि॑ष्टनेमे अ॒भि नः॑ सचस्व ॥ (१७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
गतिशील अश्व स्थिर हो. रथ का धुरा दृढ़ हो. दंड एवं जुआ न टूटे. गिरने वाली कीलों को टूटने से पहले ही इंद्र धारण करें. हे नष्ट न होने वाले नेमियुक्त रथ! हमारे सामने आओ. (१७)
EN English Translation
Dynamic horse be stable. The axle of the chariot should be firm. Don't break the penalties and gambling. Hold indra before the falling nails are broken. O non-perishable chariots! Come before us. (17)
बलं॑ धेहि त॒नूषु॑ नो॒ बल॑मिन्द्रान॒ळुत्सु॑ नः । बलं॑ तो॒काय॒ तन॑याय जी॒वसे॒ त्वं हि ब॑ल॒दा असि॑ ॥ (१८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! हमारे शरीरों में बल दो एवं हमारे बैलों को बलवान् करो. हे बल देने वाले इंद्र! हमारे पुत्र एवं पौत्रों को चिरजीवी होने के लिए बल दो. (१८)
EN English Translation
O Indra! Strengthen our bodies and strengthen our bulls. O indra who gives strength! Force our sons and grandsons to be eternal. (18)
अ॒भि व्य॑यस्व खदि॒रस्य॒ सार॒मोजो॑ धेहि स्पन्द॒ने शिं॒शपा॑याम् । अक्ष॑ वीळो वीळित वी॒ळय॑स्व॒ मा यामा॑द॒स्मादव॑ जीहिपो नः ॥ (१९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! हमारे रथ के सार रूप खदिर तथा शीशम के काठ को दृढ़ करो. हे जुए! हमने तुम्हें दृढ़ बनाया है. तुम दृढ़ बनो. इस चलते हुए रथ से हमें गिरा नहीं देना. (१९)
EN English Translation
O Indra! Strengthen the essence of our chariot, khadir and shisham's saddle. Hey yoke! We have made you firm. You be firm. Don't let us fall from this moving chariot. (19)
अ॒यम॒स्मान्वन॒स्पति॒र्मा च॒ हा मा च॑ रीरिषत् । स्व॒स्त्या गृ॒हेभ्य॒ आव॒सा आ वि॒मोच॑नात् ॥ (२०)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
वनस्पतियों से बना हुआ यह रथ हमें न छोड़े और न विनष्ट करे. हम लोग जब तक घर न पहुंचें, जब तक हमारा रथ चले और जब तक हम रथ से घोड़े अलग न कर दें, तब तक हमारा कल्याण हो. (२०)
EN English Translation
Let this chariot made of vegetation not leave us or destroy us. We may have welfare until we reach home, until our chariot runs and until we separate the horses from the chariot. (20)
इन्द्रो॒तिभि॑र्बहु॒लाभि॑र्नो अ॒द्य या॑च्छ्रे॒ष्ठाभि॑र्मघवञ्छूर जिन्व । यो नो॒ द्वेष्ट्यध॑रः॒ सस्प॑दीष्ट॒ यमु॑ द्वि॒ष्मस्तमु॑ प्रा॒णो ज॑हातु ॥ (२१)

हे शूर एवं धनस्वामी इंद्र! हम शत्रुविनाशकारियों को श्रेष्ठ एवं विविध रक्षा उपायों द्वारा प्रसन्न करो. जो हमसे द्वेष करे, वे नीचे गिरे तथा हम जिससे द्वेष करें उसे आप त्याग दें (२१)
EN English Translation
O Shur and Dhanaswami Indra! Let us please the enemy destroyers with the best and various defence measures. Those who hate us fall down, and let us forsake the one whom we hate.
प॒र॒शुं चि॒द्वि त॑पति शिम्ब॒लं चि॒द्वि वृ॑श्चति । उ॒खा चि॑दिन्द्र॒ येष॑न्ती॒ प्रय॑स्ता॒ फेन॑मस्यति ॥ (२२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! हमारे शत्रु कुल्हाड़ी को देखकर वृक्ष के समान संतप्त हों, सेमल के फूल के समान अनायास ही उनके अंग गिर पड़ें एवं हमारे मंत्रबल से वे भोजन पकाने वाली हांडी के समान मुंह से फेन गिरावें. (२२)

O Indra! May our enemies be as angry as a tree when they see the axe, their limbs fall down spontaneously like a semal flower, and with our spell power they should fall foam from their mouths like a handi that cooks food. (22)
न साय॑कस्य चिकिते जनासो लो॒धं न॑यन्ति॒ पशु॒ मन्य॑मानाः । नावा॑जिनं वा॒जिना॑ हासयन्ति॒ न ग॑र्द॒भं पु॒रो अश्वा॑न्नयन्ति ॥ (२३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे मनुष्यो! तुम विश्वामित्र के मंत्रों की शक्ति नहीं जानते हो. तपस्या नष्ट होने के लोभ से चुप बैठे हुए मुझे तुम पशु के समान बांधकर ले जा रहे हो. सर्वज्ञ मूर्ख की हंसी नहीं उड़ाता और न गधे को घोड़े के सामने लाया जाता है. (२३)
EN English Translation
O men! You don't know the power of Vishwamitra's mantras. Sitting in silence with the greed of the destruction of penance, you are taking me like an animal. The omniscient fool does not laugh, nor is the donkey brought before the horse. (23)
इ॒म इ॑न्द्र भर॒तस्य॑ पु॒त्रा अ॑पपि॒त्वं चि॑कितु॒र्न प्र॑पि॒त्वम् । हि॒न्वन्त्यश्व॒मर॑णं॒ न नित्यं॒ ज्या॑वाजं॒ परि॑ णयन्त्या॒जौ ॥ (२४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! भरतवंशी-क्षत्रिय वशिष्ठ दूर होना जानते हैं, मिलना नहीं जानते. वे संग्राम में वशिष्ठगोत्रीय जनों के प्रति सच्चे शत्रु के समान घोड़े दौड़ाते हैं एवं धनुष उठाते हैं. (२४)

O Indra! Bharatvanshi-Kshatriya Vashishtha knows how to be away, not to meet. They run horses like a true enemy towards the Vashishthagotrians in the battle and raise bows. (24)
