या त॑ ऊ॒तिर॑व॒मा या प॑र॒मा या म॑ध्य॒मेन्द्र॑ शुष्मि॒न्नस्ति॑ । ताभि॑रू॒ षु वृ॑त्र॒हत्ये॑ऽवीर्न ए॒भिश्च॒ वाजै॑र्म॒हान्न॑ उग्र ॥ (१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे बलवान् इंद्र! तुम्हारे जो अधम, मध्यम एवं उत्तम रक्षा-साधन हैं, उनके द्वारा युद्ध में हमारी भली-भांति रक्षा करो. हे उग्र एवं महान् इंद्र! तुम हमें भोजन के साधनरूप अन्न से युक्त करो. (१)
EN English Translation
O Balavan Indra! Protect us well in battle through the inferior, medium and best means of protection that you have. O you are fierce and great Indra! You give us food as a means of food. (1)
आभिः॒ स्पृधो॑ मिथ॒तीररि॑षण्यन्न॒मित्र॑स्य व्यथया म॒न्युमि॑न्द्र । आभि॒र्विश्वा॑ अभि॒युजो॒ विषू॑ची॒रार्या॑य॒ विशोऽव॑ तारी॒र्दासीः॑ ॥ (२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! हमारी स्तुतियों से प्रसन्न होकर हमारी शत्रुघातिनी सेना की रक्षा करते हुए शत्रुओं के कोष को समाप्त करो. इन्हीं स्तुतियों से प्रसन्न होकर यज्ञ करने वाले यजमान के कल्याण के लिए या कार्यों को नष्ट करने वाली सभी प्रजाओं को समाप्त करो. (२)
EN English Translation
O Indra! Be pleased with our praises and end the enemy's treasures while protecting our enemy army. Pleased with these praises, finish all the people who perform the yajna for the welfare of the host or who destroy the deeds. (2)
इन्द्र॑ जा॒मय॑ उ॒त येऽजा॑मयोऽर्वाची॒नासो॑ व॒नुषो॑ युयु॒ज्रे । त्वमे॑षां विथु॒रा शवां॑सि ज॒हि वृष्ण्या॑नि कृणु॒ही परा॑चः ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! जो निकट या दूर स्थित शत्रु हमारे सामने न आकर हमारी हिंसा करने के लिए तैयार हैं, तुम उन शत्रुओं के बलों को हीन करो उनकी शक्ति समाप्त करो एवं उन्हें हमसे विमुख बना ओ. (३)
EN English Translation
O Indra! Those who are ready to commit violence against us, those who are near or far away, do not come before us, you should deprive the forces of those enemies, destroy their power and turn them away from us.
शूरो॑ वा॒ शूरं॑ वनते॒ शरी॑रैस्तनू॒रुचा॒ तरु॑षि॒ यत्कृ॒ण्वैते॑ । तो॒के वा॒ गोषु॒ तन॑ये॒ यद॒प्सु वि क्रन्द॑सी उ॒र्वरा॑सु॒ ब्रवै॑ते ॥ (४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! वीर तुम्हारा अनुग्रह पाकर अपनी शारीरिक शक्ति से विरोधी वीर को मार डालता है. शरीर से शोभा पाते हुए वे दोनों एक-दूसरे के विरोध में युद्ध करते हैं तथा पुत्र, पौत्र, गाय, जल एवं ऊपजाऊ भूमि के विषय में जोर-जोर से बातें करते हैं. (४)
EN English Translation
O Indra! Veer gets your grace and kills the opponent Veer with his physical strength. Adorning the body, they both fight against each other and talk loudly about the son, grandson, cow, water and the fertile land. (4)
न॒हि त्वा॒ शूरो॒ न तु॒रो न धृ॒ष्णुर्न त्वा॑ यो॒धो मन्य॑मानो यु॒योध॑ । इन्द्र॒ नकि॑ष्ट्वा॒ प्रत्य॑स्त्येषां॒ विश्वा॑ जा॒तान्य॒भ्य॑सि॒ तानि॑ ॥ (५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! शूर, शत्रुनाशक, विजय पाने वाले एवं युद्ध में क्रुद्ध होते हुए योद्धा तुम्हारे साथ युद्ध करने को तैयार नहीं होते. हे इंद्र! इन लोगों में कोई भी तुम्हारे बराबर नहीं है. तुम उन सबको हराते हो. (५)
EN English Translation
O Indra! Brave, hostile, victorious and angry in the war, the warriors are not ready to fight with you. O Indra! None of these people is equal to you. You beat them all. (5)
स प॑त्यत उ॒भयो॑र्नृ॒म्णम॒योर्यदी॑ वे॒धसः॑ समि॒थे हव॑न्ते । वृ॒त्रे वा॑ म॒हो नृ॒वति॒ क्षये॑ वा॒ व्यच॑स्वन्ता॒ यदि॑ वितन्त॒सैते॑ ॥ (६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
दास-दासियों वाले घर के लिए जो दो व्यक्ति आपस में लड़ते हैं, उन में से वही धन पाता है, जिसके ऋत्विजू इंद्र के निमित्त हवन करते हैं. (६)
EN English Translation
Out of the two men who fight among themselves for the house with servants and maids, they get the same wealth, which Ritwiju performs for indra's sake. (6)
अध॑ स्मा ते चर्ष॒णयो॒ यदेजा॒निन्द्र॑ त्रा॒तोत भ॑वा वरू॒ता । अ॒स्माका॑सो॒ ये नृत॑मासो अ॒र्य इन्द्र॑ सू॒रयो॑ दधि॒रे पु॒रो नः॑ ॥ (७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! तुम्हारे स्तोता जब भय से कांपने लगें तो तुम उनका पालन एवं रक्षण करो. हे इंद्र! हमारे जो पुरुष यज्ञकार्य के नेता हैं एवं जिन्होंने हमें प्रधान बनाया है, तुम उनकी रक्षा करो. (७)
EN English Translation
O Indra! When your stomps tremble with fear, you must obey and protect them. O Indra! Protect our men who are the leaders of the sacrificial work and who have made us the chiefs. (7)
अनु॑ ते दायि म॒ह इ॑न्द्रि॒याय॑ स॒त्रा ते॒ विश्व॒मनु॑ वृत्र॒हत्ये॑ । अनु॑ क्ष॒त्रमनु॒ सहो॑ यज॒त्रेन्द्र॑ दे॒वेभि॒रनु॑ ते नृ॒षह्ये॑ ॥ (८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे महान् इंद्र! तुम्हारा ऐश्वर्य बढ़ाने के निमित्त शत्रुवध के लिए तुम्हें सभी शक्तियां दी गई हैं. हे यज्ञपात्र इंद्र! युद्ध में तुम्हें सभी देवों ने ऐसा बल दिया है, जिससे तुम शत्रुओं का नाश करने के साथ ही सबको धारण कर सको. (८)
EN English Translation
O great Indra! You have been given all the powers for enmity in order to increase your glory. O Yagyapatra Indra! In war, all the gods have given you such a force that you can destroy your enemies as well as possess them all. (8)
ए॒वा नः॒ स्पृधः॒ सम॑जा स॒मत्स्विन्द्र॑ रार॒न्धि मि॑थ॒तीरदे॑वीः । वि॒द्याम॒ वस्तो॒रव॑सा गृ॒णन्तो॑ भ॒रद्वा॑जा उ॒त त॑ इन्द्र नू॒नम् ॥ (९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! तुम इस प्रकार स्तुतियां सुनकर युद्धों में शत्रु सेनाओं को मारने के लिए हमें प्रेरित करो एवं हिंसा करती हुई असुर सेनाओं को वश में करो. हे इंद्र! हम भरद्वाजवंशीय ऋषि तुम्हारी स्तुति करते हुए अन्न के साथ ही निवास स्थान प्राप्त करें. (९)
EN English Translation
O Indra! You should thus hear praises and inspire us to kill enemy armies in wars and subdue the asura armies who commit violence. O Indra! May we, the Sages of Bhardavajavanshi, praise you and get the dwelling place along with the food. (9)
