जब यजमान यज्ञ करते हुए शोभन जल मांगते हैं, तब सोम धरती-आकाश को जलों से भर देते हैं. सोम अपनी महिमा द्वारा अतिशय तेजस्वी जलों को ढकते हैं. ऋत्विज् हव्य धारण करके दीप्तिशाली सोम का स्थान जान गए. (२)
