अ॒भि नो॑ वाज॒सात॑मं र॒यिम॑र्ष पुरु॒स्पृह॑म् । इन्दो॑ स॒हस्र॑भर्णसं तुविद्यु॒म्नं वि॑भ्वा॒सह॑म् ॥ (१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे दीप्त सोम! हमें पर्याप्त अन्न देने वाला, बहुतों द्वारा अभिलषित, अनेक प्रकार से भरणपोषण करने वाला एवं बड़ों को हराने वाला पुत्र दो. (१)
EN English Translation
O bright Mon! Give us a son who gives us enough food, who is loved by many, who sustains in many ways, and who defeats the elders. (1)
परि॒ ष्य सु॑वा॒नो अ॒व्ययं॒ रथे॒ न वर्मा॑व्यत । इन्दु॑र॒भि द्रुणा॑ हि॒तो हि॑या॒नो धारा॑भिरक्षाः ॥ (२)

निचुड़ते हुए सोम भेड़ के बालों से बने दशापवित्र पर ऐसे स्थित होते हैं, जैसे रथ में बैठा हुआ पुरुष कवच धारण करता है. स्तोताओं द्वारा प्रशंसित सोम द्रोणकलश में भरते हुए धाराओं के रूप में गिरते हैं. (२)
EN English Translation
The screeching mons are situated on the dashapavitra made of sheep's hair, just as the man sitting in the chariot holds the armor. The somas admired by the Psalms fall as streams filling in the Dronakalash. (2)
परि॒ ष्य सु॑वा॒नो अ॑क्षा॒ इन्दु॒रव्ये॒ मद॑च्युतः । धारा॒ य ऊ॒र्ध्वो अ॑ध्व॒रे भ्रा॒जा नैति॑ गव्य॒युः ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
निचोड़े जाते हुए सोम देवों के द्वारा नशे के लिए प्रेरित होकर भेड़ के बालों से बने दशापवित्र पर सब ओर से छनते हैं. यज्ञ में प्रमुख गाय की अभिलाषा करने वाले सोम जिस प्रकार धारा के रूप में जाते हैं, उसी तेजपूर्ण दीप्ति के साथ अंतरिक्ष में जाते हैं. (३)
EN English Translation
Being squeezed, som is inspired by the gods to get drunk and sifts from all sides on the dashapavittra made of sheep's hair. The way Som, who aspires for the dominant cow in the yagna, goes into space with the same bright glow as the stream. (3)
स हि त्वं दे॑व॒ शश्व॑ते॒ वसु॒ मर्ता॑य दा॒शुषे॑ । इन्दो॑ सह॒स्रिणं॑ र॒यिं श॒तात्मा॑नं विवाससि ॥ (४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे सोम! तुम बहुत से मनुष्यों और मुझ यजमान को दान देते हो. हे दीप्तिशाली सोम! तुम सैकड़ों और हजारों प्रकार का धन देते हो. (४)
EN English Translation
Hey Mon! You give many human beings and to my host. O radiant Mon! You give hundreds and thousands of kinds of money. (4)
व॒यं ते॑ अ॒स्य वृ॑त्रह॒न्वसो॒ वस्वः॑ पुरु॒स्पृहः॑ । नि नेदि॑ष्ठतमा इ॒षः स्याम॑ सु॒म्नस्या॑ध्रिगो ॥ (५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे शत्रुनाशक सोम! हम तुम्हारे हैं. हे निवासस्थान देने वाले सोम! हम तुम्हारे द्वारा प्रदत्त एवं बहुतों द्वारा अभिलाषा योग्य धन के बहुत पास रहें. हे अबाध गति वाले सोम! हम सुख के बहुत पास रहें. (५)
EN English Translation
O enemy-destroying Mon! We are yours. O Mon who gives the abode! May we be very close to the money you have given and desired by many. O unchallenged Mon! Let's be very close to happiness. (5)
द्विर्यं पञ्च॒ स्वय॑शसं॒ स्वसा॑रो॒ अद्रि॑संहतम् । प्रि॒यमिन्द्र॑स्य॒ काम्यं॑ प्रस्ना॒पय॑न्त्यू॒र्मिण॑म् ॥ (६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
काम करने के लिए इधर-उधर जाने वाली दस उंगलियों द्वारा पत्थरों की सहायता से निचोड़े गए, इंद्र के प्रिय, सबके द्वारा अभिलषित एवं लहरों वाले सोम को जल में स्नान कराती हैं. (६)
EN English Translation
Squeezed with the help of stones by ten fingers going around to work, Indra's beloved, admired by everyone and the wavy Som bathes in the water. (6)
परि॒ त्यं ह॑र्य॒तं हरिं॑ ब॒भ्रुं पु॑नन्ति॒ वारे॑ण । यो दे॒वान्विश्वा॒ँ इत्परि॒ मदे॑न स॒ह गच्छ॑ति ॥ (७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
सबके द्वारा अभिलाषा योग्य, हरे रंग वाले व मटमैले वर्णयुक्त सोम को भेड़ के बालों से बने दशापवित्र द्वारा छाना जाता है. सोम अपना नशीला रस लेकर सभी देवों के पास जाते हैं. (७)
EN English Translation
The soma, which is worthy of desire by everyone, green and with a mottled colour, is sifted by the dashapavitra made of sheep's hair. Som goes to all the gods with his intoxicating juice. (7)
अ॒स्य वो॒ ह्यव॑सा॒ पान्तो॑ दक्ष॒साध॑नम् । यः सू॒रिषु॒ श्रवो॑ बृ॒हद्द॒धे स्व१॒॑र्ण ह॑र्य॒तः ॥ (८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
तुम लोग सोम द्वारा सुरक्षित होकर इसके शक्तिसाधन रस को पिओ. सबके द्वारा अभिलषित सोम सूर्य के समान स्तोताओं को महान् धन देते हैं. (८)
EN English Translation
You guys, secured by Mon, drink its shaktisadhan juice. The mons, desired by all, give great wealth to the hymns like the sun. (8)
स वां॑ य॒ज्ञेषु॑ मानवी॒ इन्दु॑र्जनिष्ट रोदसी । दे॒वो दे॑वी गिरि॒ष्ठा अस्रे॑ध॒न्तं तु॑वि॒ष्वणि॑ ॥ (९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे मनु द्वारा अधिकृत एवं तेजपूर्ण द्यावा-पृथिवी! सोम ने तुम दोनों को यज्ञ में उत्पन्न किया है. अधिक शब्द वाले यज्ञ में ऋत्विजों ने सोमरस निचोड़ा. (९)
EN English Translation
It is authorized by Manu and radiantly appointed by The Day-Earth! Som has created both of you in the yagna. In a more worded yagna, the Ritvijas squeezed the somras. (9)
इन्द्रा॑य सोम॒ पात॑वे वृत्र॒घ्ने परि॑ षिच्यसे । नरे॑ च॒ दक्षि॑णावते दे॒वाय॑ सदना॒सदे॑ ॥ (१०)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे सोम! तुम वृत्रहंता इंद्र के पान हेतु पात्रों में निचोड़े जाते हो. तुम ऋत्विजों को दक्षिणा देने वाले एवं देवों को हव्य देने की इच्छा से यज्ञशाला में बैठे हुए यजमान को फल देने के लिए निचोड़े जाते हो. (१०)
EN English Translation
Hey Mon! You are squeezed into the vessels for the paan of Vrithrahanta Indra. You are squeezed to bear fruit to the host sitting in the yajnashala with the desire to give dakshina to the ritvijs and to give a greeting to the gods. (10)
ते प्र॒त्नासो॒ व्यु॑ष्टिषु॒ सोमाः॑ प॒वित्रे॑ अक्षरन् । अ॒प॒प्रोथ॑न्तः सनु॒तर्हु॑र॒श्चितः॑ प्रा॒तस्ताँ अप्र॑चेतसः ॥ (११)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
प्रत्येक प्रातःकाल में प्राचीन सोम दशापवित्र के ऊपर निचोड़े जाते हैं. सोम छिपे हुए, ज्ञानरहित एवं चोरों को प्रातःकाल ही भगा देते हैं. (११)
EN English Translation
Every morning the ancient somas are squeezed over the dashapavittra. Som drives away the hidden, the knowledgeless and the thieves in the morning itself. (11)
तं स॑खायः पुरो॒रुचं॑ यू॒यं व॒यं च॑ सू॒रयः॑ । अ॒श्याम॒ वाज॑गन्ध्यं स॒नेम॒ वाज॑पस्त्यम् ॥ (१२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे मित्रो! हम और तुम दोनों ही विशेष ज्ञान वाले हैं. हम सामने सुशोभित एवं बलकारक उत्तम गंध वाले सोम को पिएं. हम बलकारक सोम की सेवा करें. (१२)
EN English Translation
Oh, my friends! You and I both have special knowledge. We drink the beautified and forcefully smelling mon in front of us. We serve the forcer mon. (12)
