Ravan was a 'Gentlemen'.

? The Common Claim

"Ravan was a highly educated gentleman. Even though he kidnapped Sita, he never touched her or forced himself upon her because he respected women and had a strict moral code."

The Actual Truth
The Reality is that Ravan did not spare Devi Sita out of RESPECT or GENTLEMENLY BEHAVIOR.  He kept his distance strictly due to a terrifying curse that that would instantly end his life if he ever forced himself upon any woman again. Far from being a gentleman, original texts like The Valmiki Ramayana explicitly record that Ravan was a serial offender who had assaulted, molested and raped numerous women throughout his life.

Detailed Investigation

When he look into Ravan's actions across ancient scriptures, a clear pattern of severe violence and sexual assault emerges.

1. A Documented History of Rape:

The Rape of Rambha: In the Uttara Kanda, Ravan encountered the celestial nymph(Apsara) Rambha on a mountain. Rambha begged him to stop, explicitly telling him that she was betrothed to his nephew Nalakubara (making her effectively his daughter in law by relation). Blinded by lust and arrogance, Ravan mocked her pleas and brutally raped her.

The Rape of Madanamanjari: Scriptures also record that he raped Madanamanjari, the wife of a Vedic ascetic named Rtuvarman, in the Marutta forest.

Mass Abductions: The Valmiki Ramayan states that Ravan's palace in Lanka was filled with hundreds of Women, including daughters of sages, royal queens, and celestial beings, whom he had forcefully kidnapped and kept as captives for his pleasure after defeating or killing their families.

2. The Real Reason He Didn't Touched Devi Sita:

Ravan's history of sexual violence is exactly what saved Devi Sita. After Ravan raped Rambha, she returned to her husband Nalakubara in tears and narrated the horrific event. Enraged Nalakubara placed a definitive, life altering curse on Ravan, "If you ever carry away by lust and do violence to any woman who does not love or share your affection, your head will split into seven pieces instantly."

Later when Ravan tried to humiliate Punjkadevi (the daughter of Brahma), the same fatal curse was reiterated. Therefore, Ravan kept his distance from Sita out of sheer fear of instant death, not out of gentlemenly respect.

3. Terrifying Threats and Torture:

The Breakfast Threat: In the Sundara Kanda, Ravan explicitly gives Devi Sita an ultimatum, if she does not accept him within two months, his royal cooks will chop her into pieces for his morning breakfast.

Mental Harassment: He ordered fearsome demonnesses (Rakshasis) to surround Devi Sita day and night, terrorizing her, poking her with weapons and threatening to eat her alive until she agrees to surrenders to Ravan's wishes.

4. Physical Violence During Kidnapping:

During the abduction in the Aranya Kanda, Ravan violently grabbed Devi Sita by her hair and her waist, dragged her into his flying chariot (Pushpak Vimana) And flew away while she screamed and cried for help. Before this, he had also physical assaulted the ascetic woman Vadavati by pulling her hair when she rejected his advances, leading her to immolate herself in a ritual fire.

Let's Talk About Conclusion

While Ravan was undoubtedly a brilliant scholar, a master musician and a powerful demon king, but his behavior towards Women was greatly Toxic, criminal and predatory.

But still some Single Cell Brain people portray him as Gentalman, ignores his documented history as a serial rapist whose hands were only tied by a curse not by morals.
