द्वे विरू॑पे चरतः॒ स्वर्थे॑ अ॒न्यान्या॑ व॒त्समुप॑ धापयेते । हरि॑र॒न्यस्यां॒ भव॑ति स्व॒धावा॑ञ्छु॒क्रो अ॒न्यस्यां॑ ददृशे सु॒वर्चाः॑ ॥ (१)

हे दिवस और रात्रि! तुम सुंदर प्रयोजन वाले एवं परस्पर विरुद्ध रूप से युक्त होकर चलते हो. रात और दिन दोनों, दोनों के पुत्ररक्षा करते हैं. रात्रि के पास से सूर्य हवि रूप अन्न प्राप्त करता है एवं दूसरा दिन के, पास से शोभन प्रकाश वाला दिखाई देता है. (१)
EN English Translation
O day and night! You are opposite of each other and walk with a beautiful purpose. Both night and day are protected by the sons of fire and sun. From near the night, the sun receives food in the form of a havi and the second appears to be of bright light from near the day. (1)
दशे॒मं त्वष्टु॑र्जनयन्त॒ गर्भ॒मत॑न्द्रासो युव॒तयो॒ विभृ॑त्रम् । ति॒ग्मानी॑कं॒ स्वय॑शसं॒ जने॑षु वि॒रोच॑मानं॒ परि॑ षीं नयन्ति ॥ (२)

अपने जगत्पोषण रूप कार्य में आलस्यरहित, नित्य युवा, दशों दिशाओं व मेघों में गर्भ रूप से वर्तमान वायु सब पदार्थों में वर्तमान, तीक्ष्ण तेजयुक्त एवं अतिशय यशस्वी अग्नि को उत्पन्न करती है. इसी अग्नि को सब जगह ले जाया जाता है. (२)
EN English Translation
In its world-nurturing work, lazinessless, constantly young, in the decades of direction and clouds, the present air in the womb produces the present, sharp and very successful agni in all substances. This agni is carried everywhere. (2)
त्रीणि॒ जाना॒ परि॑ भूषन्त्यस्य समु॒द्र एकं॑ दि॒व्येक॑म॒प्सु । पूर्वा॒मनु॒ प्र दिशं॒ पार्थि॑वानामृ॒तून्प्र॒शास॒द्वि द॑धावनु॒ष्ठु ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
समुद्र, आकाश और अंतरिक्ष-ये अग्नि के तीन जन्मस्थान हैं. सूर्यरूप अग्नि ने ऋतुओं को विभक्त करके बताते हुए पृथ्वी पर रहने वाले समस्त प्राणियों के निमित्त पूर्व दिशा को अनुक्रम से बनाया. (३)
EN English Translation
The sea, the sky, and the space are the three birthplaces of agni. The sun-form agni divided the seasons and made the east direction in a sequence for all the beings living on earth. (3)
क इ॒मं वो॑ नि॒ण्यमा चि॑केत व॒त्सो मा॒तॄर्ज॑नयत स्व॒धाभिः॑ । ब॒ह्वी॒नां गर्भो॑ अ॒पसा॑मु॒पस्था॑न्म॒हान्क॒विर्निश्च॑रति स्व॒धावा॑न् ॥ (४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे यजमानो! जल, वन आदि में गर्भरूप से स्थित अग्नि को तुम में से कोन जानता है? अर्थात् कोई नहीं. यह पुत्र होकर भी अपनी जलरूपी माताओं को हव्य द्वारा जन्म देता है. यह प्रौढ़ तेज वाला, क्रांतदर्शी एवं हवि रूप अन्न से युक्त अग्नि अनेक प्रकार के जलों को उत्पन्न करने का कारण बनकर समुद्र से सूर्य रूप में निकलता है. (४)
EN English Translation
O hosts! Who among you knows the agni inherently in water, forest, etc. i.e. none. It, even being a son, gives birth to its water-like mothers through havan. This adult, fast-paced, and crystalline agni comes out of the sea in the form of the sun, causing the production of many types of water. (4)
आ॒विष्ट्यो॑ वर्धते॒ चारु॑रासु जि॒ह्माना॑मू॒र्ध्वः स्वय॑शा उ॒पस्थे॑ । उ॒भे त्वष्टु॑र्बिभ्यतु॒र्जाय॑मानात्प्रती॒ची सिं॒हं प्रति॑ जोषयेते ॥ (५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
मेघों में तिरछे रहने वाले जल की गोद में रहकर भी ऊपर की ओर जलता हुआ अग्नि शोभन दीप्ति वाला बनकर चमकता एवं बढ़ता है. त्वष्टा से उत्पन्न अग्नि से धरती और आकाश दोनों डरते हैं एवं सहनशील अग्नि के समीप आकर सेवा करते हैं. (५)
EN English Translation
Even in the lap of water that remains diagonally in the clouds, the agni burning upwards shines and grows brightly. Both the earth and the sky are afraid of the agni produced by the skin and come close to the forbearing agni and serve. (5)
उ॒भे भ॒द्रे जो॑षयेते॒ न मेने॒ गावो॒ न वा॒श्रा उप॑ तस्थु॒रेवैः॑ । स दक्षा॑णां॒ दक्ष॑पतिर्बभूवा॒ञ्जन्ति॒ यं द॑क्षिण॒तो ह॒विर्भिः॑ ॥ (६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
रात और दिन दोनों शोभन स्त्रियों के समान अग्नि की सेवा करते एवं रंभाती हुई गायों के समान पास में आकर ठहरते हैं. आह्वानीय अग्नि के दक्षिण भाग में स्थित होकर ऋत्विज् हव्य द्वारा जिस अग्नि को तृप्त करते हैं, वह समस्त बलों का स्वामी बनता है. (६)
EN English Translation
Both night and day, shobhan serves the agni like women and comes and stays nearby like a roaring cows. The agni which is satiated by Rituzhavya, which is located in the southern part of the invoicing agni, becomes the master of all forces. (6)
उद्यं॑यमीति सवि॒तेव॑ बा॒हू उ॒भे सिचौ॑ यतते भी॒म ऋ॒ञ्जन् । उच्छु॒क्रमत्क॑मजते सि॒मस्मा॒न्नवा॑ मा॒तृभ्यो॒ वस॑ना जहाति ॥ (७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
भयंकर अग्नि सूर्य की भुजा रूपी किरणों के समान अपने तेज को विस्तृत करते एवं धरती-आकाश दोनों को अलंकृत करके उनके काम में लगाते हैं तथा समस्त पदार्थो से तेजस्वी एवं साररूप रस ग्रहण करते हैं. वे अपनी माता रूप जल से सारे संसार को ढकने वाला नवीन तेज बनाते हैं. (७)
EN English Translation
Fierce agni expands its brightness like the rays of the sun's arm and embellishes both the earth and the sky and puts them into their work and take the bright and sarform juice from all the substances. They create a new fast covering the whole world with their mother's form of water. (7)
त्वे॒षं रू॒पं कृ॑णुत॒ उत्त॑रं॒ यत्स॑म्पृञ्चा॒नः सद॑ने॒ गोभि॑र॒द्भिः । क॒विर्बु॒ध्नं परि॑ मर्मृज्यते॒ धीः सा दे॒वता॑ता॒ समि॑तिर्बभूव ॥ (८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जब अग्नि अंतरिक्ष में चलने वाले जलों से संयुक्त, तेजस्वी एवं सर्वोत्तम प्रकाश धारण करते हैं, तब क्रांतदर्शी एवं सर्वाधार अग्नि समस्त जल के मूलभूत आकाश को अपने तेज के द्वारा ढक लेते हैं. तेजस्वी अग्ने द्वारा फैलाई हुई चमक तेजसमूह बन गई थी. (८)
EN English Translation
When agnis hold the combined, brightest and best light from the waters that move in space, the revolutionary and all-round agnis cover the basic sky of all the water with its brightness. The brightness spread by the stunning agne had become a bright group. (8)
उ॒रु ते॒ ज्रयः॒ पर्ये॑ति बु॒ध्नं वि॒रोच॑मानं महि॒षस्य॒ धाम॑ । विश्वे॑भिरग्ने॒ स्वय॑शोभिरि॒द्धोऽद॑ब्धेभिः पा॒युभिः॑ पाह्य॒स्मान् ॥ (९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे महान् अग्नि! तुम्हारा सबको पराभूत करने वाला एवं चमकता हुआ तेज जल के मूल कारण आकाश को सब ओर से घेरे हुए है. तुम्हारा तेज अदृश्य एवं पालक है. तुम हमारे द्वारा प्रज्वलित होकर अपने तेजों के साथ यहां आओ. (९)
EN English Translation
O great agni! The root cause of the bright water that is causing you to overwhelm all and shine is surrounding the sky from all sides. Your speed is invisible and spinach. You come here with your radiances ignited by us. (9)
धन्व॒न्स्रोतः॑ कृणुते गा॒तुमू॒र्मिं शु॒क्रैरू॒र्मिभि॑र॒भि न॑क्षति॒ क्षाम् । विश्वा॒ सना॑नि ज॒ठरे॑षु धत्ते॒ऽन्तर्नवा॑सु चरति प्र॒सूषु॑ ॥ (१०)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
अग्नि आकाश में गमनशील जलसमूह को प्रवाह का रूप देते एवं उसी निर्मल किरणों वाले जलसमूह से धरती को भिगोते हैं. वे जठर में संपूर्ण अन्नों को धारण करते हैं, इसीलिए वर्षा के पश्चात् उत्पन्न नवीन फसलों के भीतर रहते हैं. (१०)
EN English Translation
Fire gives the form of a flow to the water body moving in the sky and soaks the earth with the same group of pure rays of water. They hold entire grains in the stomach, so they live within the new crops produced after the rains. (10)
ए॒वा नो॑ अग्ने स॒मिधा॑ वृधा॒नो रे॒वत्पा॑वक॒ श्रव॑से॒ वि भा॑हि । तन्नो॑ मि॒त्रो वरु॑णो मामहन्ता॒मदि॑तिः॒ सिन्धुः॑ पृथि॒वी उ॒त द्यौः ॥ (११)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे शोधक अग्नि! समिधाओं के कारण प्रज्वलित होकर हमें धनयुक्त अन्न देने के लिए विशेष रूप से चमको. मित्र, वरुण, अदिति, सिंधु, धरती और आकाश उस अन्न की पूजा करें. (११)
EN English Translation
O seeker agni! Shine especially to give us rich food by igniting because of the samidahas. Friends, Varuna, Aditi, Sindhu, Earth and Sky should worship that food. (11)
