त्वे ह॒ यत्पि॒तर॑श्चिन्न इन्द्र॒ विश्वा॑ वा॒मा ज॑रि॒तारो॒ अस॑न्वन् । त्वे गावः॑ सु॒दुघा॒स्त्वे ह्यश्वा॒स्त्वं वसु॑ देवय॒ते वनि॑ष्ठः ॥ (१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! हमारे पितरों ने तुम्हारा स्तुतिकर्ता बनकर समस्त उत्तम धनों को प्राप्त किया था. तुम्हारी गाएं सरलता से दुही जाने वाली हैं एवं तुम अश्चों के स्वामी हो. तुम देवों के अभिलाषियों को अधिक देते हो. (१)
EN English Translation
O Indra! Our fathers received all the best wealth by becoming your praises. Your songs are easy to repeat and you are the master of the wonders. You give more to the desires of the gods. (1)
राजे॑व॒ हि जनि॑भिः॒ क्षेष्ये॒वाव॒ द्युभि॑र॒भि वि॒दुष्क॒विः सन् । पि॒शा गिरो॑ मघव॒न्गोभि॒रश्वै॑स्त्वाय॒तः शि॑शीहि रा॒ये अ॒स्मान् ॥ (२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! तुम अपनी पत्नियों के साथ राजा के समान शोभा पाते हो. हे विद्वान् एवं कवि इंद्र! स्तोताओं को स्वर्ण आदि धन, गायों एवं अश्चों से सभी प्रकार संपन्न बनाओ. हम तुम्हारे अभिलाषी हैं. तुम धनप्राप्ति के लिए हमारा संस्कार करो. (२)
EN English Translation
O Indra! You are as gracious as a king with your wives. O scholar and poet Indra! Make the hymns rich in all manner with wealth, cows and ashes like gold etc. We are your desire. You do our rites for the sake of wealth. (2)
इ॒मा उ॑ त्वा पस्पृधा॒नासो॒ अत्र॑ म॒न्द्रा गिरो॑ देव॒यन्ती॒रुप॑ स्थुः । अ॒र्वाची॑ ते प॒थ्या॑ रा॒य ए॑तु॒ स्याम॑ ते सुम॒तावि॑न्द्र॒ शर्म॑न् ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! इस यज्ञ में परस्पर स्पर्धा करती हुई एवं प्रसन्न करने वाली स्तुतियां तुम्हारे पास जाती हैं. तुम्हारे धन का मार्ग हमारी ओर हो. तुम्हारी कृपा से हम सुखी हों. (३)
EN English Translation
O Indra! In this yajna, mutually competing and pleasing praises go to you. May the path of your wealth be on our side. May we be happy by your grace. (3)
धे॒नुं न त्वा॑ सू॒यव॑से॒ दुदु॑क्ष॒न्नुप॒ ब्रह्मा॑णि ससृजे॒ वसि॑ष्ठः । त्वामिन्मे॒ गोप॑तिं॒ विश्व॑ आ॒हा न॒ इन्द्रः॑ सुम॒तिं ग॒न्त्वच्छ॑ ॥ (४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! जिस प्रकार उत्तम घास वाली गोशाला में गाय को दुहा जाता है, उसी प्रकार तुम्हें दुहने की इच्छा से वसिष्ठ ने स्तोत्ररूपी बछड़ा बनाया है. संसारभर तुम्हें ही गायों का स्वामी कहता है. तुम हमारी शोभनस्तुति के समीप आओ. (४)
EN English Translation
O Indra! Just as a cow is milked in a goshala with good grass, vasishta has made a calf in the form of a hymn with the desire to milk you. The whole world calls you the master of cows. You come close to our adornment. (4)
अर्णां॑सि चित्पप्रथा॒ना सु॒दास॒ इन्द्रो॑ गा॒धान्य॑कृणोत्सुपा॒रा । शर्ध॑न्तं शि॒म्युमु॒चथ॑स्य॒ नव्यः॒ शापं॒ सिन्धू॑नामकृणो॒दश॑स्तीः ॥ (५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे स्तुतियोग्य इंद्र! तुमने सुदास राजा के लिए परुष्णी नदी की भयानक धारा को भी उथला और सरलता से पार करने योग्य बनाया था. तुमने स्तोता के प्रति उस शाप को नष्ट किया था, जो नदियों में बाढ़ लाता है एवं उनका प्रवाह रोकता है. (५)
EN English Translation
O praiseworthy Indra! You also made the terrible stream of the Parushni river shallow and easily transgressible for the Sudas king. You destroyed the curse against the Stota, which floods the rivers and stops their flow. (5)
पु॒रो॒ळा इत्तु॒र्वशो॒ यक्षु॑रासीद्रा॒ये मत्स्या॑सो॒ निशि॑ता॒ अपी॑व । श्रु॒ष्टिं च॑क्रु॒र्भृग॑वो द्रु॒ह्यव॑श्च॒ सखा॒ सखा॑यमतर॒द्विषू॑चोः ॥ (६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
तुर्वश नाम के एक यज्ञकुशल एवं अग्रगामी राजा थे. जल में मछली के समान नियंत्रित रहने पर भी भृगुवंशी एवं वं योद्धाओं ने सुदास एवं तुर्वश को आमने-सामने कर दिया. इंद्र ने इन दोनों में से अपने मित्र सुदास का उद्धार कर दिया एवं तुर्वश को मार डाला. (६)
EN English Translation
There was a yajnakushala and agragami king named Turvash. Even though the fish in the water were as controlled as the fish, the Bhriguvanshis and the warriors put Sudas and Turvash face to face. Indra saved his friend Sudas from the two and killed Turvash. (6)
आ प॒क्थासो॑ भला॒नसो॑ भन॒न्तालि॑नासो विषा॒णिनः॑ शि॒वासः॑ । आ योऽन॑यत्सध॒मा आर्य॑स्य ग॒व्या तृत्सु॑भ्यो अजगन्यु॒धा नॄन् ॥ (७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हव्यों को पकाने वाले, भद्रमुख, तपस्या के कारण दुर्बल, हाथ में सींग लिए हुए एवं सारे संसार के कल्याणकारी लोग इंद्र की स्तुति करते हैं. इंद्र सोमपान से प्रमत्त होकर आर्यो की गाएं हिंसकों से छुड़ा लाए थे. इंद्र ने गाएं प्राप्त की थीं एवं युद्ध में शत्रुओं को मारा था. (७)
EN English Translation
Those who cook the havyas, the bhadramukha, weak because of tapasya, holding horns in their hands and the welfare people of the whole world praise Indra. Indra was inspired by Sompan and rescued the aryans' cows from the violent. Indra had received cows and killed the enemies in the war. (7)
दु॒रा॒ध्यो॒३॒॑ अदि॑तिं स्रे॒वय॑न्तोऽचे॒तसो॒ वि ज॑गृभ्रे॒ परु॑ष्णीम् । म॒ह्नावि॑व्यक्पृथि॒वीं पत्य॑मानः प॒शुष्क॒विर॑शय॒च्चाय॑मानः ॥ (८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
बुरे विचारों वाले एवं मंदबुद्धि शत्रुओं ने विशाल परुष्णी नदी को खोदकर उसके तट गिरा दिए थे. इंद्र की कृपा से सुदास धरती पर विस्तृत हो गए और उन्होंने चायमान के पुत्र कवि को पालतू पशु के समान मारकर धरती पर सुला दिया था. (८)
EN English Translation
The evil-minded and mentally retarded enemies had dug up the vast Parushni river and dropped it on its banks. By indra's grace, sudas expanded on the earth and he had killed the poet, the son of chaiman, like a pet and put him to sleep on the earth. (8)
ई॒युरर्थं॒ न न्य॒र्थं परु॑ष्णीमा॒शुश्च॒नेद॑भिपि॒त्वं ज॑गाम । सु॒दास॒ इन्द्रः॑ सु॒तुका॑ँ अ॒मित्रा॒नर॑न्धय॒न्मानु॑षे॒ वध्रि॑वाचः ॥ (९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
इंद्र द्वारा किनारे ठीक करने पर परुष्णी नदी का जल उचित दिशा में बहने लगा, उसका इधर-उधर जाना रुक गया. सुदास का अश्व भी अपने मार्ग पर चला. इंद्र ने सुदास के कल्याण के लिए व्यर्थ बातें करने वाले शत्रुओं को संतानसहित वश में किया था. (९)
EN English Translation
When Indra fixed the bank, the water of the Parushni river started flowing in the right direction, it stopped moving around. The horse of Sudas also walked his path. Indra had subdued the enemies who spoke in vain for the welfare of Sudas along with the children. (9)
ई॒युर्गावो॒ न यव॑सा॒दगो॑पा यथाकृ॒तम॒भि मि॒त्रं चि॒तासः॑ । पृश्नि॑गावः॒ पृश्नि॑निप्रेषितासः श्रु॒ष्टिं च॑क्रुर्नि॒युतो॒ रन्त॑यश्च ॥ (१०)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जिस प्रकार बिना ग्वाले की गाएं जौ के खेत की ओर जाती हैं, उसी प्रकार पृश्चि माता द्वारा भेजे गए एवं परस्पर सम्मिलित मरुदगण पूर्व निश्चय के अनुसार अपने मित्र इंद्र की ओर गए थे. मरुतों क्रे घोड़े भी प्रसन्न होकर इंद्र की ओर गए. (१०)
EN English Translation
Just as the cows without gwale go towards the barley field, so the deserts sent and interlinked by the mother of the earth went to their friend Indra according to the previous determination. Maruton Cray horses also went to Indra with delight. (10)
एकं॑ च॒ यो विं॑श॒तिं च॑ श्रव॒स्या वै॑क॒र्णयो॒र्जना॒न्राजा॒ न्यस्तः॑ । द॒स्मो न सद्म॒न्नि शि॑शाति ब॒र्हिः शूरः॒ सर्ग॑मकृणो॒दिन्द्र॑ एषाम् ॥ (११)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
राजा सुदास ने कीर्ति लाभ करने के लिए परुष्णी नदी के दोनों तटों पर बसे हुए इक्कीस मनुष्यों को मार डाला. युवा अध्वर्यु जिस प्रकार यज्ञशाला में कुशों को काटता है, उसी प्रकार सुदास ने शत्रुओं को काटा. इंद्र ने सुदास की सहायता के लिए मरुतों को उत्पन्न किया है. (११)
EN English Translation
King Sudas killed twenty-one humans who were settled on both the banks of the Parushni river to gain fame. Just as the young adhwaryu cuts the Kushas in the yajnashala, so did Sudas cut the enemies. Indra has created maruts to help Sudas. (11)
अध॑ श्रु॒तं क॒वषं॑ वृ॒द्धम॒प्स्वनु॑ द्रु॒ह्युं नि वृ॑ण॒ग्वज्र॑बाहुः । वृ॒णा॒ना अत्र॑ स॒ख्याय॑ स॒ख्यं त्वा॒यन्तो॒ ये अम॑द॒न्ननु॑ त्वा ॥ (१२)

वज्रबाहु इंद्र ने श्रुत, कवष, वृद्ध द नाम के लोगों को पानी में डुबा दिया था. इस अवसर पर जिन्होंने तुम्हारी स्तुति की, उन्होंने मित्र बनकर तुम्हारी मित्रता प्राप्त की. (१२)
EN English Translation
Vajrabahu Indra had immersed the people named Shrut, Kawash, Old Day in the water. Those who praised you on this occasion became friends with you and friendly you. (12)
वि स॒द्यो विश्वा॑ दृंहि॒तान्ये॑षा॒मिन्द्रः॒ पुरः॒ सह॑सा स॒प्त द॑र्दः । व्यान॑वस्य॒ तृत्स॑वे॒ गयं॑ भा॒ग्जेष्म॑ पू॒रुं वि॒दथे॑ मृ॒ध्रवा॑चम् ॥ (१३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
इंद्र ने श्रुत आदि की समस्त दृढ़ नगरियों एवं सात प्रकार के रक्षासाधनों को बल द्वारा नष्ट कर दिया था तथा अनु के पुत्र का धन तृत्सु को दे दिया था. हे इंद्र! हम युद्ध में कठोरवचन वाले शत्रु को जीत सकें. (१३)
EN English Translation
Indra had destroyed all the fortified cities of Shrut etc. and seven types of defence by force and gave the wealth of Anu's son to Tritsu. O Indra! We can conquer the harsh-rooted enemy in battle. (13)
नि ग॒व्यवोऽन॑वो द्रु॒ह्यव॑श्च ष॒ष्टिः श॒ता सु॑षुपुः॒ षट् स॒हस्रा॑ । ष॒ष्टिर्वी॒रासो॒ अधि॒ षड्दु॑वो॒यु विश्वेदिन्द्र॑स्य वी॒र्या॑ कृ॒तानि॑ ॥ (१४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
गायों की अभिलाषा करने वाले अनु और य के छियासठ हजार छियासठ वीर सैनिक इंद्र की सेवा के इच्छुक सुदास के कारण मारे गए थे. ये सब कार्य इंद्र की वीरता के हैं. (१४)
EN English Translation
Sixty-six thousand sixty-six thousand of Anu and Y who wished for cows were killed because of Sudas, who wanted to serve the heroic soldier Indra. All these acts are of Indra's heroism. (14)
इन्द्रे॑णै॒ते तृत्स॑वो॒ वेवि॑षाणा॒ आपो॒ न सृ॒ष्टा अ॑धवन्त॒ नीचीः॑ । दु॒र्मि॒त्रासः॑ प्रकल॒विन्मिमा॑ना ज॒हुर्विश्वा॑नि॒ भोज॑ना सु॒दासे॑ ॥ (१५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
ये तृत्सु लोग इंद्र के बुरे मित्र एवं ज्ञानहीन हैं. ये इंद्र के साथ युद्ध करने लगे और युद्ध छोड़ने की इच्छा से इस प्रकार भागे, जैसे नीचे की ओर बहने वाला पानी दौड़ता है. सुदास के द्वारा रोकने पर उन्होंने प्रयोग की सब चीजें सुदास को दे दीं. (१५)
EN English Translation
These trutsu people are indra's bad friends and knowledgeless. They began to fight with Indra and ran away with the desire to leave the war in such a way that the water flowing downwards runs. When stopped by Sudas, he gave all the things of the experiment to Sudas. (15)
अ॒र्धं वी॒रस्य॑ शृत॒पाम॑नि॒न्द्रं परा॒ शर्ध॑न्तं नुनुदे अ॒भि क्षाम् । इन्द्रो॑ म॒न्युं म॑न्यु॒म्यो॑ मिमाय भे॒जे प॒थो व॑र्त॒निं पत्य॑मानः ॥ (१६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
इंद्र ने ऐसे लोगों को मारकर धरती पर गिरा दिया था जो शक्तिशाली सुदास के हिंसक थे, इंद्र को नहीं मानते थे, हव्य के पालक और उत्साही थे. इंद्र ने क्रोधियों का क्रोध समाप्त कर दिया. सुदास का शत्रु पलायन के मार्ग पर चला गया. (१६)
EN English Translation
Indra had killed and cast down on earth people who were violent with the mighty Sudas, did not believe in Indra, were the guardians and enthusiasts of Havya. Indra ended the anger of the anger. Sudas' enemy went on the path of escape. (16)
आ॒ध्रेण॑ चि॒त्तद्वेकं॑ चकार सिं॒ह्यं॑ चि॒त्पेत्वे॑ना जघान । अव॑ स्र॒क्तीर्वे॒श्या॑वृश्च॒दिन्द्रः॒ प्राय॑च्छ॒द्विश्वा॒ भोज॑ना सु॒दासे॑ ॥ (१७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
इंद्र ने दरिद्र सुदास से उस समय एक काम कराया था. सिंह जैसे शत्रु को बकरे तुल्य सुदास से मरवाया, यूप, तुला शत्रुओं को सुई के समान सुदास से विद्ध कराया. इंद्र ने सब धन सुदास को दे दिया. (१७)
EN English Translation
Indra had got a job done by the poor Sudas at that time. An enemy like a lion was killed by a goat-like sudas, yup, tula, the enemies were separated from the needle-like sudas. Indra gave all the money to Sudas. (17)
शश्व॑न्तो॒ हि शत्र॑वो रार॒धुष्टे॑ भे॒दस्य॑ चि॒च्छर्ध॑तो विन्द॒ रन्धि॑म् । मर्ता॒ँ एनः॑ स्तुव॒तो यः कृ॒णोति॑ ति॒ग्मं तस्मि॒न्नि ज॑हि॒ वज्र॑मिन्द्र ॥ (१८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! तुम्हारे बहुत से शत्रु तुम्हारे वश में हो गए हैं. उत्साही नास्तिक को वश में करो. नास्तिक तुम्हारी स्तुति करने वालों का अहित करता है. इसके विरुद्ध शक्तिशाली वीर को भेजो एवं उसे अपने वज्र से मारो. (१८)
EN English Translation
O Indra! Many of your enemies have fallen into your control. Tame the enthusiastic atheist. The atheist does harm to those who praise you. Send the mighty hero against it and beat him with your thunderbolt. (18)
आव॒दिन्द्रं॑ य॒मुना॒ तृत्स॑वश्च॒ प्रात्र॑ भे॒दं स॒र्वता॑ता मुषायत् । अ॒जास॑श्च॒ शिग्र॑वो॒ यक्ष॑वश्च ब॒लिं शी॒र्षाणि॑ जभ्रु॒रश्व्या॑नि ॥ (१९)

इस युद्ध में इंद्र ने नास्तिक भेद को मारा था एवं यमुना ने तृत्सुओं व इंद्र को प्रसन्न किया था. अज, शिग्रु एवं यक्षु जनपद ने घोड़ों के सिर इंद्र को भेट में दिए थे. (१९)
EN English Translation
In this war Indra had killed the atheist distinction and Yamuna had appeased the tarts and Indra. Aj, Shigru and Yakshu district had given the heads of horses to Indra in the meeting. (19)
न त॑ इन्द्र सुम॒तयो॒ न रायः॑ सं॒चक्षे॒ पूर्वा॑ उ॒षसो॒ न नूत्नाः॑ । देव॑कं चिन्मान्यमा॒नं ज॑घ॒न्थाव॒ त्मना॑ बृह॒तः शम्ब॑रं भेत् ॥ (२०)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! तुम्हारी नवीन तथा प्राचीन कृपाएं एवं संपत्तियां उषा के द्वारा वर्णन नहीं की जा सकतीं. तुमने मन्यमान के पुत्र देवक का वध किया एवं बड़ा पहाड़ उठाकर शंबर का भेद किया. (२०)
EN English Translation
O Indra! Your new and ancient graces and properties cannot be described by Usha. You killed Devak, the son of Manyman, and raised a great mountain and made a distinction between shambar. (20)
प्र ये गृ॒हादम॑मदुस्त्वा॒या प॑राश॒रः श॒तया॑तु॒र्वसि॑ष्ठः । न ते॑ भो॒जस्य॑ स॒ख्यं मृ॑ष॒न्ताधा॑ सू॒रिभ्यः॑ सु॒दिना॒ व्यु॑च्छान् ॥ (२१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! अनेक राक्षसों को नष्ट करने वाले पराशर एवं वसिष्ठ ऋषि तुम्हारी कामना करके अपने घर को गए एवं उन्होंने तुम्हारी स्तुति की. वे अपने पालनकर्ता की अर्थात् तुम्हारी मित्रता नहीं भूले थे. उनके दिन सदा शोभन होते हैं. (२१)
EN English Translation
O Indra! Parashar and Vasishta sages, who destroyed many demons, went to their homes wishing you and praised you. They did not forget the friendship of their lord. Their days are always awestruck. (21)
द्वे नप्तु॑र्दे॒वव॑तः श॒ते गोर्द्वा रथा॑ व॒धूम॑न्ता सु॒दासः॑ । अर्ह॑न्नग्ने पैजव॒नस्य॒ दानं॒ होते॑व॒ सद्म॒ पर्ये॑मि॒ रेभ॑न् ॥ (२२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अग्नि! मैंने इंद्र की स्तुति करके राजा देववान के नाती एवं पिजवन के पुत्र सुदास से रथ पाया था. मैं होता के समान यज्ञशाला में जाता हूं. (२२)
EN English Translation
O agni! I had received the chariot from Sudas, the grandson of King Devvan and son of Pijvan, by praising Indra. I go to the yajnashala like I would. (22)
च॒त्वारो॑ मा पैजव॒नस्य॒ दानाः॒ स्मद्दि॑ष्टयः कृश॒निनो॑ निरे॒के । ऋ॒ज्रासो॑ मा पृथिवि॒ष्ठाः सु॒दास॑स्तो॒कं तो॒काय॒ श्रव॑से वहन्ति ॥ (२३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
पिजवन के पुत्र राजा सुदास को श्रद्धा एवं दान के प्रतिरूप, सोने के अलंकारों से सुशोभित, ऊंचे-नीचे स्थान में भी सीधे चलने वाले एवं पृथ्वी पर स्थित चार घोड़े पुत्र के समान पालनीय वसिष्ठ को पुत्र के यश के लिए ढोते हैं. (२३)

King Sudas, the son of Pijvan, is adorned with gold ornaments, who walks straight in a high and low place and four horses on earth, carry the cradle vasishtha like a son for the son's glory. (23)
यस्य॒ श्रवो॒ रोद॑सी अ॒न्तरु॒र्वी शी॒र्ष्णेशी॑र्ष्णे विब॒भाजा॑ विभ॒क्ता । स॒प्तेदिन्द्रं॒ न स्र॒वतो॑ गृणन्ति॒ नि यु॑ध्याम॒धिम॑शिशाद॒भीके॑ ॥ (२४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जिन सुदास का यश विस्तृत द्यावा-पृथिवी में फैला है, जिन्होंने दाता बनकर प्रत्येक श्रेष्ठ व्यक्ति को धन दिया है, उन सुदास की स्तुति सातों लोक इंद्र के समान करते हैं. नदियों ने युद्ध में युध्यामधि नामक शत्रु को मार डाला था. (२४)
EN English Translation
The sudas whose fame is spread in the vast dyava-prithvi, who has given wealth to every great person by becoming a giver, the seven lokas praise the same as Indra. The rivers had killed an enemy called Yudhyamdhi in the war. (24)
इ॒मं न॑रो मरुतः सश्च॒तानु॒ दिवो॑दासं॒ न पि॒तरं॑ सु॒दासः॑ । अ॒वि॒ष्टना॑ पैजव॒नस्य॒ केतं॑ दू॒णाशं॑ क्ष॒त्रम॒जरं॑ दुवो॒यु ॥ (२५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे नेता मरुतो! पिता दिवोदास के ही समान राजा सुदास की भी सेवा करो एवं पिजवन के पुत्र सुदास के घर की रक्षा करो. सुदास की सेना जरारहित एवं अविनाशी हो. (२५)
EN English Translation
O leader Maruto! Serve King Sudas, just like his father Divodas, and protect the house of Sudas, the son of Pijvan. Sudas's army should be without a sense of disrepair and indestructible. (25)
